(Personal diary & log) 23 November 1917 The weather has been atrocious the last three days. The hats kept saying '24 hours...24 hours'. Not sure these guys could forecast their way out of a wet paper sack. Spent the time helping the boys maintain my machine. I've taken up smoking. Mom will kill me when I get home. Maybe we can go tomorrow. The C.O was unusual this evening, coming around to our tent and having a brandy. The man even tried joking. He didn't even suspend me for having Smithers race around the field on the messengers motor bike, towing me and Naps on a toboggan while we drank the last of my rye from home. All the old man said was "Take better care you bloody Colonial." 24 November 1917 Mission 6--Clouds and rain but okay to fly. Tasked to intercept a flight of enemy aeroplanes over FF2224 (I don't know why I bother writing this as I'm sure it will get redacted). Again the thick clouds were the enemies best friend. Somehow we all missed spotting them and they bounced us around 1012h. Pfalz's by the look of them. They tore into us pretty good, I saw the old man buy it. May have been a control cable hit as he just gently swanned in. Bugger. I helped Naps pack up Chickering's things. Pretty silent evening. 25 November 1917 Mission 7-- Better day for flying although I'm feeling a bit gloomy inside. I can see now why the old hands don't want to know anyone. Routine patrol over Bupaume. No enemy today, I guess the sky doesn't favour them. 26 November 1917 Mission 8--The hats tell us the old man's replacement will be here in four days. Watch it be Swaggers. Our job this morning took us back towards Loos rail junction and yard. Apparently the recce boys picked up on some irregular troop trains arriving. As we headed there, Tuds spotted some enemy Pfalz's and we engaged. I'm trying to conserve ammunition for the strafing runs on the railyard so I got nice and close this time and fired probably fifty rounds out of the Lewis and shredded his wing. I didn't watch him fall because we were being swarmed by a second enemy squadron. Very protective of the rail yard today! The second group were mainly Albatross fighters and gave us as good as we gave. I thought I got a second kill today but my target managed to get away from me. When landed my ground crew pointed out a bunch of holes near the cockpit and some stitching through the tail surfaces. The attack on the railyard was repulsed today but it cost them. 27 November 1917 Received a dispatch saying I'd been awarded a medal. Total of two confirmed kills now.

11 June 2021 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, It is with great pleasure that we announce 2.7 has moved to DCS World Stable. We would like to thank you for your continued support and detailed bug reports. Today, we are also introducing a new Free to Play program that lets you evaluate all of our modules (aircraft and maps) for 14 days. You can play each module sequentially for 14 days or any number of them at a time. Once you have ‘consumed’ the 14 days, you will be given another 14 day free trial period for all modules six months later. Enjoy the offer and please tell your friends! DCS: F-16C Viper has been receiving some important attention. Recently, the GBU-31 and GBU-38 JDAM bombs have been added, and they are currently in internal testing. We are working at full power to iron out existing Air-to-Air Radar and Navigation System bugs, and these fixes should be released soon to an Open Beta. In April, we conducted preliminary CFD research of R-27 missiles family aerodynamics. The focus of this research was zero-lift drag correction and missile ballistic refinement. Please read our R-27 Missile Family Report. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Team Free Trials 14 Day Access Fly the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet for two weeks and then DCS: F-16C Viper for another two. You can download new terrains at the same time, whatever you fancy. Each module will give you 14 days to evaluate and enjoy them without any limitations or obligations. If you’ve tried a module and aren’t 100% certain about purchasing, you can re-evaluate six months later. Campaigns are excluded. And for all newcomers to DCS, you can benefit from a 50% joining discount on your first purchase, whether you buy one module or the whole library! Spread the news. We truly hope our new free to play system will give you the flexibility you need to enjoy each module and make informed purchase decisions. Thank you! We apologize that this offer cannot also be made available on Steam. Check out Free Trials F-16C Viper Development Roadmap In the next Open Beta, you will receive the GBU-31 and GBU-38 JDAM for the Viper! We are now working on fixing outstanding bugs related to the Air-to-Air Radar and Navigation Systems. Enhancements are also being made to the Flight Model in regards to available G and angle of attack modeling. Once we have addressed the critical issues, we will focus our Viper efforts on completing important Air-to-Air Radar functions: DTT SAM mode, bullseye, intercept steering cue, ACM Slew, and more. The Helmet Mounted Cueing System (HMCS) with the HARM Targeting System (HTS), Link 16, Air-to-Ground Mode, and IFF will also be integrated. The AGM-154 JSOW and the ALQ-131 and ALQ-184 electronic countermeasure pods are also next in line to be added. Supercarrier Deck Crew Development Report DCS: Supercarrier has received a number of notable updates to the deck crew that includes improved meshes and geometry tweaks: Plane director “Shooter” model has been edited to include skinning and geometry corrections. Improved mesh and skinning for the hands and gloves. A completely new and anatomically correct skeleton for the hands. The sailor head model has been replaced with a much more realistic one. The airboss model has been improved with improved hands and removed beer belly. Missing Level Of Details (LOD) have been added for all models. All seated and standing poses have been corrected and improved. Fixed excessive bending animation of the legs while walking. Fixed sliding legs. Fixed the intersection of arms and legs. Several new idle animations have been added for a more natural look. Mesh and skinning have been adjusted at the elbow area to reduce the effect of no mass. All the models have been converted to a new version of the skeleton that will provide more natural movements. R-27 Missile Development Report In April of this year, we conducted preliminary Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) research of the R-27 family of missile aerodynamics. The objective was the correction of zero-lift drag and missile ballistics refinement. As a result of this research, the zero-lift drag coefficient was reduced for all R-27 missile types. Please read our R-27 Missile Family Report. Thank you for your trust, passion and support. You make our dreams come true.

It's a first time for me, but I like the mixed bag of missions the sim throws at us; patrols, intercepts, strafing runs, and escorts. So far I'm finding the escort missions tend to bring the enemy up more often than not, although that second run at Loos was crazy with two separate enemy units trying to keep RFC 40 away. Heaviest losses so far. As an aside, maybe it's the time period and weather conditions but I've actually had a couple of pucker moments lol. I must say that this iteration of the sim is fantastic and you can really feel the fine effort of the dev team and testers.

28 November 1917 In which the huns beat us to our Harry Tates B flight is assigned escort duty for some recon RE8s from RFC 4 Sqn. We take off, gain our altitude and as we arrive at the rendevous point, we can see in the distance the Huns have beaten us our Harry Tates. McScotch turns to the attack and the 5 of us join him. By the time we arrive, several of the RE8s are missing and their gunners are doing their best to fend of the Albs. I spend a minute or two in the melee and in one of my turns I notice an Alb trying to seek away from the flight below me. I suspect he's been hit already and dive on him. I pull in behind him and manage to track him and fire off the better part of my Lewis's drum. Just as I'm think I'll need to re-load, I make effect with my guns, and he rolls over and crashes. I turn around and notice I've gotten a bit away from the others and head back for the airfield. The end result: 5 RE8s forced down. No-one killed; but several of the machines are badly damaged. We manage to get 6 Alb DVa's. Three are credited to 4th Sqn, and three to 40th (mine included). N.B. Sorry forgot to take pictures in the heat of battle.

1st Flight: a rather uneventful first sortie for our pilot. Their job was to do a quick patrol of their front lines. They didn't meet any opposition, but he was sure he had seen Jasta 30 flying in the distance.

05-Dec-17 0854 hours Spiv has survived 10 missions with 40 squadron and longs for the embrace of Gwendolen Turdlington. Strictly above board of course. Unless he can get some of them french letters. His 11th mission is a scramble. Nothing to report. Struggles to gain height to reach the nasty hun two seaters. He sees them in the distance tantalisingly out of reach and just can't get to first base. Blast the blighters. He loses B flight and returns to base thinking of Gwendolen. Jimmy Barnes and Quent Rogers go west. Too many stout fellows taken. It suddenly dawns on Spiv that Gwendolen may be related to the CO! That could explain a lot. He decides to definitely acquire some french letters. Right after the funeral.

Yeah because if you make them part of the map then we can't see them on the RWR and that would suck.

Yeah, that fighter jet scene is crazy. But I've read it's actually meant to be an homage to an amazing player feat achieved online in an older Battlefield game. That being said, I would never pay 70$ for a multiplayer-only game, it's just plain wrong. And of course, they'll be adding all that lovely MTX and loot boxes that EA craves about. I'm unimpressed by recent games. Battlefield used to be a decent series, but EA ruined it. Ubisoft has ruined Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six with childish games. I'd rather invest money on indie efforts in game development.

A very sad day for the Bulgarian Air Force. At 00.45h LT today a MiG-29A (9-12) of the BuAF disappeared from radar over the Black Sea during a night training mission. The crash site has been located with oil/fuel spills on the surface of the sea and small debris indicating the crash. The pilot is still missing, just an empty life jacket was found floating and the search and rescue operation has been unsuccessful so far. The chance to find the pilot still alive is getting slimmer every minute. My prayers are with him and his family.

3rd. First, I mapped Nimrod Mr.2. It is part of ODS 30 AE. But will be available separately in the download section as soon as I have a little more time. The second is VC-10 currently in mapping madness, painting lines, and making templates.
