Indeed a shame - hardly any regular posts in the FE2 forums anymore. Hope everyone's doing well - haven't seen names like Geezer, Crawford, and others in these forums for years. Fully-modded FE2 is still my go-to sim for single missions with variety, and for tight-knuckle flying and dog-fighting - I'd say better than modded RoF, and also easier to set up and quicker to get into than the WoFF series (although the latter is definitely the gold standard for full-blown campaigning). Come to think of it, the WoFF forums on SimHQ have also largely dried up over the last couple of years. And DiD IV, the latest Dead is Dead campaign being run in WoFF (on their CombatAce forums) is pretty much literally DiD too (compared with DiDs II and III from several years back). Perhaps newer generations of simmers have mostly gravitated to multiplayer; or tablet/phone games have saturated the game market. I hope to return more regularly to FE2 in the future - there are a few aircraft that I haven't tweaked the FMs for, and I still want to try to introduce (if possible) realistic turbulence into the sim. Also, there's something wholesome and relaxing about tinkering with FE2 - the virtual equivalent of an old, wooden hangar or quaint WWI aircraft factory. Was busy for a while with AI mods for RoF (an exercise in frustration considering that RoF is so locked-down); and also re-discovered FlightGear in the meantime, a very nice, free sim for monoplane simulation and civilian flying - but be selective when choosing aircraft to fly in it. Some of the FMs are questionable, particularly for multi-wing aircraft. Recommended there is to stick to large airliners like the 707, 747, DC-10, also single-wing, small aircraft such as Pipers, Cessnas, Tecnams, gliders, and so on. (Thinking to myself: sure would be nice to introduce the live weather and advanced weather systems from FlightGear into FE2 - i.e., METAR system, also moisture formation, storms, and so on - although that would require some way of having an open connection to the internet, from within FE2, to siphon in live weather data per whatever location you're flying through in FE2 at any given moment, etc.) Cheers all,

I always have to have at least one install on my computer. I may not play it constantly, but I always come back to First Eagles. It's pretty sad to see just how much of a ghost town the FE forum has become.

@madvad I don't think you really solved it. Now you're showing gerwin's TFD version of the stock IcelandNA terrain. The one of this topic is Baltika's Iceland terrain, which is an entirely different terrain, it is standalone and features a more complex tileset and a full scale size, unlike IcelandNA which is only 60% or so of real world scale. Gerwin's replaces the stock IcelandNA terrain, Baltika's must be installed in its own separate folder instead.

Sadly, I have to accept my forced retirement from flying WOFF. Four years ago I was diagnosed with motor neuron disease (ALS) and it has finally caught up. Just after New Year's I developed a very serious case of pneumonia and spent a month in the hospital. Since getting home three weeks ago, I have found that my hands are much worse. I have been putting off getting back into the DID campaign because I was frankly afraid of testing my ability to manipulate the controls. Today was the day. I was most afraid of finding myself unable to push the joystick to the right because the wrist lacked strength. That wasn't the problem. Getting to the keyboard buttons for engine start and map was a two-handed job. Controlling the rotating knob on my throttle that governed mixture was nearly impossible. I couldn't depress the button on my joystick that turned the automatic pilot on and off. Every time I needed two hands for one controller, the other one demanded the same two hands. I am going to lurk around the forum and contribute when I can, but I will have to pack Douglas Bell-Gordon, my campaign pilot, off to a staff job in England. The original plans were to have him stay with Naval Nine until after 1 April 1918, then command an RAF squadron until the end of the war. Fingers were crossed that after the Belgian expansion, we might see a Dolphin before November rolls around. Please let me take this opportunity to thank each and every member of this kind, friendly, mature, and respectful community. You have made this a wonderful pastime and passion. Special thanks and admiration go out to the development team. You have created a true time machine to make boyhood fantasies come true. Massive respect! Cheers, Raine

You´re right. It worked but I ended up getting confused with the screenshots. Now yes (this map deserved an updated version with more definition in the tilesets, it's incredible):

Poland is a big country with heavily changing borders. It would be a big challenge to make this terrain. This is not done in few weeks.

Update: Resolved, and don't ask me what happened. I did exactly the same thing, and it worked. Sometimes it seems like my game has a mind of its own and decides things for itself, regardless of what I do, edit or change. It is scary.

No unfortunately there is no Poland Map, I dont think even on Crapuns site there is one either. I hope you are enjoying my PZL reworks.

View File IAR 80/81 REDUX PACK IAR 80/81 PACK. I was not originally going to release this pack, as I was unsure of the reaction to a relativley unknown ( unfortunately ) Fighter. but after the relative success of the PZL's I uploaded last week, I though it would be nice to send these IAR's your way too. The IAR's were only ever used by the Romanians, and was in service until the early 50's so that in itself speaks volumes about this rather attractive aircraft. Anyway, this is a slight rework of Pasko's IAR 80A and 81C, I have also included a <cough> alternative and completely "What if" IAR 80P I shall let you look and see at to what THAT is all about !!! So, the details, I have edited the original skins, and have reworked ALL the decals, I have added the stencilling as accurately as I could, but there maybe a few errors here and there in the actual positioning of them, as finding detailed pictures of the type is just not there. The stencilling is very sparse, so I think I have got it mainly right ( I hope !! ) I have updated the sounds, and the weapons loadouts, as for some unknown reason, the original bomb loadouts were wrong, So the 80A now carries ONLY 2, 50Kg bombs under the wings, and the 81C has the centreline 250Kg and 2, 50Kg under wing bombs. The 80P however has the original loadout, because why not, it is a "What if" innit hehehehehe. The "real" IAR's in this pack carry German weapons, and are armed with for the 80A 6, 7.9mm FN Brownings, and the 81C has 2 MG151 20mm,s and only 2 of the FN Brownings . The 90P's are armed with ITALIAN bombs, 50, 100, and 250 KG's and gun armament comprises of 4, Breda SAFAT 7.7 mm MG's and a pair of Breda SAFAT 12.7mm MG's. All the markings have been replaced from the original ones, which I found too bright and "in yer face" and then I added on the differing markings from later years. Everything is included in the pack, aircraft, decals, guns, pilots, weapons, and sounds. I have boxed everything up so it just a drag and drop kinda deal. One point though, please please PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE ensure that the file GunBarrel20mm is in the Pilots folder, or else you will end up with a very odd looking aircraft ( this is for the 81C. ) I also swapped out the Cockpit, as the faux Spitfire one looked awful, so it is now the YAK 9 one instead, not accurate, as all the dials are in Russian, but it does look better.............Well in my humble opinion it does at least. All the sounds I used are in the sounds folder, including the sounds for the guns. That as they say, is a wrap. AS ALWAYS...........................ENJOY !!! View File SF2 TMF Mirage IIIC (AdA) Upgrade/Remod Pack SF2 TMF Mirage IIIC (AdA) Upgrade/Remod Pack 2/21/2024 -For SF2, Any and All- This is a full upgrade/remod pack for The Mirage Factory's Dassault Mirage 3C series as used by the French Air Force. Included in this package are 2 complete versions of the Mirage IIIC: Mirage IIIC ("standard" usage) 1) NMF - EC 1/2 Cigones 2) AdA Blue - EC 2/10 Seine (<1975) Mirage IIICi/SEPR (rocket boosted, single missile armed, no gun, interceptor) 1) NMF only - EC 2/13 Alpes They are set up and labeled to cause NO conflicts with the Mirage III's available as stock within the game or as a DLC from 3rd Wire. Everything needed is supplied, excepting those weapons used that are stock 3W items. Skins remain in their original bmp format. Each skin has 26 letter and number decals, and Decal Randomization is TRUE. Almost all markings are decals. The SF2 date switch is used on the standard IIIC, changing to the Air Defense Blue in 1975. For the most part, the skins are left 'attached' to the squadrons from when originally released 'way back when. When in-game, on the Aircraft Selection Dropdown you'll see: Mirage IIIC (TMF) or Mirage IIIC/SEPR (TMF) So you can't mistake them for anything else but TMF Birds (tm). As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. All original readmes, when discoverable, are included. The 'Change Log' is, as always, in the Notes section below. Happy Landings! Wrench Kevin Stein For Oli and The Mirage Factory Submitter Wrench Submitted 03/01/2024 Category Mirage 3

Thanks mate I appreciate that, basically just like on Cliff7600's Spitfire Mk5c or Mk12 if you have a look at them in the lod viewer. They taper down to a few inches of exposed cannon barrel at the end. If that works out ok one in the earlier Spitfire MK5b style which has alot more of the cannon barrel exposed would also be greatly appreciated. Cliff7600 has nailed that one in his Mk5b as well for reference. I'm well mate, another baby on the way so buisy getting ready for that and preparing for the sleep derivation! Hope things are good in your neck of the woods. Later style (Mk5c/9/12 etc): Earlier Mk5b:

The surface combat in SF2 can be quite interesting sometimes. The two ships(WIP) and their very weapons above also come from a mysterious eastern country not named New Jersey.
