It's available here: https://combatace.com/files/file/16575-sf2-ww2-battle-of-the-bulge-terrain/ Now that you mention it, I should compile all of Geezer's SF-2 sized "Bulge Objects" in one package, with both winter and summer textures. 2 pointsThanks for the nice words gents - the sound variety is very good also for situational awareness...you can usually pick up on what's in the vicinity based simply on the sound of the engine on enemy aircraft. I'm using one of the low-hp, early rotary sounds for the inline engines on BE2c and BE2e types in the sim, because of the nice rickety sound....but if I can find a Beardmore sound on the internet I'll see if I can eventually modify it and substitute that instead for the early two-seater types. Speaking of small communities, I'm also pleasantly surprised how many talented modders we have working on FE/FE2, considering that this is a "niche" simulator within an already niche category of simming (WW1) where most people only know about RoF and WoFF. Happy flying, Von S

Early RNZAF Fern Leaf roundels - not popular! F-4E-41 Phantom II (72) RNZAF - Above aircraft after MIDAS4 gun muzzle modification in 1972 and instillation of low-voltage formation lights. - Decision for follow up purchase of RWR equipment deferred permanently so cockpit RWR displays removed. F-4E-41 Phantom II (74) RNZAF - Above aircraft with maneuvering slats fitted in 1974 via kit-sets procured with the second batch of Phantoms (Block 60) delivered below. F-4E-60 Phantom II (74) RNZAF - Second and final batch of 5 Block 60 F-4E Phantoms delivered in 1974. - Serial # NZ6212 to NZ6216. - Standard SEA camouflage and USAF stencils of the day (slightly different to the Block 41 aircraft as five years newer). - Fitted "for but not with ECM" so RWR antenna and wiring fitted but no computer to make it function. Cockpit RWR displays removed in RNZAF service. 1979ish, lower 'Camouflage Grey' color replaced with 'Light Gull Grey' as used on the RNZAF's P-3 Orion (this was done in real life on the RNZAF A-4K Skyhawks). 1984, F-4E fleet repainted in Euro 1 which better suits the New Zealand environment. F-4E-ARN Phantom II (84) RNZAF - 6 attrition replacements purchased and delivered in 1984 from current USAF F-4E fleet in preparation for RNZAF F-4E fleet avionics/ capability upgrade. - Serial # NZ6251 to NZ6256. - Standard SEA wraparound camouflage and USAF stencils of the day. - Full current USAF F-4E fleet RWR/ countermeasure (flare/ chaff) capability. - Aircraft equipped with TISEO and AN/ARN-101 Digital Avionics Modular System (ARN-101 provides for a CCIP bombing mode). F-4E-41/60 'Kahu' Phantom II (88) RNZAF - Comprehensive $140 million upgrade program: project 'Kahu'. First upgraded aircraft operational in 1988. - AN/APG-66(NZ) multi-mode radar. - Modernized cockpit with glass displays, HOTAS and a Ferranti wide-angle HUD. - ALR-66 RWR - ALE-40 countermeasure dispensers. - MIL-STD 1553B databus - Litton Industries LN-93 inertial navigation system. - Airframe and engines completely stripped down and given a life extension. - Aircraft wiring replaced. - Engine smoke abatement system. - Modern weapons procured include GBU-10 LGB kits, AIM-9L, AIM-7M, CRV-7, AGM-65B/G. - F-15 600 gallon HPC tanks as on USAF Phantoms. 1997 onwards all green camouflage. 2004, All RNZAF aircraft repainted 'Medium Grey'. Previous 'urgent operational requirement' program adds targeting pod (Litening), GPS navigation, GBU-12 and JDAM capability for OEF deployment. Background (all factual): In mid 1964 Operational Requirement No. 5/Air called for a tactical combat aircraft to replace the Canberra. Specifically a long range aircraft with the primary role of counter-air/interdiction and secondary roles of close air support and air defense. In June 1965 The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Morrison was quoted as wanting 18 F-111 aircraft for the RNZAF at a cost of £1.5 million per aircraft. The public and media supported the idea but the Chief of Defense Staff (who was a Naval Officer) and the acting Prime Minister publicly opposed the purchase. In August 1965 the Chiefs of Staff Committee rejected the idea of acquiring long-range interdiction aircraft and in September agreed that close air support should be the primary role of the new combat aircraft. In December came Air Staff Requirement No. 12 with the following requirements of the new combat aircraft: - Ability to provide effective air support to ground forces. - Highly reliable and robust - Self defense capability to evade or counter supersonic interceptors and surface-to-air missiles. - Long range. - Ability to operate closely with American and Australian forces. By May 1966 the RNZAF had finished evaluating six candidate aircraft: - F-4C Phantom II - A-7A Corsair II - Mirage IIIO - F-5A Freedom Fighter - F-104G Starfighter - A-4E Skyhawk In August 1966 the RNZAF officially asked the government to purchase 16 F-4 Phantoms at a total cost of £19 million. Now remember AVM Morrison making it known he wanted the F-111? He would later go on to admit he never wanted the F-111 he had wanted the F-4 all along but given the cost of the F-4 he wanted to make it look more attractive (cost wise) by putting it next to the F-111. The minister of Defense then announced the final stage of the evaluation had been reached and a decision was a few weeks away. The purchase of the F-4 seemed to be all but done... BUT the Treasury department now intervened and recommended purchasing the F-5! The RNZAF High Command was furious! But ultimately powerless to halt the path to purchasing the A-4 Skyhwak that had just begun. Over the next year the RNZAF, Cabinet Defense Committee, Treasury, the Finance Minister and the Chief of Defense wrangled over purchasing the F-4 or an alternative (F-5 or A-4). Then at the end of 1967 the New Zealand Currency was devalued and a squadron of F-4 Phantoms was now instantly out of New Zealand’s price range. It was either 11 Phantoms or 16 Skyhawks. So the Skyhawk it was. So if the Treasury Department hadn't intervened in the procurement process towards the end of 1966 it seems entirely likely that New Zealand would have placed and order for the F-4 Phantom II at the end of that year. Or once the NZ dollar devalued in 1967 the option of an initial 11 F-4E order followed by another 5 in 5 years was considered, which I have gone for here.

1 pointYeah know one in game but I think this ones better... lots to do....as im dabbling again, its one im finishing now.....but hold on to your hats, its being done as and when. Lots to do... Already done. Animated gears ,bomb doors....took an age as they were down in original 3ds model, and as anyone who uses 3ds max knows most 3ds models have a lot of errors, most of the meshes had seperate polygons...took ages to weld., added spec mapping, sorted out jpegs of painted on numbers etc, to do....here we go lol redo tail fins ...slightly too thick at base and need proper mechanism... tail chute and housing new wings as these are just damaged versions,or rather are split like them.. refuel probe weapon stations might try redo a template intakes need looking at,...dirt ingress-louvre doors to make engine fans need replacing canards are way too thick and clunky-remake then reposition all the pivot points for the control surfaces.. so you see quite a list..... would say two weeks but thats being very conservative lol... it will be when its done...ok thanks cheers Russ BTW this one will be hi def\res unlike the other one :)

1 pointView File ARA General Belgrano (C-4) ARA General Belgrano was an Argentine Navy light cruiser in service from 1951 until 1982. Originally commissioned by the U.S. as USS Phoenix, she saw action in the Pacific theatre of World War II before being sold by the United States Navy to Argentina. Transferred to Argentine Navy as Diecisiete de Octubre, 9 April 1951, renamed ARA General Belgrano 1956. The vessel was the second to have been named after the Argentine founding father Manuel Belgrano (1770–1820). She was sunk on 2 May 1982 during the Falklands War by the Royal Navy submarine Conqueror with the loss of 323 lives. Losses from General Belgrano totalled just over half of Argentine military deaths in the war. She is the only ship to have been sunk during military operations by a nuclear-powered submarine. 1 pointEagle Dynamics Loyalty Program Following a lengthy client satisfaction review of our existing Bonus Program, we are delighted to announce the new DCS World Loyalty Program. This will replace the Bonus Program and will provide a simpler way to earn rewards and more freedom to use them! ED Miles are similar in many ways to airline miles and can be earned/awarded and used as follows: Regardless if a product has just been released, is already on sale or in pre-purchase, you will always earn ED Miles on the price you paid for the purchase. For each purchase, you will earn 10% of the Purchase Price in ED Miles. As an example: if you purchase something for USD 29.99 you will be awarded 2990 ED Miles worth USD 2.99 on the DCS World e-Shop. You can use ED Miles to purchase any product participating in the program, regardless if they are just released, already on sale, or as a pre-purchase! There is no limit on the number of ED Miles you can use for a purchase. If you have enough ED Miles, you can even pay for an entire product just using ED Miles. ED Miles earned are valid for three calendar years from the time of your last DCS World e-Shop purchase. Existing Bonus points will expire in 2019 on a date to be confirmed. Note that ED Miles cannot be redeemed for cash or any other conversion, and a list of 3rd parties participating in the program will be provided at launch. DCS: F-14 Tomcat Coming Next Week The F-14 Tomcat developed by Heatblur Simulations will be available next week on 13 March 2019 for both the DCS World e-Shop and Steam. Purchase now and take advantage of the pre-order discount; only a few days are left! Purchase from DCS e-shop The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a two-crew, variable geometry, maritime air superiority fighter that served with the US Navy for 32 years and continues to serve with the IRIAF in Iran. The F-14 was the US Navy's frontline fighter from the 1970s until the mid-2000s. Over the course of its long service life it also became the US Navy’s premier precision ground-attack platform and lone airborne reconnaissance asset. Outstanding features of the aircraft are the swing-wing configuration, crew of two, and the powerful AN/AWG-9 Weapons Control System (WCS) and radar. The AWG-9 allows employment of the powerful AIM-54 Phoenix air to air missile while the LANTIRN pod allows the ability to carry out precision ground strikes using laser guided bombs. The F-14 Tomcat was present during many pivotal historic moments such as the two Gulf of Sidra incidents, Operation Desert storm in Iraq, the conflict in Yugoslavia, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was also immortalized in the iconic motion picture, Top Gun, and starred in several other feature films including The Final Countdown, Executive Decision, and others. DCS: Christen Eagle II Available on Steam The Christen Eagle II by Magnitude 3 LLC is now available on Steam. The Christen Eagle II, which later became the Aviat Eagle II in the mid-1990s, is an aerobatic biplane aircraft that has been produced in the United States since February 1977. Designed by Frank Christensen, a veteran WW2 P-51D pilot and aerobatic competitor, it was originally built to compete with the Pitts Special. You’ll find that the Eagle is hard to beat in terms of flying excitement and adventure, and yet the ease of control allows even average pilots to feel like masters of aerobatics. Dare to fly like a true eagle, whether you are learning to fly, or you are an experienced pilot. Inside this powerful aerobatic beauty, you can enjoy solo aerobatics, do tight formation flying, graze the landscape sightseeing, or speed race down the track. You can even teach other people to fly. The smoke system allows you to visualize your stunts for yourself and other viewers. To extend the Eagle’s prowess in DCS, we implemented an internal and external light system which will keep you safe day and night, and a simple autopilot which will allow you to grab your favorite drink while your aircraft safely levels and awaits your return. Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team

1 pointThe reason Jel and I come here is about 25% to show off new stuff and 75% to refute these misstatements and as I said recently to another "mis-stater", it is becoming quite irksome. We've had this discussion enough times over at SimHQ that is really is disingenuous of you to repeat the misstatements here. To clear things up for members here who don't also frequent SimHQ I will reiterate: The Code Group has the "keys to the kingdom" so to speak, in that we hold the source code for EAW. That means we can make major changes to the game that no other modding group can do. The proof is in the pudding if you fly other development lines and then try the 1.6 line. I won't go into all the details, suffice to say the difference is astounding. (That's not to say members should fly one or the other exclusively) The reason the source code is restricted to those of us in the Code Group is that the original agreement, about 4 owners ago, includes a clause that we will never gain profit from our work. If we charge for our mods the agreement is rescinded, thus ending all further development. The problem with releasing the source code to the public is that any unscrupulous modder could then start charging for his work. We have no intention of risking that. We've talked this over many times at SimHQ. Some of those discussions got pretty heated because other people have other opinions, but ours is the one that counts and as HONORABLE people, we intend to stick to the agreement, no matter the accusations that we're hiding something. So PLEASE stop accusing us of being an insular clique. It is a LIE. We are always on the lookout for HONORABLE new members for the group who are willing to abide by the agreement. That can be documented in many threads over at SimHQ. You have already told us that, if you were able, you would release the source code on the belief that it wouldn't matter due to the age of the game. You are entitled to that opinion but you are not entitle to the singular action of releasing the code based on that opinion. Hence you will never be a member of that group. FWIW, it seems every time we reach a truce the same couple of guys tear open the wound. Cut it out. BTW, I'm releasing a massive new aircraft inventory package in the near future. A BETA version is being put through it's paces. Included with the package will be many of the editors that we're also being accused of hoarding. So much for conspiracy theories.

1 pointPoints well made Sky High,,i stay with EAW because it has what the newer sims don't have and it has a feeling of soul..i fly IL-2 and the newer great battles series but I'm always drawn back to my girl for a good fly..As you say patriotism is a lost ideal today,,we are more concerned with political correctness,I'm an old marine who served two tours in Vietnam and still snap a salute when putting up our flag each morning and get tears when our anthem is played ,,in EAW I fly planes from all sides and give respects to warriors from both sides who fought for what they believed in..I guess the attraction is being able to relive a part of our distant past and to feel the magic of EAW and the gifts the modders have brought to it..To all them i offer thanks for keeping the magic alive

1 pointI'm going to keep this brief and take questions as they come in. But due to several projects by other CombatAce members and my photography calendar I 100% doubt very seriously I will reach the 25 March release date: The new goal is 24 April - 30 additional days. There is also just too much backroom stuff - making screens, adding music, fine-tuning aircraft (e.g. the F-2A should have some TV-guided bombs, the Su-XX project or projects), checking mission times, and properly locating SAMs - to address a few hours a few evenings a week and meet my goal. Plus again, I want to add a late-model Sukhoi right now in development possibly two. Needless to say, you're going to get a download that's all-inclusive and I need to make the time to check that everything is in place for the end-users to have a good time. That said, let me assure you that you're going to get something for the price of... free that is going to make you really are fighting Putin's best:

Since the movie CATCH 22 I love the look of the "Billy Mitchell" bomber, and the LOCKHEED "Lightning" is a true beauty of an aircraft - I always wanted to fly it in a good sim. Guess I cannot get around it: BATTLE OF BODEPLATTE is on my "must-have" list now!

1 pointJust wish to add that the wide range of sounds really clarifies the depth of variety and realism that VonS' mod lends to FE. For such a small community, we are very lucky to have so much talent available to get the best out of this game. Those that are unaware of the level to which FE/FE2 has been taken are missing out.
-
1 pointConversations with Gterl revealed a problem he has to deal with when making his excellent maps - the building models vary in size. He uses a combination of 100% actual size models and 63% size models - the size intended by TK for FE/FE2 - and has to make numerous adjustments to prevent visual clash between the different sizes. So I have been experimenting with building entire villages and small towns in 63%. Shots below show first effort. The concept is to develop big models of towns and then paint a corresponding street grid base for them. Dunno if this will work, but it's worth looking into if there is a possibility of improving future game maps.

1 point27 Jan. 2019 update: I'm not able to put in a lot of work into this every day, but decided to remove most of the SAM sites from Kunashir Island. I recognize how hard @Gepardworked on the Kuril Islands, but having SA-10s remain on the map so close to Hokkaido Island after an emergency SEAD mission doesn't work for me. You can download the original here: Otherwise, I went into the code and have done my best to remove the SAM sites & SAM shelters from just Kunashir Island. The thinking being I'm pretty sure in a <24 Hour campaign; the AAA won't all be easily eliminated but this way I will only have SA-10s keep harassing jets on take-off & final approach to Hokkaido Island when I the single mission pack creator want them to. After all, most of the air combat is around Kunashir or in the Sea of Okhotsk. With that, some screenshots of the JASDF F-35As storming Kunashir Island to take out the one test SA-10 site & some of the support units I put up in the mission planner: So yes, there is operational testing still underway. Mainly to test the modified map code and relocated SAM sites... to destruction.

1 pointA Few Thoughts About ORBAT... I feel before I head into bed, I should write a bit about Order of Battle or ORBAT. With the possible exception of some Tu-22M3s... the below will be the Russian forces I use from WikiPedia... RUSSIAN AIR FORCE: 11th Air and Air Defence Forces Army (Khabarovsk) (Eastern Military District) 11th Aerospace Defense brigade (Komsomolsk-na-Amur) 12th Aerospace Defense brigade (Vladivostok) 6983rd aviation base (Komsomolsk-on-Amur Airport, Khabarovsk Krai) (Su-27SM, Su-30M2, Su-35S, Su-34) 6988th aviation base (Khurba, Khabarovsk Krai) (Su-24M, Su-24M2, Su-24MR) 6989th aviation base (Vladivostok International Airport) (Su-27SM) 265th transport aviation base (Khabarovsk) 4th Air and Air Defence Forces Army – Southern Military District (former 4th and 5th Armies of VVS and PVO) (Rostov-on-Don) RUSSIAN NAVAL AVIATION: Pacific Fleet Air Force – HQ Vladivostok 568th Independent Composite Aviation Regiment – HQ at Mongokhto - operating Tu-22M3, Tu-142MR/MZ; 865th Interceptor Aviation Regiment – HQ at Yelizovo-Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Airport - MiG-31; 317th Composite Air Regiment – HQ at Yelizovo - Tu-142; 71st Independent Military Transport Air Squadron – HQ at Nikolayevka, Primorskaya - An-12, An-24, An-26; 175th Independent Shipborne Anti-submarine Helicopter Squadron – HQ at Yelizovo - Ka-27; 289th Independent Anti-submarine Air Regiment – HQ at Nikolayevka - Il-38, Ka-27, Ka-29; RUSSIAN PACIFIC FLEET: # Type Name Class Year 011 Cruiser Varyag Slava 1989 543 Destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov Udaloy I 1985 564 Destroyer Admiral Tributs Udaloy I 1985 572 Destroyer Admiral Vinogradov Udaloy I 1988 548 Destroyer Admiral Panteleyev Udaloy I 1991 715 Destroyer Bystryy Sovremennyy 1989 333 Corvette Sovershennyy Steregushchy 2017 335 Corvette Gromky Steregushchy 2018 IF any of you have better ORBAT than WikiPedia, I'm all ears. Please advise sooner rather than later - remember my V1 due date is 25 March 2019 (helps when there's two late March events I'm attending and I need a good chunk of April to edit photos). Now obviously, I'm not going to include all these units on the assumption they all can't be there and clearly any competent military commander would want to save some ships, some aircraft for future skirmishes like when the JMSDF showed up in force. I'm also of the view the first attack will be premeditated, as Putin waits for a convenient casus belli to pick a fight with his neighbors. A few Japanese commercial ships that decided to hug the Kuril Islands hiding from a big but intermittent storm on their great circle route provoking a Su-30M2 (which you can get here) response which would prompt F-15Js (which you can get here) sitting northern Hokkaido alert would suffice... Oh and one last thing, I know it's tempting to try to write into the script US Forces either USN, USMC or USAF going rogue to honour treaties to help Japan out kinetically - but I think that would take away from the simulation and even if not, be highly difficult to predict. Plus take the focus away from the JASDF to the rogue US unit/s and by doing so turn this from wargaming into a Dale Brown novel (and I love Dale Brown novels!) with Megafortresses on the tarmac: Just figured some of you might want to see what's coming - and yes, you will get to take on the Varyag and Su-27SMs too. With that, another screenshot of what actually will 100% be in the single mission pak: Being my goal is realism, sorry to say the F-35A will be spare & rare in the 2020 mission pak. Used more as a Designated Hitter rather than a utility player like the F-15Js.
