12 pointsDassault Aviation Mirage IIICX - 3 Staffel, Austrian Air Force, 1999 By the late 1970's it was clear that Austria's small force of sub-sonic Saab 105's were completely inadequate to defend Austrian airspace with reports suggesting that the Saab 105's even struggled to intercept stray business jets. In 1980 the Austrian Air Force announced a formal requirement for 30 modern fighter aircraft to replace the Saab 105's in the interception role from about 1985 onwards and allow the Saab 105's to remain in service as advanced training aircraft with a secondary surveillance role. In response, British Aerospace offered ex-Saudi Air Force Lightning F.Mk53's but the Austrian Air Force immediately rejected this offer due to the poor condition of the airframes and the Lightning's notoriously high maintenance costs. Saab offered Austria reconditioned J 35D Draken fighters and this appeared to be the front runner during 1981 but to everyone's surprise the contract for Austria's new fighter aircraft was awarded to Dassault Aviation for 30 refurbished ex-Armée de l'Air Mirage IIIC aircraft as the Mirage IIICX powered by the uprated SNECMA Atar 09K-50 engine developing 15,900lbs thrust in reheat. Entering service with 3 Staffel in April 1986 the Mirage IIICX's served the Austrian Air Force well and were eventually replaced by ex-Armée de l'Air Mirage 2000's during 2006-2008. 1 pointDear Friends! Today’s DD is not long, but wanted to say that in addition to working on many aircraft, features and improvements, we’re also making some moves internally with the addition of, and search for, new personnel while adding responsibilities to others. This adds overhead costs to our operation which we hope will pay for itself in time, but we ask that you continue your financial support of Sturmovik throughout this spring and summer and al of 2021 by purchasing new content and buying gifts for your friends, family and squadron-mates. And please remember, purchases made directly in the IL-2 Official Webstore benefit the team the most! Without further delay, here are the first pics of the work-in-progress Nieuport 28.C1 for Flying Circus: Volume II. The N28 drafts the U.S. Air Service in the war and her slender lines make her a real beauty. Also notice our new Tactical Codes technology is present. The damage model is next up for her as well as DVD adaptation. …. Geronimo!!! No invasion of Normandy can be complete without paratroopers! These guys will be jumping from our C-47s later this year after they are properly animated. Enjoy your Easter weekend if you celebrate it and see you in the skies and the battlefields! The Sturmovik Team

1 pointHi guys, just looking for some last minute advice before I hit the order button on this: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X GPU: nVidia GeForce MSI Ventus 3X OC RTX 3080 PSU: Kolink Continuum 850W RAM: 64GB Corsair DDR4 3000MHz C16 (2x 32GB) Cooler: MSI MAG CORELIQUID 240R Drive: Samsung 1TB 980 PCI-E 4.0 X4 NVMe (already have several external drives available if additional storage required) My thoughts/concerns at this point: For the CPU I gather there are better value options when looked at from a cost per core perspective, not sure though I'd be making a noticeable gain in MSFS (or DCS for that matter) by upgrading further? On cooling I'm debating whether to go with the 360R over the 240R - its going to be my first venture into liquid cooling, not so sure I's going to make much of a difference tbh. Planning to run MSFS and DCS on this build, likely very little else. Don't really plan on VR initially though I do want it to be an option down the road.

1 pointThat's what I had in mind. Look at Logan's MiG-Ye8 for example, it has that tail-bumper : [TailSkid] SystemType=LANDING_GEAR Retractable=FALSE DragArea=0.0 IsSkid=TRUE NoContactOnGround=TRUE ContactPoint=0.0,-5.34,-0.7 MaxLoadFactor=0.5 As long as there's a mesh in the 3D model, or at least a shape of it, there's no problem to add it to any aircraft, like the Canberra / B-57. For the C-2, as it is an animated device, the shock/spring/damp entries should be used like Nyghtfall's example. The important thing not to forget is "NoContactOnGround=TRUE", or the wingmen will pile up on the runway after landing.

1 pointHere's an updated landing gear section for the TU-160. I got the main gear oleo's working in the proper direction and also got the main wheels rotating as well as some other edit's. Don't forget, this plane was posted as a beta/wip so you will probably find all kinds of issues and the FM is VERY undeveloped. // Landing Gears --------------------------------------------------------- [NoseGear] SystemType=LANDING_GEAR Retractable=TRUE DeployTime=10.0 AnimationID=1 DragArea=2.5 HideGearNode=TRUE ModelNodeName=gear_frnt ShockNodeName=Front_Shock ShockTravelAxis=Z-AXIS ShockStroke=0.6 SpringFactor=4.5 DampingFactor=4.0 WheelNodeName=tire_front RotationAxis=X-Axis ReverseWheelRotation=FALSE RollingRadius=0.425 CastoringWheel=TRUE CastoringNodeName=Castor_Front Steerable=TRUE MaxSteeringSpeed=41.15 Locking=FALSE MaxSteeringAngle=50.0 InputName=YAW_CONTROL ControlRate=1.0 HasBrakes=FALSE RollingCoefficient=0.01 MaxDeploySpeed=129.48 [LeftMainGear] SystemType=LANDING_GEAR Retractable=TRUE DeployTime=13.0 DragArea=5.0 AnimationID=1 HideGearNode=TRUE ModelNodeName=Gear_left ShockNodeName=shock_l ShockTravelAxis=Y-AXIS ShockStroke=0.8 SpringFactor=7.5 DampingFactor=6.0 WheelNodeName001=Wheel_L1 WheelNodeName002=Wheel_L2 WheelNodeName003=Wheel_L3 WheelNodeName004=Wheel_L4 RotationAxis=X-Axis RollingRadius=0.608 CastoringWheel=FALSE HasBrakes=TRUE BrakingCoefficient=0.75 RollingCoefficient=0.01 MaxDeploySpeed=129.48 [RightMainGear] SystemType=LANDING_GEAR Retractable=TRUE DeployTime=13.0 DragArea=5.0 AnimationID=1 HideGearNode=FALSE ModelNodeName=Gear_Right ShockNodeName=Shock_r ShockTravelAxis=Y-AXIS ShockStroke=0.8 SpringFactor=7.5 DampingFactor=6.0 WheelNodeName001=Wheel_R1 WheelNodeName002=Wheel_R2 WheelNodeName003=Wheel_R3 WheelNodeName004=Wheel_R4 RotationAxis=X-Axis RollingRadius=0.608 CastoringWheel=FALSE HasBrakes=TRUE BrakingCoefficient=0.75 RollingCoefficient=0.01 MaxDeploySpeed=129.48

1 pointI think I understand. Crawford, you noticed the issue when checking over the TU-160 in Mue's Lod viewer, correct? All 3 gear shocks are set on Animation ID-7 but as you noticed, the nose shock travel is incorrect. The TU-160 in game doesn't have that problem because the animation ID-7 is not being used. The shocks are set independently using the node name and travel axis approach. After some testing "in game" I noticed issues with the main gear shock travel axis so will try and fix that by adjusting the ShockTravelAxis=XXX. Will pass along the changes.
