1 pointDear Friends, The work continues. At the moment we're working on the schedule of the new project, new techs, compiling design documents for the new aircraft and other objects - and along with all that we're developing the six Collector Planes, some of which will be released before the end of this year and some in the beginning of the next one. One of them is the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIVe "Bubbletop". Unlike the Spitfire Mk.XIV already existing in the sim, this one has a bubble canopy without the dorsal fuselage spine. Many WWII fighters had such modification - the goal was the improved backward field of view. However, the dorsal spine wasn't there for nothing - it provided better aerodynamics via better airflow behind the canopy, reducing total drag of the aircraft. Nearly all pre-war aircraft designs had it because of a bit higher speed, but the actual war, as it usually does in human history, set the priorities differently. In the beginning of the war two Axis design bureaus tried a different canopy and rear fuselage design: there were Focke-Wulf Fw 190 designed by Kurt Tank and Mitsubishi A6M Zero designed by Jiro Horikoshi. They weren't the first fighters with bubble canopies and without a dorsal spine behind, but they were the fighters that were quite numerous and affected the air battles on either side of the Earth. The bubble canopy without the dorsal spine affected the aerodynamics negatively, but it gave the pilots much better view backwards - this was noted not only by them, but by their adversaries as well, since an air engagement was usually initiated by a sudden attack from a blind zone. Soviet engineers created bubble canopy modifications of the existing aircraft in the end of 1942 and in 1943 these models were produced on a massive scale. Their Western colleagues adopted it later and bubble canopy modifications began to emerge in 1944. Bubbletop Spitfire Mk.XIV appeared a year after the initial design, in April 1945. In Great Battles, Spitfire Mk.XIVe "bubbletop" will have two wing variations - with long (fighter) and short (photo recon) wingtips. As we always do, there will be other modifications included. Spitfire Mk.XIVe bubbletop will be released in the beginning of the next Spring, which is a bit symbolic, since, as we mentioned above, the real fighter appeared on the front during Spring 1945.

1 pointI hope I understood the question... In Photoshop, select the area you want to extend in the layer, do a CTRL+T and the area will be lightened with a square with guides, then select and move the guide (Tiny square) you need to the desired position. I'm at work, can't make pics...

1 pointHi GKABS, not sure I understand - do you mean something like this? Are you using a PBR texture by chance and need to need to make the base diffuse texture extend then?

Persian Gulf Terrain -------------- Beta 0.5-------------------------- ***************************************************** This terrain is written for SFP1, but should work properly with WOI,WOV and WOE. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I. Short description: This terrain covers the most parts of the Persian Gulf from Strait of Hormuz to the oil fields of Bandar e Khomeni. It includes the coastal region of the Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and the coastal region of Saudi Arabia. Kuwait and Iraq are NOT included in this terrain, because an other terrain (Desert Storm) is already covering this area. At the moment Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the western part of Iran are ready for action in this terrain. Ground combat you will see on iranian soil, mostly in the Busher area. At the UAE and the eastern part of Iran only airfields are operational, no other targets. This will come with the next update. The tiles of the street network are only placeholders. I'm not satisfied with them. They will also replaced. There are some other issues which still have to be done. Dont forget. Its a beta release at the moment. Improvments of Beta 0.5 1. 312 target areas instead 175 in Beta 0.1 2. Iran is nearly finished. Rivers, towns, villages, bridges, some factories, ports, oil fields, Scud launchers, coastal defence missile launchers are set on the map. A SAM network around Bandar Abbas in the southeast of Iran ist installed now ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. INSTALLATION: Unzip all files into your StrikeFighters/terrain folder. Put folder Silkworm into your objects/groundobjects folder. Thats it. Q: What is to do to make it usable for WOI,WOV and WOE? For WOI open file Persischer Golf.ini with notepad editor overwrite line CatFile=..\desert\desert.cat with CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat For WOV open file Persischer Golf.ini with notepad editor overwrite line CatFile=..\desert\desert.cat with CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat For WOE open file Persischer Golf.ini with notepad editor overwrite line CatFile=..\desert\desert.cat with CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat Then you must download a tileset which is made for SFP1 desert terrain and install into the Perischer Golf folder. Be aware, that there are 19 new tiles, so that your terrain could be look something strange. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ III. Credits. I want to say thank you to all guys who helped me to create the PG terrain, and made the new ground objects like cars, fireengine, floodlights, run- and taxiways ... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ IV. This Terrain is Freeware. Commercial use is not allowed. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ V. For remarks, comments, bugs, etc please use CombatAce forum or send me a PM. Hope you enjoy it. Michael (Gepard) Made in Germany 22 Januar 2011 -
1 pointRadarSearchCW=FALSE This means that the radar does not search in Continuous Wave (CW) mode. RadarTrackCW=FALSE This means that the radar does not track in Continuous Wave (CW) mode. Further, the radar is most likely a Pulse Doppler (PD) set or a simple range only radar. This means that a jammer designed to interfere with a CW radar may not work as the fundamental operating principles of CW and PD radar are different and jammers useful against one type are generally not useful against the other. Later jammers may have settings that allow them to be effective against both types. Are there any other lines with the words "Search" or "Track" in them?

1 pointI'm working on a new skin for the later and interesting Su-35S (by frtn) found in the SFP1 section. This mod works fine with SF2. Even if there are several little problems with the mapping. P.

1 pointHello, thank you for your comments. The project was always intended to be mission-based, but during early alpha builds some talented modders did create a campaign for it so there is definitely that potential.

1 pointThis time something not very useful, not even posing a serious threat. Just a piece of equipment to populate airfield areas. Have to admit, inspired by Gepard's terrain work. RSBN-4N Radio Engineering System of short Range Navigation with AD-30T-230M3 generators KNS-1PM-2 on Zil-130 chassis. Light beacon Zis-151 and ATZ-3 (only a few will see differences with Zil-157). I think 4-5 models more and I will upload something for modders, anytime soon. 2 weeks standard CA time.
