Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19PFL 'Farmer-M' - 921st Fighter Regiment, Vietnamese Peoples Air Force, 1972 Even though Operation Linebacker did not start until May 9th, 1972 the build-up of forces was clearly observed by both the North Vietnamese military and their Soviet advisors. The build-up was also clearly felt by the North Vietnamese on April 10th following the first large-scale B-52 raid when 12 B-52s and 53 supporting attack aircraft struck several petroleum storage facilities around Vinh. This attack prompted VPAF commanders to report that, with only around 200 interceptors, they simply did not have enough aircraft to deal with sustained attacks on strategic targets in the North leading to President Hồ Chí Minh urgently seeking further assistance from the Soviet Union. The Soviet leader, Leonid Brezhnev, authorised the urgent transfer of 50 aircraft from the Soviet Air Force and US analysts were surprised to discover that these consisted of 30 MiG-17PF's and 20 of the hitherto unknown MiG-19PFL radar equipped interceptors. The MiG-19PFL's were pressed into service with the 921st Fighter Regiment based at Phúc Yên and although there were persistent reports that they were flown by Soviet pilots this has never been confirmed. A simple skin applied to the very inventive SM-12 by Cocas.

While patrolling the front today, I was attacked by this strange fellow - it seems that the Kaiser has a new instrument . To install, copy Stephen's DaVinci folder, rename as DerFlieger, and copy over the files included in the package below following the relevant file structure (the skin is Stephen's but I've re-colored a few things in Paint3D...should make for a good opponent to the DaVinci). The FM is similar to the DaVinci tweak but with slightly more pedal power and a slightly better ceiling, also a bit more weight so watch your dives since these things are delicate (top speed around 75 kph on this one from various tests near SL). Happy flying, Von S EDIT: Files removed, will be included in mini ver. 9.9 update of the FM pack under the relevant thread.

The more I work with First Eagles, the more impressed I am with the quality of TK's game engine. The parameters and methods built into the objects are so well thought out that the potential seems to be unlimited. His design makes it possible for VonS to create hyper-realistic flight modules and Geezer to make hyper-realistic planes - not to mention the many excellent skins, terrains, ground objects, and campaigns that are being produced. I am impressed that more than ten years later we are still finding new ways to apply his software. I am sure he never thought of something like this, but his design makes it possible. Even today, there is nothing primitive about First Eagles. The possibilities are limited only by how hard the modders are willing to work. We all owe TK our gratitude.

Since there is a Delta wing mirage topic...We can have a Phantom topic too - just because it is cooler than deltas... Rules: - Phantom on Fridays only. - so no Phantoms on other days than Friday. One picture per user and only on Fridays. Let's bring the best of aviation in one picture. Sorry for strict rules but Spook deserves it. - no discussions, asking, quoting, chatting, etc. there are other places to talk. - NO for what if skins, rogues, mercenaries, pirates, etc... - ok for phantoms that never were...produced, prototypes, etc... Eventually if one of the Administrators will visit this place please clean up inappropriate jabbering. Thanks in advance. If this topic is inappropriate please close.

They shall depict possible aircraft that could have entered service in the german air forces instead of the Starfighter (or "Widowmaker"; nickname from the german pilots). YOU WILL NEED THE DLC 17 MIRAGE IIIO FOR THE MIRAGE IIIEG. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Drop the folders into your Objects folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes. CREDITS Big Thanks to Thirdwire for the games and the superb models they have. Also thanks to Spinners. Without his help the decaling of the serial numbers would have taken ages. This work around works well! The dumping process is instantaneous instead of 2-3 minutes but it's more realistic than having no dumping at all so will include it in the CF-100 packages.

I'm working on a total makeover of the target set in SPAW. Part of the project involves moving the frontlines around for a couple of reason: 1 - I never liked the idea of having three SPAW scenarios, one for default, one for online play and one for the floatplanes. I'm going to try to combine the needs all three scenarios by moving the frontlines and some of the aircraft carriers. We'll see how it goes. At some point I'll need input from the online players but not just yet. 2 - I wanted to replicate a beach assault. I tried it in ETO2015 but I didn't know as much about the TMOD's dat files so I gave up on including it. Now that I have a better grasp of the data I got it to work for Guadalcanal. Here's a few screenshots to give you an idea: The invasion fleet- Jap fortifications in the foreground, Allied landing forces in the background- BTW, those puffs of brown smoke are shell blasts If you add this setting to the [EAW] section of your ini file you will get this affect ----- GroundBattle=1 Also, there is a date trigger in the TMOD.dat files. It was originally meant to turn on the V-1 launch ramps only in 1944-45 but it can be used to turn on and off any TMOD in any year. Meaning, this invasion fleet will only show up in 1942. In all other years this is Allied territory so there's no need for an invasion fleet off the coast of Guadalcanal. In addition to the invasion scenario I've produced a number of TMOD's that are elevated thus allowing for all sorts of new add-on targets attached to existing ones, like AA guns, carrier deck aircraft and deck cargo: One of the great things about the target editor is you can magnify the terrain down to a couple of feet, thus putting TMOD's exactly where you want them. For instance, here's a radar tower at the very top of a mountain peak: I have a long way to go. So far I have most of the targets in the Solomon chain and all the fleets upgraded to the new standard but that's only about 1/4 of the total number of targets. I'll post updates periodically as I come up with other inventive ways to use the vastly superior modifications available in the 1.6 development line.

I had some free time this week, so, just for fun I made one of Leonardo Da Vinci's flying machines. The wings, ropes, and pilot are all animated. The animations are tied to the engine, so you can use the throttle to control the flapping speed, and you can use "ctrl+I" to glide. You have to be careful when taking off or landing because the wing tips come very close to the ground. There is a cockpit view, but there isn't much to see except the pilot's hands. I tested it in both FE1 and FE2, in Easy and Normal modes. Put the folder named "DaVinci" into your Aircraft folder. DaVincisFlyingMachine.zip

Blohm & Voss BV 141NJ - Stab II/NJG2, Luftwaffe, Eastern Front, 1944 The female pilots of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment of the Soviet Air Forces flew harassment bombing missions against the invading German forces from 1942 onwards and soon gained the nickname of 'die Nachthexen' (the Night Witches) due to the surprise night-time attacks they skilfully performed in their wood and canvas Polikarpov U-2 biplanes. These nuisance attacks deprived German forces of sleep, keeping them on constant guard and had a wearing down, cumulative psychological effect on the German troops. Luftwaffe fighter pilots found it extremely hard to shoot down the slow U-2 biplanes which flew at treetop level at night and were thus very hard to see. Furthermore, the U-2s maximum speed was virtually identical to the stall speed of both the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 the principal fighter aircraft used on the Eastern Front. In September 1942, Stab II./NJG 2 established an experimental flight led by Major Heinz Schöpfel consisting of eight Blohm & Voss Bv 141 B-1 single-engine reconnaissance aircraft. With generally good low-speed handling characteristics plus an exceptional field of vision and with three pairs of eyes scanning the night sky it was thought that the Bv 141's could potentially be an effective counter to the U-2 nuisance attacks but early missions were unsuccessful. However, on the early evening of October 31st, 1942 Leutnant Otto Zabel and his crew shot down three of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment's U-2's and severley damaged a fourth. This caused the grounding of the regiment for the remainder of the night and further successes followed with another two U-2's destroyed in the air on the night of November 2nd plus two destroyed on the ground when Leutnant Gerhard Eisenach followed a damaged U-2 back to a makeshift airfield being used by the Night Witches and strafed the airfield setting two aircraft ablaze. Major Heinz Schöpfel shot down a further two U-2's on the night of November 5th and another on the following night. But, as the winter set in, the serviceability and spares situation of the Bv 141's became desperate and Major Heinz Schöpfel was soon forced to declare his diminished flight as non-operational. By early December, the Night Witches of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment had reclaimed the night and in the months that followed they would assist in the breakthrough of enemy defensive lines on the Terek River and support the Red Army's offensive operations in the Kuban River valley and Stavropol.

I'm using that page as my guide. I thought a few Ecole d’aéronautique (Cockatoo) aircraft pressed into service flying in an army communications role would be representative of 1940. The numbers should probably be in the 130-156 range to represent the last surviving air frames, although I have record of No.78 being abandoned at Oostende. Well, its posted.

View File Mirage III & Nesher Gun Sight Fix. Mirage III and Nesher Gun Sight Fix. This mod corrects the Stock Third Wire Gun Sights for the Mirage IIICJ Shahak, Mirage IIICJ Shahak (71), Nesher and as a bonus the DLC 17 RAAF Mirage fighters. I recently read the Osprey book Israeli 'Mirage and Nesher Aces' and 'Mirage III vs Mig-21 Six Day War 1967.' Both books are full of gun camera images of Israeli Mirage IIICJ and Nesher fighters killing MIGs. From these I realised Third Wire has made an error on all the Mirage gun sights by aligning the (horizontally elongated) aircraft reference cross with the gun bore-sight and thus the gun piper. In the Nesher and Mirage IIIO that leaves the actual gun bore-sight cross sitting above the gun piper doing nothing. This mod corrects the position and alignment of the aircraft reference cross, gun piper and gun bore-sight cross (Nesher and Mirage IIIO). This correction should be applied to any other version of Mirage III, Mirage 5, Nesher or Dagger you have that uses a Third Wire Mirage cockpit and/ or Mirage gun sight. CombatAce fair use agreement applies. Cheers, Dan. Submitter dtmdragon Submitted 05/03/2019 Category Avionics

More progress shots....the A-Team A5M4 data ini converted to an A5M1 for early-war PTO scenarios, and a rare high-alt Me109 E7-N (conversion of the A-Team E8), a small no. of which apparently were Japanese flown...should also be good for 1941 scenarios at least. Also tweaked is the Yak-1b (downtuned to the 1a, first batch of Yaks)...I think I got hit by shrapnel from the second fellow since my engine conked out...oh well, was able to dead stick it successfully. Now onto the Curtiss P-40 and other types. Happy flying, Von S

And just a few more representative pics for this thread - currently tweaking the A-Team Polikarpov (I-16, type 24) into an earlier "type 10" used on occasion by the Republic of China - should be good for late 1930s scenarios using the China and Taiwan maps - will also include real engine sounds with the FM pack whenever possible...the Polikarpov rattle is great fun while flying. SF2 is an unexplored goldmine of WW2 possibilities...never liked any of the WW2 flight sims until I picked up SF2...great stuff gents'. For those wondering about how I get the crisp terrain graphics in the pics, especially at altitude, grab the "ATISetLod" app (if you have an ATI card, for non-ATI there are probably easier ways to set the lod) at the following link (https://community.hwbot.org/topic/137720-benchmark-tweak-software/) and set the LOD bias entry to a value of "-1" while in administrator mode, and save settings (I'm running such a value and have noticed crisper terrains in FE2, SF2, also WOFF and ROF). View File Alternate Falklands Terrains Firstly I strongly advise that you install the Falklands_1982 mod by eburger & team. http://combatace.com/topic/74604-sf2-falklands-mod-redux/ Two new versions of the Falklands/Malvinas terrain. Hopefully most of the issues with the original are now sorted, coast lines have needed to be changed here and there and the terrain itself is much more uneven with more pronounced hills and mountains, two seasonal variations are included. Please read the readme....it really does have some useful stuff in it. Many thanks to eburger & the team that worked on the original mod. The Eastern front is usually sleepy but occasionally gives some fine skirmishes. Enjoying ver. 3 of Stephen's Galicia terrain below (looks fine even at medium settings in WineSkin on the Mac side and with the improved flight engine ini file installed - pics below are with dx9 only enabled). Now with the Aviatik C.1 FM modded, I can set up some flights against Be2c and Be12 types...recreating the goodness of the 70s' BBC show "Wings" . Happy flying, Von S
