Far away, into the clear starry sky... on the Moon... Farther away, a land of blood and ashes... that is Mars... I wasn't able to gain help from Stary regarding a texturing experiment in the TFD format. The terrains currently use a single yet nice tile texture. Both heightmaps have been remade from scratch, in order to overcome engine limitations explained in previous posts. Mars no longer features Vallis Marineris, but another portion of the planet with less elevation changes yet beautiful valleys. AI is limited to aircraft using custom userlist.ini files which refer only to specific terrain nations, which are United States Space Force, Russian Space Forces, People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force (Blue Side) and fictional Settlement Defense Front (Red Side). There is no need to edit the game's global _nations.ini file, it's all contained within the terrains' _nation.ini files. The terrains need specific ground objects for Moon bases and Mars settlements, and custom spacecraft and maybe even flying aircraft carriers. The scenario wants to be what if but somewhat realistic; I'd love fictional yet believable designs, not fancy ones.

Hi, Welcome to the board... I think it would be easier if you told us WHAT you want to modify... skins, weapon loadouts, flight characteristics, the model... Without these details your question (well, I presume it is one despite lacking a question mark and some 'decent' introduction and ending) I can only poit you to these threads where you can read stuff about modding and the game: https://combatace.com/forums/forum/268-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-knowledge-base/ https://combatace.com/forums/forum/270-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-mods-skinning-discussion/ Take some effort to search the site, and do some browsing and reading. I bet you'll find your way around and enjoy it! And good luck! Welcome here, and have a nice stay here at this looney bin! Muesli

Yes, it seems that all the files are completely consistent ... There is another option: try dropping these BMP screens into the main "Menu" folder (not the campaign menu, but the menu of the game itself).

Hello everyone, I must say that this idea sounds great, I always wondered if terrains like these were even possible! and I am glad to see that there is people thinking and working on it. It is correct, the way I introduced the hovering was by making an invisible landing gear in the 3D model at the desired altitude, in my case 300 meters above the ground. I also wanted to implement vertical take off and landing (reason why I used an F-35B flight model). I also wanted to use that to make flying static targets by making separated models of the ships but without engines in the game so I could get a starship statically hovering a city in the middle of a ground and aerial battle hahaha. All of this can be perfectly implemented to make stations and motherships (taking into account that they would not be "really orbiting" unless they were in an geostatic orbit). Eventhough I am not investing too much time in modding right now I was thinking that my next ships would be more from Stargate franchise or The Expanse, and after seeing this post I would like to contribute with ground objects or whatever!

Well I better post my Swing-Wing Saturday before it's too late on the West Coast: Yes, that's a Tornado F-3 in a scissors with a MiG-23. I decided to go with the Tornado F3 as I'm currently reading a book on the F3 by David Gledhill.

OK, so by slightly adjusting the ShockStroke and SpringFactor values for the nose gear I achieved a result that satisfies me. The aircraft has in my view a better stance than before. My current nose gear values are: ShockStroke=0.33 SpringFactor=0.6 The nose wheel sits well on the ground and during take off, the nose slowly gets raised, the shock gets slowly extended with the wheel staying on the ground until the shock is fully extended and only then the wheel leaves the ground. baffmeister, after checking your data.ini, I noticed room for some more visual improvements. The first one would be to add the correct ejection seat and we have the KM-1 seat from Florian's MiG-21UM mod (though the seat there is named KV-1, the correct designation of the ejection seat is KM-1 and KM-1M). The second one would be to add 3d parts created by Spillone104 and available here at CA, which consist of new pitot tube and engine detailing: The third one would be to make use of the APU-60-1 launch rail for R-60/AA-8 missile, which (if I remember well) Cocas was kind enough to build by my request: I have a Bulgarian MiG-21bis for personal use with the above improvements added. I am in the process of updating it with your data.ini, so eventually I will have your data.ini with my minor modifications to it to add the proper seat, Spillone104's details and Cocas's porper missile rail. I posted a screenshot of it on page 2 here with the missile rail added to the inner wing pylon. The proper stance in that screenshot was achieved by changing the CG position. Now with the help of the community I am happy to have that stance without negative effect to the FM.

Looks like something out of a Hunt for Red October scenario where Tom Clancy had A-10s on anti-ship patrol just-in-case... I also admit to some late night A-10 fun as if I was playing in a Red Storm Rising scenario, but with F-4Fs escorting my A-10:

Kelly's Heroes (1970) Kelly: Well Oddball, what do you think? Oddball: It’s a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers. Big Joe: Hey look, you just keep them Tigers busy and we’ll take care of the rest. Oddball: The only way I got to keep them Tigers busy is to LET THEM SHOOT HOLES IN ME! Crapgame: Hey, Oddball, this is your hour of glory. And you’re chickening out! Oddball: To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Tigers. Kelly: Nobody’s asking you to be a hero. Oddball: No? Then YOU sit up in that turret baby. Kelly: No, because you’re gonna be up there, baby, and I’ll be right outside showing you which way to go. Oddball: Yeah? Kelly: Yeah. Oddball: Crazy… I mean like, so many positive waves… maybe we can’t lose, you’re on!
