4 pointsI'm a day late, his birthday was yesterday, but I wanted to post this. https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-52472132 This man is an inspiration to younger generations. His will is extraordinary. He's done so much for his community and nation at a ripe old age. His service during WW2 was not enough in his eyes. He pushed himself to new limits, and proved to the world that the elder are an important part of our communities. I admire him so much, as much as I despise those who believe that losing an entire generation of elders due to coronavirus is acceptable losses. People like him devoted their lives to give us a better world, free from the chains of brutal nazi fascism. They deserve better respect from all of us. They also constitute a memory we must never forget, of the darkest days of Europe. And how from that darkness, their courage and service brought a beacon of light to show us the way. Happy birthday, Colonel!

3 pointsSit rep: The color of the small river and the Themse in London area does not really fit. Thatswhy i'm reworking the small rivers to give them a dark, more natural looking color. Screenshot is showing a WIP old (light blue) and new color (dark) of small rivers. after repainting the small river tile looks more european than before. I decided to make the small river tile as JPG, instead TGA. A JPG tile has a size of around 300 kb, a TGA has 4.097 kb. The workload for the computer was to high, so that it could happen, that during dogfight with many planes the fps rate dropped significantly. With JPG it does not happen.

3 pointsBaby steps , dont expect it to all fall into place overnight , even some of us so called experienced skinners/ modders run into road blocks and issues at times , the sim lay out and structure is pretty logical though , and 99.9 times out of 100 the mistake made will be of your own making, but stick with it and you will soon be wasting countless hours and days , bashing away at it , only to realise you spend more time modding/skinning , than actually flying the sim ......be warned !! lol lol lol

1 pointIts a nice addon for the new Battle of Britain "Operation Seelöwe" terrain (WIP).
-
1 pointyou need to map. Like anything else.. So if you want 'reflection' of pilot on canopy top left-right front..you have to map those positions on a bitmap. Reflection actually, in my opinion, is quite a fuzz in SF2. It is still image....so despite your position and position of the sun...reflection is always the same.... That is why I am not sure if some detailed reflection is good on gauges..etc...just my personal preference. despite the environment, you will have 'reflection' there Could be better to do just glass with some cool glossiness.

1 pointThe effects are devastating!!! Big explosions and big holes in the ground... VERY funny to use!

1 pointSomething weird...the KF2 Super Gun! This thing is massive! And seems to work like a rocket pod...

1 pointThe best thing to do therefore is to make a copy of your user directory/folders for FE2 - store them somewhere safe - and then start FE2 without the user directory in its expected location. This will "build up" a stock user folder. Then, some quick flying to check if exhaust effects are present for such aircraft as the SPAD and Fokk. Dr.1 that come stock in FE2 - this will rule out any possible corruption with effects/files in your custom user directory for FE2. Hopefully we will be able to narrow down where the problem is. Keep us posted. Von S

1 pointOne of the few good things to have happened since this COVID thing blew up.
-
1 pointThe first one is a remod of Gepard's Israel 2 terrain, which is of Real World size. The other one is a rebuild of the stock TW's Isreal terrain included in SF2I, which is roughly 60% of Real World size (stock SF2 terrains are smaller to compensate for the lack of air to air refueling and to provide more packed action). All in all, if you're looking to play the campaigns, the stock terrain with Stary's tileset will do. To make campaigns work with those packages you showed, you'd have to edit campaign files. Look for eburger68's campaign expansions, there are so many for different terrain scenarios. They are comprehensive of many changes and additions, providing more more aircraft and more historically accurate units for campaigns. Here below the ones concerning Israel: EDIT: to answer your first question, there is no ultimate Israel terrain. Wrench's remod of the stock terrain is great (and might work with stock campaigns as it is), but it misses additional high resolution tiles to work together with Stary's tileset.

1 pointTrust me, I've modded the hell out of the base game and even done some total conversion mods. What baffles me is modding base game aircraft because I am still not certain about how file structure works with those since everything is hidden away in those neat little .cat files. I find myself thinking do I extract this? where does it go after I extract it? will the file being in another place screw with the file structure and I'll have a vantablack F-4 forever? I pointed out the F-106 first as I thought I'd use a mod plane to gauge my skills and then move to fiddling with other things once I got more info, since all of everything is in plane (ehehe) sight.

1 pointAs you can see superb results can be acheived with Gimp, which is FREE But it does come down to personal preference , I do still believe GIMP is more complicated to use, but that may just be my perception , but free is good !! another useful tool is Paint.net , which is also free , and I find better than windows on board paint programme , other VERY VERY VERY useful tools are Mues tool box , which is available here on Combat Ace , in the downloads section , and therefore is.........Wait for it............FREE and is an indispensable set of tools for ALL modders and skinners alike , also read the how to do stuff guides in the forums, there are a lot of very useful guides and hints , that will send you off on your merry way rejoicing, and you will be banging out new skins before you know it !! Finally if in doubt ask , you may be told in some cases to go and look it up in the forums , because we encourage you and any new member to do this. knowledge is power .
-
1 pointNot really. I'm not an expert but I can get by with Gimp just fine. Also, the Lod viewer helps a lot!
