4 pointsPharaoh recce...with #2 for escort. Came in handy when three F-16 flights tried to intercept. I avoided two of them but the 3rd flight, a 2-ship, engaged. My #2 downed one with S530 and I got the other F-16 with a Magic. No pics, been too busy defending against Python 3 and 9L

1 pointFor your amusement I present the BAE Thunder FGR1.Following Britain's Brexit debacle, BAE were force to withdraw from the EF2000 Typhoon and look further afield for aviation partners. Obtaining a licence to build the initial J-10 from China with British avionics , weapons and an uprated EJ200 engine developed by rolls Royce, the low cost jet became the Thunder FGR1 in RAF service…. 1 pointView File SPYDER Sam System Rafael Advanced Defense Systems (RADS) SPYDER-SR The SPYDER (Surface-to-air PYthon and DERby) is an Israeli short and medium range mobile air defense system developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems with assistance from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) The SPYDER is a low-level, quick-reaction surface-to-air missile system capable of engaging aircraft, helicopters, unmanned air vehicles, drones, and precision-guided munitions. It provides air defense for fixed assets and for point and area defense for mobile forces in combat areas. The SPYDER launcher is designed to fire Python-5 and Derby surface-to-air missiles which share full commonality with the air-to-air missiles This model uses an Electro-Optical turret for target acquisition with a maximum range of 15 km for the Pyhton 5 missile and 40 for the DERBY. Instalation: ------------------------------------------------------------- Put the content of the objects/groundobject/SpyderSR_L folder in your mod folder. The game must replace with this system older AAA systems, so be aware. Also, you need to have the Python5 and Derby missiles from Ravenclaw_007 WeaponPack in the Objects/Weapons folder. You could find them here https://combatace.com/files/file/13929-weapons-pack-2/ Crédits : -------------------------------------------------------------- 3d Model: angelp Python5 and Derby Missiles: Ravenclaw_007 This addon is and will in all cases remain freeware, and is only allowed to be available here in Combat Ace Released under Combat Ace Fair-Use terms Submitter angelp Submitted 10/21/2018 Category Ground Object Mods

-
1 pointThat's right. I usually set up the tanker flying a Transport or Recon mission and move it's waypoints, altitude etc so it's near my ingress or egress route from the target. Then I can have some fun simulating tanking While my wingman either formats with me... or gets bored waiting for me and orbits us!

1 point@Caesar, thank you very much, sir. It is appreciated. Just looking at the old plane set, there is a lot of updating to do as much newer versions of just about everything exists.
-
1 pointI think it would also be nice to have a 2018 version of Operation Darius, with a more recent and accurate order of battle. But we would need to update the package with new planes, I guess. @PFunk I'll be updating the terrain package in the next weeks, because there was a nasty bug with Kharg Island Airport. Now it's fixed, so be on the lookout for the next version if you plan to repackage Op. Darius with it.
-
1 pointFeel free to use the latest SP F-14s - they've seen a lot of changes over the past 6 years.
-
1 pointThank you, I appreciate that. You're a good troop. The only thing I think I'd really like to do is use the existing plane and ground object sets and simply adapt the campaign files to use the new terrain and then give it native naval ops. It probably would be something very small, as in, just the .ini files for the campaign.
-
1 pointAFAIK nobody is working on it (we're slowly working on an updated Operation Desert Storm), so I'm very glad you want to update it with my beauty! Let's hear the others for permission, but I think that many would be interested in seeing how Op Darius works with the new terrain.

This Campaign use high resolution assets by the best and brightest on CombatAce and may be too much for some computers. There is no low res version. You have been warned. Year: 1980 Flyable Services: Royal Air Force, Royal Navy Carrier Operations: Yes Naval Combat: Yes Ground War Scale: Almost None What to expect: Air Combat Missions versus bombers and Long Range Fighters as well as a few naval support missions. The missions will be harder as time progresses due to attrition and supply. Story: http://combatace.com/topic/80769-battle-of-britain-1980-mission-briefing/ Installation: This mod requires Strike Fighters 2 Europe, Strike Figthers 2 North Atlantic and Expansion Pack 2. Install into the Strike Fighters 2 Mod Folder of your choice, usually found at C:\Users\YOURNAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFigthers2 While this Campaign and assets are made to work together with other minor campaigns and mods, I cannot guarantee compatibility. Allow overwrites or use a separate folder. For credits, please read (and actually do it too!) the file named "Credits". I could not do what I do without all these talented people! This campaign is dedicated to Paulopanz. -
1 pointRight, Chaps. Keep a lid on it and settle down. Today's briefing will cover the expected movements of the enemy. As you are all well aware, Central Europe has since the Russian Attack last year looked pretty much the same as the Great War we all know and love. Considerable NATO Reinforcements brought by the successful REFORGER Convoys but it came at a heavy price. The Opposition managed to seize Iceland, too late however to actually change anything. Scandinavia is effectively out of the fight after the Soviet push in that direction, but it seems they cannot spare the manpower for a direct invasion, settling to destroy their navies and air forces. Our sources have confirmed to us that the Soviets have decided to act in a rather different manner. Knowing trying yet another attempt to break the stalemate in Europe would be futile, they have decided to move in our direction. Soviet naval activity, including the Heavy Aviation Cruisers Kiev and Minsk has been put on alert, as has the rather considerable bomber fleets of the Northern Fleet. They are going to open up a second front by conducting an invasion of Scotland. To do so, they must suppress and destroy the elements of our Home Fleet, as well as you lads, the Interceptor Defence. The Queen is of the opinion that Ivan should have to reconsider this plan. As such, we are as of right now ready to repel the enemy Blitz to defend the assets and prevent the Soviet Invasion. Nimrods will be providing us with updated information about Ivans movements at Sea. Aside from the Naval Forces - and that will be the problem for No 12 Squadron out of Lossiemouth and 800 NAS off HMS Invincible - we can expect a considerable amount of Soviet Bombers to pay us a visit. Assume Tu 16 Badger, Tu 22 Blinder, Tu 22M Backfire - the usual lot - supported by Tu 95 Bear for reccie. Now, the Viggens and Drakens of Sweden taught Ivan the lesson that he needs to protect his bombers or lose them in large numbers, so do not expect this to be easy. Intelligence estimates that Tu 128 Fiddlers and MiG 25 Foxbats will be employed in the long range escort role. They cannot turn all too well, but neither can your Phantoms. Do not underestimate the capacity of these aircraft. To make matters more interesting, we expect them to be supported by Tu 126 Moss AWACS to lead them towards or away from us. Allied Forces in the area will not be of much use. A few E 2 Hawkeyes who survived the sinking of USS America has been lend-leased to us, crew and all and will be in support in this operation. They are smaller and carry the queens flag so you will not confuse them with the Moss. Survivors of the Royal Danish Air Force have relocated to the Faeroe Islands. We have established a support base for them at the local airport. While small in numbers their CF-104 Starfighters should be good in a crunch. Home Fleet will be lead by the Navy's new toy, HMS Invincible carrying 800 NAS. They operate Sea Harrier FRS 1. The Navy will also form all ships that can be spared into a Surface Action Group to assist in countering the Soviet movements in the Pond. Expect these assets to be the primary target of the Soviet Operations. That is all for now, Gents. Good luck and Godspeed!

1 pointSure yeah, a whole lot of editing. That's why over the past few years I've basically selected the flyable squadrons I want to deploy in a campaign, delete all the others from the CAMPAIGN.INI file (example): //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- //---- USN Units [uSNUnit001] AircraftType=F-8E_66 Squadron=VF111 ForceID=1 UnitID=1 StartDate=01/03/1967 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start.txt [uSNUnit002] AircraftType=A-4B_65 Squadron=VA163 ForceID=1 UnitID=2 StartDate=01/03/1967 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start.txt [uSNUnit003] AircraftType=A-4B_65 Squadron=VA164 ForceID=1 UnitID=3 StartDate=01/03/1967 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start.txt //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- //---- USMC Units [uSMCUnit001] AircraftType=A-4E_65 Squadron=VMA121 ForceID=1 UnitID=4 StartDate=12/29/1966 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start.txt [uSMCUnit002] AircraftType=F-8E_66 Squadron=VMF212 ForceID=1 UnitID=5 StartDate=01/03/1967 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start.txt //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- //---- USAF Units [uSAFUnit001] AircraftType=F-100D_64 Squadron=493TFS ForceID=1 UnitID=6 StartDate=12/28/1966 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start493.txt //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- //---- Merc Units [MercUnit001] AircraftType=F-86F-40 UnitName=1st Special Ops Wing ForceID=1 UnitID=7 StartDate=12/25/1966 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start.txt //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- //---- RAF Units [RAFUnit001] AircraftType=Hunter9 UnitName=1417 Flight ForceID=1 UnitID=8 StartDate=12/25/1966 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start1417.txt [RAFUnit002] AircraftType=Lightning6 Squadron=74RAF ForceID=1 UnitID=9 StartDate=12/27/1966 DescFile=Campaign3Start.txt StartText=Campaign3Start74.txt What could possibly cause problems are heavily modded stock aircraft, third party skins on certain a/c, and trying to have altered start dates for certains squadrons so as not to have the USAF, USMC and USN all starting the same day. That makes it a little more interesting. A campaign starts, say on dec 25th, RAF are in the area so kick on straight away. USAF turn up around Dec 29th, and the naval task force arrive on Jan 3rd. My EARLIER enclosed "CAMPAIGN3.RAR" shows this

0 pointsI don't know enough about campaign editing yet to determine whether there's anything wrong with yours, haha. I was surprised enough that I got the carriers to work in mine! My ultimate goal is to make a late 80s campaign using the Desert terrain; USAF, USN, USMC with their respective aircraft and such. The only problem is that the Desert campaign files are constructed differently from the other campaigns - instead of listing each air unit directly, because there are so many air units, each faction uses a base aircraft and then lets the game determine which squadron you fly for. It's a lot of text editing!
