I have replaced my Warthog stick with a VKB MCG Pro, which has been great. But I have been getting the itch to make progress on making a more complete F-4 cockpit experience in anticipation of the future DCS World F-4E that may be only a year or two or three away. I have throttle handles, the panel with the slots and brushes where the throttle protrude, and the panels to either side on the way. I have a Warthog throttle that "bricked", so I am finally going to order a board and try to fix it, then hopefully use it as the base for making an F-4 throttle. I have two Warthog sticks as a result of buying a replacement for the broken throttle, so I am thinking about adapting it to my real F-4 stick so I don't have to clean pots like a did the last time I used the real F-4 stick. Alternatively, I may buy another VKB grip and gut it to adapt an extra B-8 grip I have to fit on the VKB stick. I may end up with two sim pits, one dedicated F-4 pit and one designed to be reconfigured to support several DCS aircraft. The F-4 pit would be in front of my PC and the generic/adaptable pit would be in front of my son's PC. I just need to upgrade his gpu or better yet build a new PC for me and give him my current PC. Just a matter of time and money along with some creative engineering.

That is my WSO. He isn't very good at operating the radar or navigating, but he barks at anything that moves or makes a sound and stays by my side as long as he is fed a steady diet of treats.

Upgrading an old aircraft: Wolf's Bf 109F-4. Data.ini updated and corrected, skins are WiP. This old model has some issues, making it quite hard to skin. But I like it, since this is the only freeware F-4 we have.

Back in the early Nineties there was a rumour that the fighter of the future would have two crew, a pilot and a dog. The pilot’s job would be to feed the dog. The dog’s job would be to bite the pilot if he touched anything.

Hi Guys, as some of you already now, i have some fake pilot mods in the pipe for the Eagle and the Flanker. What it does is, it replaces some parts of current planes, like the canopy, glass and the cockpit itself. BUT!!! You need to decide and choose just one skin for each plane, cause if you choose a different coloured skin, the "new" exterior parts, will not change with the skin. So you are limited in one or the same coloured skin for the planes. And!!! You will lose the open canopy animation for the Eagle. The Mod is using Marcfighters Su-27 and Dave's F-15 Pack as base. This is not a mod for TK's F-15A or Inskies Su-27 Currently i need some helpf fixing the problem, that the new fake pilot parts appear inside the cockpit, how can i dissable them? And here it is, what i am talking about: F-15C Su-27

I managed to bring over my A-6A cockpit from WoV and integrate it with Homefries and Malibu43s' A-6 Superpak for the A-6E - haven't gotten to the A-6E 79 or A-6E 90 yet. I followed Wrenches's guide in the KB re. using cockpits from other aircraft and the A-6E is working well, with the 1 exception that my pilot has his helmet stuck out of the windshield like he's expecting to fly up to a Starbuck's take-out window and pick up an expresso. I'm loving the CCIP bomb site by MigBuster - previously was dive bombing in the Thud and that Intruder CCIP seems seriously, deadly accurate in comparison! It was a steep learning curve for a n00b like me, for navigating the INIs and figuring out where edits needed to be made. In the end, I'm still left wondering if I got it all right? The mock-up DIANE screen and scope seems to be correctly situated, but the scope on the bottom pilot side is just blank and never displays anything. As well, the radar in the TV windows above is also different than what it was in my stock A-6A. So...I'm wondering if there's anyway to take it 1 step further and make that blank scope function, or is it that just due to some limitation when integrating a WO cockpit or a limitation in the SF2 engine? I've attached screenshots of how the A-6E looks and what my converted, stock WoV A-6A looks like. If anyone can give feedback or suggestions, I'd be appreciated.

On heavy settings, you should indeed be getting some occasional traffic going back and forth. For bombing and ground strafing, I don't have much experience with that but I'm sure someone will pitch in who flies FE2 frequently in ground attack mode or bombing runs. There should be a command to send your flight to "attack ground targets" - I've tried the command a few times but it's usually hit and miss, although I've only tried it by sending my flight to strafe an AA post or something similar...from what I learned later (I think from Crawford), FE/FE2 does not have the ability to tell other aircraft to do a strafing run, using the attack ground command - "attack ground target" being limited to bombing/grenade runs. I'm sure some of our fellow flyers know more about air-to-ground technicalities in FE2. (It's possible also that the attack-ground-target command is limited to the type of mission being flown....with limited effectiveness, for example, in offensive-type missions...but I'm sure that someone knows more about this.) ok I will get it in game, and flying....then hopefully someone with some aerodynamics and avionics nous can get it flying as should be...all it needs I think is basics flight skills...its up to the mision entries etc then that make it mission ready...will try do asap.

That sounds realistic then! All Predator and Reaper pilots do is put it on autopilot, enter the waypoint into the GCS and let it fly itself there. Glorified taxi drivers. It's the Sensor Operators who do the hard work

Sorry I had clearly forgotten about that little detail. It shouldn't happen after that IIRC - unless you are sticking in old ini files back in with differences to that patch level. I think keeping the folder and ini file the game put in by default was important for avoiding issues like this as well I seem to remember - as I would modify (not replace) the default basic XXX.ini for each aircraft and then copy the rest of the files over from an old install .

CombatACE features a very powerful search bar, remember it. I just typed "mq-9" in the search bar, and I immediately found the mod's link: https://combatace.com/files/file/14654-mq-9-new-mod/ That being said, that mod was for SF1, the UAV's flight model is a real mess, it's unflyable.

I think you might have a problem with that cockpit. Your comm/IFF/nav control panel on the right side has a distinct case of doggy eyes. If you are not careful it will convince you to let it eat all of your survival rations before you even reach the target area.

I have never been much of a campaign person. I prefer flying generic 1v1, 1v2, 2v2, 1v4, 2v4, and 4v4 single player missions to test particular tactics and types against each other or fly historically accurate single missions. So what matters most to me is the accuracy of the flight models, the weapons/damage modeling, and the behavior of the AI. I haven't played CloD enough to really get a feel on how it compares to my other sims. But I have played BoB2:WoV enough to know that I love the Spitfire, Hurricane, and Bf109 flight modeling as well as how the AI flies those aircraft when set to the highest skill levels. The SFP1/SF2 series has some of the most entertaining/challenging dogfight AI of any flight sims I have played... but it has cheats that make it so. SF2 AI can always see you without regard to canopy/visibility limitations even if you are low and on its 6. SF2 AI knows if you are looking at or targeting it even if it can't see you... so the enemy almost always reacts to your presence and will probably engage you rather than other AI enemies. BoB2 seems to do a much better job of having dynamic AI reacting to the entire situations instead of just you with the skill level somewhat realistically affecting its choice of tactics. So BoB2 AI is as fun and challenging as SF2 AI, yet doesn't appear to be cheating as much if at all. There is nothing that can replace the experience of trying to defend Britain against a sky full of Nazi bombers and fighter escorts with but a few Spitfires and/or Hurricanes. I can only imagine how the real pilots felt having to face those odds day after day. If Germany had stayed focused on bombing the airfields and other strategic targets rather than trying to break morale by bombing the general population, one can only wonder whether the UK would have been able to hold on and maintain a Western front to help the USSR stay in the fight. CloD may not be as good as BoB2 at modeling the full scope of the Battle of Britain, but the graphics and plane set still let you experience aspects of it in a way that the very dated BoB2 can't. But if I could only have one, it would be BoB2. But the truth is that I don't have the time to play all of the flight sims I have accumulated over the years. I used to focus on the SFP1/SF2 series because of my preference for the F-4 Phantom and MiG-21, but the halt in SF2 progress followed by the rise of DCS World forced my transition. Lately, I have spent more time in civil flight sims than I ever have due to FSX/P3d having TacPack supported F-4s and AeroflyFS2 and X-Plane 11 also supporting VR. But I by far spend most of my time flying all of the DCS World modules. It is hard but fun for me to try to maintain basic proficiency with such a large library of aircraft modeled to a study-sim level. So BoB2 isn't even installed and CloD is only on my hard drive as long as I have room for it.

Found this... http://www.matrixgames.com/products/product.asp?gid=739 The populist wave that has swept across the world has reached Japan. With a jittery economy and scandals in the previous government on the minds of the public the government that emerges following a set of snap elections is more nationalist and populist than ever. The new prime minister has set his eyes on the long-disputed Kuril Islands, repeatedly claiming them for Tokyo in numerous speeches. The JGSDF has traditionally been concentrated in Hokkaido already, but airborne and amphibious units have moved there, ostensibly for exercises. The Russians, familiar with that excuse to concentrate forces, have become more suspicious than ever. Not helping the situation is raucous demonstrators on both sides sailing towards either the Kuriles or Hokkaido in small boats. Several have been killed and dozens more detained. The Russians have been slipping troops in, but an improvised convoy has been readied at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to carry much heavier forces to Kunashir and Iturup. Should it reach the islands safely, the Japanese goal of taking them without excessive casualties will be impossible. On the other hand, if it's sunk, the Kuriles are Japan's for the taking. The stakes are thus extremely high. Due to the (previously) anti-invasion nature of the JSDF and the traditional Soviet/Russian defensive doctrine at sea, both sides have an impressive array of sea denial weapons. The question is which shall prove superior.

Feb. 9, 2019 Update ("The Early Berg Special"): Several tweaks re-applied to the Rumpler C.1, the HF.20 and 20U variants, also the Voisan type 5. As well included are three new winds for the environsys files, to mimic more realistic turbulence effects hopefully. Also included is Crawford's rotating fuel pump trick for Geezer's Martinsydes. More major tweaks include reworking of the early Farmans, types 7 and 11c, of the Caproni Ca.3, of the entire line of Fokker Dr.I, D.VII, and D.VIII aircraft, including the addition of an OAW variant of the Fokk. D.VII. Further, now included is a transformation of Geezer's Halb. D.V into a D.III variant, a reworked Aviatik C.I from the A-Team, also of their Siemens-Schuckert D.III. Stephen's latest SAML S.2 has been tweaked as well. Also tweaked is the Roland D.VIa, and a new engined-up type, the D.VIb variant. Four sub-variants of the Aviatik Berg D.I are now included (160 hp, early and late 200 hp, and 230 hp). The Phonix D.IIa has been re-tweaked, and the earlier D.II variant is now included too. Have also re-visited and re-tweaked the Hansa-Brandenburg D.I. For more detailed info. and installation instructions, and other updates not mentioned here, please look over the latest READ ME file that's located in the update pack, and also the included pic. of the ver. 9.7 FM updates. Happy flying to all. Von S

Once you download all of the required planes for the armchair aces campaigns, it's likely that there will be more air traffic than currently. Having said that, if you try out some of the congestion settings in my update pack, you may (in early war scenarios) find yourself flying for an hour or two with no enemy planes in sight - as historical. The occasional enemy may come trotting by and engage in a duel, but otherwise it's pleasant sight-seeing until about the summer of 1916. For more obscure fronts, such as Palestine and the eastern front, low air congestion would have been historical well into 1917, even 1918. It's not really until the spring of 1918 that the Entente start putting up aircraft in greater numbers in Palestine, for example, while the Germans have the aerial upper hand to about 1917. For the Italian front too, not too much congestion until about late 1917/early 1918. And then keep in mind that the last couple of months of the war should feature lower congestion than the peak of action in Italy and the western front (basically the first half of 1918). The armchair campaigns should be fine on "medium" realism as long as you stick with the data ini files (the FMs) provided with the aircraft - don't install any other FMs. Yes, overall, my FM pack makes flying the planes noticeably harder than even the hard setting can provide - I like to think of it as the "historically realistic" setting....or at any rate good fun if you enjoy the surprise of flying early crates that are often like wild horses. It's not so bad from about 1917 onwards (with the newer plane types), but lots of luck is now needed to score well with crates typical of the 1914 to 1916 period. I recommend trying out the Morane Saulnier type H, also the type G variants, as well as the Longhorn and Shorthorn types, Parasol types, also the early Eindeckers and Pfalz monoplanes on the Central powers side - for a ripping good challenge. Von S P.S. Ver. 9.7 of the FM update pack will be posted soon so you might want to wait and download that version (the install will be simpler than the several versions of folders currently available in the ver. 9.5 pack).

Yes, that's one of my pet hates as well. I'm old enough to recall the original Revell 1/72 FW190A, which had a normal cross decal on the fin and whose 1960s instruction sheet said 'The markings on your model are not historically accurate. Portrayal of the accurate markings would not be in keeping with the spirit of Democracy.' Nowadays even Germany has I think legalised swastikas in such usage, so where is this coming from in CloD Blitz? A Russian influence, perhaps, as they are still absent in Il-2 BoS, - though not of course the Communist stars, the symbol of a regime only somewhat less obnoxious. As a blow against facism, it's about as silly as the airbrushing out of all signs of violence on Airfix box art in the '70s, but these self-righteous lobby groups have many forms. The first Adler Tag mission is definitely broken. Second try, my schwarm gets off, but the rest of the staffel sits on the airfield asking for takeoff clearance while with me mostly in autopilot, we head west down Channel, for the RV. The recce plane meanwhile leaves the area and passes us by on a nearly reciprocal course offset several miles to the ENEMY side of the Channel, flying now at low level close to Dungeness, where the Observer Corps will not only be able to see him, but could practically chuck stones at him. Of course, he gets whacked when 74 Squadron arrive from the opposite direction. We can't even see this. There's a report of Spits on the radio which reads more like it came from a German ground controller than the Dornier but it's way too late and it's 'Mission failed' again. You can see the radio messages below from the rest of the squadron, still trying to get takeoff clearance. Determined to get some fun from the mission I tried a third time and used my knowledge of the bomber's location and route to try to catch it. My wingman came with me, the rest of the staffel (which actually took off this time) headed for the RV miles to the west. I still arrived too late to save the Dornier, but chased after the Spits, knowing from previous plays that they headed north for home. The Spits ignored us at first, even after I started shooting - with MGs only, as I hadn't programmed a button to fire cannon. After I knocked one Spit out of formation the others evaded a bit wthout making any effort to counterattack, before resuming course. I got one of them before heading home - he just flew straight and level while I hosed him down from dead astern. I could give my kazcmarek no orders and he had nothing to do but congratulate me. Patrick Bishop's 'Battle of Britain - a day by day chronicle' confirms this action took place, and presumably the other Luftwaffe campaign missions likewise. So it's major shame if what could have been the making of CloD is as screwed up as this first mission. EDIT - all is not lost. I've just downloaded the RAF and Luftwaffe 'redux' campaigns from ATAG and they appear to be a whole new ball game. I've just started the RAF one and it's a re-work of the stock one with a re-written, more historical storyline. I've just played the first mission and while the action is similar to the stock equivalent, the presentation and execution are visibly better. Darn Asus mobo's power surge protection killed it just after I had knocked down a second Dornier, but I did even better on the replay, including knocking down a 110 whose crew bailed out just in time... My Hurricane has lost its overdone weathering and has authentic 607 Squadron codes... And I don't remember the airfield looking so knocked about when I landed, complete with bomb craters to avoid, in the stock campaign. I'll definitely be giving this one a go!

to further correct this, ONLY Player Flyable aircraft (tm) have hangar screens. None of the AI-only aircraft have ever had hangar/loading screens. For obvious reasons. And yes, in SF2, for stock aircraft (the F-4 series being the most pervasive), each skin has it's own matching hangar screen. Just look at the F-4B/J/N

Actually, now that I look at my screenshot of the A-6E more closely, I can see that the Diane needs to be slightly shifted to the left as toggle switches are poking through the right-most screen - doh! I don't even know where that position setting is, but tonight I'll dive into the INIs once again and figure it out. I can see where one could spend more time tweaking this game than playing it.

I was never really a fan of the Hornet. Somehow it managed to replace or outlast all the "cool" planes on Navy decks. A-7, A-6, F-4, F-14. Now with the F-35 coming online, there is a strange attraction to buy and build them. The EA-18G and the Black Knights F/A-18F are from F-Toys and come pre-painted. All you need to do is glue them and decal them up. Every single other example here is a Dragon/DML kit. Unlike other manufacturers, DML tends to give you enough bombs, rockets, missiles and fuel tanks to fill every pylon and then leave you a few more to add to other kits. They tend to be fairly priced and easy to assemble as well. While the shapes might be off on some of their early production kits, they have improved immensely. Does it look like a Hornet as I lay on my bed and stare at them on my ceiling? Yes!

I happen to be out of town a lot. DML 1/144 EA-6B. This kit went together pretty well. Lots of extra parts for the EA-6A were included. I managed to save a AGM-45 and AGM-78 with additional pylons. Will have to re-use them for an F-4G build. This is the 1/144 JWings F-4D On the scale of 1-10 of paint and assembly, this is an 11. Its one of those pre-painted half decal kits that have been pouring out of Japan lately. Ended up gluing it together to hold it together. Put a little paint on the AIM-7s and AIM-9s. Applied remaining decals and it now suspends off my ceiling at home. Only issue was having to cut the doors to make them fit into the recesses. Little bit of white glue acted as a quick filler.
