Hello Piecemeal, I am working on a FPS friendly stock desert terrain. Using JSF_Aggie highres desert tiles combined with new created tiles an lod files. A lot of nice maps like Desert4, Rends Germany rework. Make my frame rates drop below 60 FPS (stuttering). That's why I wanted to make a map that looks nice, and runs smooth on modest PC's I also did not like the amount of agriculture in a "desert" terrain and the lack of roads. I am using mostly Third Wire low poly objects to keep everything smooth.

Just found a good photo of the wing spar attachments so now I have to alter the 3D model. Looks like the front wing spar was a rotating tube so the incidence angle could be adjusted by raising/lowering the rear spar. Back to the drawing board...

Got more work done on the Bleriot. Usually, WW1 cockpit openings are so small when compared to the rest of the aircraft, I just make a simple tub and reserve the details for the separate cockpit model. The Bleriot presents some unique problems so I'm going slow trying to figure out which details should be in which model.

realSKY Environment January 13th, 2019 (1st Release) by Menrva >For Strike Fighters 2 games This is my sky enhancement mod. It also combines the work of many other modders, in order to provide a realistic, better looking sky. Here below a quick summary of the changes: -Tweaked sky colours, something in between Cellinsky's widesky and the stock SF2 colours. -More realistic Night colours, sky and ambient are much darker. -More atmospheric, reddish transition from Twilight to Night. -New "dark blue" High Altitude colours (fly near space with a NF-104). -Moon produces a yellowish light instead of the default purple. -Sky is "wider" much like Cellinsky's widesky mod (background horizon clouds are bigger and more noticeable). -Added beautiful cloud graphics made by Cellinsky and ShrikeHawk, tweaked for each weather type. -Added a low number of stray clouds to Clear weather. -Added noticeable clouds to Overcast weather and Inclement weather, "fixing" a known SF2 "bug". -Combined various mods to produce a more interesting Rain Effect under Inclement weather. -Added Stary's lens flare effects from the SARCASM 2 mod, in place of Cellinsky's widesky effects. -Added Cloud Layer graphics by Stary, Fubar512 and Brain32. -Reworked secondary atmospheric effects, such as contrails and wingtip vortexes. In addition, the package includes alternative environment configuration files in the Alternative Weather folder; they enable different effects for the Inclement weather. You can choose between thunderstorm (default, adapt for most terrains), snowstorm (for cold, icy terrains) and sandstorm (for hot, desert terrains). For those who wish not to change the effect globally, I highly suggest to try the included terrain-specific environment example provided for stock SF2 terrains; the default global effect is thunderstorm, while terrains with their own environment file either use sandstorm or snowstorm as appropriate. Use this as a basis to customize other terrains. By setting the Effects to Unlimited, the game makes use of a DirectX 10 post processing effect; the stock game's post processing shader generates a pointless and horrible bloom effect which excessively blinds the player during twilight transitions. By default, realSKY includes a reworked post processing shader (TWPOSTPROCESS.FX) which provides more contrast, more vignetting, minor color correction and a daytime-only bloom effect, so it's miles better than what the stock game offers. Alternative post processing tweaks are included in the Alternative Shaders folder; choose the one you wish to try (check the included screenshots for fast comparisons) and overwrite the default one in your mod's Flight folder. If you don't care about the post processing effect, you may want to set the game's Effects to High in the Options menu. >Credits (in no particular order): -Cellinsky, for his fantastic widesky mod from which I borrowed some tweaks. -Stary, for his Thunderstorm and Heavy Snowfall weather mods, and his SARCASM 2 beta mod from which I borrowed some effects. -PanamaRed, for tweaks in regards to Clouds (especially the Broken weather ones). -Fubar512 and Brain32, for their Cloud Layer Top bitmaps, which I have smoothed for a better looking effect. -ShrikeHawk, for his CloudSkins mods, from which I took the spectacular cloud graphics. -BearGryllis, for his Thunderstorm Pack With Enhanced Lightnings 2.0b package. -Orsin, for his Improved Rain Effect and Heavy Rain 0.8 mods. -luk1978, for his interesting WeatherEffect package. -ArmedLightning, for his Special FX v2.2 mod for the GTR 2 game, from which I borrowed a lens flare effect. -baffmeister, for the idea of recreating sandstorm weather effects. -tiopilotos, for suggesting improvements on other subjects. -Eagle114th, for his Improved Wingtip Vortex mod which I have reworked. -JosefK, guuruu and Coupi, for their interest and support. I included the original readme files from the mentioned mods, where available, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not. >Disclaimer: This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages. This mod may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

you could always rework existing bases with the wealth of ground objects and buildings out there. ini editing and skinning/decalling are the cheapest mods to work. just go into the guts of it and ask questions (with pics or code to highlight your roadbloack) It captures the mindset of the modders best to quote the phrase "Ooh Shiny!"

Dear friends, The Spring has come and in today's Dev Blog, after some delay, we're returning to our main project - Bodenplatte. This delay in the news has been caused by the fact that during the Winter all the work on this project was made at a deep level - it was hard to make a screenshot of something - but it was a hard work nevertheless. This was known beforehand and planned this way. If you were following us for some time, you may recall that such visible pauses in the development news in the middle of a development cycle happened in all our previous projects and are a result of the effective work and division of labor. But today we finally have some intermediate results to show, and there a lot of them. First, we can disclose more details about the map of the project. Previously we mentioned only its size and location, but today we can tell you more information. There will be more than 200 settlements of various sizes. Air forces of the opposing forces will take off from more than 100 airfields. The total length of all roads will exceed 20000 km. The reachable zone of the map is 129859 square kilometers (400.8 x 324 km) while the entire map is 176947 square km (460.8 x 384 km). The preliminary list of the cities we plan to have ready at the time of release follows: Antwerp The Hauge Liege Frankfurt am Main Dortmund Münster Cologne (Köln) Bonn Gent Rotterdam Charleroi Amsterdam Düsseldorf Aachen Bruxelles Arnhem Duisburg Essen Apeldoorn Maastricht Again, if you have followed our development before, you may notice that the parameters of the new map are breaking the record once again. This is also the first map to be released with all four seasons simultaneously - a hard challenge for the entire team. To be able to complete the project before the set deadline without compromising quality, our Lead Map Artist Evgeny Isaev has found new methods of development and large cities creation. Also, Evgeny has designed artistic approaches that will not simply repeat the visual quality of the previous maps but will also give players a new visual feel that is characteristic for flying over Western Europe. But enough words, it is time to show you something new - on these screenshots you can see the central areas of Bruxelles, Liege, and Köln: But these map development news are not the only ones we have. We can show you the progress we have made on the three coming planes: P-38J-25 heavy fighter, B-25 heavy bomber (AI only), and Me 262 A jet fighter. For the first one of them, P-38J-25, we have used a new approach of creating the exterior and interior 3D models in parallel, not subsequently - at the early stage the model is divided into exterior and interior parts and the coordinates of their seams are stored, then both models are being worked on simultaneously to be connected back at the final step. This aircraft, of course, is unbelievable, what can we say - it's a legend: The B-25 bomber will be AI-only in this project, but we'll try to make its exterior 3D and physical model at the same quality level as our player controllable aircraft. First, this is important for those who will be attacking or defending these planes in the Career mode, campaigns, single scenarios and Coop multiplayer. Second, who knows - perhaps a possibility to make it flyable will reveal itself in the future: The exterior 3D model of Me 262 A "Schwalbe" is completely done, including the official skins. The interior (cockpit) model is almost done (currently the artists are working on its texturing), while our engineers are working on its FM and the physical model of a jet engine. When you look at this legendary aircraft, you can't help but think that it was ahead of its time: To finish today's Dev Blog, we would like to congratulate the beautiful half of humanity on the coming holiday - International Women's Day. Dear girls, be happy! You can discuss the news in this thread

Today I have some pictures for you from the development team. I apologize that they are in an archive on other site (see my PS). As you can notice (I wanted to be a surprise) the team is doing its best to implement the original rotating cruise missile bays. Enjoy! https://files.fm/u/kc94uuhg PS - I used this method and not direct on this page because I keep getting the message that I can publish 64kb only. I don't know what it means but if it's website related I would ask nicely a moderator to solve this for me. Thank you

Green Hell 3.5 Enhancement Package for the SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack This package contains a set of enhancements for CA_Stary's Green Hell 3.5 (GH 3.5) replacement tile set for the ThirdWire VietnamSEA terrain. It is primarily designed for users who are using GH 3.5 in conjunction with the SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack. This mod package makes the following enhancements to Green Hell 3.5 with the SF2V Expansion Pack: 1. Replaces the main air base tile with a new one designed to better belend into the surrounding terrain -- i.e., no more expansive green lawns surrounding all the air bases. The "jungle" air base tile is unchanged. 2. Replaces the ground TGAs used for many barracks areas in the lower Route Packs of North Vietnam with new TGAs that allow the barracks areas to more naturally blend in with the surrounding terrain. 3. Replaces the bright, aqua blue water tiles of GH 3.5 with a darker, greyer set of water tiles, which (at least to my eyes) look more natural. 4. Replaces the default WaterNormal.BMP used in GH 3.5 with a new WaterNormal that produces more pronounced wave effects. If you are not using Green Hell 3.5 (the SF2V Expansion Pack by default uses an enhanced version of CA_Stary's Green Hell 2.0 tile set), there is no purpose in installing this enhancement package. It is designed strictly for Green Hell 3.5, not any earlier version (including 3.0). ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation is simple: copy all of the files in the \ForVietnamTerrains folder to the \Terrains\VietnamSEA terrain folder in your Mods directory. Allow Windows to overwrite files as prompted. If you have also installed GH 3.5 to the SouthVietnam terrain included with the SF2V Expansion Pack, copy the same files to the \Terrains\SouthVietnam folder in your Mods directory. That's it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes on GH 3.5 w/ the SF2V Expansion Pack ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As noted above, the SF2V Expansion Pack ships with an enhanced version of Green Hell 2.0 tile set. The numerous custom target areas in the Expansion Pack were hand-placed with an eye towards exploiting the particular visual features of the GH 2.0 tile set in order to make buildings, vehicles look as though they "belonged" in the places you find them. As the GH 3.5 tile set is a complete departure from (not a mere revision of) the GH 2.0 tile set, some of the ground target items might look a bit oddly placed in some target areas with GH 3.5. Thankfully, the GH 3.5 tile set is quite forgiving visually speaking (much more than the earlier GH 3.0) -- so much so that in most cases the worst you'll see is trees crowding buildings just a bit too much. ~~~~~~~ Credits ~~~~~~~ CA_Stary ............... SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1 ** End Game, 1974-1975 ** This is an add-on package for the "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1" available at CombatAce. This add-on includes three new campaigns, all based on the events of late-1974 and early 1975, when North Vietnam launched its final campaign to conquer South Vietnam and re-unify the country. Also included are a number of new aircraft and other items to fill out these new campaigns. This add-on package is designed to be applied over the top of an existing installation of version 2.1 of the Expansion Pack with the latest update package applied as well as the VPAF Add-on Pack. You can download the four main Expansion Pack files here: Part 1: http://combatace.com/files/file/10189-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-1/ Part 2: http://combatace.com/files/file/10190-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-2/ Part 3: http://combatace.com/files/file/10192-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-3/ Part 4: http://combatace.com/files/file/10193-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-4/ The VPAF Add-on for the SF2V Expansion Pack was released in Feb. 2011 as a separate download: http://combatace.com/files/file/11794-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-vpaf-add-on/ The latest update package for the Expansion Pack can be found here: Sept. 2013 Update: http://combatace.com/files/file/10466-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-sep-2013-update/ Please take a look over the remainder of this ReadMe before installing this add-on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Requirements ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The minimum requirements for this add-on package are the same as for the latest cumulative update for the Sf2V Expansion Pack. ** Minimum Requirements: SF2V + SF2 + SF2E In addition to SF2V you must also have "Strike Fighters 2" (SF2, with the Desert terrain) as well as "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) as part of your base install of Strike Fighters 2. SF2 and SF2E are required in order to provide several aircraft that are not included in SF2V. ** Support for SF2NA This update adds support for installations that include SF2NA, but SF2NA is not required. ** Patch Levels This update supports several different patch levels: 1. Jun2009b: the last patch level before Dec2009, which introduced support for DX10. The first phase of the install process for this update provides all the files necessary for the Jun2009b patch level. Those on later patch levels will need to proceed with the additional install steps in order to pick up the updated files for later patch levels. 2. post-Mar2012: any patch level from Mar2012 through the most recent patches in 2013 is also supported. Files unique to these patch levels are installed in later steps during the install process described below. ** VPAF Add-on The VPAF Add-on for the SF2V Expansion Pack was released in Feb. 2011 as a separate download: http://combatace.com/files/file/11794-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-vpaf-add-on/ This Add-on is now required in order to install this update package. The update process has been built on the assumption that the VPAF Add-on package is installed (with its alternate campaigns and several aircraft updates). If you have not already downloaded and installed the VPAF Add-on package, please do so before trying to install this update. ** Latest Cumulative Update for the SF2V Expansion Pack You should have the latest cumulative update for the Expansion Pack installed before applying this add-on package. Currently the latest update is the Sept. 2013 Update: http://combatace.com/files/file/10466-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-sep-2013-update/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The installation process has three phases: one for the main add-on files; a second for users with the Mar2012 or later patch levels of SF2V; a third for users with SF2NA merged into their SF2V installs. Here's how to apply this update package: 1. Ensure that SF2V, SF2, and SF2E are all properly installed & updated as part of a merged install. 2. Ensure that the Expansion Pack v. 2.1 (Mar. 2010) is installed to your SF2V Mod Folder, that the VPAF Add-on in installed, and that the latest update package for the Expansion Pack is applied. (See above for links to all components mentioned here.) 3. Unpack SF2V_AG-XP_v2_74-75.7z to a safe place on your drive. 4. Open the \1_All_Patch_Levels folder. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder sub-folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. 5. If you are running SF2V at the Mar2012 or later patch level, open the \2_Mar2012_Patch folder. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder sub-folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. 6. If your SF2V installation includes SF2NA, open the \3_SF2NA folder. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder sub-folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. At this point the main add-on is installed and you're ready to play the new campaigns. If you would like to install the optional A-37A/B Dragonfly or DLC F-4N aircraft, please read the next sections. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installing the A-37A/B Dragonfly ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One important aircraft in the inventory of the VNAF (South Vietnamese Air Force) was the A-37B Dragonfly, which first went through a combat evaluation program ("Combat Dragon") conducted by the USAF in the late '60's. A number of "Super Tweets" found their way into the inventory of the VPAF (Vietnamese People's Air Force) after the collapse of South Vietnam in April 1975 and were used by the newly unified Vietnam when it intervened in Cambodia against the Khmer Rouge. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to distribute the LODs (3D model files) for the A-37A and A-37B. Thus, by default, the South Vietnam campaigns substitute the B-57B Canberra in the ground-attack role for the VNAF. (The VNAF actually did briefly fly the Canberra in 1965-66, but eventually abandoned the aircraft after numerous problems cropped up in the training program for VNAF pilots.) In the \Optional directory, however, you will find all the files you need (minus the LODs) to add the A-37s to the game. In order to use the A-37s, though, you must first procure the LODs from the A-Team Skunkworks site (in the "3rd Party Mods" section): http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/3rd_Party.html Download the A-37A and A-37B packages, unzip the files, and copy the .LOD files from each aircraft to the corresponding aircraft folders in the \Optional\A-37s directory. Don't forget to copy the cockpit LODs to the \Cockpit folder in each aircraft. Once you've added the LOD files to the aircraft folders, you may install the aircraft to \Objects\Aircraft directory in your Mod Folder. The South Vietnam campaigns are set up so that they will automatically use the A-37Bs in lieu of the B-57Bs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installing the DLC F-4N Phantom II ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also included as an optional aircraft is the ThirdWire DLC F-4N Phantom II. If the DLC F-4N is included in your base install, you may install the supporting files from \Optional\DLC\F-4N. To install it in lieu of the F-4N that is installed by default (and which is a mod of the F-4B_67): 1. Remove the existing F-4N from the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your Mods folder. (Leave the decals for the F-4N in \Objects\Decals.) 2. Move the F-4N folder from \Optional\DLC to \Objects\Aircraft in your Mods folder. Once installed, the DLC F-4N will be automatically used by the game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary of New Campaigns ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This add-on supplies three new campaigns set in 1974-75 for the Expansion Pack. Two of these campaigns are based on counterfactual history -- namely, an imagined alternate history in which President Richard Nixon somehow survives the Watergate scandal and intervenes once again in Southeast Asia as South Vietnam buckles in the face of North Vietnam's "Ho Chi Minh Campaign." The third campaign is an updated version of MiGBuster's "The Last Stand '75" campaign, based on the actual historical circumstances of South Vietnam's collapse and eventual defeat. The three new campaigns are as follows: - Linebacker '75: a counterfactual historical campaign -- Nixon survives Watergate and goes on the war path when the Democratic Republic of Vietnam appears to have Republic of Vietnam on the ropes in early 1975. (Note: This campaign should not be confused with the "Linebacker III" campaign released for WOV by Malibu43 and set in the '80's.) - The Last Stand '75: an update of MiGBuster's historical 1974-75 VNAF campaign for SF2V. - Ho Chi Minh Campaign: essentially an alternate version of "The Last Stand," but with the counterfactual historical background of Linebacker '75, allowing the player to fly U.S. aircraft in support of South Vietnam from bases in Thailand, Yankee Station, and Dixie Station. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Note on the New SouthVietnam75 Terrain ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This add-on installs an alternate version of SouthVietnam terrain (SouthVietnam75). This alternate terrain incorporates many (but not all) of the additions made by MiGBuster to the southernmost regions of North Vietnam (Route Packs I and II) as well as South Vietnam. Although this alternate terrain should be compatible with earlier campaigns set in 1965-1972, we have nonetheless elected to offer this modified South Vietnam terrain as a separate terrain instead of just folding in the changes and updates to the existing South Vietnam terrain. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Historical Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although all three campaigns are rooted to some extent in actual historical events, we necessarily worked from incomplete, limited historical data. In particular, the two "counterfactual" or "fictional" campaigns required us to speculate on how a U.S. intervention in Southeast Asia during 1974-1975 might have unfolded. Moreover, we have taken some liberties in constructing these campaigns in order to enhance game play. - U.S. units/squadrons are based on data we were able to scrounge on the internet from various sources. We looked at WestPac carrier deployments for '74-75 and what squadrons were on those cruises with what aircraft. USMC squadrons are all either West Coast squadrons or squadrons that were visiting or based in the Pacific (Australia, Japan, the Phillipines) during that time period. USAF squadrons are pretty close to those in Linebacker II, with some exceptions based (again) on data we were able to find about those units. - The VNAF is much more active and aggressive in the South Vietnam campaigns than it was historically. Although nominally the 4th largest air force in the world (following the transfer of large numbers of aircraft from the U.S. in the "Operation Enhance" and "Enhance Plus" programs of 1972-1973), the VNAF lacked the training and equipment to employ this large inventory of aircraft effectively against invading PAVN (North Vietnamese) forces. - VPAF aircraft do appear in both South Vietnam campaigns. This is not historically correct. The VPAF played almost no role in the '75 Ho Chi Minh campaign, and the few air-to-ground sorties conducted against targets in the South were actually flown by VNAF defectors in F-5s and A-37s. We have included the VPAF, flying from airfields in Route Packs I and II, as this makes the campaigns more interesting, esp. with the addition of Il-28s (which the VPAF received from the Soviet Union in late 1965). We have included MiGBuster's documentation for his original "The Last Stand '75" campaign in the \OriginalDocs folder. These files contain more information about the original VNAF campaign was created. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What's Included ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This add-on includes the following new fixes & updates for the Expansion Pack: NEW AIRCRAFT - A-37A/B Dragonfly (optional, see note above) - A-4F_74 Skyhawk - A-4M_73 Skyhawk - A-6E Intruder - A-7D_75 Corsair II - A-7E_74 Corsair II - F-4D_75 Phantom II - F-4E_75 Phantom II - F-4J_74 Phantom II - F-4N Phantom II - F-14A Tomcat - F-111D Aardvark MISC UPDATES & ADDITIONS - added three new campaigns set in 1974-1975 (see summary above) - added medals pack for North & South Vietnam - added new skins for the USAF F-4D_75 & and F-4E_75 - added drop tanks for new aircraft - added alternate version of SouthVietnam terrain (SouthVietnam75) that includes new target areas for the 1974-75 time period (see note above) - added SA-6 launcher and radar - added VNAF pilots for A-37B Dragonfly - added several new engine sounds ~~~~~~~ Credits ~~~~~~~ This update contains a number of new items from the following modders who generously allowed their use: MiGBuster .......................... original Last Stand '75 campaign dtmdragon .......................... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1 - VPAF Add-On ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is an add-on package for the "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1" available at CombatAce. This add-on makes most major aircraft of the Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF) flyable with custom third-party cockpits and avionics. It also contains "Red" versions of the three main SF2V campaigns, allowing you to fly VPAF MiGs against opposing USAF, USN, & USMC aircraft. This add-on package is designed to be applied over the top of an existing installation of version 2.1 of the Expansion Pack with the latest update package applied. You can download the four main Expansion Pack files here: Part 1: http://combatace.com/files/file/10189-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-1/ Part 2: http://combatace.com/files/file/10190-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-2/ Part 3: http://combatace.com/files/file/10192-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-3/ Part 4: http://combatace.com/files/file/10193-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-4/ The latest update package for the Expansion Pack can be found here: Jan. 2012 Update: http://combatace.com/files/file/10466-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-jan-2012-update/ You should have the latest updates for the Expansion Pack before applying this add-on package. Please take a look over the remainder of this ReadMe before installing the update. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The installation process has two phases: one for the main add-on files; a second for optional aircraft. Here's how to apply this update package: 1. Ensure that SF2V is properly installed & updated. 2. Ensure that the Expansion Pack v. 2.1 (Mar. 2010) is installed to your SF2V Mod Folder and that the latest update package for the Expansion Pack is applied. 3. Unpack SF2V_AG-XP_v2_VPAF.7z to a safe place on your drive. 4. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. 5. Now open the \Optional directory, which contains different versions of the MiG-17 and MiG-17PF. Note that what you install from the \Optional directory is determined by whether or not your SF2V installation also includes Strike Fighters 2: Europe (SF2E) as part of a "merged install." - MiG-17PF The original Expansion Pack supplies two different versions of the MiG-17PF. By default a third-party "mod" version was installed. Optionally, users with installations that included SF2E could replace the "mod" version with the stock 3rdWire version. The \Optional directory in this add-on package contains updated files for both versions. (Hint: the third-party "mod" version is identified in-game as the MiG-17PF Fresco-E; the stock 3rdWire verison is identified as the MiG-17PF Fresco-D.) Choose the version that you have installed, and apply the updated files for that version to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. - MiG-17 The original Expansion Pack supplies a substitute, optional version of the MiG-17 for those using installations that do not include SF2E. If you installed this optional/substitute version of the MiG-17 (because your install lacks SF2E), then apply the updated files for that version to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. (If your install includes SF2E, then you do not need to install the updates for the substitute version of the MiG-17, as you're using the original 3rdWire version available in SF2E.) That's it. You should be good to go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What's Included ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This add-on package supplies the following updates for your SF2V Expansion Pack install: - cockpits and related files to make most VPAF fighters flyable - new engine sounds for VPAF MiGs - new Hangar & Loading screens for flyable MiGs - "Red" versions of the three main SF2V campaigns: 1.
