I have uploaded the Sopwith Triplane. Ojcar took the time from his very busy schedule to tweak the FM. I want to thank him for that. The plane has two skins, one for the French and one for the British, with a full set of decals. I spent some time tweaking the cockpit and skins. I also improved the landing gear animations.

The Sopwith Triplane, also known as the "Tripe" or "Tripehound," was introduced at the end of 1916. By mid 1917, several British and French naval squadrons were equipped with the plane. The narrow chord of the three staggered wings gave the pilot an excellent field of view and gave the plane an exceptional rate of climb as well as outstanding agility. The Triplane was considered an exceptional fighter and stayed in service until replaced by the Sopwith Camel in late 1917. Captured Sopwith Triplanes inspired the development of the more famous Fokker Dr.1. My model of the Sopwith Triplane has the smaller tail assembly introduced early in 1917. Earlier planes had a larger tail plane nearly identical to the tail of the Sopwith Pup. My plane is equipped with a single Vickers machine gun mounted on the fuselage. A small number of Sopwith Triplanes had two guns. My Sopwith Triplane has two skins, one French and one British, with appropriate decals. A fully functional cockpit is included, along with my skinning templates. I have included a sound file for the Clerget 130 hp engine, but you may already have it. Credits Although he's very busy these days, Ojcar found the time to make the FM. My thanks to him. The sound file included with this plane came with Sinbad's series of Sopwith Strutters, so you may already have it. I included it with this download in case you don't. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "SopwithTriplane" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. My Triplane uses the sound file that came with Sinbad's series of Strutters, so you may already have it. If you don't, copy the file named "RotaryEngineClerget130" from my Sounds folder into your FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "SopwithTriplane" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folder named "SopwithTriplane". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/SopwithTriplane folder into the Decals/SopwithTriplane folder you just made. My Triplane uses the sound file that came with Sinbad's series of Strutters, so you may already have it. If you don't, copy the file named "RotaryEngineClerget130" from my Sounds folder into your FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't want to bother people. Sometime just a copy-paste in 3D Max seems too much asking. On my instal, it's not enough to solve the problem as the aircraft stalls when slowing down under the stall speed. So I had to edit even more to have something similar to the stock Harrier (stall speed and stall behaviour). Hard mode settings If you're open to suggestions, you can rework the GunPod mesh, because it is not symmetrical and the plane doesn't fly straight when used. Hard mode settings And mostly, if you don't try by yourself you don't learn And I learned by doing many edits on this great model and it was really good fun !

MIG-31A Foxhound The most capable Russian air defense interceptor aircraft, the FOXHOUND has a multiple-target engagement capability and was the first Soviet fighter to have a true look-down, shoot-down capability. The key to the MiG-31's effectiveness is the SBI-16 Zaslon fixed phased array antenna radar, codenamed 'Flash Dance' by NATO, which is said to be the world's most powerful fighter radar. The new Soloviev D-30F6 engine was specified for the MiG-31 in order to improve range, the key performance parameter for which an improvement over the MiG-25 was demanded. By 1987 over 150 FOXHOUNDs were operationally deployed at several locations from the Arkhangelsk area in the northwestern USSR to the Soviet Far East. The FOXHOUND is dedicated to the homeland air defense mission. The FOXHOUND carries the long-range AA-9 air-to-air missiles, and can engage 4 different targets simuitaneouly with the M-9. 3D Model (Veltro2k) Cockpit credit goes to the creator unzip ad folders to their appropiate places...have fun THIS MODEL IS ONLY TO BE DISTRIBUTED AS FREEWARE AND IN NO OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL IT BE USED, EVEN IN PART OF ANYTHING THAT IS PAYWARE. Some progress shots, getting the fuselage finalized so I can move on to the wings and such: http://flanker56.com/SF2Screenshots/wip281.jpg http://flanker56.com/SF2Screenshots/wip282.jpg http://flanker56.com/SF2Screenshots/wip283.jpg It should be noted that I had to take some liberties with the patterns as they don't match up compared to the illustration and the 3D model, so I'll do my best to get it lined up but overall it'll look as close as possible.

this is an awesome thread. i always knew about the winder rails/pylons. most pics i'd ever seen had wingtip tanks, fuselage winders and bombs and rockets under the wings. never knew the fuslage could carry a2g ordinance outside a nuke centerline

Something like this? 5 minutes in notepad and max.... Did any of you try to contact modder to address those issues? By the way...to one of the posts above. With data from this mod vertical take-off and landing is already possible.

Yes, i got kicked out of the unit after i messed up my collarbone a bit, but got back on track and I'm back on NCO/WO training as an Electronics Specialist (it is going to be hard). I could still get a slot back in the unit once i graduate and get back to jumping, but i would be mostly in charge of a maintenance workshop fixing radios, NVGs and stuff. That Herc is looking great, still my greatest real life Hate-Love affair with aviation. Kind of nostalgic having them replaced with A-400Ms. I might PM you about the F-4J_74 by the way, I made a Northern Sabre campaign back in the day just to play with them. While i didn't include the mod in the pack itself, i had a couple of edits done wich might be interesting.

Indeed ...hitler was obsessed with defending the islands he poured men and equipment in to defence and spent a lot of time manpower and concrete in ithem...you should see how much latter there is...Churchill wasnt intreseted in getting them back as he looked at as they were taking up men and equipment that could have been used in normandy etc...so was happy hitler mad error of wasting so much effort and supplies etc...

The Sopwith Triplane is in the final stages. Ojcar is working on the FM. Meanwhile, I'm finishing the skins, finishing the number decals, making the LODs, and tweaking. I'm also playing around with the landing gear animation, as Quack suggested. I have it working, but I'm ambivalent about the way it looks, I'll keep playing with the numbers.

I would like to recommend this get added to the KB (unless it's already there and I missed it). I've seen a lot of posts here and at other sites lately asking about this... In Strike Fighters Project 1 and the other “1st Gen” games in the TW series (Wings Over Vietnam, Wings Over Europe, Wings Over Israel), any mods or addons were dropped into their respective folders in the game’s main install directory. That is no longer the case with the “2nd Gen” games (Strike Fighters 2, SF2V, SF2E, SF2I and SF2NA). Any mods or addons you download for the 2nd Gen games will most likely include a reference to a “mod” folder somewhere in the readme, where the user is supposed to put the downloaded files. However, there is no folder (nor should one be created) called “Mods”. The following is to help you understand what the “mod folder” is really referring to. When a 2nd Gen game is first installed, the game needs to be run at least once so that the game can create the “mod folder”. After the first time you run the game, a set of directories will be created in one of two locations, depending on whether you’re running XP or Vista/Win7. Assuming you ran the .exe for Strike Fighters 2, the directories created are as follows: WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Effects C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents \ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Sounds C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents \ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Decals C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents \ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Pilots C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents \ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Weapons Vista/Win7 C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Effects C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Sounds C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Decals C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Pilots C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Weapons So, most of the time, the term “Mod(s) Folder” is referring to the “StrikeFighters2” directory in the example above. When you run the game, the game will look here for any files or addons first before pulling files from the main install directory. If you ran Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, the directory would be “StrikeFighters2 Vietnam”. If you ran Strike Fighters 2: Europe, the directory would be “StrikeFighters2 Europe”. Etc, etc… An addon or mod will usually have Effects, Objects, Campaigns, Terrains (etc..) folders contained within the zip file that are supposed to be dropped into your “Mods Folder”. You would drop those files into the StrikeFighters2 folder (in the example above) and allow to overwrite when asked. Notice that some folders are not created when the game is run the first time, and you may be required to create those folders first yourself. Prime examples being …\StrikeFighters2\Terrains and …\StrikeFighters2\Campaigns. There are too many to list all of them, but you get the idea. If the readme tells you to drop something into a directory that isn’t already there, make sure you’re looking for the right thing and that it really is missing, and then just create it yourself. Now, there are some more advanced applications of this, where you can create duplicate game installs and mod folders, or you can even change the location of your mod folder. More advanced stuff is covered here: http://combatace.com...knowledge-base/ And in this sub-forum, which can easily be missed: http://combatace.com...knowledge-base/ I recommend becoming familiar with the basic “Mod Folder” concept I went over above before diving into the more advanced stuff.
