Also, it doesn't hurt to run SF2 (and FE2) in Win7 compatibility mode too - on Win10. I run them that way and I've had no CTDs at all. Same advice applies to the OBD sims (WOFF/WOTR), as well as IL2-1946.** For ROF I haven't noticed any benefits to running in Win7 comp. mode. **For IL2-1946, don't forget also to enable "DEP protection" only for essential programs (in the relevant setting in the control panels, "system"), otherwise it doesn't load on Win10. believe it is worth of trying..can result in interesting behavior...you can also experiment with puting them in 3/4 of that distance...but it also depends on COG and reference area of a model. if rudder will be enough to make a hard turn on low-speed then maybe rcs on yaw is not important. trial and error is my friend on helos...and moonshine. cheers m8

I just completed my set-up for the X52 Pro joystick and I love it. so many wires. What I really want next is a nice flight simulator chair. I was thinking of something like this, and I really would like your help to find a good chair that is affordable.

From the Thirdwire forum (archive): Post by ThirdWire » Sat Dec 20, 2008 1:56 am: OnGroundPitchAngle is the angle the object is first placed, but once the object is placed, its final resting place depends on where your gears are and what their shock values are. So check your wheels data.

Svetlin I think the entry you're searching is : [AircraftData] ... OnGroundPitchAngle= though it doesn't make much for the stance on the ground. ------------------------------------- I agree with all you said in your post about the factors that make the plane sits on its wheels. In my opinion there's something more : the shock animations, or the shock travel value / spring factor /damping factor. In the game the stock values for the landing gear is too stiff. But if you lower the spring factor value, it doesn't always lower the plane as well. It might be a combination of all the factors mentioned, but it requires some tests and checking. The first would be the "ShockStroke=" and the "RollingRadius=" using Mue's LOD viewer, it's easy.

I have a standard Saitek X52 and it's a great joystick for SF2. It has a decent amount of buttons on it, but you'll definitely need to decide what functions in game you want to have immediate access to. I like it though. :)

I have one, its a good stick , however sometimes under win 10 it can be finicky, it needs to use USB 2 really, so on a lot of machines not all the USB ports are 2.0 some are 3 and other iterations, this can cause the stick to be awkward or not work quite how you would like it to, but there are work arounds, also some of the keys, even under Win 7 are not picked up by the sim, for some unknown and arcane reason. That being said, the throttle quadrant, although a single throttle, not a split one, is very nice, the stick I have heard some people moaning its a bit sloppy, however I have never had issues with it. So, until you can afford a Warthog, then it is a good and serviceable bit of kit, the Saitek rudder pedals are decent as well, they have toe brakes as well as the rudder function, the stick does have an in built ruder twist grip which works just fine as well, altogether a better option than the newer X56 , which apparently is a bag of shite.

I've got the X56. If you ever used the X36 or the X45, it'll be a snap to use. I had the X45 for about six years before it finally bit the dust, and I eventually migrated back to the X56. Windows 10 will work with the X52 Pro with next to no compatibility issues. After Logitech bought the designs from Mad Catz, there have been steady improvements in QA. A lot of people complained about the quality of the X56 when I first came out, I have one of the latest builds of it and Logitech has done some solid work in making them much more reliable. I would buy an X52 with no reservations. I just had my Thrustmaster T16000M FCS die on me and I was not going back to that. TM's quality doesn't feel nearly as solid as Logitech's to me.

To be more precise, the issue is due to the Effects setting. Effects should be set to High, everything else can be set to Unlimited, AFAIK. As I stated countless times, with Effects set to Unlimited, the game uses specific DirectX 10 calls which have been implemented poorly, I guess.

Quite so but as I said early it is feasible to bring YAP3 up to SF2 standards by editing FMs and else, except for the models, thus obviously remain as they are due to the copyright of the owner and just as with Sf stock objects, you can't distribute them without consent. Some modders have already upgraded some YAP3 models, mostly ships to work along SF2NA. The main problem is the required testing and understanding of making anything SF2 workable which translates into time and the ability of those few who know what to do.

IIRC it was intended for SF Wings over Vietnam. Although the conversion of several items from YAP3 to the SF2 platform is possible, it requires you to know what is to be tweaked and according to the type in regard (say the terrain, effects, weps etc) the lines to be changed or added may vary. I acquired YAP3 for the carriers and some unique models to YAP mostlyand with some help I've finally used a few and managed to land and takeoff in each L and R with aid of the mission editor. Out of that tool I haven't tried them out nor I know whether it will be possible to perform those task. I shall keep checking it so I can point out some highlights.

Hey folks, After a few weeks spent with IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte plus the intervening two years of development, I wanted to present to you my full review for IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte. This latest title is more evolution than revolution that iterates on the series while giving us some legendary aircraft to fly. I think the developers made the right choice picking a late war western front scenario and I think the features and iterative evolution of the series over these last two years have made the IL-2 series stronger than ever. https://stormbirds.blog/2019/12/03/il-2-battle-of-bodenplatte-full-review/ I hope you enjoy the review and I of course welcome others to share their own take on reviewing IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte!
