    G'Day all, It's been a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working! This is my latest: the RAAF's new all through pilot training aircraft. 2FTS paint scheme: Bump and specular mapping: ARDU (aircraft Research and Development Unit) paint scheme: 1FTS and CFS (Roulettes) paint scheme: Finally, 4 SQN (FAC): I'm just doing some final touches on the flight model but I'm planning on releasing the aircraft with my AT-6 pit as a place holder while I work on a pit for it.     Supermarine Siskin F.1 - No.43 Squadron, RAF Fighter Command, 1956 The early 1950's was a difficult time for RAF Fighter Command. The obsolescent Meteor F.8 formed the mainstay of Fighter Command but it could barely catch the RAF's Canberra jet bombers and would have been hopelessly outclassed by MiG-15's if the Cold War had turned hot. But just at the time that Fighter Command should have been looking forward to receiving the modern swept-wing Hawker Hunter and Supermarine Swift fighters both programmes hit severe technical problems. especially the doomed Swift. Even before the decision to cancel the Swift fighter programme (taken in February 1955) the Air Ministry were looking for an 'off the shelf' purchase of an interim 'stop-gap' type and although the North American F-86 Sabre was procured in substantial numbers the desperately poor balance of payments situation with the US prevented further purchases. Dassault had previously offered the Mystère IIC to the UK Government and had been turned down. But in November 1952 an RAF evaluation team were sent to Istres to evaluate the Mystère IV and submitted an enthusiastic report to the Air Ministry who decided to place an order for 200 Mystère IV's to be licence-built by Supermarine Aviation with Rolls Royce Tay engines. Entering service in March 1955 as the Siskin F.1 this fine aircraft was used by RAF Fighter Command until the early 1960's with the subsequent Siskin FGA.2 fighter-bomber serving in RAF Far East Air Force until 1970.

    Having just moved into his new office, a pompous, new colonel was sitting at his desk when an airman knocked on the door. Conscious of his new position and wanting to show how important he was, the colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the airman to enter, then said into the phone, "Yes, General, I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir." Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young enlisted man, he asked, "What do you want?" "Nothing important, sir," the airman replied, "I'm just here to hook up your telephone."

    OK, now I'm officially frustrated. Had big ideas in terms of pushing the boundaries on terrain. But apparently the max no. of tiles that can be used in a terrain is 512...duhhh no more high-res mountain-peaks? FE-Gold here and using the wonderfull TFDtool Anyone knows? cheers

    A Navy Chief and an Admiral were sitting in the barbershop. They were both just getting finished with their shaves, when the barbers reached for some after-shave to slap on their faces.     OT..I know I know...and sorry for that Made an excursion last week to the old Austrian Fort 'Werk Serrada' or in Italian 'Forte Dosso delle Somme' In the background is the mount Pasubio (approx in den middle) in the distance The fort shelled by Italian guns and within the game ...not perfect..but it's there

    Hello everybody, There are holidays at the beginning of May in Russia, but to this day we have managed to release the important 3.002 update and its hotfixes. Moreover, we have found a temporary solution for our Russian customers who were affected by the recent mass blocking of the Amazon IP addresses (we use its web services). While one part of the team has been working on the update, others have continued the development of our next big project - Bodenplatte. For instance, we have reached an important milestone in the development of the new map. Evgeny Isaev, our lead landscape and game world artist, has this to say: It's important to note that the new map will be special and different (once again!). The set development time limits force us to find the ways to optimize our work, simultaneously increasing the quality of the landscape. This means we ought to implement new design methods, namely using digital geodata (with required historical corrections) instead of drawing by hand. This way we can save time, but increase the accuracy of the resulting map. At the moment, we already have the map with height data, rivers and forests. The result is not final, but it required a lot of work already. Now we're working on the settlements. It is possible that we'll increase their number in the course of development, but we'll make the decision when we have the major towns and smaller settlements ready. The airfields list is ready and we have collected enough information to make them. In addition, we have a general concept of how we'll texture the landscape for different seasons, but we'll give it a bit more thought.
