    The current Ouragan is one of the first successful mod for SFP1 ! I like it... a sort of vintage mod. However un brand new model would be welcomed !

    Fighters have in soviet designation systems uneven numbers in type name. All other birds have even numbers. So what if is your plane not.

    So, After completing my current contract with the Jordanian Special Forces, I'm finally getting my act together and heading stateside. Going to test the waters so to speak in Dallas, Texas. Got an old military buddy there that I haven't seen for years. Due to arrive at DFW on 9/14/2018, so if anybody wants to catch up for a beer, drop me a line. Will be staying for 3 months, see if I can source some work. Can't wait! AJ.

    it's isn't just ansi vs unicode again... that skin isn't white. your seeing the blank material of the model; which in 1stGens is white (actually very light grey) FE2/SF2 shows untextued material as black can you use a hex editor? You may need to. The only texture types SF1/FE1 can see are bmps (and tgas). It's simply not worth the extra work to make 2 different versions for the 2 game. Experience with SF2 tells us this.

    yakarov, are you saying something like this visual (was working it up evidently while you were posting) the red areas were what i was suggesting cutting, while the white areas are what i was sugessting a bluish gray for. the yellow is to highlight the shrink and space between the tower and edge of image

    If you will make it as a simple shape object with tga it will not cast shadows. I would make it as a solid frame then space between main construction 'fill' with simple planes with braces painted on tga.

    depends on material settings in 3max (transparency) Also on TGA format. Not all tga formats are supported by game.

    Oh! i have a full walkaround of the little beast as i live in El Salvador hehehe, as i once told Wrench, they never flew without them to my knowledge, the one with sharkteeth lays abandoned now almost back to silver and the only one that possibly can fly, has no qualified pilots to do so.

    to specify the above question a little more, is the model a solid model with the latticework painted on or a lattice work with a lot of open space? (the pic leads me to believe solid model) no format will extend past teh physical model (jpeg, bmp or tga) 30 second observation of the pic: cut the material out of the arches and the trapezoids in the middle out, then redo the white portions as a darker bluish gray. that should save the time of cutting out alll the space between every brace, but provide an illusion of transparency. finally, give yourself a pixel or two of space between the top and bottom edges. it will cause the decal to bleed out to the edges of the node. i use this fact intentionally when putting stripes on planes (airliners are big and most of the time the tga doesnt go all the way to the back end of the plane. the bleeding extends it past where it should end) but in your case like most others its a pain.cut your tower, paste it and shrink it to 98 or 99%. that should give you the space you need

    Your tga seems to be fine. It works perfectly as a decal on a plane - only the tower is visible. Pure guesswork here: Maybe tgas (or transperency of tgas) do not work as texture-file on a 3d-model?

    Okay so I often wondered if stuff went south on a flight. Can a passenger land the plane? One a big plane like hopefully there's a pilot qualified for the job if such a bizarre event occurred. I did come a cross an article once where there was a B-2 pilot on board such a flight where the pilot had heart attack and the co-pilot while inexperienced sought some help. Flight attendants were quietly asking if someone were a pilot. Which is how the B2 Pilot wound up in the cockpit. In the interview he mentioned that she was more familiar with the aircraft and after a women it was determined that she knew more than she thought and was able to land the aircraft. As much as I love playing various flight sims that range from DCS to MFSX I know full well there's a big freaking difference from a simulation and the real deal. Personally I've been in a few small aircraft IRL, a Cessna 375 twice, a Bell 206 once, DC-10, and a hot air balloon that was tethered, I did sit the cockpit of a C-5 though. Anyway that's limited flight experience. (the reason why my love of aviation is the way it is) Sorry for getting side tracked. The point is while I'm familiar with the basics of how things should work I often wondered how things would actually work out if such a nightmare were to occur. Then I saw this video which kind of answered the question. I say kind of because there are other variables I'm wanting to know about. If you haven't seen it already take a look. It's a pilot instructing someone, in a simulated environment, on how land the aircraft using the autopilot feature onboard the aircraft. I look forward to knowing your thoughts.

    In my opinion, autopilot is not difficult to fly at all. Altitude, heading, speed, and wings level are all set then initiate and the airplane will fly that input. Programming the FMC really isn't that hard and someone could easily walk a person through that and keep in mind the FMC is programmed prior to departure so it should still be up and running so it has all the critical data it needs and at that point the FMC needs very little to make changes, fly arrivals, change destinations, and so on. So if the airplane is airworthy and functioning as it should getting them to an ILS with glide slope shouldn't be that difficult. Getting the plane down then is really just setting the aircraft up to fly an arrival (speed, flaps, heading, and altitude) and letting the plane do most of the work including auto braking and auto reverse thrust (once armed or set). Now if they're asking a desk pilot to fly manually and expect a good outcome I think that is incredibly hard. The desk pilot is better off telling the cabin passengers to be excited that they'll be on the news tonight, then do the best they can with help to get it on the ground in any condition that most or all can walk away from. Most desk pilots I've run into have an impossible time flying a heading and keeping altitude manually let alone landing a commercial aircraft. Remember you don't pay pilots to be there when things are great you pay them the big money for when things go wrong, i.e. Sully landing in the Hudson.

    With history comes the good, the bad, and the ambiguous. I'm all for creative license and entertainment and even "what if" history (a lot of "history" that people think and feel they know is actually steeped in myth, propaganda, and legend). But I'm not for taking something and making it entirely revisionist so it fits some type of "modern" feelings or social narrative. Layman's terms: they better not f&^# this up!

    Riiiiiiight.... "historically accurate" (as said in the link). As soon as I say a a women's name in the cast, I"m already suspect (pointing back to the original with Heston's sons Japanese girlfriend and that whole diversion) So, lets see... cgi YORKTOWN class carriers; pretty simple to do cgi TBDs - pretty easy I guess. AND we might finally see them in a film. Same can be said for the Zeke, Vals, Kates, Dauntless and Wildcat (I'm not mentioning TBFs, as there were only 6 in the Real Battle). Good thing is, there are plenty of "original" or replica (IJN replica birds left over from Tora, Tora, Tora) Not gonna pass real judgement until something substantial appears.
