In 1976 the RAF needed a heavy intercepter to defend the UK against modern soviet long range bombers. The idea was born to use Vulcan bombers as basic for such an interceptor. The Vulcan F.1 would have been armed with 12 AIM-54A Phoenix missiles (8 internal, 4 external). Later the idea was canceled in favor for the fighter version of the Tornado.

one of my tricks is a small library of metal "pics" from google. from that base, i play around; overlay to change metal type, stretch or shrink and dirtying it up. cut parts of existing layers and change up opacities. the end results have been cool lately. the journey can be...... interesting

Le Bourget Aerodrom. Basic shape made after a landing chart by US DoD of 1954. Since then the shape of the airport has changed a lot. Hangars and other buildings are still missing, parked aircrafts too. Will come tomorrow.

Tupolev Tu-16 'Badger-A' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a very simple mod of the stock AI Third Wire Tu-16 to give a flyable (and fictional) Tu-16 in service with the Fuerza Aérea Argentina with markings for Grupo 1 (grey) and Grupo 2 (silver) in the 1960's to early 1980's era. COCKPIT There is not really a totally suitable pit for this aircraft so I've decided not to include one but you will be sat in the right place (offset to port) and you will have a gun sight and a ground mapping radar. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Tu-16_FAA folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Tu-16_FAA folder into your Decals folder. That's it! FLYING THE BADGER It's so easy to scrape the tail when taking off so let the Badger 'auto take-off' by setting flaps and full power, release the brakes and the nose will lift at 260kmh and it will lift off the runway soon after. I've had good results by releasing my bombs at 10km away from the target whilst at 6,000m altitude but the Badger will happily cruise at 9,000m and at that height you should release your bombs at about 12km away from the target or just a bit more. Remember that the Badger has a fixed forward-firing 23mm cannon so if your bombs miss the fuel tank then get down nice and low and take it out that way! To help you land the Badger I've added fake airbrakes which will slow you down enough so it's just a matter of lining up the runway from a fair old distance and making a nice 'greaser' of a landing. It does sometimes help to push the stick forward to overcome the bounciness of the landing gear. CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 2 - October 28th, 2023

Please note that because there is less information about this air defense system leaked to the outside world, this mod has certain [What If] content. So what are Type 625 and 625E? "Based on the revealed images, the Type 625E is a short range air defense system, or SHORAD. It is built as an 8×8 vehicle-mounted self-propelled anti-aircraft gun and surface-to-air missile system." —— From Military-Wiki This SHORAD is set to debut in at least 2021, with Type 625 being PLA’s own version, while Type 625E is the version intended for export. The difference between them is that the Type 625 has a longer gun and only 2 short-range anti-aircraft missiles on both sides. In this mod, due to the lack of 100% accurate model materials, I personally transformed the Type 625E based on the real prototype, named it Type 625A and set the service date as 2020. In summary, this mod contains: 1.Type 625A SHORAD (Olive Green/Desert Digital); 2.Type 625E SHORAD (Woodland/Desert/Desert Digital). Usage: Copy the Objects folder into your SF2 main folder. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Model/Texture: Tim Samedov & Me Data/Modding: Me. Special thanks to:GKABS (for the Stinger model, the HY-6B seems to have a similar appearance to the Stinger, so I adapted based on his great work)

When it became clear that the Mirage F1 was becoming a successful production aircraft, Dassault began investigating the possibility of a dedicated reconnaissance version for its most important client, the French Air Force. However, the escalating cost of fighter aircraft meant that add-on pods for this purpose were a more economical alternative. Many French Air Force aircraft, as well as those of some export clients (such as Iraq's Mirage F1EQ), did indeed have a variety of reconnaissance pods available, which were attached to the underside of the main fuselage. However, the development of a tactical reconnaissance aircraft for the French Air Force continued, and the first Mirage F1CR flew on 20 November 1981. From Wikipedia: "The ADM-160 MALD (Miniature Air-Launched Decoy) is a decoy missile developed by the United States. It uses gradient-index optics to create a radar cross section that simulates an airplane, in order to confuse missile defense systems. ...... ADM-160B Decoy version developed by Raytheon with longer endurance. In use by the USAF. ADM-160C "MALD-J" Radar jammer variant of ADM-160B by Raytheon. This variant of the MALD decoy can operate in both decoy and jammer modes...... MALD-J will provide stand-in jamming capability for the Airborne Electronic Attack Systems of Systems. It will be launched against a preplanned target and jam specific radars in a stand-in role to degrade or deny the IADS detection of friendly aircraft or munitions.Delivery to the US Armed Forces is to begin in 2012. That year, the Air Force ended procurement of the ADM-160B and will only procure MALD-J versions. MALD-N Navy variant based on the MALD-J. " This mod Include: 1.ADM-160B MALD 2.ADM-160C MALD-J 3.ADM-160D MALD-N Usage and precautions: 1.Upzip and copy ADM-160C folder to Objects/Weapons ; 2.For a true decoy effect I set it to "ASM" and "is decoy" ,so the ADM-160C is restricted to ASM compatible weapon station ; 3.Since it works similar to a drone in reality, it doesn't cause any damage to any target in the game, and may not even hit the target accurately, but it can indeed play a very good role in covering cruise missiles. Please be clear about your purpose of use and make a good choice. Model/Texture: BorisBC; Data/Modding: Me.

We (the admins) have been getting some well, complaints, about the lack of information on some of the recent uploads. This is just a reminder to all CA Members that are making mods and uploading them. We always appriciate the contributions, but pleas follow these guidelines!! ==================== Important Information on File Upload Policies and the Minimum Requirements Thereof: At the very minimum, the following is required for an upload here at CombatAce 1) A screenshot of the mod; not a photograph of the Real Life ™ item, but an in-game shot, so people can see what it looks like. For terrains/terrain mods, a shot of your favorite aircraft flying over the terrain, highlighting terrain features is a good one. 2) A quick, simple description, this is what shows in the Announcement Threads below, describing for WHICH 3W Game series; meaning if for ONLY SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI, or Only SF2 Series, OR is usable in both; what the purpose of the mod (is it a "What If..", or a mod of an original aircraft or mod of another mod, etc) Generally, explain the purpose and intent of the Upload. 3) Inside the uploaded zip, a COMPLETE readme with full instructions on How To Install, if other parts are needed and where to get them; etc. There are several dozens of REALLY good, clear conscise readmes around that one can base theirs off of (I should know - I wrote most of them!) Also, list sources and if using someone else's as a base PLEASE make sure you have permission (as in for TMF Products). If the mod is from someone that has signed the Freeware Accords, PLEASE make sure you list their name, and Thank Them for their Original Work. It's the civilized way, doncha know! Thank you all for you kind attention to details; working together we can only create better mods, and a better 3rd Wire Community! Wrench kevin stein

This is an update for my repaint of the redone VietnamSEA tiles and the GreenHelll addon. Thus the previous update is required: VietnamSEA & Green Hell repaint Mk.9 In the original I offered a repaint of the rescaled Green Hell trees, as well as 'enhanced originals' I bodged together, that were basically the original trees pushed about a stop (thats photographic speak for made brighter), but the colours didn't blend with the terrain- ugly.

In this update you have four tree types to choose from (don't get too excited they're not all that different). Upon request I reworked the original larger Green Hell trees for both the 'originals' and the 'repaints'. Includes: Large Trees/ Repaint: **Recommended** reworked repaint that gives a more accurate variation in the colour of the vegetation (primarily to the grass and palm trees) with terrain blending also kept in mind. Large Trees/Original: overall colours and curves altered to make vegetation blend with my repainted terrain. No alterations to individual vegetation. Rescaled Trees/Repaint: Same as above with rescaled trees. Rescaled Trees/Original: As above. Changes: - Upon request, addon now included altered version of the original Green Hell trees as well as the smaller rescaled ones for your preference. - Originals re-done with same alterations used on my tiles. - Repainted trees better balanced out for more realism once placed on terrain, whilst maintain their independently realistic colours.

F-84H for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:EUROPE This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-84F to give a fictional F-84H 'Sharav' of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; No.101 Squadron (Camo) No.107 Squadron (Silver) No.140 Squadron (Camo) No.201 Squadron (Silver) No.201 Squadron (Silver c/w sharkmouth) This should work in a stand alone SF2:Europe game (featuring the stock Third Wire F-84F) but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I/SF2NA. BACKSTORY The Israeli Air Force had looked at purchasing the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak as early as 1952 but teething problems with the troublesome Wright J65 jet engine delayed a firm order until March 1955 when 36 F-84H's were ordered with deliveries starting in August 1955 with No.107 squadron becoming the first unit to re-equip with this tough and popular fighter-bomber. After seeing service in the ill-fated 1956 Suez conflict another batch of 36 F-84H's were ordered and the type eventually equipped four squadrons and took part in the 1967 'Six-Day' war gaining a fearsome reputation as a low-level attack aircraft. However the two squadrons that were still equipped with the type at the start of the 1973 'Yom Kippur' war suffered heavy losses over the Sinai Peninsula and the type was withdrawn from service by the end of year. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-84H folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-84H folder into your Decals folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Special thanks to ludo.m54 for the superb F-84F templates. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.
