I finished the M978 HEMTT Fuel truck past weekend. At least up to Beta level, as the texturing of the fuel-trailer is still rather plain. This groundobject can now be downloaded from my website. It makes these airfields look so much more modern. In addition these three models were updated: The M977 HEMTT, BRDM-2 and BRDM-2-SA-9.

If you wanted to know more about all those targets in Strike Fighters you were blasting out of the sky all these years well now is your chance. Didn't the Red Eagles fly the MiG-23 and say it was rubbish and that is all I need to know? Unfortunately, the Red Eagles only flew (as far as we know) the MiG-23MS which was a very special version for third world countries. Special in that it was a modified MiG-23M airframe with MiG-21 avionics and short range IR missiles and yes the Red Eagles were right it was pretty much rubbish, but that should not be confused with the later ML/MLA/MLD types that were vastly improved. Part of the Middle East at war series this newly released book covers the MiG-23 types operated by Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Algeria between 1973 and 2018. The book also covers some of the technical differences between the types and the weapons they used and some of the situations the pilots faced both internally or externally. Of interest is one pretty detailed Libyan MiG-23MLD pilot account of a 2 v 2 mock dogfight he had got into against some US Navy F-14As in 1986. Austrian Tom Cooper has literally been on a mission from God for years now to get some truth over what happened to the other side in those many Mid-Eastern air wars we all know. He has amassed many contacts that were there at the time and has to be today, the western authority on the subject co authoring books with some of the most established and respected aviation historians. This all started with the massive six part Arab MiGs series which gathered a lot of research and even more contacts which has led to a lot of spins offs including the two part African MiGs, three part Libyan Air Wars, and Iranian Tigers at War (Taghvaee). The controversial Tom Cooper Prior to the Arab MiG series Cooper was somebody taking a lot of flak, not only on the web site ACIG but in relation to other books co-authored 2003 to 2005, the main one being Iranian F-14 Tomcat units in combat. Although the research seems credible the context of the book is misleading, written from only an Iranian view point with several areas where the book contradicts itself. This led to some angry exchanges with several Iraqis on forums and brought into question some of the books material. It is interesting to note that this new book makes little to no reference back to this earlier research and seems to make a big effort in providing information from mostly Arab and Russian/ Soviet sources. We at least now get some insight to the Iraq V Iran air war from an Iraqi viewpoint as well.

It's amazing what a little TLC can do. Don't remember where I got this but it needed a new paint job. 4 hours worth of work and PRESTO!!! Something worth flying.

I don't think I even had a signature before, But it is a good idea so I added it just now. Adding these things to the terrains is tedious: InActiveYear does not work as such in the terrain types.ini. Fortunately ActiveYear=1983 does work there. The rest is to be done in the Targets file: Edit existing targets by adding an InActiveYear=1982 to them, Then copy them over to the end of the targetarea and change them to the new type, with a new sequential target number of course. TFDtool will need an update to do such a thing automatically for a loaded Targets file, for any specified old Type + new Type + InActiveYear. For example: Type 'BRDM' becomes 'BRDM2' after 1982. Type 'USTruck' becomes 'USTruck2' (M977_HEMTT) after 1982. Type 'USFuelTruck' becomes 'USFuelTruck2' (M978_HEMTT) after 1982. Type 'USJeep' becomes 'USJeep2' (M1025 HMMWV) after 1982. Or any such groundobject mod from this site.

I have uploaded a completely new version of the Sikorsky S-16. It was not produced in very large numbers, and was quickly outclassed by other planes, so it wasnt one of the "great" planes, but I really like the way it looks. The new version has all new LODs with higher detail and lower poly count. All new skins and decals are included. Ojcar made a new FM as well. Your comments are welcome.

The game will never support GIFs. It was programmed to use other image file types, the ones I mentioned before. We don't have the source code to modify the game's executable. So, forget about using GIFs.

Nice work, I like reading your reports! It just makes me wanna start a merc-campaign (never played any) and actually play the game, rather than do skins or other stuff for it. Please continue!

Looking at the top photo, it looks like the Lebed VIII also had ailerons - the Lebed VII used wing warping.

You are absolutely right. On the top photo - actually "Лебедь-VIII". It differed from the prototype (pictured below) not only by the different landing gear , but also by the increased wingspan. It really was made in a single copy.

The British Tabloid was used very successfully in the early months of the war, as an inceptor and as a bomber. I imagine that was what motivated the Russians. A single prototype of the Lebed VIII was built, with different landing gear, but it never went into production. - As I said, mine is fictitious.

Great MiG-23 video! And the music is pretty cool too.

Lebedev lost his license for Sopwith Tabloid, making unauthorized changes to the design of the engine's cowl, after which the "Tabloid" became "Swan-VII". In total, less than ten of these "swans" were built.

This is for BeachAVR's request, based on Sixgun's Formations 1.1 for SFP1 (http://combatace.com...-formation-zip/) Although there are a few new variables in SF2, concerning Element (2 ship, which could be you and your wingman), I wasn't able to find a way to give formation orders ONLY to your wingman. So orders were implement like Sixgun did before, under the Flight1 (which is number 3 and 4) aircraft. 1. Added Formation radio command under Wingman. 2. Two different formations possible: - High Cover: Which orders your number 2, and the second element (num 3 & 4) to take high cover around 5-6k feet above. - Wingman High Cover: Which orders only your number 2 to high cover, keeping the 2nd Element in Fluid Four formation spots. Works quite good actually. If you only have you and your wingman in the mission, you can order him to move high. It also works correctly, even if the 2nd Element is given attack orders or they are already engaged. They will not answer your formation commands. So you can command just your Wingman. Well there is something else I should mention. There seems to be a bug, that when you order Flight1 to attack, your number 2 will act also and go after targets. So you'll have to tell him to Rejoin, then you'll be correctly acting as elements again.. Formations_SF2.rar Both files go in to your MODFOLDER/Flight

Here is one of my latest projects (soon to be released), Combining the Mirage Factory's skins and creating a more accurate IAF 105SQ skins for the stock TW Kurnass. After extensive research I also managed to find out more about the actual serial numbers of this squadron.
