March 27, 1999 - A group of 4 F-117A stealth aircrafts are ready for take off from Aviano to strike targets near Belgrade Usually F-117As were escorted by EA-6B Prowlers but that night wasn't the case... Due to bad weather Prowlers were grounded and F-117As were finally ordered to strike their targets without escort because their structure made enemy air defense radars very difficult to detect them Yugoslav spies acquired this critical information and transmitted it to Yugoslav Army Formation of F-117As followed the usual flight path and dropped paveways at its targets However the 3rd Battalion of the 250th Air Defense Missile Brigade of the Yugoslav Army commanded by Lt. Colonel Zoltan Dani operated S-125M Neva-M (SA-3B Goa) SAM system had relocated and had been waiting for enemy aircrafts to reach the area. Zoltan's unit successfully acquired one of the targets After some seconds the 82-0806 callsign "Vega 31" was tracked by unit's fire control radar. Missiles were ready on their launchers PUCK !!! (Launch) V-601P missile getting close... F-117A was hit and crushed shortly after. The rest is history... 20th Anniversary !!!

Elements of CVW5 begin a series of probes of Chinese activity in the South China Sea... Running in low and fast, the plan is to get some good imagery of each island and then egress before the Chinese can react... But you know what they say about the best laid plans.... The response is swift and accurate... The flight regroups and heads for home... Is this going to escalate further???

Still too busy to do anything with this, maybe on the weekend. Some areas I was looking at that need edits were wing area, empty weight, and engine thrust. Not 100% sure which version of the Viper turbojet was used but anecdotal info indicates about 3500lbs ST or about 4000lbs ST, depending on source. More definitive info appreciated. Regarding the pitch up tendency, sometimes I can fix that by editing the H-Stab CL0/CLA tables at the appropriate mach number but it's a hit or miss affair. Will definitely check out all the latest updates prior to proceeding.

To add some useless Information: The first few A4D-2 (A-4B) also had no refueling probe initially and the Radar altimeter under the left outer wing (barely visible in the picture) came with the A4D-2N (A-4C).

After sifting through the archive of the thirdwire forum: Third Wire.7z I found the formula for thrust computation: Thrust = Power / Velocity * Efficiency Power is dependent on throttle setting and is multiplied with the coefficient from the altitude table Efficiency is taken from the prop efficiency table With the FM set to Normal the thrust (from debug output) matches this formula exactly. But with the FM set to Hard, the thrust in game is smaller. In the forum archive there is a thread "TK, ran into a constant speed prop thrust issue" that covers this issue: From TK: and If I understand this correctly then the InducedVelocity must be added to the Velocity in the thrust formula. But in the above formula the InducedVelocity is dependent on thrust (but for the thrust calculation I need the InducedVelocity). Maybe the thrust variable in the InducedVelocity formula is different to thrust calculated by the thrust formula? Does anybody have an idea and can shed some light on this?

A simple swap of Cl0 / Cla (Wings / Outerwings / H-Stabs) values with the MachTableDatas borrowed from another plane fixes the problem. Needs fine tuning then, but it saves a lot of time. In fact, all the original values were just too strong. And moving the horizontal stabs Xac values within the 3D model doesn't waste the whole FM, add -0.2 to each and there's no real difference. It saves a lot of time too.

Thank you for the info. - this will save me a lot of time with my SF2 install, not having to tweak such entries if they are only cosmetic. (Makes me wonder about what other entries are only cosmetic and that I've maybe been approaching too seriously.) In terms of watts used for powerdry/powerwep values, etc., one word of advice for those tweaking FMs is to be aware that historical watt numbers for the engines don't necessarily and always translate to historical results when flying in the TW sims. At least for my WW1 tweaks package, endless testing was needed to get the models behaving historically within FE2 - although sometimes this would require unhistorical engine power numbers, or higher/lower rpm values for the props, usually a balancing act between the two, etc., and of many other factors. Theoretically, historical numbers might work well in the data inis all the time, but this would probably require entire revamps of several data inis, a very time-consuming process....touching on drag values, lift/data tables for wings and stabs, etc. My approach with the WW1 models has been to "hammer" the FMs into a shape that works well historically, based on the wonderful FM work initially done by Ojcar, TexMurphy, and others - and even then it takes at least a couple of years to comb through the data inis. The A-team data inis usually require more work...I have limited myself to touching only 5 or 6 of their WW1 aircraft. Sure wish we had some kind of program for FE2/SF2 that would "visualize" (as in a wind tunnel) what's happening when we change and crunch numbers into the data inis...would be more efficient than doing endless cycles of testing in the sim itself...but it is what it is. Happy flying, Von S

In a way, it can. I have cockpit on progress with a pilot, navigator/bombardier and DSO stations to switch... Of course, you can't do much on other stations but you can seat there.

Refurbished B(I).8 bomber sold to Fuerza Aérea del Perú (FAP). Peruvian Air Force (FAP) Canberras flew combat sorties against Ecuadorian positions during the Cenepa War in 1995. On 6 February 1995, a Canberra Mk 68 disappeared over the operations zone; the aircraft had apparently struck a hill in poor weather conditions. Peru retired its Canberras in June 2008 WHAT'S IN: - a new plane, 4 skins, decals - screens, pilot, weapons etc CREDITS: - Bobrock: plane - Soulfreak: templates & tweakings - Paulopanz: skins, decals, screens NOTES: - the first 3 skins are about FAP Canberra B(I).8 as Canberra B(I).68 were refurbished in 1974 I add them to the pack so You have a whole FAP line up. When B(I).8 will be ready You could use them as skins and edit data and userilist inis if you like. - this little job is dedicated to a friend of mine who collects all FAP planes - maybe someone else could use to build up the Cenepa war against Ecuador.... INSTALL: - all in your mod folder Enjoy @paulopanz

I received the files and fixed the synching issues with the GR.1 distance lods. They all work fine now. :) Though I started to put in a few more low-poly parts for wings, droptanks and ordnance, as to make this plane a tad more framerate friendly around busy airfields.

This pack inludes all official Thirdwire MIG-21 models as flyable jets with cokcpits in most complete form what my modding knowledge allows. All in easy install form. I am not author of any 3d pits, FMs, sounds. All is what i downloaded from Combatace or made by Thirdwire. I want to thank to original authors of included files and this nice sim. Hope it is ok to reuse their work to provide really complete, up-to-date and easy to install Mig-21 package. I was always sad with that great pits available and terrible way to install it into latest ptached games and it is always missed something. Loading screens, loadout picture, good FM and so on... Now with latest patches FMs are usable and nicely flyable so i used it as base FMs for pack. Pack contains folowing stuff: ***************************** Every official MIG-21 flyable with pit for SFP1, WOV, WOE, WOI and SF2. I corrected some errors in pits, Used latest Oct 2008 TW patches as base for FM fat files with tweaks in engine (thrust for each model, spool up time, radar, weight). FM is not touched and i think it flies now ok with latest patch. Diferent sounds for each engine model is included with Mig RWR sounds. Better Mig pilots too. Each Mig-21 has loading and hangar screen and camouflage sample patch with loadout picture. All includes corresponding serial numbers to choose from. I made Numbers.lst for Vietnam and Arab airforces by hand. All Migs have right service nationality in dat as was originaly in each game install. Strike Fighters Project 1 MIG-21F MIG-21PFM MIG-21MF Wings Over Vietnam MIG-21F MIG-21PFV MIG-21PFM MIG-21MF Wings Over Europe MIG-21F MIG-21PF MIG-21PFM MIG-21MF Wings Over Israel MIG-21F MIG-21PF MIG-21PFM MIG-21MF MIG-21BIS Notes: ****** MIG-PFM has added LCOS gunsight to be able to use gunpod in fight. More realistic and distictive heaters sounds are included too. Instalation: ************ Simply unpack somewhere and then choose what game you want mod for Migs-21 and simply copy content of apropriate game folder from pack to game root directory overwirte all potential files. Dont worry all dat files are based on latest Oct 2008 TW patches. Sure if you want you can backup first whole game. Just for cause i forgot something. After that just start game and enjoy all MIG-21 variants flyable in most complete and up-to-date way.
