The Cold War Has Gone Hot...... A US mechanized infantry unit has survived and been enveloped. LSK (East German Air Forces) jets are being scrambled for a dawn attack... F-16C Block 30s are racing to help the surrounded unit under @Menrva's real sky. A F-16 fires off an AIM-9 to fend off the LSK jets. A LSK Su-22's flares didn't get the job done. LSK MiG-23BNs lob rockets at the mechanized unit, not realizing a F-16C is on its tail.... The F-16C goes to guns on the MiG-23 and then gets to work pounding the ground element: F-111Ds are inbound to whack an airfield the LSK launched from: Only to have MiG-21s launch: Ignorant of the new Fishbed threat, the F-16s carry out more low-level attacks on the ground element: But the BTR-50s and T-62s are still able to close with the mechanized infantry & supports: But with only four F-16s for CAS and lacking IR pods - it's 1989 after all, the outcome is almost certain:

Formation of 4 Mirage IIIEZ fly low level to avoid early radar acquisition... Their target is a training camp in Cahama. They dropped bombs Anti-aircraft artillery was expected... ZU-23s were seen firing from two different directions... SA-7 gunners were also present... However even though almost all missiles tracked the targets, Mirages accelerated and missiles missed... During the last raid a single Mirage released its ordnance and started accelerating while climbing... Only seconds before impact an another pilot saw a small missile getting very close... Mirage IIIEZ suffered critical damage and was shot down... While the formation was returning back to base they realized that an another aircraft had been hit by 23mm guns at right wing... Damaged aircraft landed safely and grounded for the necessary repairs. After some days it became operational.

Third Wire MiG-23 fighters made flyable & updated for SF2 MiG-23M, MiG-23M (85), MiG-23MF, MiG-23ML, MiG-23MLA, MiG-23MLD, MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War), MiG-23MLDe, MiG-23P, MiG-23P (82), MiG-23MS This is a follow on from my "Third Wire MiG-23MLD updated & flyable for SF2" mod and completely supersedes it. - All are flyable with a modified version of Stary's MLD cockpit/ avionics with corrections by Crusader and myself. There are slightly different cockpits/ gunsights depending on the model of aircraft. - Wing spoilers are now working as they were always there just not activated. Thanks again Crusader! - Opening Canopy. - KM-1 Ejection seats added. Grey on most but black for Mig-23MLDe, MiG-23P and MiG-23P (82). - Loadouts enhanced and corrected. Some Afghanistan specific ones added. Use of Kh-25M air-to-surface missile and datalink pod added. - Missile positions corrected, especially for the AA-8. - Single missile rail for the fuselage AA-8. - Improved/ corrected FM. - Improved engine sound and afterburner effect. - All Mig-23 have an ACM/ boresight radar mode but it is set straight ahead along the gunsight and does not move/ scan. The MLD and P (82) have an ACM/ boresight mode that scans vertically like the F-16 or F-15 etc. - MLD, MLDe and P (82) have KDS-23 countermeasure dispenser installed in the centreline drop tank pylon. This is a 12 shot chaff/ flare countermeasure dispenser that could be used once the drop tank had been jettisoned. - MLD Leading edge flaps automatically deploy during maneuvering as they did on the MLD with the type 3 wing. - MLD Primary and secondary roles expanded to reflect the evolution of the MLD into a more multi role fighter platform. - Removed ECM jammer from MLD. - Radar data and performance is corrected from the S-23MLA radar to the S-23MLA-II radar for the MLD. - Most if not all the exported and Warsaw pack ML aircraft were actually MLA models, this is an error in most publications, model kits and flight sims alike and has only been corrected in recent publications. The ML was operated by the Soviet airforce and by the time the export models were being built the production line had switched to the MLA. This is now corrected in the game. All skins updated with cockpit textures and various other minor details. - Grey undersides on Soviet Camouflage skins changed from grey to blue/ grey. Additional dark green added in to the Soviet camouflage of later model MiG-23s. Lots of other texture corrections done. - Skins added for Iraqi, Syria (Late), Polish camouflage, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Soviet desert (in Afghanistan) and Soviet Afghanistan veterans. - Corrections to decal size and/ or positions on various skins. - Additional MiG-23MLDe variant created. This is the Syrian and Libian specific export model of the MLD which did not have the IFF or aerodynamic enhancements (vortex generators) of the Soviet MLD and had a slightly downgraded radar. Syrian made countermeasure dispensers installed on either side of the tail fin. - Additional MiG-23P (82) variant created. This is the Soviet P model that was upgraded to the same standard as the MLD but without the aerodynamic enhancements. - Additional MiG-23M (85) variant created. This is a few squadrons of the Soviet M model that had its IFF upgraded some time between 1978 and the early 90's (Same nose IFF antenna as the MLD and P (82). - Additional MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War) variant created. This is the Soviet MLD but reflects the specific loadouts, modifications, countermeasures and markings of the MLD models that served in the Soviet Afgan war. - Updated weapons from the RSSW 099 mod. To Install: 1, Delete ALL previous TW MiG-23 mods. 2, Unpack and drop the 2 parts of this download into your main mods folder. 3, You MUST override when prompted. Credits: - ThirdWire. - Crusader. - Stary. - Snailman. - Eburger68. - Paladrian. - Svetlin - Cocas CombatAce fair agreement applies. Enjoy, Dan (dtmdragon).

Mirage III and Nesher Gun Sight Fix. This mod corrects the Stock Third Wire Gun Sights for the Mirage IIICJ Shahak, Mirage IIICJ Shahak (71), Nesher and as a bonus the DLC 17 RAAF Mirage fighters. I recently read the Osprey book Israeli 'Mirage and Nesher Aces' and 'Mirage III vs Mig-21 Six Day War 1967.' Both books are full of gun camera images of Israeli Mirage IIICJ and Nesher fighters killing MIGs. From these I realised Third Wire has made an error on all the Mirage gun sights by aligning the (horizontally elongated) aircraft reference cross with the gun bore-sight and thus the gun piper. In the Nesher and Mirage IIIO that leaves the actual gun bore-sight cross sitting above the gun piper doing nothing. This mod corrects the position and alignment of the aircraft reference cross, gun piper and gun bore-sight cross (Nesher and Mirage IIIO). This correction should be applied to any other version of Mirage III, Mirage 5, Nesher or Dagger you have that uses a Third Wire Mirage cockpit and/ or Mirage gun sight. CombatAce fair use agreement applies. Cheers, Dan.

E/A-18g Growler Quick Aircraft Facts Video In last week's video we discussed the F/A-18 hornet and its path to becoming the reliable fighter aircraft used by the United States Navy and Marine Corps, and by allied nations as well. In this video we're going to quickly highlight the history behind E/A-18g Growler. The Electronic Warfare aircraft that has replaced the E/A-6B Prowler. Growler, Prowler all sounds the same doesn't it? I'm sorry to say that I forgot to include an overlay that mentions the fact that the Growler's call sign was changed to "Grizzly" to avoid confusion. All video in this presentation is from the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who kindly uploaded their works to Dvidshub.net a great place for military aviation footage. Their footage is released under public domain. If you would like to discuss this video you're invited to do so here in this thread or in the pub if you wish. Of course if you're not interested chatting and just want to get some SF2 action in with some Hornets created by our talented Mod Developers. We understand that too :)

The only solution is to make a separate folder for it. We (KJakker and me) had same issues for the Brazilian São Paulo, which is an exported Clemenceau-class carrier. By making it stand-alone, problem solved.

Douglas Dakota C.3 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock C-47A to create a Dakota C.3 in service with the Royal Air Force in the 1948-1967 timeline. Of course, the Royal Air Force were a big user of the Dakota but not in this fictional desert camo scheme which is loosely based on the original Lockheed Hercules C.1 scheme of the very early 1970's (quite an odd scheme for the times). It is flyable and RECON has been added as a secondary role so that you fly low-level recce missions and watch those MiG's stall and crash! INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the DakotaC3 folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the DakotaC3 folder into your Decals folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Special thanks to gerwin for this lovely desert camo to which I've simply added black undersides and decals. Special thanks also to russouk2004 for bringing us the smashing C-47A cockpit. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 1 - 12/05/2020

Hi, just a late heads-up: I finally had some time to look into the downloaded profile using text editor and compared with a new empty profile. With some trial-and-error I found only one item had to be changed: group "Flight Control System" needs to be renamed to "Pro Flight" and then the settings are working. This saves me the hazzle to having to program everything from scratch. Sorry but it goes in english. I just made a contact with Oso Juancho who is the keeper of the terrain. He told me that a friend who was member here passed it to him long time ago and he´s out. He said to release the terrain with a read me like this (his words) - "digamos creador original (usuario de CombatAce desconocido) editado por Oso Juancho y Torno." If someone else made any other tweaks just include on that list. Green light. Release it!!!

Oh where do I begin? I love the afterburners, the vapes, the precision flying at OLF Coupeville, the fact I'm a civilian that gets to see a slice of the history of this platform play out. See all my 1,528 EA-18G pictures here: Me, I think the EA-18G Growler makes modern war impossible. Remember modern war is so dependent on unhindered access to the electromagnetic spectrum for everything from triggering IEDs to radio communications to call in kinetic force to radars that see... in fact the Australians and likely Luftwaffe are buying Growlers. The People's Republic of China is modifying a 2-seat Flanker to have EW capability. Eurofighter is offering an EW version of their Typhoon with jammer pods & anti-radiation missiles. That's how inspirational and landmark the Growler is. Granted its predecessors the EA-6B Prowler, EF-111 "Sparkvark", & EA-3 Skywarrior are all remarkable. But none of these jets got exported or imitated, plus all of them had drawbacks. Remember the F-15 & F-16 families inspired at least the Su-27 family, the MiG-29 family, the J-10 - which came from the Lavi which was based on the F-16, the JASDF F-2A spinoff of the F-16. That seems to be the benchmark of how good a combat aircraft design is. The EA-18G Growler is a doggone good fusion of computers, pods and airframe - the airframe being the F/A-18F Super Hornet. Although the pods on the Growler are still canted out like the F/A-18F that creates substantial airframe drag issues the jet still has good range and will be getting conformal fuel tanks. I also like the Growler self-escorts with two AIM-120 AMRAAMs, not just packs jammer pods and the occasional AGM-88 HARM. Might look odd but certainly not ugly.

Sure looks nice. Although there is a PAC-3 in the @eburger68 2012 SAM pack, this sure looks nice. Might want to note the Japanese PAC-3 units go with a matte green paint scheme: I think regulars know why I did a search on the JGSDF.... 1) My attempt at a JGSDF in-game PAC-3 site: 2) The same SAM site on Hokkaido is off my starboard wing dealing with leakers during a Nihon Hitori 2020 mission:

After more than a year from its first release, the much appreciated realSKY mod has received a major update. This is a glimpse of what to expect; Added different cloud textures for each weather type. Rebalanced sky colours; twilights have been reworked to be more dramatic and atmospheric, whilst keeping realism as the main aim. Here below, screenshots taken during Scattered weather (plus two suggestive shots with Broken weather). Notice the different cloud texture between the two, and the complete twilight transition. Following a suggestion by baffmeister, the realSKY mod will now include alternative files which provide different weather effects for Inclement; you can choose between thunderstorm (default), sandstorm (for hot, desert terrains) and snowstorm (for cold, icy terrains). Reworked rain effects; lightnings are now rare, added new rain drops as a camera view effect. Added alternative environment files for snowstorm and sandstorm effects. Screenshots show the new effects (especially the ones that look best when the camera is fixed). Sandstorm weather features darker, brownish fog. Snowstorm features a brighter fog than thunderstorm. Suggested by tiopilotos, the mod now will feature additional tweaks for some stock game effects, namely contrails, wingtip vortexes and exhaust emitters. Added better contrail effect (thanks to EMCON360 for an old comment on the subject). Added improved wingtip vortex effect (credits to Eagle114th). Added new exhaust emitter effects (credits to viper63a and NeverEnough). Contrails are no longer flat; they are volumetric and expand as much as possible, within the limitations of the game engine. Wingtip vortexes are brighter, more varied and longer. Those effects now use their own textures, instead of using the same texture for different purposes as in the stock SF2 game.

I am still tweaking colours, trying to find better balances. They are something in between Cellinsky's widesky and the stock SF2 colours. Fog colours are a real PITA to get right. My huge thanks to Cellinsky, Stary, PanamaRed, Fubar512, Brain32, ShrikeHawk, BearGryllis, Orsin, luk1978, for their respective mod works! Following screenshots are just a work in progress, not the final quality; for some reason the new night colour seems very dark on screenshot, but in-game the environment is reasonably visible.
