And how this is going to help? It is fun to have a wish list...but it is only fun. the cockpit will not make itself suddenly... Research time. This is not like you will google "xyz cockpit" and have ready everything. Manuals, hundreds of photos and you still will have a shitload of work. I think years ago someone asked about creating a research group - to take part of the workload from the modeler. Suppose it did not work out either. Maybe one day... as for now generally, 3d guys here are on their own... But believe me, research in this matter is hard. As I said - it is not about googling cockpit photos. the best thing about making a working cockpit is - that in the end after all this hard work you will feel rewarded. So...yes we need a cockpit for this and that..but whining about it...will not make it happen...

After looking on my terrain and then on Google Earth i realized, that i placed Montevideo at the wrong position. So i had to move it. Near to horizon you see the city tile at the old position. In reality there is a town called Ciudad del Plata or so. Montevideo is around the bay, which is a natural harbour. Same position, but view to the south, the suburbs of Montevideo along the coastline and the Montevideo International Airport Short view of this airport. First steps, there is still a lot to do.

I am releasing this as a BETA for you guys to try out and give feed back on. You WILL need OTC for SF2 installed and you WILL need SF2NA as part of your base game installation. StrikeFighters2 BOP OTC addon BETA.7z TO INSTALL: Unpack the files and out into your 'StrikeFighters2 OTC' mods folder. You MUST overide when prompted!!! It will not affect the OTC campaigns and objects in anyway. The aim of this addon to fly as the A-4B Skyhawk in the air-to-air role as planned if Kennedy hadn't massively reduced the planned air support by the Navy at the last minute. But you can also fly in the ground support role as a Rebel/ CIA B-26B "During Bay of Pigs VA-34 A-4B Skyhaks from the USS Essex flew a CAP/ escort mission with the intention of protecting the Rebal A-26 Invaders but due to a timing cock up were an hour late and missed engaging the Cuban T-33A fighters. They also flew multiple reconnaissance flights over the invasion beach throughout the incident. Due to President Kennedy insisting that there be no proof of US involvement the Skyhawks had their USN markings painted over. This was one of the first VSF Skyhawk detachments and the A-4B could not carry the AIM-9 at this point so Skyhawks operating over Cuba just had two wing drop tanks plus thier 20mm cannons." Credit goes to eburger68 and the team who made OTC: Wrench for the T-33 WhiteBoySamurai for the long hull Essex I turned into the LPH-4 Timmy, Bobrock, Hgbn and Wrench for the A-26

drag chute must be part of the model properly linked in a hierarchy and be part of the visible component in data.ini. the new cockpit is not a problem - usually, the time needed to build one is. Generally, building a cockpit is much easier than an aircraft model - it just takes much more time. Same thing about double cockpits. Either it is a backseater, side-seater, or even can have three positions. The thing is you need time to build one.

Folks , there's a problem with the vote system I didn't anticipated. The Website Poll applet allows just 15 item to choose from and there are 33 planes total in the final list, so...instead of complicating things and making at least 2x15 choices (and hopping that none will vote twice different planes LOL) we better make up our minds for a final 15 contestants list. So please take a good look to the preliminary list and let me know what you've decided. If this will be sorted out until Monday (enough time I hope), then we will have a poll Tuesday for two or three days, to let enough time for all to vote. If there is a better solution I would like to hear it.

This happens only after ofisial updates or instaling oficial DLC or changing Version.ini file or serious damage modfolder folders structure. Or if you move your folder with the game and start it from new lokation the game overwrite default aircrafts. If you take attantion to this it will never happens again. My modfolder has been around for ages without this problem and I don't use any of the above tricks. As a last resort, select the airplane folder and set read-only attributes to the entire folder

I've got word from Wrench and it's not good news. It seems that applet can't be changed to support more lines, so...if , by tomorrow, I don't hear a better solution , we will adapt Cliff's idea and make it work somehow. More about that tomorrow.

I've been there if it's what I think it is. If you have a modded plane (even if just its skin is changed) and the plane HAS the default one (stock) NAME , game will write over it after a time (it will rewrite the default files in all the folder and delete what you had there, made by you). If that's the case this is the workaround which worked for me: CHANGE the name of the plane and the default one leave it alone, forget about it for good. Example: Shahak (default name of the folder) first copy it and then change its name to something similar (Shahak_V1 or whatever), then change accordingly everything that must be changed as syntax in its folder's interior., presumely you know your way around making some "beginner's level" modding. There is another workaround but you have to know a thing or two about modding (modding advance level). Change the LOD of the plane so this way, the plane will be ...different and the default routine won't interfere with it. In example I gave you above, I have two Shahak 3D model and i changed the LOD for the default one, and the default LOD I copied over the Shahak_71 one. I've never been bothered ever since by that oddity.

Sometimes I don't mind fighting the old birds as they rack up kills for me. Only when more modern jets come out do I worry. And no problem
  30. 1 point
I don't think it's possible as I run a modern install and they rarely show up. I think you're just going to have to deal with it.

I think what he meant is that, for him, the myriads of aircraft already in download section are enough. About the dreaming I think he meant that one can dream what aircraft would like to see built. I don't think he wanted to be rude. He just didn't choose the right words to express himself.

A wise proposition nonetheless, BUT, sorry (sponsor privilege) , these chapters won't be included: Missiles/Transport/Sea planes (except CL-215). The list is already long as it is. Also, entries made previous this discussion, won't make it to the list for the same reason. If your model/idea is backed up by a majority of community, we will try it, unless anyone else find a better solution. I already asked Erik , through our esteemed admin, Wrench, to explore the posibility to extend to 35-40 the applet load. I am still wating for an answer on this matter.

Actually, I don't care. We already have some of the greatest aircraft already available. But I don't blame any of you for dreaming....
  35. 1 point
sooo, you stole my idea... Building a plane is child's play compared to a cockpit in TIME units. As I know all cockpit gurus here are busy for years with their cockpit projects. Conclusion: there are few to none available hands on the deck for such task here. Unless one of them owe you a big favor or you can pay them to let their work to do yours, forget about it. You could end the thread here. PS - after every two or three years you will notice that a new cockpit entered the download section and that only if the author is not changing his mind to share it.

I am ready to deleting the proposed by me KAI KF-21 Boramae, because this is the aircraft of the future, it is in development and we do not yet know exactly how and when it will be mass-produced. What can definitely be removed from the list is the Sukhoi Su-75 Checkmate. This aircraft is an absolute propaganda fantasy and will never be translated into reality. You can Join together "doubles" as Mirage 2000N & Mirage 2000D. Minus useles for game aircrafts which are not "fighters not bombers nor recon" which are interesting but can not be applied in any mission. This is my opinion, personal. You may not agree with it.

We can list needed cockpits and it will be long. But who will do these cockpits?

Nice again, Spinners. That would have given the RAF faster Phantoms than its actual Spey-powered FG1’s and FGR2’s, at about 2/3 the price! Fitting the “fatter”, more powerful Spey (turbofan vs the turbojet J79), with its bigger intakes, not only led to increased intake drag but also messed with the F-4’s fuselage area ruling. As well as costing a lot more. So while our Phantoms could accelerate faster than a standard J79-powered ac, and had greater endurance, they couldn’t fly as fast. As proved when 74 Sqn was equipped with the second-hand J79-powered F-4J(UK)* in the 1980’s. *That clumsy designation always irritated. Being employed in the pure fighter role, the F-4J(UK) should logically have been designated the Phantom F3.

View File [Fictional] Nord Aviation HC-127B Noratlas - USCG Nord Aviation HC-127B Noratlas for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the Nord 2501 Noratlas transport aircraft (originally released by Coyote Aerospace in 2021) to create a fictional HC-127B in service with the US Coast Guard in the 1960-1990 timeline. I made this for my own use but a few people were interested in it so I'm releasing it 'as is' and with just a small serial number range. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the HC-127B folder into your AIRCRAFT folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the HC-127B folder into your DECALS folder. 3. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop the 'Hercules' file into your SOUNDS folder. That's it! Please note that the aircraft is listed as a HC-127B in 'Player Aircraft Type' and instead of creating the USCG as a new nation I have just allocated it to the USN. CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Huge thanks to Coyote Aerospace for bringing us the Noratlas (the original read me is included to give credit to those who participated). And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 1 - Feb 11th, 2023 Submitter Spinners Submitted 02/11/2023 Category What If Hangar

I'm just fine, Ully, thanks for asking. I didn't realise you hadn't been around because lots of your previous posts on interesting topics are still kicking around on the site. I hope you are well too. Yes I will post. Any minute now. (Big smile and nod) As regards reverse thrust, which I tend to think of as a braking effect, rather than a means of an aircraft backing up, we're talking about needing extra airbrakes. I assume the reverse buckets on the SF Tornado work the same way as a drogue parachute on other SF aircraft. Basically you put the correct code into the data file that describes a second airbrake of whatever strength you want, which only operates when your wheels are on the ground. You don't need to see a parachute graphic out the back of the aircraft, (which would be nice - I believe the F-117 has it), but you get the effect of a drogue chute in the form of a second airbrake. I confess to stealing that code and putting it into an aircraft that should have had a drogue chute, back in my SF1 days, and it worked a treat. It might also be worth looking into the datafile of the SF2 version of the Marina Militare AV-8B+ which is in the downloads section. It features the moveable thrusters which can be pointed down to 90 degrees for vertical lift, but also to 120 degrees forward to aid in braking.

The latest iteration of the Tommo Inc Falcon 4.0 total conversion modification - Benchmark Sims 4.37 U1 - is available for you to enjoy RIGHT NOW! BMS 4.37 U1 requires a legit installation of a Falcon 4.0 (all older and newer versions are accepted alike, i.e. Microprose, Hasbro, GOG, Steam, Retroism). The check is performed both at setup time and every time you start BMS. If no valid installation is found, BMS will exit with a corresponding error message. For those of you who are new to Falcon and still need a legacy Falcon 4.0 license, you’re lucky, as there are various season sales going on. Retroism GOG If you have already installed BMS 4.37 Full Installer you will need to launch the “updater.exe” in Falcon BMS root folder (or from the new launcher). Alternatively, you can use the offline incremental installer available on the Falcon BMS Download page. This mod may not be used for any commercial purposes. Any such use may constitute a violation of the intellectual property of Tommo Inc and the non-commercial Terms and Conditions under which Benchmark Sims make this mod available to you. After the update, when starting BMS, the version string in the BMS UI will now read: Falcon BMS 4.37.1 (x64) Build 451 A big THANK YOU to everyone in the BMS development team and to the gents from TOMMO INC who made this release possible! DISCLAIMER: Do not update over a modded 3D KTO Database, it will corrupt your install… Changelog. https://www.falcon-bms.com/changelogs/falcon-bms-4-37-1/
