Welcome to the club Bartleby... I would advice you to read trough the SF1/SF2 knowledge base and the mod & skining discussion threads, you will find how you can look at things and much-much more. Beside the above, download Mue's LODViewer which will enable you to see polycounts and how the models are structured, animations, etc. ------------------------------ Back to topic... Since young age I was scale modelling, then mid 90's I was overseas in the US and brought a package of 8 flight sims in a box, these required still to be run from MS-dos. In the early 2000-s run into Jane's IAF and USAF. In those years one of the gaming magasines had a copy of Stike Fighters Project1 included in its monthly issue. Played it trough several times, but I did miss the ability to jump from one airplane to the next like in the Jane's simulators to finish the objectives. Later on as the SF titles come out sooner or later brought them and strated to play with them more. Then run into the CA and Column5 sites and saw other birds could be built and added, so I thought, if nothing else than I can make some of my airplanes from what I'd drawn between 1990-2005 (215+ with 5 views) to be part of the game and fly them around. So started to fiddle with G-max, from there got deeper and deeper into making different objects, weapons, skins, etc. Later I only got SF2 when I had a new rig that I thought would be able to run all my siming titles and some of the shooters I played back in the days.

I bought the Strike fighters 2 complete edition about a week ago. I even installed Windows 10 on my computer for it. Everything else I do, is on Linux. I wanted the game because I desired a flight sim that let me bomb things and was in the sweet spot between an arcade game and a full-on sim like DCS. I chose SF2 because I had heard it was easily, and completely, moddable. I am really bad at games and view this sort of software as I would a model railroad; fun to play with but even more fun to build for. I have some experience with modelling in Blender, mostly designing military minis for 3dprints at 1/285 scale for wargames. I now want to bring some of my models into this game to play with and blow up. Here is a WIP of some AVF's from China. This is a procedural texture as a start before finishing painting and baking it to a lower poly model. ( that's a zsu-57, not a Type 80 SPAAG; wrong chassis) t Single player suits me perfectly as I can play how I like without lil' kids bitching about me on-line because I'm not very good at video games. Having fooled around with YSFlight, the game looks great, or at least, more than good enough for me. I wish it would run on linux or WINE or the like. I wish I were allowed to look at the LOD files I've purchased so I have a benchmark as to what quality work the designer expects by default; polycounts for the different lod distances, texture sizes, animation set-ups, etc., but it is what it is. It's enough to make me think that I should have bought IL-2 instead. No matter.... SF2 is a wonderful game. Too bad it seems mostly abandoned.

I was running the previous ODS mod, and I thought it was the pinnacle of what could be done with the series. I was wrong. Playing the newest version is like stepping into an entirely new SF, and it blows away the previous mod. And that is saying something. The level of detail and the immersive realism puts it in a class by itself. Just sitting on the carrier deck watching the undulating waves can be mesmerizing, let alone flying over them. The mod is, in a word...superb, and my hat is off to all the creators, contributors, and everyone that had a hand in this. As my daughter would say: "It's Bussin'". I haven't had this much fun with a flight sim in quite a while. If there was a 6th Star to be awarded, I would give it.

I have meant for a long time to say how much I appreciate your work on EAW. It has always been one of my favorite sims and to have it be playable in this day and age is just amazing. One of my prized possessions is the original printed manual for the game. They don't make them like that anymore. Keep up the good work!

SF2 F3D-2/EF-10B Skyknight by Coyote Aerospace 1/1/2024 -For SF2, Any and All (Full 4/5 Merged Recommended) This is the release of AngelP's F3D-2/EF-10 "Skyknight". It's being released as a "provisional Beta", due to the LOD needing more work. But rest assured, it's been 'tested to destruction', and other than needing a few more seperated meshes, is fully functional. The aircraft has been split into two differing birds, one the night/all weather fighter for the 1950s (F3D-2) and the Vietnam War era stand-off/escort jammer (EF-10B). Due to the need for certain types of electronics (avionics), 2 different cockpits have been used. The aircraft(s) include the following skin sets: F3D-2: VC-3 (USN) in standard overall Dark Gloss Navy Blue VMF(N)-513 - VMF(N)-531 - both in overall Night Black, USMC night fighters during the Korean War EF-10B: VMCJ-1 in standard Gull Grey/White Most marking are decals; excepting a few squadron flashes. Decal randomization is TRUE. As expected, as many Modex numbers as possible have been matched to their BuNums. These are marked with the star (*). Those unmarked could not be matched, or are just 'generic' in nature. Included are pilot figures, drop tanks (ini only) and the EF-10 gets external jammer and chaff pods. This aircraft is NOT carrier qualfied, although the wings fold with the Standard Animation Keystroke (tm), Shift/9, and the canopy hatch with Shift/0. When in-game, on the Aircraft Selection dropdown you'll see for each: F3D-2 Skyknight (CAF) EF-10B Skyknight (CAF) these will differentiate ours from any others you might (or most likely DON'T) have. As is always reccommended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. If there's any Notes, give them a read too! :) Wrench Kevin Stein Director of Marketing, Coyote Aerospace "We Aim Higher"

The biennial USAF World Wide Weapons Meet had began in June 1954 with Air Defense Command and Air Training Command being the sole competitors but by 1956 the meet was expanded to include nine teams representing seven major Air Commands and gaining the (then) unofficial nickname of 'William Tell'. William Tell 1965 was the largest in history with 16 teams and four categories but the demands and distractions of the Vietnam War meant that there was a five-year pause until 1970 when William Tell resumed at Tyndall AFB with twelve teams competing in an expanded competition with three teams in each of the four categories of jets competing at William Tell; the McDonnell F-101B, Convair F-102A, Convair F-106A and the new Saab-Fairchild F-13A with the latter being represented by the 125th FIW (Florida ANG), the 177th FIW (New Jersey ANG) and the 52nd FIW (New York ANG). The competitive flying ran from Monday, October 26th through Friday, October 30, 1970 and the three F-13A teams gained an early lead in the overall competition and the torrential rains in the middle of the competition only seemed to improve their position which ended with the 177th FIW from the New Jersey ANG winning the overall category and the F-13A category whilst the 125th FIW from the Florida ANG scooped the aircrew award and also the aircraft maintenance award with the three F-13A teams filling the top three slots.

To my eye the F-16 looks super imposed over the rest of the image, based on clarity of the F-16 and the non-clarity of the rest of image. If this was aerial footage then the rest of the video exists, why pull a single frame from the footage? Without the support of the remainder of the video I would error on the side of manipulated photo.

I asked in an other forum and got the answer from there, that the photo was taken in Poland during a dogfight training between polish MiG-21 and F-16. It is more believable than the story of Lebanon War.

is the gun camera part of the gunsight? I'm wondering at the field of view as seen. If not part of the sight, why is the reticle showing? I know WW2 gun camera footage is usually just the target and bullet strikes

I get the desktop crash at 80% on carrier missions if I change even 1 item in the loadout. It's a fresh install with no changes, running at 1920 x 1280 resolution. If I take off from a land base, there are no issues. Carrier mission? Cross your fingers. Try as I might, I can't seem to get this one worked out. Is anyone else seeing this issue? Update: Found it. Graphics Settings in a couple of areas were set to "unlimited." Changed them; that fixed it. Amazing what a little reading (instead of surfing PRON) can do for you.
