I always start on the runway and use the Alt+T x2/x4/x8 features to get around quicker rather than "light speed". However, if I remember correctly, the square icon (the one that's always present before the triangle one) on the Mission Editor and Mission Planning maps decide where you'll start / come out of light speed - if you move that further back from the action then that should solve your issue.

View File Mistral missile manpads MISTRAL MANPADS mod by GKABS Only for SF2 1) Historical background MISTRAL MANPADS is a very short-range air defense weapon system, firing the MISTRAL, latest generation fire-and-forget missile. It features a lightweight man-portable launcher. It can be easily transported and operated from the ground, a vehicle, a building, or a ship. MISTRAL MANPADS is normally operated by a gunner and a crew commander. However, if the mission is carried out in a simple tactical environment, it can be operated by one single soldier. are they older effects inis, like for, and imported from, FE1? If so, check inside and see if they have the proper statements for DX10. There should be statements, probably near the bottom, that would have ****.fx. The effects shaders and stuff. just thinking out loud

I recommend tinkering with the following three entries for "ExhaustEmitterName" in the data inis of aircraft, installed in FE2: CleanExhaustEmitter (misleading name since this is the "dirtiest" emitter in FE2, gives a wide, thin stretch of greyish smoke behind the aircraft) InlineExhaustEmitter (usually gives a thin, white stream of smoke, as if from an exhaust stack, especially good for inline engines and a favorite of Geezer's if I remember correctly) RotaryExhaustEmitter (basically gives no exhaust effect) (If I can dig up my old, long post for correct order of install effects in FE2...I will re-link it here.) EDIT: Here is the link (to an old post) that suggests a good order for effects installation in FE2 - if certain effects are missing, etc. (https://combatace.com/forums/topic/88700-fe2-bad-framerates/?tab=comments#comment-716531). I'm working on updating the AIM-9 (and other types) in the game. Started already back in 2018. First release will be using stock 3d, a 2nd release with (hopefully) as many accurate 3d as possible later on. This update/mod will change the way the player has to employ the missile. Accurate aiming (pulling the sight/aiming mark/reticle directly on the target) is required to get a seeker lock-on. Until now, it is easy to get a lock-on because the missile seekers are set up by default to act as a "super-seeker", covering the full seeker gimbal angles. With that removed, its more fun/challenging to fight with IR missiles and it also makes more sense to actually use the radar for targeting. That works (seeker slaved to radar) only with few AIM-9 types, the 9L, 9M, 9P-5, 9JULI and the 9X. The AIM-4D also has this function and the French Magic 2. To be continued..

if your adding a 'standard' airfield, you just need to copy/paste the target area listing into the TARGETS ini; not the types ini. The only time you'd edit the Types ini is to ADD a new object. you need the x/y coordinates, and that its. other than flattening

The VKK-6 suit was widely used, but only for flight at high altitutes. Lets say 10.000 m plus. For combat missions close to the earth up to medium altitutes the PPK-1 was worn.

I continue to experiment with SF2 VR and with the framerate locked at 80 fps, it is an amazing experience. SF2 is still the only semi-modern sim (as opposed to Jane's Fighters Anthology and Jane's USAF, which are much older and inferior to SF2 in most respects) where I can fly the F-4 in combat against excellent AI MiG opponents in historical environments like Vietnam and Israel. The FSX/P3d F-4s available from Milviz (F-4E/J/S) and Simworks Studios (F-4B/N) are a joy to fly, but VR runs like crap in P3d and the environment doesn't have AI opponents that you can dogfight. If you like clubbing baby seals, shooting down Cessnas and airliners works great in FSX/P3d with TacPack, but it isn't a true combat flight sim experience. SF2's terrains are obsolete compared to DCS World, even with the texture upgrades, but they are still the only way to fly decent combat missions over Vietnam and Israel in a historical context. The mix of SF2 and VR is a very good experience. I recommend it to anyone who owns both the SF2 series and has VR.

Yep, I do remember the test with the Magic. I have also changed/updated the warhead explosive mass for my mod. Most stock missiles have the complete warhead weight set for the explosive mass. The real amount is much less. Ive gone one step further. Ive converted the several different explosive types to their TNT equivalent. The results are between 4.9 kg and 6.2 kg explosive mass for the AIM-9's. Combined with the increased fuzing distance, the results are more damaged targets and less immediate fiery explosions.

Great-looking work, I'm looking forward to it, thanks Gepard. One small historical note, relating to the River Thames, since this is a WW2 terrain - HMS Belfast was only moored in the Thames, opposite the Tower of London, in 1971. She was not there during WW2.

Nah its just a teensy weensy misunderstanding , mainly propagated by my misrepresentation of the TSR 2 for illustration purposes, I doubt it will denigrate into a full on claws out bitchin' match ...........and the F-35 is shit......this is my opinion......just sayin'
  46. 1 point
I do not doubt the possibilities of TSR 2 , had she been given the backing she needed, however, the story of over spending and over runs in development killed her off, and as I said in my previous post she had to be curtailed , although the reasons were most definitely misguided and ill advised, and I admit it is a poor comparison perhaps, however we then ended up with Canberra , which was and until recently still is a superb aircraft, we also had Buccaneer, an aircraft that no other nation could match in its given role !! So yes TSR 2 given enough time would have certainly become a world class warplane. I was merely using TSR 2 as an example of a money pit of horrendous proportions, and thus a similar issue to that of the F-35....However, the F-35 is just shite, it has zero redeeming factors, its a crap dog fighter, compared to even the Mig 29 or Su 35 , F16 or F 15 , its ground attack capabilities are piss poor , akin to the F117 which lets be honest though ground breaking for stealth tech etc, was about as useful as an ashtray on a Motorcycle , which is why the US still utilise dyed in the wool 100% proven aircraft such as the B1B and B52 . The Gr7 Harrier was a more effective attack aircraft for goodness sake, ok the avionics and airframes were getting on a bit , however it did the job, and probably to update and repair would have been a heck of a lot less that this POS I wish to state that I adore the TSR 2 , and I should not have used her as an example maybe, other than to illustrate the Cost over runs and development over runs that are twice as bad in F- shitty 5 .

From Battersea Park to London City Port, the tiles are layed out. 21 kilometers of photorealistic tiling in 1024x1024 pixel tiles. Only one negative aspect. It cant made with TGA files, because one single tile would have a size of 4097 kb. In jpeg a tile has the size of 250 - 350 kb.

My review is up at amazon and there are two other reviews plus one rating with no visible review. Out of four ratings, this book has scored five stars every single time. So, I am not alone in thinking this is a really good book. While four reviews isn't many, having all four be five stars is a pretty nice start.
