4 pointswhile Poland can give a variety of scenarios to play starting from 1939 up to the cold war what-if scenarios (maybe even east coalition against Big Brother) I would give my vote China-Vietnam border war. Mostly because of similarities in equipment. Although my ultimate vote would go for terrain that could cover hypothetical Sino-Soviet border war (For example Ussuri River, Damansky Island etc...)

3 pointsGood Afternoon Chaps, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Theodore Aloysius Andrews. A Naval Sub-Lieutenant from a Naval family located in Plymouth, England. I joined the navy from the upper sixth (I attended Devenport Grammer School for boys) on the 1st of March 1914 at the age of 17 1/2 and passed out of Dartmouth College six months later. Since then I have been based at Hendon Aerodrome (London) where I went solo in a Farnham Longhorn shortly before the war was declared. I have 32 hours in Farnham Shorthorns. I am currently in No. 1 Wing stationed at Gosport flying recon over the channel in a temperamental Avro 504 (64 hours) looking to transfer to France and get stuck into the Hun My Old Avro Although young, I am confident and mechanically minded. I have a good relationship with the men around me. However, due to my small stature and slight asthma, they tend to call me 'Runt' much more than I'd like. My father is Station Commander at RNAS Eastchurch, his claim to fame is that while he was an instructor there he taught the First Lord of the Admiralty, Winston Churchill (a family friend) to fly. I tend to keep all this information to myself for fear of not being seen as a good flyer in my own right. Though it has its uses. I walk with a stick due to a poor landing in a storm last year but it has no effect on my flying. Sadly, it does tend to add more credibility to the name 'runt'. My father's influence helped me to keep flying and not remain grounded. I am a mix of cautious and optimistic - longing to give the Bosch a bloody nose! Your obedient servant, Theo Andrews 29 May Gosport Postings were due today. I rushed to the Notice board to find that I‘d been posted to War Flight Manston. My heart sank. I hoped to be posted to France, not search fruitlessly at night for Zeppelins. I want to take the flight to the wretched Hun. I knocked loudly on the C.O.s door. “Ah, Andrews just the man” he smiled with gusto “Looks like you’ve dodged a bullet. You were due to join No.1 wing in France on the 1st June however, somehow at the last minute, I was handed orders to change your posting to Manston. Lucky fellow” I didn’t think so. 30 May Gosport I was up in the Avro over the Channel, flying with Harris (quiet Scot with a glass eye and wooden leg but a fine observer) beautiful day for flying, not another plane in sight, just some allied shipping. Despite the joy in flying I was cursing my father, who must lay behind the change of orders from France to Manston. I expect mother has put pressure on him. I’m likely to be given a white feather at this rate. 31 May Gosport/Pol-sur-Mer All change. The order sheet on the mess wall has been replaced. I am no longer to report to Manston (apparently some Army chaps are taking all the slots.) I’m to remain in No.1 Wing and off forthwith to France. “Ah, Andrew’s … sorry old man your posting’s been changed at the last minute to France. No.1 RNAS Pol-sur- Mer needs a pilot like you. They are down a few after a nasty business yesterday.” The C.O. was standing behind me. “Mind sir … positively delighted” I responded crisply. “Might as well leave today old man … we have a BE2c that needs transporting - I can’t spare anyone to go with you … so in your own time.” Stepping into the BE2 was like stepping into the future. So many instruments, dials and levers made the old Avro look utterly sparse. After a pleasant flight across the channel solo, I landed at “Pol on sea” and met some of the chaps… my nickname of ‘runt’ seems to have made it ahead of me (bad show). I was introduced to Lieutenant Reginald Jefferson who would fly obs with me. A thin chap with the most luxurious moustache and large unblinking eyes. I would miss Harris and his dour sense of humour. But this chap looked more than able to hold his own if we ever were to meet the Hun over the front lines. 1 June Pol-sur-Mer An early start this morning. There was a fine atmosphere in the mess last night! Squadron Commander Christopher Cleaver seems a gallant and game chap with plenty of experience and he took me aside and said I’d be under the care of John Gilanders in B Flight - flying on his wing. I would fly the BE2 c I’d brought over from Gosport. Most of the squadron was in Parasols but I and a couple of other new boys would remain in the BE2s. I was delighted … It’s a solid plane very stable, and, as I say, like stepping into the future. The first job was a jaunt in beautiful conditions well within our lines we saw no other aircraft, but the noise of the front and the occasional puff of Archie. Turns out Jefferson (my obs man) is a singer … “Daisy Daisy”, “Here we go round the mulberry bush” and “Archie Not tonight ” (every time he saw a puff of anti-aircraft fire) seem to be among his favourites. We were up for two hours and it passed quickly and tunefully. Some of the squadron went up in the afternoon and had a tangle with some Aviatiks which proved inconclusive. Us new boys were kept grounded and were given time to meet the ground crew, who were thoroughly decent chaps and very hard working. I’m very happy to have made it to France. Many are the adventures that await!

2 pointsThat is big news to me. I know Bodø well thanks to an old naval warfare board game, Victory Games 2nd Fleet.

2 pointsMy thanks to you for the kind words. It's nice to see our dedication being recognized. Some might take it for granted but should remember that many payware products don't get the same amount of bugfixing and end-user support. We are doing it for free, all for passion and fun of creating new virtual experiences. The mod also got its own page on ModDB, but just for spreading news about it. It's only available here. Got a pointless comment by a Guest user claiming that the mod is a scam, requiring users to buy it on the other site where it is hosted. We modders got no single dime from it, even though I'd need some for a new crate; ironically I can barely run the mod on my decade old PC due to excessive loading times. Maybe I should pride myself in seeing some amount of false and/or hateful statements. If we attract both flak and praise, it means we've done something special, I guess. In other news, I just added Suggestions for CTD issues at the end of the mod's description page, above the Hotfix. Those suggested settings should help end-users experiencing crashes to desktop.

But a classic place shutting down for the old cold warriors out there and classic aircraft for those at least alive through the end of it... https://theaviationgeekclub.com/royal-norwegian-air-force-to-shut-down-bodo-air-base-and-to-retire-f-16-jet-fighters-on-january-6/?fbclid=IwAR3GAC31vJ8G0NNBVpxqCZCmGPYiOGznKMlj5uK74-yj3TWIKh41dzklTnw

1 pointThank you so much for these kind words, Wilches. You even bothered to to use the translator, I really appreciate you saying this. It's not just the passive attitude of the community, but also a lack of free time in the coming months won't allow me to put effort into terrain modding. The lack of activity in the site is somewhat demotivating for such efforts, things used to be a bit different one or two years ago. Anyway, a WW2 version of the terrain is unlikely to happen, it would require many more researches, but there will be two versions, one for Cold War and the other for the 1990s conflicts in the Balkans. Thank you again for your support!

1 pointJune 1 Karls Diary We took off at 9.00 in the morning,Oberleutnant Viktor Aeckerle and i. The weather was beautiful as it should be. Our task was to photograph the trenches in St. Mihiel. Although I had only flown in Taube before, Aviatik was easy to learn. The biggest drawback was the lack of front visibility, because the observer sit there. We have not an armament because a camera was heavy that load would to be too heavy. 1st shot from Verdun 2.bmp

1 pointFeldwebel Lyuben Anastas Mladenov Feldflieger-Abteilung 32, Bertincourt, Flanders 01/06/1915 0 confirmed kills So this is France. I've been riding the train the whole night, and I finally arrived to the aerodrome. I've been introduced to our Hauptmann, Kurt Seidler, and to who was going to become the observer for my machine, Emil Kuegler. They all seem like good fellers, even if the mood is a bit cold. I took a tour in the hangars, and came to the sight of this wonderful machine, an Aviatik. It's nothing like those flemsy paper machines I flew in flight school. Got to meet my mechanic, a certain Ruben Speißberg, a trustworthy chap. In the afternoon I took the crate for a test flight circling Bertincourt, and I must say - It is quite the bird. Looking forward to put what I learned to test tomorrow. Feldwebel Lyuben Anastas Mladenov Feldflieger-Abteilung 32, Bertincourt, Flanders 02/06/1915 0 confirmed kills Today I had my first sortie. Seidler, as Schwarmfuhrer, and me as his wingman. He was going to take some pictures of the enemy frontline, as high command is currently working on a mosaic map of the current AO. We took off at around 8:25AM, the air was fizzy, the sun was shining, a gentle breeze was striking my face as me and Kuegler put the wheels off the ground. I'm not exactly sure what to expect from the Britons, but we saw no enemy machines for the whole duration of the flight. The view from up there was majestic: we were able to see an artillery barrage in all of its might. We stood up there for a couple of hours, then came back home to have some well deserved beer.

1 pointKarl's Diary May 30, 1915 Tomorrow is my first military flight at the two-seater Aviatik. I'm a little nervous. Fortunately, my scout Viktor reassured me that the enemy planes had not been seen in recent days and the weather should stay good.We will see! Karl August von Tabbert, was born the son of a factory owner in Regensburg on 5 March in 1896. Karl was just graduating from college when war broke out and he promptly enlisted in Feldartillerie Regiment 7. He went to the front on 10 September 1914,and soon after being promoted to unteroffizier, was severely wounded. After recovering, von Tabbert volunteered for the Luftstreitskräfte in early 1915,managing to qualify as a pilot. His position was determined Feldflieger Abteilung 19(FFA19).Base was Porcher,Verdun sector.

1 pointNon so nemmeno come iniziare.

1 pointAnd so it begins - nice to see more mature WWI pilots (such as the crew from The Blue Max) and some hailing from exotic regions, for DiD IV - will see if I can find enough free time perhaps to join once "1916" rolls in gents' - currently still busy with work and all that jazz. Be careful with those under-powered crates if flying some of the early war FMs for maximal enjoyment in 1915. Looking forward to reports of aircraft barely taking off and (very) long hauls to the front, particularly when the winds are in the opposite direction. And keeping my fingers crossed for a dogfight or two between the early Morane Parasol L and Pfalz A.I early war variants - congratulations to all, beforehand, if you manage to overtake and/or land hits on your opponent in such scenarios. Happy DiDing all, Von S
