    SF2 T-34A Mentor (USAF) Upgrade Pack by RussoUK/Wrench 1/12/2023 -For SF2, Any and All (Full 4/5 Merged plus Expansion 1 Reccomended) Mofications to RussoUK's fun little T-34A Mentor (USAF) make some major and minor adjustments in skins, decals, data ini and other misc stuff. This is the full aircraft, with all the bits as issued by Russ in the original release. Just in case you don't have said original release, you won't have to go scrambling around trying to find the "weapons" (ok, drop tank) pilots and sounds. Also, because I was/am too lazy to pick out and remove stuff. Easier this way :) Both the NMF and NMF/Orange skins have been redone with a lighter shade of pale metal, all new historically correct decals. It should be stated that the serial and buzz numbers, while historically correct, are generic in nature representing no particular base unit or squadron. The SF2 Date SWtich (tm) is active, and will cause the skins to change on partucular dates. The names in quotations "xxxx" are how they will appear on the game's Drop Down Menu on the Loadout Screen. The skins are: NMF (Early - starts Day 1) -- "USAF NMF (Early)" NMF/Red-Orange (Late - starts 1959) -- "NMF/Red-Orange (Late)" USAF 3-tone SEA came (1965). This is a non-real skin; I suspect the original FSX/? version is based on a Warbird, privately owned Mentor. However, the markings are correct for the time frame. They represent 80th Flight Training Wing at Sheppard AFB. --- "80th FTW (F)" Most markings are decals; exceptions would be wing insignia/nation names. Other markings are decals, and Decal Randomization is TRUE. There are 18 serial/Buzz numbers for each aircraft. The 2 NMFs use a 'pool' of the same numbers. The Camo uses the correct style for the Vietnam Era. The "F" in the title obviously means "fake". The aircraft keeps all it's original designations, so will appear the same in-game as the original download. When in game, on the Aircraft Selection Dropdown menu, you'll see: Beech T-34A USAF (R) Hopefully, this will diferentiate it from any other T-34A Mentors that may (or may not) be available. The "R" stands for RussoUK, the model maker. As is always reccomended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions.     Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia - 1st Aviation Regiment, Estonian Air Force, 1940 With the kind assistance of Cliff7600. A little real world background - During 1937 and 1938 a surprisingly long list of countries (including Japan!) had requested quotations and delivery timescales for the Spitfire leading the UK Air Ministry to allocate a priority list of 12 countries with Estonia in 3rd place behind Belgium (2nd) and France (1st). Another Baltic State interested in the Spitfire was Lithuania who enquired about purchasing 14 Spitfires but this enquiry was never allocated a priority number and lapsed.

    Yeah I forgot to remove the wires...I correct, it has cables. I jumped at the chance to paint the simpler skin as soon as I was able to download the stencil, however I realized this won't be a simple skin only mod as the Latin Orions have different antennas, other positions in the reconnaissance pods and they don't have dispensers... in short, you will need a fake pilot

    3digit tactical numbers are rare in Russia, because the number is connected with the unit, the Fighter Wing. Thatswhy 2digit numbers, but no 00 and no 13. 00 is the toilet and 13 is bad luck. 3digit numbers are only for prototypes or for big units, like training units.

    9-15th January 1917 Sergeant R. C. "Beau" Gray Droglandt, Flanders No.46 Squadron, RFC 0 claims, 0 confirmed The second week of the month had been as uneventful as the two prior ones. While the majority of Forty Six felt at the very least relieved that the weather was cutting them some slack, Beau's energetic nature couldn't help itself but fill the young hothead's head with disappointment. Unfortunately for him (or luckily, one could say...) the other pilots of the Squadron were mostly well into their late twenties and early thirties; their maturity and, clearly, superior experience near the frontlines were surely to blame for the cheery attitude that resonated within the barracks in Droglandt thanks to the poor weather. Beau believed the cameraderie within Forty Six was lackluster, to say the least: the only person he had grown to like was his observer, captain Wilson Bates. He was a 26 years old exuberant lad from Thetford, where he was pursuing an apprenticeship in his father's workshop before the war had started. He enlisted in the infantry in 1914 but was hit by shrapnel July 1915 and was later deemed unfit for the army due to partial damage of his left leg; he therefore opted to enlist in the Royal Flying Corps as an observer, role he retained from the middle of 1915 reaching the rank of Captain. They shared many interests (namely music and liquor among them) and their personalities appeared to amalgamate rather nicely, to the very least compared to Beau's relationship with his squadron mates. They deemed him immature, short fused and an unpredictable flyer (both in the good and in the bad) and more often than not preferred not to fly with him; Gray was fine with it as he preferred to have full capacity over how he would execute his tasks, and many flied lone wolves anyways. One of their favourite hobbies, there at Droglandt, was practicing their marksmanship. Bates was able to keep his old SMLE from his infantry days, and Beau had managed to snatch a Winchester 1907 from one of the barracks - He was sure they'd notice it eventually but nobody ever spoke about it, so he decided to keep it. Being two handy men with way too much time on their hands due to the frequent poor weather they built a small rifle range a few yards from the barracks. There they would spend most of their free days drinking, smoking and listening to classical music over vinyls, not to much amusement of their CO, Major Mealing. Unfortunately the range was inoperable due to the few feet of snow that had fallen in the past days, and the only activity Beau could keep himself busy with was tinkering with his crate. He wasn't a fan of French built machines, deeming them more frail, unpredictable and twitchy compared to the rugged English workhorses, and the only superior thing about the Nieuport was the observer's position behind the pilot. He cleaned the engine cowling and oiled up the pistons, challanged Wilson to disassemble the Lewis machine gun as fast as possible, went over the rigging and installed a holder on the right side of his cockpit for his Winchester. They attempted to get a truck and visit some of the local towns but the snow was way too thick; so much so that the battles on the ground had been on hold for quite a few days as well. The one thing that kept Beau sane since the beginning of December were the letters he recieved ever so often from his lover, Liza. They had been sweethearts since the day they met and were already considering an engagement when Beau enlisted in October. It was now the 15th January and, much to his surprise, nothing had come of his supposed transfer to Fifty Four yet. Beau's Winchester Their homemade rifle range

    Obflugm Edward Reimann MLFA II Neuwmunster 28th December 1916 to 10th January 1917 Following his successful maiden flight the previous day, Edward awoke early on the 28th, he was eager and keen. The CO had said he would be accompanying the others on their mission today and Edward had butterflies as he walked over to the window of his room and drew the single curtain across. He was greeted by a sheet of white. So much so that he couldn't see out of the window, he could only see the snow which covered it entirely. Edward's heart sank...."Scheiße"...he remarked to himself as he walked back to his bed and wiped the sleep from his eyes. Clearly there'd be no flying today.......or, indeed, for the foreseeable. Leutnant Wald tried his best by organising some gunnery practice in the wooden hanger on the left of the airfield, but this could only last so long. He also allowed some leave to those due it, but this took no account of how difficult it was to get about! The snow was several feet thick in places and where it had been blown into corners, a man would sink beyond head height. Preparations were also made for a party on New Year's Eve In the Kasino. Edward was roped in to help organise the food. He was a decent cook thanks to the predominantly homely upbringing he'd had back in Otterndorf, where the majority of his peers and family were feminine. He helped prepare and cook several sumptuous courses, alongside the chefs. Roasted pork knuckle, herring, bratwurst and a hearty dumpling stew were just a few of the dishes on offer as the pilots, mechanics and rest enjoyed the festivities. As well as champagne and far too much schnapps, Edward had been pleased to see several bottles of kolsch had been gathered and enjoyed some of these alongside his kameraden. He was beginning to learn about those around him, as well as suffer the inevitable 'ribbing' thanks to his 'englischer' heritage. Indeed, his nickname seemed to have become 'King' thanks to his anglicised first name. He took it in good stead and gave some out too. The extended period without flying allowed him to get to know several of his kameraden...... Oberflugmeister Gunther Ebersbach was from Oberstdorf on the border with Austria. He was a big fellow with a freethinking 'bohemian' style. He seemed untroubled by the war, the awful weather, in fact by anything in particular and he naturally drew Edward towards him with his cheery demeanor. Oberflugmeister Theodore Jung was the polar opposite. A diminutive character from Bad Laasphe near Siegen. He was Prussian to the core and had two years in the Uhlans before his transfer to the kriegsmarine early in 1916. There were rumours his father (a long serving Colonel in the army) had wangled the move when the Uhlans were due to be sent up against the Russians. He was a good pilot however, and had two confirmed victories already to his name. Flugmaat Eduard Worms was a good humoured Bavarian from Pullenreuth near the border with the Hapsburg empire. He'd been a farmer before the war but had managed a naval posting thanks to his teacher, who had connections with Kiel. Finally there was the CO. Leutnant Oswald Wald was from Bingen on the banks of the Rhine. He was a career soldier who'd transferred to the Marine-Landfliegerabteilung in 1915. He'd proved himself a capable pilot as a later member of the 'Brieftauben-Abteilung Ostend' where he'd made several bombing trips around Flanders and even as far as Dover. He'd been CO of MLFA II since it's official inception at the start of 1916 and had three confirmed victories, making him the unit's top marksman. Edward wondered why he hadn't transferred to single seaters, but would need to get to know his kameraden better before being able to answer such questions. The New Year celebrations went well, very well and Edward felt rather the worse for wear the next morning. The snow hardly relented the next week either. When it had flattened enough to allow road travel, Edward went to Ostend alongside, Leutnant Wald, Oberflugmeister Ebersbach and the chief mechanic, Stabsfeldwebel Christiansen to pick up some supplies, orders and spares. The weather seemed to be lifting and warming as the 10th January approached. Everyone was itching to be back in action.

    Vipers Over Bosnia Part 1: USAFE F-16C/Ds During Operation Deny Flight In April 1993, NATO had documented over 500 unauthorized military flights over Bosnian airspace since the United Nations passed Resolution 781 that prohibited those flights. The Umited Nations then passed Resolution 816 that extended the flight ban to all fixed and rotary wing in the country and authorized memeber states to use all measures need to comply. On 12 April 1993, NATO began Operation Deny Flight, combat air patrols to enforce the no fly zone over Bosnia Herzogovina. In June 1993, Resolution 836 allowed NATO to also provide close air support to UNPROFOR on request (This was not often used because requests had to go to the UN in New York, then to NATO then back to the pilots and ground forces involved). As a result, the typical loadout was of air to air missiles as well as a pair of bombs and jaming pod. The closest American air base to the conflict zone was Aviano AB in Italy. Many US Fighter units forward deployed there at the beginning, including elements of the 86th Fighter Wing (512th and 526th Fighter Squadrons) which was transitioning from the F-16C Block 30 to the F-16C Block 40. This unit was in the middle of that transition on 28 Feb 1994 when elements of the 526th FS engaged 6 Serbian J-21 jets with the USAF claiming 4 downed (the Serbs claim 5 were lost). Later in 1994, the 86th Wing ceased fighter operations and the two squadrons were moved to Aviano to become part of the 31st Fighter Wing (510th FS and 555th FS). These squadrons continued operations over Bosnia through the shoot down incident on 2 Jun 1995 and the air strikes conducted as part of Operation Deliberate Force. With the adopting of the Dayton Peace Accords, Deny Flight was determined to no longer be necessary and terminated on 15 December 1995. This mod represents the four USAFE main F-16 squadrons that took part, the 512th FS Dragons, 526th FS Knights, 510th FS Buzzards, and 555th FS Triple Nickel. It also covers the two different blocks of F-16 flown at the time (30 and 40) Included F-16C Block 30 and 40, F-16D Block 40 new F-16D Block 40 various period specific weapons and pilots various ini edits to match the era new hangar and loading screens NOTE: The D models have very few serial numbers to each unit. most units only had one or two family models. The best use for these is to add on as a member of a flight of single seaters. The load outs are the same so you will be able to load the same weapons.     I had a few hours this afternoon to experiment with some cloud patches and turned up this neat tweak.     For FE2 ONLY == Adding Destroyed Models for 3rd Party Aircraft This little tweek will add the destroyed models and effect for 'crashed/shot down' aircraft to those 3rd Party units that don't have a) their own or b) any at all First off, one needs to extact the data inis for the stock aircrft, to get the names of the various destroyed lods. You'll need Gerwin's Cat Extractor (which works with ALL versions of the 3W Games, regardless of TOS or NextGen) You can get it here: http://combatace.com/files/file/7933-catpack-archiving-utility/ Follow his instructions from the readme, and off you go. You'll be opening pretty much all the ObjectData cats (especially 002 & 003), so store the extracted files in a seperate folder somewhere's on you HD. The (only) major drawback to Gerwins extractor, is it pulls ALL files, and dosen't let you choose which one, like the 1stGen extractor from Skypat (which dosen't work with SF2/FE2) Ok, so you've got them extracted, let's look at one...this is from the AlbatrosD5_170. I've highlighted the relevant statements All the others are pretty much the same, just with different names to match which aircraft they go to. So, the real trick is find something that's a close enough match to the non-destroyed shape, with it's 'smashed to bits on the ground and bruning shape" Rule of thumb, if it's single-seated, rotary/radial, choose something close (the Nieuports could use the Camel or SPAD destroyed models), whereas a two-seater could use the RE.8 or Salmson. It's all your choice, and dosen't make too much difference, as it's just going to be laying there all broken on the ground. So, to add it, one just needs to copy/paste the two lines (as shown above) from a stick kite, to the 3rd Party one, adding them to the [AircraftData] section. Below, is for the Nieuport 17b, and an all other would be similiar, as is the procedure The only thing I have noted, is some of the effects don't seem to be working as advertised, but at least, this'll give you visual proof that the enemy aircraft is down!     GETTING THE STATIC AIRCRAFT FROM EDWARDS FLANDERS TERRAIN TO APPEAR IN OTHER TERRAINS. First, thanks to christian59 for getting the ball rolling on this idea. You'll need to dowload and install Edward's Flanders Terrain if you don't have it already. Open up the terrain folder. You will see several aircraft LOD and BMP files for 7 different A/C. There are also LODs and BMPs for the Ground Crew (GrndCrew). Copy and Paste all these files to your Verdun or Vogesen terrain folder. Now find the WWIVERDUN_TYPES.INI file (you may have to extract it fromt he .CAT file per instructions given elswhere in this sticky topic).
