6 pointsLockheed Starfighter F.3 - No.29 Squadron, RAF Strike Command, 1984 Delays in the UK's Tornado ADV programme lead to the RAF upgrading 38 Lockheed Starfighter FGR.2's to a new F.3 standard featuring the uprated J79-GE-19 engine (developing 12,000lbs dry thrust and 17,900lbs with afterburner) and the improved NASARR R-21G/H radar with moving target indicator and continuous wave illuminator for the Skyflash semi-active radar homing missile. Entering service with No.29 Squadron in 1980 the Starfighter F.3's remained in service until 1991.

6 pointsHello Crawford and other FE2 fliers, Lots of hard work happening behind the scenes on this Bleriot XI model - but Swambast has been busy with real work and other duties, as have I - so we don't always have an opportunity to work regularly on this model. Keep in mind that the mods. are free so don't expect quick turnover times/releases as for paid sims. - then again, paid sims. aren't always good with deadlines either. We prefer to spend more time on a mod. but to do things as best we can, rather than rushing to release a rough product that will end up being more work in the long-run since it will probably require revisions. A lot of time was also spent researching what would look most historical as a Bleriot XI of 1912-1913 vintage and powered by the 6-cyl. Anzani engine. As a mere data ini cruncher, I will keep supporting Swambast's efforts on the Bleriot whenever he needs help/suggestions. A few pics. below of detailed work on the 6-cylinder Anzani, also other odds and ends - currently being worked on is the wheel/gear assembly - then it's onto the rigging wires for the wings, skid, tail/rudder section, etc. Once this project is completed, FE2 will be the only WW1 sim that has a 6-cylinder Anzani-powered Bleriot of 1913 vintage approximately. Exciting times ahead for FE2. Also, Geezer has kindly sent over his previous files for the two-seater Bleriot to us as well - I will let Swambast figure out what/when changes will be applied to that. It's possible that a two-seater Bleriot of about 1914 vintage will also be released sometime in the future, after the Anzani model - but I can't make any promises regarding the scheduling. I will update this thread again much later, over the next several months, once the Anzani Bleriot reaches flight-testing stage. Happy flying, Von S

4 pointsRAF Starfighters? So to whom did Lockheed pay their “commission” in Britain? 😉 Sidebar: wonder which had the shorter range, Starfighter or Frightning? Important in the competition to be first back to the bar..

3 pointsI found this video so I thought it's worth sharing with you all. This video focuses on the much mis-understood smoothing groups in 3D Studio's Max. A firm understanding of smoothing groups separates the n00bs from the pro's. This tutorial also covers the relationship between smoothing groups and mesh smoothing. A must watch for any new modeler wanting to truly get to that next level!

2 pointsVonS, take all the time you need and thank you for your work. Now, how did these jalopies get off the ground in real life? And how brave, or insane, were the men who got into them in the belief that they could?

2 pointsSo in my everlasting quest for how much BS i can get away with in Vietnam, i felt like starting a what-if campaign. IRL, Johnson asked Franco for some sort of Spanish support againt Communism in Vietnam when the war started. Franco sent a letter back, telling him that the US would loose the war because communism looks great when you are piss poor, and sent a Field Hospital, but no combat troops. So i thought "What if he pulled something ludicrous such as sending HA-1112s (Bf109s with Merlin engines, as seen in Battle of Britain) as COIN aircraft?" Lacking HA-1112s, got the stock Avia S-199. Turns out...you can outMiG the MiGs

1 pointI am not into 3D modelling, but if I remember well, this phenomenon started appearing with the second gen games and is being referred to here as a "tractor beam". Just search the forum for threads where "tractor beam" is mentioned. Here is an example:

1 pointbiggest problem with 3d Max is that we are limited with DirectX 9 because up to 2009 10 isnt supported . When i switch the viiewports to X 10, everything looks clear except the tools you need to MOD .that is why I personally see as a majopr break through an exported that works with more 3d max progeams.... 11 . and so on

1 pointTurn the Casts Shadow=True to False. that will solve it , also make sure that your pilot isnt set to cast a shadow either, I have found that to be a thing too sometimes.

1 pointHello everybody, Another week has passed and our work has moved another step forward. The Collector AAA vehicle, 25-mm automatic gun installed on the chassis of the GAZ-MM truck will be finished soon - the physical model of the truck is ready, as are the automatic gun animations and functioning, all animations of the chassis and the crew as well as gun ballistics and damage model are also done. The correction system for the gunsight that turned out to be incredibly complex kinematically is in. The unique audio and more detailed tech of the tires visualization and deformation are icing on the cake. All these elements have something new and are believed to be interesting for the end-user to familiarize with and learn something new. At the moment we're improving the visual look of the new vehicle, the texturing of the gun, and apply the new DVD tech we talked about in our previous Dev Blog to make the result the best. Meanwhile, a part of our mapping department works on improving the railyards on the Rheinland map (Bodenplatte project). They aren't the most striking or shiny detail of the numerous cities on this map, but they do improve the overall visual look of the scene and make the landscape more realistic. This time we can show you the screenshots of the railroad structures in the cities of Cologne, Brussels, Bonn, Duisburg, Liege, Mainz, Frankfurt am Mein.

1 pointPart 2 Went out to bomb Vinh's runway. I wasn't sure two S-199 could carry enough payload to do the job, so i got 8. When i dropped my bomb, and waited to see if the rest of the flight could get some more hits, i managed to hit another MiG-17 and shoot an aileron off. However, he flew away, and started getting chased by two Crusaders and a Phantom that wanted to steal my kill. So here we have an F-8 crawling up on him, while another just breaks off after wasting all his ammo, since he is a dogfighter and can't hit anything if it isn't turning. Then there is a Phantom who almost shot his sidewinder into the first Crusader. Meanwhile, the Spanish pilot thinks about how his life led him to this moment "I could be flying an F-104 back home"

1 pointWhat you really want is for your OS to be on the SSD along with the game files. That will provide you the smoothest game play in any situation. If your SDD is the same size as your HDD then you can just transfer the entire disk image from the HDD to the SDD. Here's a helpful guide: https://mobiletrans.wondershare.com/how-to/transfer-os-to-ssd.html

1 pointThai revenge, a raid on North Vietnam. Flew with Sidewinders and left the bombing to the other flight. Spraying a MiG with .50s until they go down feels quite rewarding. Shout out to all the mod artists that make a game this old look this beautiful
