Hawker Hurricane Mk.III - F 9 Säve, Flygvapnet, 1941 The Hawker Hurricane entered service with the Royal Air Force at the end of 1937 when No.111 Squadron re-equipped with the type at RAF Northolt. By late 1938 the production capacity for Hurricanes at the Hawker Siddeley Aircraft group of companies was sufficient not only to meet the needs of the RAF's ambitious expansion scheme but also to allow exports to Yugoslavia, South Africa, Romania, Persia, Belgium, Poland and Turkey. Belgium and Yugoslavia had already negotiated production licences and with war clouds looming Sweden soon followed suit selecting the Hurricane as a replacement for the obsolete Gloster Gladiator biplane fighters used by the Flygvapnet for air defence. In August 1939 the Swedish government obtained a production licence for 120 Hurricanes but with Saab running at full capacity building Saab 17 and Saab 18 bombers, a new firm and factory was commissioned to licence-build Hurricane airframes powered by Merlin engines supplied by the British government under a seperate contract. The new company was called Flygförvaltningens Flygverkstad i Stockholm (FFVS) and was headed up by the talented Bo Lundberg. However, there was an urgent demand for Rolls-Royce Merlin engines for the RAF's day fighters and also for the Boulton & Paul Defiant and Bristol Beaufighter night fighters. The British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, was keen to block the sale of Merlin engines outright but Sydney Camm at Hawker considered that the Hurricane airframe could be adapted to take a different engine and, with one eye on export sales, Camm had previously schemed the Hurricane Mk.III using the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp 14-cylinder radial piston engine rated at 1,050 hp. Camm sent a small team over to FFVS at Stockholm to effect the changes and the new company performed miracles in keeping to their original schedule of a first flight before the end of 1940. There was no Hurricane Mk.III prototype as such and the first two production aircraft off the Stockholm production line were thoroughly tested by Bill Humble of Hawker's and Gloster's chief test pilot Gerry Sayer who both praised it's flying characteristics noting that "the aircraft is simple and easy to fly and has no apparent vices" although the stalling speed was 8 knots higher than a standard Merlin-engined Hurricane. Entering service with F 9 Säve (located at Säve airport near Gothenburg) in the Autumn of 1941, the Hurricane's were popular with Flygvapnet pilots although they were increasingly short on speed when compared to aircraft from other nations that had inadvertently strayed into Swedish skies. The Hurricane Mk.III continued in low-rate production well into 1943 and was finally retired in 1947. Template Credit: Raven

yeah, it was a little unclear. alternativly, one could extract the tga for that light, place in in the /cockpit folder for the offending aircraft, and then simply paint over the alpha channel (in black of course) to turn off the light permantly

Honestly, there is no need to insist on the reasons why tk dedicated itself to the mobile world (they are very obvious). The question is, what could have been done with the SF so that its development did not stop? I think selling the game in a single exe was an obsolete concept, possibly due to piracy but also because it came late to projects like lomac and bms (at that time very attractive graphically), the dlcs tried to rescue the game but they were from the same developer they made very few and they also got stuck in the idea of the sim set in the 60s... look what happened with DCS, they opted for a base sim that moves paid content, in SF, TK can sell their simulator with a good engine game and a base to carry out various missions. On the other hand, it also offers its platform to independent developers to produce paid add-ons to keep the sim updated (just like the consoles that are sold for the hardware but also for the catalog of games they attract)… I insist. Would it also have been a bad deal? Think that SF also created or was an important part of a market niche that is now fashionable: a light simulator that does not fall into the arcade but at the same time with realistic notions takes you to the action without tedious manuals... this same concept , take it to the dlc developers: cool planes but without the complexity and need to pay teams to model 1000 functional buttons, small modders could collaborate alone and at the same time be financially sustainable with their talents; you build the plane, weapon or terrain you want and earn based on what you sell contributing to the exuberance of the catalog (actually nothing new that FSX hasn't done during the last decades) Possibly TK has been left alone in this, I do not doubt that as a developer he had to get into debt to carry out your projects and survive with it, but when the idea is good and the strategy is clear, he can get the resources outside, there are companies willing to invest, the thing is if you want to share profits... Well, I think I went too long on this... although I'll repeat it over and over again, I think that SF itself has a good concept, very sellable even today, (that's why you're reading this)... anyway It is my humble opinion, the idea is to generate debate about what was or could be, I do not claim to be a know-it-all, (I am light years away from being a simple grasshopper) so please, nothing personal and understanding that my English is not very polished (and helped by a blessed automatic translator) so don't be surprised if something is not completely understood.. regards

Haha, what they mean is that the mission you performed may not have any enemy aircraft, so the game directly judges you to succeed, and also that's why you don't see any red boxes. Most likely your enemy has decommissioned all planes

I can relate to that: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/93840-strike-fighters-2-meets-flightgear/ I'm still working on and off on this project/experiment: currently working an a script that automatically converts SF2 flight models into the FlighGear (JSBSim) flight models.

well who's to say how European aircraft developemnt would go in such a scenario? The engineers and designers of the Mirages would be working for Messerschmitt rather than Dassault. Take some time to change the names of various weapons and aircraft and boom, Wunderwaffe 1961. Works for traditional aircraft reimagined (Spinners is a master at doing that) or the what if's

Su-33 Camo for Su-27M (What if) Alternative history : [TRUE] The aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov set sail on 15 October 2016 from the Kola Bay for takin part in Russian agression against Syria. The carrier was accompanied by an ocean-going tugboat, as a precaution due to potential propulsion failure. The airwing included 6-8 Su-33 fighters, 4 Mig-29K/KUBR multi-role aircraf. On 14 November 2016, a MiG-29K crashed into the sea after taking off from the carrier. On 15 November 2016, Admiral Kuznetsov, took part in bombing Syria. On 3 December 2016, an Su-33 crashed into the sea after attempting to land on the carrier. [FICTION] On 4 December early in the morning, the aircraft carrier's radar detected more than a dozen unknown air targets approaching their ship. In a panic, the Russians raised all Su-33 fighters to protect their aircraft carrier. But it was too late. In a matter of minutes all Su-33 planes were shot down. To this day it remains a mystery whether these were F-22 stelth aircraft or they were Israeli F-35 aircraft. Some person tells even it was martians. These cheerless news came to the Kremlin. The news of the loss of all Su-33 aircraft could not be published in the Russian mass media. Dumbfounded militarist propaganda residents, could inadequately respond to such a defeat of their troops. It was decided to hush up the news. Dmitry Rogozin minister of Defense Industry of Russia, suggested that all existing Su-27M to repaint in Su-33 camouflage colors. A few days later, at night at low altitude, all repainted Su-27Ms flew to Syria and start imitating the presence of the Su-33 in Syria and showed themselves in propaganda TV plots. We are waiting for the further events. BBC News, cpecial report, Syria. ======== This skin match (original aircraft) https://combatace.com/files/file/15049-su-37-flanker-f/ Or my repack https://combatace.com/files/file/16722-su-27m-t-10m-original-su-37-repainted/ ======== installation: unpack and copy to your installed before Su-27M or Su-37 folder. Be sure to overwrite the decals folder. It is very important! There is a fix for the UV grid of the original model, cause of which the second wing had a reflection of the first that the aircraft was disfiguring. ======== Used Decals from: NATO Fighters 4+ https://combatace.com/files/file/12230-nato-fighters-4-part-5/ By Dave (approved by Dave, January 20, 2016) =========== Skins was drawn based on outlines by Mariusz Wojciechowski and real photos. http://www.mariwoj.pl/ And Skins by me, bazillius If you like this skin you can copy, paste, remake, redraw use in your pack. I do not care of it. Kisses, waves, hand shaking and best regards.
