    Rudimentary "Visual Approach Slope Indicator" mod by Ryder7 for WoV sfp1. beta version. This mod adds a somewhat "VASI" light system to all WOV runways. I wish I could rotate the lights verticaly so I might have been able to duplicate a proper VASI and/or PAPI light systems, meaning that some lights would only show up above glide slope whereas others would only show up below glide slope, but since I could only rotate lights horizontally, I had to try something less realistic, but somewhat working and very simple in fact: In my system, you have two sets of lights, yellow ones are close to your estimated landing point, whereas red ones are located 400 meters before and 20.96 metres higher, so they look perfectly on line when you look at them from a 3 degres slope angle... Well, if my trigonometry is not wrong, school was a long time ago I'm affraid. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Plane * Red light o Yellow light Runway _____________________________________________ ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// If above glide slope, you 'll see yellow lights above red ones: °° °° ** ** If below glide slope, you 'll see yellow lights below red ones: ** ** °° °° If ON a 3degres glide slope, you 'll see the lights on line : **° °** ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Additionally, I put two sets of each lights, one left, one right on both runway headings, which provides you both alignment and glide slope visuals for low visibility situations, making it some sort of rudimentary not super accurate but better than nothing alternative for no ILS system in those games. // Limitations: -On night landing, those lights may look blurry and somewhat mixed with already existing runway lights at certain distances. -The closer you come to the runway, the less accurate this system becomes so you'll have to rely on your training for those last feet/meters before touchdown. This actually looks a bit like a real ILS antenna thing BTW. -On some cockpits and/or some aircrafts it may be difficult to see the lights while maintaining proper AOA/attitude/descent rate. (internal views only) -Also, depending on your display settigns, you may want to zoom the cockpit POV at its max level (F3 or F4 keys) in order to see those lights, but this makes it more difficult to watch your instruments in the same time. Well, this is not perfect, but I hope you'll give this mod a try and have as much fun landing with it than I got from making and testing it. I wish again it was possible to rotate vertically those runway lights, and also I wasn't able to add light to the carrier, it would have been fun to add some sort of "meatball-OLS" for carrier ops. Hopefully, more talented modders than I may come with solutions. Personal notes and thanks: This was my first mod ever published for those games whereas i spent so much time playing and messing with mods years ago. I moved for Falcon BMS that is incredible, but having less spare time for flight sims and homepits, I found back my WOV copy for quick and dirty gameplay with the cheapest joystick, and found myself having just as much fun with it as I did before. I just love those Thirdwire early jets and cold war era atmosphere, and one can learn basics, or come back to these games and try to play with more "realistic" procedures. Well, thanks to thirdwire, CombatAce, and the whole community for years of fun, hope my humble contribution will add to the pack. Cheers, Ryder7 from France.     Hello Gentlemen, I've been having fun researching the Skoshi Tiger programme and have tracked down most of the pilots in the "provisional" 4503rd Tactical Fighter Squadron- and have assigned their names as decals on the aircraft.. and have also added decals for some "outliers" including this particular aircraft which "borrowed" nose art from a marines Skyhawk aquadron! Not long to go now; would've been great to add a little more authentic capability to the F-5C, like the ability to jettison all weapon pylons; but this just isn't possible in game. I've got the documentation left to do now and it should be ready soon ..

    Since i couldn't find that parking spot in Atlantis, you've decided to send me off to find that 1 palm tree in Greenland, haven;t you? This link doesn't tell you which ones are there, but it will at least tell you where some of them were in 2016, but it leaves out where they are now. But I'll keep looking, even though both are probably on the East slope of Krakatoa.     you and me really need to talk id say you got the newer markings and i've got the older ones, except i did do both since there was a little over a year seperation between the two styles also, theres new ADFs coming at months end. B model and A model w/o the tractor beam that was on what i originally worked with did you put your Buccaneer head on skin or as tga? frankly, i should have gone tga myself, it was a PITA gettin him squared up on each side and each aircraft! (dammit, gotta fix that rescue mark on the B. number 93 on the list now.....)

    Went on to do a campaign with the O-1E Bird Dod in Korea. Have been assigned to a rare Armed Recon mission and i laugth when i saw what was my target :)

    apparently .... the coords are on the tank mesh! I had to d/l my VC13 Scooter to see how I did it last time!!! and it works .......................... now, off to make 2 full sets of serial number decals -- old style (0-*****) and VN era types (af/number/3large digits)

    Most of the code in SF2/FE2 (for multiplayer) is still there. The problem is that the Microsoft service (DirectPlay) that was necessary for MP to work disappeared sometime around Windows 7 and/or Windows Vista. Hamachi as far as I know does not work with SF2/FE2 so, theoretically, you would have to re-install and/or re-enable DirectPlay in Win7/8/8.1/10/11 in order to get MP working in SF2. DirectPlay, by the way, is required both for MP over the internet and for LAN. So, without DirectPlay, there is no LAN capability either. Here is a lengthy thread detailing a long (and failed) attempt to get DirectPlay working again in SF2 (as far as I could tell from the thread, it requires an awful lot of DLL editing and whatnot). If you wish to experiment using some of the info. in that lengthy thread, recommended is to download the "dplay.dll" (DirectPlay driver that's missing from later vers. of Windows), unzip it, and pop it directly into the game folder for SF2 (not into the user mods folder) -- and then continue experimenting. (No guarantees however that any of that tinkering will work.) The missing DLL is available here (at dll-files.com), if you want to experiment with a possible, working LAN in SF2 -- unfortunately I can't offer any more info. since I abandoned bothering to tinker with MP in FE2 (in my case) yrs. ago -- it just wasn't worth the hassle.     EDIT COMMENT: For SF2 builds... just ensure AvionicsDLL=Avionics70.dll in Objects\Aircraft\B-1R\B-1R.INI and you will at least have a functioning radar & some RWR sounds. AIM-120s work again. Now you have a self-escorting bomber and almost an EB-1C Megafortress out of a Dale Brown novel in SF2 builds.

    E-8A/C Joint STARS This mod builds upon the E-8C found in the original ODS campaign and corrects for an E-8A as used in Desert Storm. Included E-8A with skins for Desert Storm, Testing (92-95), and Bosnia E-8C with skins for the 93d ACW and the 116th ACW Georgia Air National Guard Installation unzip, cut/copy and paste to mod folder. allow overwrite (should only apply to ODS mod folders), although for best results remove the old E-8C files from aircraft and decals. Credits the original model and skin was created by The Mirage Factory, based on the 707 model by Bpao C-130 pit by dels Skin adjustments, tga and ini work by daddyairplanes original moddable game by TK Known Issues dels C-130 pit is used to make the aircraft player flyable. this pit is not very suited to the 707 airframe (alot of extra frame for a 707), but works for its purpose. The aircraft was not originally intended to be player flyable (airborne command and control not being a player mission set) and is best used as eye candy.     The Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye is an American all-weather, carrier-capable tactical airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft. This twin-turboprop aircraft was designed and developed during the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Grumman Aircraft Company for the United States Navy as a replacement for the earlier, piston-engined E-1 Tracer, which was rapidly becoming obsolete. The aircraft's performance has been upgraded with the E-2B, and E-2C versions, where most of the changes were made to the radar and radio communications due to advances in electronic integrated circuits and other electronics. The fourth major version of the Hawkeye is the E-2D, which first flew in 2007. The E-2 was the first aircraft designed specifically for its role, as opposed to a modification of an existing airframe, such as the Boeing E-3 Sentry. Variants of the Hawkeye have been in continuous production since 1960, giving it the longest production run of any carrier-based aircraft. The E-2 also received the nickname "Super Fudd" because it replaced the E-1 Tracer "Willy Fudd". In recent decades, the E-2 has been commonly referred to as the "Hummer" because of the distinctive sounds of its turboprop engines, quite unlike that of turbojet and turbofan jet engines.     il-38N "May" The Il-38N is an adaptation of the four-engined turboprop Ilyushin Il-18 for use as a maritime patrol aircraft for the Soviet Navy. It meets a requirement to counter American ballistic missile submarines. The Communist Party Central Committee and the Council of Ministers issued a joint directive on 18 June 1960, calling for a prototype to be ready for trials by the second quarter of 1962. The fuselage, wing, tail unit and engine nacelles were the same as the Il-18 and it had the same powerplant and flightdeck. An aerodynamic prototype of the Il-38 first flew on 28 September 1961,with the first production aircraft following in September 1967. Production continued until 1972, when the longer range and more versatile Tupolev Tu-142 derivative of the Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bomber had entered service.This is the Improved variant sometimes referred to as Il-38SD for Sea Dragon the new search and tracking system.     SF2 E-767 AWAC and KC-767 Cargo/Refueler Aircraft by Veltro2K = For SF2, Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED! = This is a Re-release of the Veltro2k's KC and E-767 aircraft. It is REQUIRED that you have -at the VERY minimum- a Full-4 merged install. However, the AWACs makes use of SF2NA coding, and is NA is REQUIRED for everything to (more of less) work properly. Also, as these reference the stock 3W destroyed model (closest fit in shape, but not size...). Hence, the need for a Full 5 Merged install. It is usable without, but you may not have the dead burning wreckage on the ground. Included in this pack are the: E-767 AWAC: 602 AACS, JASDF KC-767 Refuler/Cargo Carrier: 14 Stormo, AMI 401 Squadron, JASDF Skins remain in their bmp format; the KC-767 makes use of Brain32's trick of having the one skin, resued for both, residing in MAIN aircraft folder. Decal radomization is set to TRUE (well, there's 4 aircraft for each user!). A user list is supplied for the KC-767. New damage textures are supplied, in DDS format. The skins have been 'partly' redone. The partial template I used in included. Other skinners are encouraged to 'have at it' While this mod IS supplied with a cockpit, the Standard Waring Disclaimer ™ for these High Value Assets ™ remains: let the AI handle them. As AFR isn't part of the game ... the word we're looking for is "eye candy". As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, give the "Note" section a read, in particular on operational usage. The Legal Statement has been changed with regards to these aircraft. For those that still have the original releases, as there HAVE been changes and additions in several of the inis you may wish to examine, mostly in respect to SF2NA, you may wish to replace the originals with these. **These aircraft herein are released in "AS IS" Condition.     Br.1150 Atlantique by Velro2k = For SF2, Any and All (Full 5 RECCOMENDED!!!) = Re-release of the Veltro2k's Br.1150 Atlantique, now with some updates for SF2:NA. Inside are the following skin/decal sets: French Navy (22 Flottille) German Marinefleiger (MFG 3) Italian (AMI 41 Stormo) Netherlands Navy (MLD 321 Squadron) Pakistan AF (29 Squadron) Many new decals, (expecially the AMI version -with 100% accurate serial numbers-). Decal randomization is set to TRUE for all the skins. All markings are decals. A new FM (albeit not perfect, and requiring more tweeking by an expert!), weapons and avionics enhancements, etc and so forth! A new turbine engine sound, borrowed from Dels Hercs, lots of little tweeks and fiddles. Weapons are included; some you may have already, These all work (as of original release, 3/2012. Some may need additional tweeking/replacement for use in the post July 2102 patch level). As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!!
