Most recently...Anti-runway mission, apparently I was not the only flight in the strike. A Phabulous Phantom on its way to Kim Jong's house... A few presents for the Dhimari regime This "what if" Voodoo is not terrible... From the pit of the Sabre, all I saw was the tracers going out front, I thought I was high for AAA, and so I paused to see... So I showed him how it was supposed to be done... Heres just a great shot of my 510th Buzzards F16 flying over Hanoi (I think)... I think the grey paint is good camo for city scapes... Speaking of camouflage, how about this one? And finally, a pass by the carrier before heading out for the afternoon.

Been busy transforming the data ini for the ancient L.63 (from 2006) that's under the Central Power "other" downloads section into a Schütte-Lanz airship representative of models 6 to 11 (mid-war SL types)...the 3d model by Hitchinbrooke has a cigar-shape so should work well for this...bit more to tinker with the FM but will include this with the ver. 9.5 FM pack too. Couple of screenies below (will include the skins as well..the SL types had wooden construction and wire cross-bracing until 1918 when they shifted to metal...Zepps on the other hand always used metal frames). Happy flying, Von S

A very respected Captain in the Foreign Legion was transferred to a remote desert outpost. On his orientation tour he noticed a very old seedy looking camel tied out behind the enlisted men's barracks. He asked the Sergeant leading the tour, "Why is a camel tied to the barracks?" The Sergeant replied, "Well sir, it's a long way from anywhere, and the men have natural sexual urges, so when they do ... uh ... we have the camel ready for them.” The Captain said, "Well, I suppose if it's good for morale, then I guess it's all right with me”. After he had been stationed at the fort for six long, lonely months, the Captain simply couldn't control his sexual angst any longer. He barked to his Sergeant: "BRING THE CAMEL INTO MY TENT!” The Sergeant shrugged his shoulders, looked at the other men, and lead the camel into the Captain's quarters. Within a few minutes, the Captain emerged from his tent, fastening his trousers, almost beaming with pride. "So, Sergeant, is that how the enlisted men do it?" he asked. The Sergeant replied, "Well, sir, usually they just use it to ride into town."

Indeed, for the moment, I am very happy with RoF, WoFF and FE2. The planeset of flying circus does not interest me as I am mostly interested in French vs German air battles As a side note, I am reading this book : It is actually a sum of reports of the French Army levels and Army Corps level HQ on the use of air power during "Nivelle Offensive" in April 1917 to Malmaison Battle (September 1917 ?). Very interesting as it explains that though the French Air Force was not perfect at this time, its main reason for failure was that the offensive preparation started at bad weather with lot of consequences : - delay in arrival of Fighter Squadrons - losses and damages by accident -efficiency of artillery spotting and reconnaissance It is interesting to read that the German used jamming against artillery spotting missions. The French air force were ok in terms of fighters (most of them were Spads), but for 2-seaters, they still had Caudron G4 and Farman F40, which were outdated. They also used Salmson Moisneaux, but they were unreliable. The Caudron R4 was very dangerous against potential attackers. Tactically, the main problem was that the 2-seaters operated singly and at this time, it was rated as very difficult to coordinate escort operations (differences in performances of the planes, lack of communication ...), having 2 two-seaters or more (one performing the mission, the other providing close protection), as did the german was better. A single plane mission meant that whenever it was involved in combat (and even victorious), the 2 seater had to give up the mission. Only Army levels missions were given close escort and in this case, they were usually "safe" The french method of protection was actually similar "sweep" or "cap" : it consisted in having fighters patrolling a sector and attacking any ennemy plane especially those attacking 2 seaters "at work".

Not a complaint, because WOFF UE is already far more comprehensive than I ever could have hoped for, but I do miss the days when the devs were putting out patches and teasing the next new Add-on, Expansion or iteration of WOFF. I know they are hard at work on Wings Over the Reich, which has to be just a ridiculously large project from such a small development team, and that eventually its possible some of the advances for WoTR could make their way back into WOFFUE. I am certainly looking forward to that day! That said, the forums (both here and SimHQ) invariably become quieter after active development stops and many long time posters drift away into other pursuits and sims. I wish there was some way to put WOFF UE back front and center for active development. Coming to the forums used to have the same excitement as Christimas did as a kid. You never knew what new present would be revealed and you couldn't wait to find out. Now, it's mostly just quiet as even the modders have understandably slowed down some. /sigh. I miss the good old days. Some how, even though its unlikely, I hope there comes a way that WOFFs best days are still ahead of it. It's more than just the patches and the features. It was the people on the forum and the shared sense of wonder.

I was about to post about it, @UllyB, i really welcome your idea of making a whole new plane in a few weeks, we grinned with Martin for that timeframe and i really wish it would take that time, we had the same idea in 2012 and here we are with our Fitters, adding more and more details left, my message is: Don't discourage bro, keep going and as soon as i get my pc back, i may offer you my help in whatever i can skinwise, just don't discourage man, all good stuff take time ;)

please...consider making pit. We are at 2018...with bazyllions of aircrafts for this game...and personally ( In my own opinion) all new aircrafts or old ones with a new soul should have designated pits. I know it might take additional time....but imagine the happiness of us - users. We have all this fancy aircrafts...and all of them are using F series pits. I know. I know...But again after how many years...we should award ourselves with cockpits. And of course guys you are flying missions from the pit...not external view, right ?

I struggle with loadout and consult my map in campaigns all the time about using a pylon for weapons or fuel. I began only flying from the most forward base available (not an option for RL AF ops). Something not mentioned, and I had not really thought about until I read the book, Yeager, was the use of the tanks as an incendiary device. The General and Bud Anderson in their P-51s, would drop their tanks on targets in Germany (after the escort was finished) and then strafe them to ignite the fuel! I notice that when I ask my wingman to "attack my target" they drop tanks no matter what I ask them to attack, which makes sense (but I would rather they keep them until I either tell them to drop them or not, instead of telling them to radar on/off (what is that about??)). I ALWAYS keep tanks on un-contested bomb runs and dump them in A2A depending on the opponent (F-4 vs MiG-21 = yes, F-16 vs MiG-29 = after 3 turns, F-15 vs SU-27 = YES YES SERPENTINE, SHELDON!!). Mostly it depends on how the fight goes after the missiles are gone, or useless (AIM-9B, this means you!). We have the luxury that, if we get out of the engagement area, we can warp home which uses no fuel. In RL we would tank, but the game (after 10 years) does not support that (maybe that IS what warp does?). If I drop mine, they should drop theirs, otherwise, hold on to em. What do you think?

One story i would add from Korea War. When the MiG-15 entered the war, the supply situation with fuel tanks was bad. The soviet pilots got the order to drop the tanks only in emergency. On November 8, 1950 a single flying MiG-15, piloted by S.Lt. Kharitonow was surprised by an attacking F-80, flown by 1Lt.Russel Brown. Shortly after oppening the fire 5 of 6 machine guns of the F-80 jammed, but some bullits hit the MiG-15. Kharitonow now aware, that he was attacked dropped the fuel tanks. As usual with the early MiG-15 drop tanks some fuel vapored. For the american pilot it must have been like a deadly hitten plane. But the MiG-15 dived down, accelerated and escaped. For a long time in the western medias this was called the first jet to jet kill in history.

by Crusader, added from an old post of his in the SF/Wo* Forums -- Extract HUDDATA.ini and place it in the FLIGHT folder Add this : RWR will show up permanently for all aircraft that way It also works for aircraft which have no RWR display in the cockpit Just requires the RWR section in avionics ini and DetectSystem section in the aircraft's data ini. (note: if you don't know what these sections are, extract and examine the data and avionics inis of an aircraft that does, example: F-4E, F-4J, F-105D_66, F-16A, F-14A, F-15A for later TEWS equipped) To switch it off, cycle ALT+D game HUD modes. Or comment out the newly added statementy (image below has viewpoint scrolled up, to show the RWR window above the windscreen framing) Works in both SF/Wo* and SF2 series

In 3-4 weeks the SU-34 will be ready, my contractor assured me today, work already started. It will be flyable in SF1 and SF2 series and it will have three skins out of the box LOL. I'll keep you here posted with the development. I hope you will enjoy the thought that there will be a SU-34 brand new model added to the rest.
