3 pointsIt seems we moved here so I registered to post my impressions thus far with this new edition of WOFF. I moved last Nov. and that was really the last time I flew so my memories are a bit hazzy but I do remember some things and can note some things just by flying about 5 missions thus far. First off the purchase experience was trouble free and pretty straight forward. Recieved the required emails for download almost immediately. The download clocked in at 9.6 Gig and took me but 14 minutes to complete. I'd rate this much better than any download I've done on steam or other services. The install I didn't clock but it took conciderably longer. There's a lot of files and if I had to guess I would say at least 20 minutes or more. I'll also note the latest patch was pretty small and only took a few minutes. As of this writing there's only 1 patch that fixes some runtime error and tweaks some color settings. For those considering a purchase write down your purchase number as you will be asked for it the first time you run the sim. I of course hadn't done this but luckily I still was able to alt-tab out and retrieve the email for the number. Next step for me was go into the workshop and set up my thrustmaster t.1000 and throttle. I generally like to remap some buttons to time compression and engine start/stop. I suck as a pilot so I tweak the settings to also use auto pilot and TAC options with lables. As usual I forgot to 'save' the remap when i exixted and had a joyful time trying to remember what keyboard commands turned this stuff on lol. Again remember to save when you remap. After that first flight where I fumbled with a fuzzy memory ---never did get auto pilot on but I managed to land without killing myself--I remapped again and this time "Saved". Yes it's like riding a bike. Not so much the flying but repeating the same dumb mistakes I made the first time I flew WOFF long ago. So I created 3 pilots. A french run, an ROF run and a Jaster run. Pretty much all started in 1915. The first one in January. ROF in august and the German on started in November. This is because I left season on 'any'. So that's how they generated. Some things I noticed right away was of course the new color photos, the 2 seater that placed the gunner right in front of me gave full view to the new turning heads. I noticed no stutters though I would say my FPS is a bit lower, hovering just above 60 fps most times. This isn't a top of the line system but a recent build with a good ASROCK MB with an I5 9800, 16GB RAM. A Nvidia 1660 ti using a 1 TB SD drive. I was generally in the 80s FPS wise on the older version. but then again I have everything set to 5 so there's that. As for odd things I've noticed. On my very 1st flight the text was so small it was unreadable with flight instructor and labels on. But it corrected itself and never returned on future missions. I'll note also the keyboard in workshop lists the pause key but that does nothing. ESC key is pause. Also in the old version you alway heard "contact' before you even appeared on the field on missions. That glitch has been fixed. I am so impressed I just paid about $200 for a Track IR 5 which I hope arrives within a week or so. As for the price of the sim? For me it's worth it because I loved WWI flight sims. I could care less about Multiplayer and I want immersion above all else. A dynamic campaign is king in my view. My first WWI sim was Knights in the Sky and of course followed by the Red Barons. WOFF to me is the ultimate for career and campaign. besides that I've spent as much for Cyberpunk 2077 which is a buggy mess and will probably never be the RPG that was promised. I'm still waiting after 9 years for anything resembling the game Chris Robert's promised with Star Citizen that was suppose to be finished in 2014, hundreds in any Paradox title with DLC purchases.....so as long as the game is your cup of tea and you can support a small dev in a very nitch market ....why not? anyway I just wanted to sign in and give some impressions. I really want to try to make it early in the war to war's end but i've yet decided what campaign/country/squadron to choose. Any suggestions as to your favorites?

2 pointsCrikey....lost from the get go....utterly disoriented by the searchlights....a flashing glimpse of the bad guys going who knows where. Awesome.....had to slink home using EVERY TAC FEATURE AVAILABLE...AND only then just squeaked into the field w/out having fired a shot. That being said...in our PE edition I could swan about regardless as my skills were pretty much on. So far w/ #2 I've bled all the way home EVERY time and had most campaigns end the first mission out. I love it. So clearly a new learning curve....a kick in the ass that has totally rejuvenated my interest. Well done devs. It's true...no stutters....and I decline to enable the Z key......who gives a tiny toss what the "frame rates" are as long as the sim plays smoothly. Bout time I paid attention to cunning instead of #'s. Thx....WELL DONE!!!!!!

2 pointsJust confirmed with WM (coder), Going home indicates they are basically running - usually because of damage to their aircraft. He said that was tested already in beta and when that was seen they showed damage (we use development labels). We may change the label though we shall see.

2 points22 January 1917 RNAS 1 - Johnny Sopwith is escorting two seaters towards home right after they complete their mission. Suddenly, they are attacked from behind by German Roland DIIs. The AI escort flight did exactly what it was supposed to do and broke off to engage the Rolands, giving the two seaters time to escape back home.

2 pointsI think you are looking at the wrong section. [LeftElevator] and [RightElevator] are the crucial sections: [LeftElevator] ... MaxControlSpeed=162.29 ControlMachTableNumData=4 ControlMachTableDeltaX=0.05 ControlMachTableStartX=0.86 ControlMachTableData=1.000,0.920,0.681,0.000 ...

2 pointsThe MiG-15s in the KAW mod probably have the "closest" to reality of the AI birds (for player use)

2 pointsAlso wanted to post a review from after my last mission, look at the details...Destroyed by friendly fire, collided with another Alb, great stuff

1 pointUsing quick combat, I flew and orientation flight in an early BE2. I managed to land successfully back at my airfield. What great graphics and I loved my observer being in front of me and pointing a .303 rifle back over my head!

1 pointView File B-57G Tropic Moon. This model is created from the old freeware AlphaSim B-57B which is a LOT more work than most folks realise. Pit is by myself but not 100% correct. Lots of ini work by Wrench......without Kev's help this model would not of made it to this downloads section. Read the readme and enjoy. Submitter Sundowner Submitted 04/12/2021 Category B-57

1 pointBasically it's because there are airfields close together so the AI in sim can detect more than one to land at and does not always return the correct one. It is what it is at the moment.

1 pointBeen flying this last days after downloading that patch and been enjoying it as a very nice flight sim. It has its flawsa yes, but in a lot of aspects it's more serious than Sf2, like wingmen use, the ATFLIR, etc. Loved the MECON management as well. Thanks for pointing me to it! P.S. There's something similar for EF2000, unfortunately that requires a legit EXE that I don't own, tried GoG, but no luck there.

1 pointFor A MiG-17F? Can't get closer than Fubar's MOD from 06. As far as 15's? Wrench is right! KAW 15's are spot on.
-
1 pointTry this MiG-17F data file. I think it is the most accurate.

1 pointYou need to look at CLaMachTableData= This; CLaMachTableDeltaX=0.10 CLaMachTableStartX=0.00 CLaMachTableData=0.973,0.975,0.979,0.988,1.000,1.016,1.038,1.066,0.201,0.001,0.001,0.001,0.001 In fact the 10th parameter is 0.001, which since the table starts at Mach 0.0 (CLaMachTableStartX=), and each parameter is an increase of 0.1 Mach (CLaMachTableDeltaX=), that's Mach 0.8.
-
1 pointYou already have it, It's the CVN-68. SF2NA does not provide separate carrier 3d models if they are part of the same class. The CVN-68 is the first of a series of Nimitz-class aircraft carriers. Inside the CVN-68_names.ini you'll find all other ships of the same class being named. Decals are dynamic according to ship numbers.

1 pointOh, the weather for my flight is frightful But the flying is so delightful Since the enemy's here i'll show (it) Where to go, where to go, where to go!

1 pointPopped into St-Pol and met some of the Naval chaps, they seem to think it was a good idea for me to take up one of their Tripehounds. What a nimble and sporty little beast it is too! It was a glorious afternoon... such a joy to be up there on such a day. On the way back to their drome I saw a train near the coast and chased it along for awhile... a nice end to an enjoyable flight.

1 pointI've had the pleasure of playing BHAH II most of today and can testify to how hard dogfights seem to be now. Had a run in with a Camel in QC and it was hard getting any decent shot in for ages and he nearly had me too. Loving the new landscapes and buildings, the new sounds and all the other improvements that have been made. Oh and I'm LOVING the goggles

1 pointWhile there were a lot of USAF F-4 pilots sent into the theater with minimal training and ordered to use poor strategy/tactics leading to needless losses, the USAF still had some outstanding pilots that were the equal of any in the Navy and the gun armed F-4E gave history something the gunless USN F-4s could not: a supersonic gun kill, reportedly the highest speeds involved in a guns kill in history with the F-4 at about Mach 1.2 and the MiG-19 at a 90 degree crossing angle at about Mach 0.77. Listen to the audio from that kill here:
