11 pointsThis is to all the modders of First Eagles. TK gave us the basis of a WW1 sim. There wasn't much to it when I bought it, all those years ago, for TK is was a change up, I guess, something different from jet sims. Then, the modders here stepped up to the plate and knocked that slow pitch out of the park. As we used to say in my Babe Ruth league, "That one's in the weeds, you ain't gonna find it." Yesterday, I flew my Halberstadt Cl.II over the lines and took out some Schneider CA 1s. This sim is amazing today, and it's all due to the work of the modders. My thanks to you all.

-
4 pointsEither this has been abandoned or TK has got so enthusiastic when revisiting SF2 that we'll be blown away by the changes.

3 pointsThanks to all! The skins are not 100% done in the shots but now is completed. Just waiting on VonS corrections on some small FM flaws present. Reminding that this plane was designed for trench busting and artillery spotting, so no ordnance were ever carried. For the trench strafing task , the initial design included a pair of downward machine guns. The plan was to fly at very low altitude along with the trench strafing everything below. An unique feature by the way!

2 pointsIf you mean those strange wing vibrations that happen occasionally, those were implemented on purpose - since the all-metal wing tips were sometimes known to vibrate. I will however look over the wing alpha/lift nos. either later today or tomorrow - since it is a heavy aircraft (empty weight around 1760 kg) - and I can barely manage to get it to about 2000-2050 meters altitude. Theoretical ceiling on it is apparently 4000 m - I somehow doubt that number - but I will work on the lift values a bit more at any rate - if I can get a practical ceiling out of the Junkers that is a bit closer to 3000 m alt. or so, I will be happy. I will also look over the over-compression on the engine again, overall power output, and the top speed. The top speed of 155 kph typically listed, I am "guesstimating" here - is probably top speed taken at alt. - as I have tried to model in the FM. (I did also try the other variant of having the top speed at SL close to 155 kph - but then the Junkers barely manages to get to 1000 m alt., etc.) I may also try to reduce the stall nos. on it - that may be the simplest solution without too many other alterations since it will be of benefit to other things too, such as the max. practical ceiling. Will post a fresh data ini for it once I'm done with a few experiments. Von S

2 pointsYet this 'iron' was not an attack plane. The Tin Donkey was an army co-operation plane, the contact-patrol machine and a low-altitude scout. The main task of the German J-types is to monitor the actions of the enemy and friendly troops on the line of contact. The weapon is for defense only, although the gunner could throw small fragmentation bombs. The CL-types is much better as an attack plane, which has been demonstrated in practice ...

2 pointsThanks very much everyone for all these wonderful aircraft and skins. I was wondering if any of you talented creators would be interested in having your work converted to Combat Flight Simulator 2. There is quite a bit of interest in WW1 going on there at the moment. Many new aircraft have been released along with new Flanders scenery. There are also new missions in the pipeline. Keep up the good work! Kevin

2 pointsView File Mirage F1BQ Mirage F1BQ This mod is dedicated to BPAO, nothing would have been possible without him. Two-seat trainer for Iraq. 18 ordered of which 15 were delivered between 1980 and 1989. The extra seat and controls added only 30 cm (12 in) to the length of the fuselage, but at the cost of less internal fuel capacity and the loss of the internal cannon. The empty weight increased by 200 kg (440 lb), partly due to the addition of two Martin-Baker Mk 10 zero-zero ejection seats. Aircrafts 4609 to 4614 came into service in 1988 and later. A big thank to all on Combatace and C6 forums that helped us solving issues we encountered. Any omission in credits is totally unwanted, if I forgot somebody, let me know, I will correct this. This addon is and will in all cases remain freeware. Released under CombatAce Fair-Use terms. Enjoy The Mirage F-1 Team. Submitter ludo.m54 Submitted 01/31/2021 Category Mirage F1

2 pointsThe answer to the third question is most likely negative. But I have an answer to your first two questions. 1- Just rename your songs appropriately and drop them into your "Menu" folder: BaseScreen.wav CampaignScreen.wav CreditsScreen.wav DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilled.wav DebriefSuccess.wav HangarScreen.wav LoadoutScreen.wav MainScreen.wav OptionsScreen.wav RecordScreen.wav SingleMissionScreen.wav You'll want to put your wav in the "Flight" folder to call Loading.wav and a screen called "LoadingScreen.jpg" 2 - You also should create many JPGs for the "Menu" folder: CampaignScreen.jpg CreditsScreen.jpg DebriefScreen.jpg DefaultBaseScreen.jog DefaultEndScreen.jpg LoadoutScreen.jpg MainScreen.jpg MissionEditor.jpg OptionsScreen.jpg PilotRecordScreen.jpg PlanningMapScreen.jpg RosterScreen.jpg SingleMissionScreen.jpg Titles.jpg

1 pointI have searched the forum and found some good information in the SF1 forum and I have put them all in one document, most likely there are some changes over time and others are missing that I didn't find please feel free to edit and add your comment and information to this document so we can have one that we can refer to. 1 pointEnglish Wiki is wrong reference at this point for the F-4. The data you recieved from there are for the Me-109G-6. Here is the entry from german wiki, especially for the F-4: Bewaffnung zwei 7,92-mm-MG 17 über dem Motor (je 500 Schuss, ausreichend für 25 bis 26 Sekunden Dauerfeuer) und eine 20-mm-Maschinenkanone MG 151/20 mit 200 Schuss (ausreichend für etwa 15 Sekunden Dauerfeuer, durch die Propellernabe feuernd) Translation: Armament: two 7.92 mm MG-17 over the engine (each 500 rounds, enough for 25 to 26 seconds permanent firing) and one 20 mm Machinegun MG151/20 with 200 rounds (enough for 15 seconds permanent firing, shooting trough propeller)

1 pointDear friends, Today we have mostly images for you. Soon we'll be able to share news on the Battle of Normandy progress in various areas, but today we can show you the first in-game screenshots of Fw 190 A-6. This aircraft will include the assault modifications G3, G3/R5 and Sturmjager and is planned to be released in the coming update along with the new graphical effects and aircraft AI improvements. And here are the screens on what we're working on at the moment, the feature that all the previously released BoX projects will benefit from:

1 point@crisisloaner None of the above replies applies in this case. I had this issue while working for ODS, and it was never mentioned so far. For some reason, the game stopped reading some of the custom aircraft even if the entire files are there! It was crazy. The only solution was to copy them over from a backup folder I had. I suggest to recreate the mod folder, by simply renaming it and fixing the path in the Options.ini file, as well as renaming the executable that is used accordingly. It's a real mess IMHO. I have a huge install spanning from 1948 to 2018, I probably gathered all possible aircraft (no fictional ones, but many prototypes are in it). I count slightly more than 1,500 aircraft folders. I did a lot of work to unify many aircraft folders and remove any duplicates (there's no need to feature both stock aircraft and their third-party replacements, as well as there is no need for many different aircraft folders if the only thing that is different in them is the skin).

1 pointI couldn't resist, so I'm skinning and fixing the Mobelwagen. In a day or two, depending on my wife's mood! Sometimes I rather been working than retired!

1 pointTrue. The soviet designer who later developed the AA-8 Aphid (R-60) said once: The AIM-9B Sidewinder was our missile university. The soviets learned all how to make a IR missile. In the 1970th an east german MiG-21 lost a R-3S (Atoll) over the Baltic Sea. West german frogmen found the missile and west german weapon engineers tested it. Afterwards they said: "The Atoll is a very good copy of the AIM-9B Sidewinder". They put it on a rail of a F-104G and the missile worked very well.
-
1 pointIn practice the Sidewinder system is pretty self-contained, with the coolant in a long conical, almost needle-shaped bottle inside the launcher. Compare and contrast with Britain’s heavy IR missiles, Firestreak and Red Top, which needed considerable internal electronics packs in the carrier ac. Indeed with some relatively minor wiring mods, can hang Sidewinder on just about anything::. RAF Nimrod MR2 - they got their Sidewinder fix in a just a couple of weeks during the Falklands War

1 pointGreat additions Wilches, thank you for those. I'm including a slightly modified FM (data ini) below - to reflect more accurately the U.S. Liberty-powered Breguet 14 - about 100 more horses than the Fiat-powered Breguet. Top speed on this one is around 195-6 kph below about 500 feet alt., also a slightly higher ceiling of about 6200 m compared to the 6000 m of the Fiat-powered one (20,400 feet or so compared to about 19,600 feet). Slightly longer reaction time on the rudder and elevator on this one too, since it is somewhat heavier with the bigger engine. Otherwise, nearly identical flying characteristics. For scout pilots who feel that the Breguets are too tough to shoot down - I recommend commenting out the following entries under the [Fuselage] section: HasArmor=TRUE ArmorMaterial=ALUMINUM Armor[FRONT].Thickness=2 Armor[BACK].Thickness=2 Armor[ - RIGHT - ].Thickness=2* Armor[ - LEFT - ].Thickness=2* Armor[BOTTOM].Thickness=2 * Added dashes to right/left armor entries, otherwise it formats as right or left in this post. Further, I am using the Hispano 220 sound for the Liberty Breguet and the Fiat sound (1910s/20s Fiat car engine in that sound clip, by the way) for the Fiat Breguet - so tweak those values as per taste in the relevant section of the data ini. Also, double-check service dates towards the top in this latest data ini that I'm including - and again tweak to taste and/or compare with Wilches' numbers in his tweaked data inis - since I usually alter the dates for my installs to stop at Nov. 1918. Happy flying, Von S EDIT: link/package removed - see the relevant post above, near the top of this page.

1 pointBecause the AA-2 ATOLL is a reverse engineered copy of the AIM-9B Sidewinder I believe that any aircraft that could carry one could carry the other. As I recall the Finish Air Force carried Sidewinders on their MiG-21's without the need for any modifications.
-
1 pointthe problem was not so much the wiring the missiles are conneced with a quick releas connector to the launchrail , the launchrail in the beginnig was the AERO-3B and was used for the AIM-9B only all other AIM-9 including the AIM-9B used from ca.1966 onward the LAU-7A the wiring on the aircraft side was not so much a big deal some aircraft like the F-86 did get to a later point the AIM-9 capability other aircrafts like F-104G and F-4B or F-1 had from the beginning the capability some AIM-9 like the AIM-9C was only used on the F-8 others like the AIM-9D/G/H are only used by the U.S. Navy ( some are exported ) the AIM-9E/J/L/M/N/P are used mainly by the USAF and the NATO partners and Israel , but theoreticaly can a USAF jet launch the Navy AIM-9 and vice versa

1 pointDon't worry, I did not take it that way. I really want to portray the helicopters in the campaigns at least for the AI, but the AI does have trouble with them as well, not to mention that you need fake runways from which they can take-off. As long as they are treated like normal aircraft, they'll remain as additional objects for mission creators. If you wish to make them flyable, you can. Most helos and cargo aircraft already contain proper cockpit files. Just keep in mind that I don't offer any support for them at this time. I hope TW gets back into the game and unlocks the hidden potential of the SF2 series, but until then we're limited to what the game can do. @Viggen The issue you mentioned has been fixed, it will be included in a future re-release. Hopefully only a handful of bugs remain. The massive amount of content implies that more bugs can happen. Despite that, the team has done its best to reduce them to a minimum. With time we can only polish the product even further.

1 pointThanks for the update, team, hope the file will be approved later, so I could fly the aircraft after work :-) By the way, I have a question about the French Mirage F1B. Most photos I have come across show the aircraft in what appears to me as a more dull or a darker shade of blue-grey color on the side and upper surfaces as compared to the skins in the mod, which are in a brighter blue color. Is that due to aging and weathering on the actual aircraft, or due to difference in lighting/camera effects, or is it actually a different camo, applied during the later years of service of the aircraft? What confuses me in the picture of the actual aircraft is that most markings appear to be with good contrast, as if freshly applied, which does not match with an aged/faded camo. To compare, here is the Mirage F1C_82, which I believe wears the same skin as the Mirage F1B available (I apologize, I cannot take a screenshot of an actual Mirage F1B at the moment).

1 pointHello and Happy Happy Holidays to everyone, I wanted to take a moment and wish you all a blessed holiday season with happiness and health for you and your family throughout the new year to come in 2021. It's times like these that we look back in amazement and disbelief of the times we're living in. 2020 was hard on everyone and if things could go wrong it went wrong in 2020 with Corona Virus and Politics being front and center here in the United States. We've now spent months away from family and friends in isolation as we have learned to live in our new normal. These are unprecedented times that I for one will never be happier to put behind us. 2020 was especially hard for businesses and I feel fortunate that CA survived for now. Over all our donations last year brought in $615 to offset operating costs, thank you to all who helped out. Our advertising dwindled to almost nothing, specifically we received 28% of what we made in 2019 for advertising income as advertisers ran from expenses and businesses failed. Our subscriptions saw the lowest year on record and our cost of doing business went up 9.5% in July as costs of failing businesses got passed on to those of us who remained. This was definitely the year not to remember yet still with all the horror and red ink we consider ourselves lucky to still be standing. Yes it was bad for CA but there are many of us who saw worse times this year. People stood in voting lines and food lines here in America during a pandemic for the first time ever. We lost loved ones around the globe as we were divided with fear and misinformation. Jobs and businesses were lost all over our countries leaving tomorrow uncertain for many but throughout it all in a weird way we found some humanity. We reached out and helped where we could and lifted lives and spirits, I hope that continues. In the spirit of giving this season CA will be donating to Feeding America, Covenant House BC, The Trussell Trust UK, Banques Alimentaires FR, Tafel Deutschland, Leket Israel, and UNICEF to help feed those who need the assistance this winter. I wish we could do more but we're hoping doing our small part contributing to the whole is what matters. Merry Christmas everyone, E
