2 pointssomewhere around (or soon after) 1959, the VPAF started with some transport aircraft. No.919 Transport regiment had a gaggle of AN-2, Li-2 and IL-14. These are not what ifs, but real(ish) Here's a Li-1 "cab" from Paulo's Li-2 shin pak This is a rather generic looking Il-14 'Crate'. I found no information, other then the regiment, no picutres not a thing! ANd I can't find my copy of the Red Star book on the Crate that I used when Veltro built it!! So, it has stock 3W VPAF serials.

1 pointAwwwww maan, an Arkbird was my dream also, but lasers are a thing! And one of my first plane attempts was an ADFX-01 Morgan. Just for the record, I am a huge fan also, from Air Combat to AC infinity, yet I don't have a console to play AC7 :(

1 pointHey guys I just open my old external hard-drive and I came across with some old designs I made for SF2 and SF1 during almost a decade, almost none of them have been concluded but there is a lot of work done. They could be implemented on this mod I think (changed to belong to the different nations of this mod): First we have the always-ready-for-combat Terran marine with a generic texture. It managed to be in the fields of Dhimar with a flamethrower (firebat) version that I couldn't find. With their power-suit and gauss rifle it could also be the leading infantry in the Moon and Mars. But the marines need some help breaking the trenches on the planet surface, so I also made the Crucio siege-tank also from Starcraft (I had a time obsessed in doing starcraft stuff hahaha). This one also made it into the battlefield but without skin, both in tank mode and in siege mode (static and armed with an artillery gun). Even in other planets, air superiority will be a priority, a stellar fighter must be deployed as well: The terran wraith, which I managed to make it fly (with the obvious landing gear issue) and shot some cool red lasers around. Also without textures or decals... The cockpit was a problem because I have to estimate the size of the spacecraft and once I put the pilots on it turned out to be incredibly big. As I had to make it smaller I also discovered that it becomes very small with the right adjusment in scale for the pilots, which means, normal air to air missiles were too big to fit them inside the inner part of the wing. And finally here comes the big stuff... The mighty battlecruiser, which I used to learn how to make skins. It is more than a kilometer long and my idea was to make a missile to look like a huge plasma volley so it can shot its spinnal plasma cannon (along with a handful of automatic defense turrets of course!) at very long ranges. Before the starcraft stage I also had the Halo stage, when I made my first big boy, the typical human frigate, my intention there was to also make its spinal magnetic cannon work by a very fast and powerful missile with a huge fire effect hahaha. This one made its maiden flight lots of years ago in SFP1 with its automatic turrets functioning. But that was much for me to handle by the time... I didn't even know I made it flight in the first place! And last but not least, I also have a Ace Combat stage (the first one of all actually), so in order to defend a lunar/martian capital city from enemy battlecruisers there must be a mighty and powerful anti-aircraft system that is worthy of the name "planetary defense". The Stonehenge cannon! I remember making an early stonehenge facility in Desert terrain, far away in the south were there is a magnificent cannon, deep enough to fly it through avoiding a lot of air defenses until you reach the other side of the mountain range near the facility! I simply used them as a SAM site (I think I took the Patriot missile launcher .ini) and made them shoot very fast, nuclear missiles with a waaaaay oversized shitty explosion effect made by myself since I didn't know aerial nuke effect existed... I dreamed of making a whole stonehenge facility and put them in the middle of Paran, so you could see squadrons disappearing from the radar as the stonehenge cannons attacked them (obviously at enoooormus ranges). Dhimar and the United States will send them several raids to destroy them little by little (as they could be replaced). And if you were lucky enough to conquer the facility with ground troops you could kick the last enemy air forces easily! The one of the picture is an updated version I made for SF2. And that is all folks! I have more crappy things (attempts to make ace combat futuristic fighters, floating cities, alien fighters, flying 36km-wide saucers independent day style, tunnels where you can fly inside to destroy things...) but not worthy/successful to be shown hahaha, I always thought it would be great to merge all this stuff in a single sci-fi mod may be there is a chance here (for a veeeery futuristic scenario). What do you think?

1 pointMy Tigermoth templates were NOT as complete as I first thought, so I had to finish off redoing all the lines I took Lloyd's Vichy TM, and simply painted out the single number, and gate it 18 "plane-in-squad" decals. A simple, if probably NOT historycally accurate fix. I may load this as an update, if it's waranted. Menrva sent me a link to the 2 real TMs taht Boa Dai had, and became the first aircarft of the Viet Minh. But, I'd already done this one. Standard "day camo" over silver dope. 18 generic numbers More into the What If... since Mao is already sending help in the form of the Yak-9s, why would they neglect the strike/assault elements? Here's an IL-10 from the "10th Volunteer Assault Regiment" (or whatever!! :) )

1 pointI don't know, how to map or animate stuff in Max...so no comparison possible for me, sorry. My Impression of mapping in Blender is, that it's no rocket-science to map parts. But it can be hard work to get complex parts unwrapped the way you like, but I guess, that is a general problem and not blender-specific. I've started to play around with Blender again after some break (and started a new plane...as always...N-102 Fang this time) and it is fun again and one can learn new stuff every day. I hope to someday find solutions for every problems I encounter within the modelling and finish a plane. Everyone should at least once try to build something and see how difficult modelling easy looking things can be.

1 pointThe answer i got from the former east german MiG-21 pilot was: "Such thing we definitly had not had. And i have never heared, that the soviets used UPK-23 on MiG-21."

1 pointbumpin this back as im on a slight pause with SAC and ANG Bones while i get some research done on McConnell my thoughts on this, units:a repurposed 85 Wing (Southern Bomber Command rather than Air Lift Group) featuring No 12 and No 460 or 467 Sqns. 460 is currently an intel unit, but with the return of 4 engined bombers i think it would get renamed and the historically signifigant unit resume flying bombers. No 12 was part of the original 85 Wing as they were gearing up for Japan in mid 1945. me thinks an RAAF getting Bones in the late 2010s would be more nostalgic than one gettin them in the 90s Serials: while Spinners features A43 series, it was allocated to RQ-7 drones. A55 is not allocated (as of 2019) and the last 3 digits could simply be the last 3 of USAF serial like with the Pigs. how many are we envisioning transferring and when? tail markings: maybe a kangaroo with a cruise missile silohuette? skin would be all grey unless your telling me they got em before 95 JosefK, will let you do load outs and any localized radar or EW work, though will try to get exhuast edits to ya as soon as i have them on the _86. as it is currently, just isnt as spectacular as on the real thing or even videos of such

1 pointI have to agree with Gepard. No wiring for gun pods in the wing. At least I do not remember any. It might be that in some countries technicians rewired wings to carry some custom stuff. For example in Poland, technicians were doing that. But it was not common and appeared only in one unit...then aircrafts were rotating between units. Which created confusion and belief that it was common practice., wherein fact only a few airframes were modified.

1 pointModelling software is out there and accesible for free...blender...for example...maybe if some learned to model we might have more of what people want....some are too busy to drop stuff and remodel old stuff....just an idea. I knew fuck all about moels ,but after some tutorials such as mustangs....I learnt quick....and was able to get out basic models quite soon thereafter ie Tjet and the moth and early P47 N version so its doable im NOT having a go or a moan ,just its easy once you know basics of 3ds max....and each time you make summat you find ways to do it better and quicker....im by no stretch of the imagination an expert...still amateur, but im happy with most of what I do....and still learning. if you decide to try....watch tutorials...there are great simple ones out there...they even supply model to try and to look at to see how its done.... if people willing to try im willing to offer any assistance,as im sure will other modders.
