    1. SARCASM: Slightly Artistic Representation (of) Clouds And Sky Mod

      This tiny mod is my modification of stock post-June11 environmentsystem.ini, that I created in spare time for own enjoyment. Incorporated are several tweaks and graphics files I created to slightly change the looks and feel of the SF2 series environment.

      Changes include:

      New, light blue sky colour for midday
      New, more purple, "cinematic" sky colours for sunrise/sunset
      Slightly modified fog colours
      Reduced sky glow for sunrise/sunset
      New, slighly bigger sun with new sun graphics
      New sun flare
      New clouds sizes and graphics for all weather types
      Now clear weather has some small fluffy clouds too
      New, bigger lens flares with new graphics
      Slightly bigger Moon
      New stars graphics
      New, stronger base winds and gusts for more dramatic smoke columns etc.
      Other tiny changes

      Please note: as of Expansion Pack 2, clouds height seems to be locked at specific untweakable altitude (=> ~10000 feet).
      I, aswell as others, tried various settings, even negative cloud base height values to no luck.

    3. GermanyCE enhanced tileset

      This is repainted, enhanced tileset of GermanyCE terrain from SF2 Europe.

      Version 1.1 -check changelog for list of updates.

      All roads have been darkened, now appear as medium gray; opposite to previous yellowish -white.
      All seasons have been replaced by new ones, slightly different than before. New seasons added -thaw before spring and early summer.
      All TOD files are new, taken strictly from "trees, buildings graphics, TODs update" recently released.
      Main G-type fields layout has been corrected and organised. Now layout is back more like it was in original TW tileset. Corresponding modified TODs included.
      As an experiment all bmp files have been replaced by jpg format for HDD space conservation.
      Tiles are 512x512, downsampled from 1024x1024 templates.

      This pack FULLY replaces any of my GermanyCE 4 seasons mods. You don't need to have previous version installed -if you do, all old files will be replaced by new ones.

    4. JetEngine Replacement Sound

      Hi all,

      This is a new JetEngine.WAV file to replace the old stock JetEngine.WAV. I have taken two files and imported them into Audacity and edited the levels and such to create what I think is a more authentic, universal jet engine sound for all stock, and 3rd party aircraft. It has more bass, and sound more like your hearing the aircraft from about a 100 feet away, instead of 2-3. For the most part, you can't really hear the fan blades and whine of a turbojet from 100 or more feet away. It's more of a roar. I had been looking for a sound like this for awhile, but I finally made it my self. Drop in your Sounds folder and overwrite when asked.

      Enjoy!

      Credits-These two files were merged together to create the final product:

      Guest-Strike fighters engine sounds-JetEngine

      Spillone104-Jet Sounds 3+Weapons-TT-1full

      Here is the recommended SOUNDLIST.ini entry for JetEngine:

      [JetEngine]
      Priority=NORMAL
      3DSound=TRUE
      DopplerEffect=FALSE
      Looped=TRUE
      FrequencyControl=TRUE
      NumBuffers=4
      MaxDist=3500.000000
      MinDist=100.000000

    5. Hi Res lightnings

      This is just a set of skins I've had lying around for ages now, they're set up as stand alone planes because they use slightly different bump maps than those supplied by TK, otherwise everything else is the same as stock.

      You can add the skins to the stock aircraft folders if you dont want any more planes in your menue and dont mind some details not lining up correctly in certain light conditions.

    6. VF-74 Be-Devilers F-14A+

      This skin is designed for The Mirage Factory F-14B Tomcat.

      The contained paint scheme is representative of the Be-Devilers shortly after they received the F-14A+ Tomcat, roughly around the 1988 timeframe. Looking at pictures of the Be-Devilers Turkeys from 1988-1991, I found the birds to be consistently painted in a lighter grey, which I found was similar to Dave's VF-41 MiG killers, so giving credit where it's due: I used his skin as the starting point. VF-74's Tomcats, during this timeframe, were very lo-viz; A/C #101 would eventually wear a red lightning bolt later on (and the Olympic rings during ODS). I also made the F110 "turkey feathers" a bit shinier, as the majority of the pictures I've seen of VF-74's F-14A+'s between 1988 and 1990 have pretty darn shiny feathers.

      VF-74 Be-Devilers were one of the later squadrons to receive the Tomcat, beginning transition from the F-4S in 1983. Aboard the USS Saratoga, VF-74 gained notoriety when their aircraft were assigned to force down a hijacked Egypt Air Boeing 737 in 1985 (this incident inspiring a similar scene in the movie Executive Decision). In 1988, VF-74 and VF-103 received the F-14A-Plus Tomcat, and flew these aircraft during Operation Desert Storm. Following the Navy's decision to draw down their Tomcat fleet (going from two squadrons to one per carrier) VF-74 wound up shore-side, directly under the command of COMFITWINGLANT, while their sister squadron (VF-103 Sluggers), whose Tomcats were equipped with TARPS, continued to go on cruise. The Be-Devilers became an aggressor squadron starting in 1993, flying against both Navy and Air Force blue forces during exercises and training. The following year, the Be-Devilers made one last cruise before being disestablished on 30 April, 1994.

      I was able to find 10 of the aircraft which served with VF-74 in the late 1980s-ODS. (Thanks also to EricJ for assistance here). Aircraft found herein:

      Install Instructions:

      Open your Strike Fighters 2 Mod Folder

      Drag the "Objects" file from VF-74 archive into the base mod folder (e.g. StrikeFighters2 Europe). I have the folder set up so it should go to the right place. If you don't trust that, navigate through Objects->Aircraft->F-14B and drag the VF74 folder into the aircraft folder. Then, go back, get to decals, and drop the VF74 decal file into your F-14B Decal folder.

      Texture Set is:
      [TextureSetxxx]
      Directory=VF74
      Name=VF-74 Be-Devilers
      Nation=USN
      Squadron=VF-74

    9. HR GermanyCE trees buildings TODs update

      This is small update to my HR GermanyCE 4-seasons terrain released in 2009.

      Purpose of this update is to replace trees and buildings graphics with new ones, hopefully for the better feel and looks.
      Also included are reworked .TOD files (files determinating population of tiles with objects) that make the trees more real-life size (as for Central Europe) and correct several tiles layout. As of some patches back, alpha-channel for buildings seems not supported, I removed all the "tricky" buildings that were using the apha channel for transparency effects (some fake lame windmills etc).

      Includes GermanyCE.ini and GermanyCE_data.ini files, updated to newest standards.

    14. Aermacchi MB-339A for SF2

      Macchi MB 339A Version 2.0 for Strike Fighter 2 by ID(io)T Team

      Development and operational history

      Aermacchi went on to perform an effective "facelift" on the MB-326 to create the "MB-339", a modernized derivative. The first of two "MB-339X" prototypes performed its initial flight on 12 August 1976, with the second following on 20 May 1977. The first of 107 production "MB-339A" trainers for the AMI performed its initial flight on 20 July 1978, with the type entering service in 1979.
      The MB-339 retained substantial commonality with the MB-326, differing mainly in a new forward fuselage with a raised cockpit, and twin ventral fins plus a taller tailfin to compensate for the loss in yaw stability due to the new forward fuselage. The MB-339 also featured updated systems, particularly rocket-boosted SICAMB / Martin Baker Mark 1T-10F ejection seats with "zero zero" (zero speed zero altitude) capability. However, the MB-339 retained the Viper 632-43 engine; Aermacchi had seriously considered replacing it with a more modern and fuel-economical engine, but the Viper was cheap, reliable, and had good performance. The engine was license-built by Piaggio. The MB-339 retained the six stores pylons of the MB-326G. It did not have built-in cannon, but cannon pods, dumb bombs, and rocket launchers were qualified as stores for the light attack role.The MB-339 has been export in Argentina where ten "MB-339AA" were obtained by the Argentine Navy (ARA), with the type operating against the British during the Falklands War in 1982. Other MB-339A users included Dubai (seven), Ghana (four), Malaysia (thirteen MB-339AM), Nigeria (twelve MB-339AN), and Peru (sixteen MB-339AP).

      The War Trial
      Lt Guillermo Owen Crippa, a young Argentine Fleet Air Arm pilot, was tasked as No 2 of an armed patrol from Stanley airfield shortly after sun-up. The other Aermacchi jet trainer became unserviceable, so Crippa launched on his own. Near Jersey Point he spotted a Royal Navy Lynx helicopter, but as he pulled up to dive on it, he also sighted the ‘enemy’ invasion force anchored in San Carlos Water. Crippa broke off, reported his discovery of the British to his controller in Stanley – and then announced his intention to attack.
      At low level and high speed he emerged from the radar shadow of Fanning Head, and fired all his podded Zuni rockets at HMS ARGONAUT. Crippa then engaged a RFA stores ship with his 30mm DEFA cannon, and before exiting the combat zone, took notes on the number and types of ship sheltering in San Carlos Water. He was subsequently awarded Argentina’s highest decoration for valour in combat. The British were also given a first taste of the courage and determination that characterizes Argentine military aviators.

    23. What If Polish F-18E/F

      By request from czarny900, this is a What If camo scheme for the F/A-18E and F versions (simply drop in the FA-18F directory) and go fly. The original camo is based off an old MiG-29 scheme, adapted for this aircraft.

    24. Spitfire MkVb, Op. Spotter, March 1942

      Spitfire MkVb, No.249 Sqn RAF, Takali, Malta, March 1942

      Malta stands in a key position in the middle of the Mediterranean, between Sicily and Libya, right on the main supply route for Axis forces in North Africa. For this reason, it came under constant attack from mid-1940 until late 1942 when the Allies took the initiative in North Africa. This is the longest siege in both British and Maltese history, and on 15th April 1942 King George VI awarded the island with the George Cross as a token of respect for its dogged and determined resistance.

      Initially, Malta was defended only by a handful of worn out Hurricanes which nonetheless gave a good account of themselves, but they were clearly not a match for the latest Bf109F fighters deployed by the Luftwaffe. The choice was simple - supply the island with Spitfires, or lose it.

      The difficult part of the operation involved actually getting the Spitfires to Malta in the first place. Shipping was being lost at an alarming rate, yet with the limited range of the Spitfire, flying them from Gibraltar was impossible. Finally, an underbelly slipper tank was designed, and a plan began to come together. The aircraft would be carried aboard HMS Eagle to a point off the Algerian coast from which they would be able to reach Malta with their last drops of fuel.

      The Spitfires were shipped to Gibraltar, assembled and made ready. The Eagle took them aboard and sailed to the fly-off point, dangerously close to a hostile coast... Only to find that the extra fuel tanks would not work owing to an undetected air-lock. The Navy was furious...

      On the second attempt on 7th March 1942, however, all aircraft bar one with fuel feed trouble took off successfully under the command of S/L Stan Grant, and flew the 660 mile journey to Malta without mishap. The way was open and Malta would survive.

      By the time the next delivery of a further 9 Spitfires took place two weeks later, only two of this initial batch were still airworthy.

      Serial numbers in this pack correspond to the aircraft used in Operation Spotter. All 16 were newly-built MkVb(T) aircraft, which explains their consecutive serial numbers. They were delivered in the typical Desert scheme of Midstone, Dark Earth and Azure Blue, and at the time of their epic flight, they did not yet carry individual letters. I have assigned these letters on a purely hypothetical basis as I have not been able to determine if they were in fact carried during service with 249 Sqn or not.

      For use ONLY with SF2 including the Israel Expansion Pack. This will NOT work if you do not have the stock TW Spitfires installed and working.

      Includes 2048 and 1024 size skin sheets.
