6 pointsThe modding community is the only reason why the SF PC series still exist, and draw new people to it. How many of us practically begged on the TW forum for upgrades, problem fixes,,,,and at the end TW made it harder to MOD , and put us on ignore !!!! If they are willing to address those past issues , I will contribute.... Do I sound angry ? Good !

SF2 A-4C(65) VA-113 'Stingers' Camo Skin Pack 9/4/2019 -For SF2, Any and All (Full Merged Reccomended) This is a new skin for the A-4C_65 Skyhawk, representing VA-113 "Stingers" during their Oct 1965-June 1966 deployment in South East Asia aboard USS Kitty Hawk. They were painted in an experimental 2-tone green camoflague, as were many other aircraft of CVW-11 at this time. The skin is in jpg format, in 2048x, from Nyghtfall's templates. 12 95% historically accurate Bunum decals are included. Decal randomization is TRUE. On the number list, those marked with a star (*) represent a combat or operational loss. The single number marked with the cross (+) is "best guess", as the squadron listing did =NOT= have a BuNum for A/C 305. The SF2 Date switch is NOT used; you will have to select this skin for each member of you flight. When in-game, on the aircraft selection drop down, Skin selection window you'll see: VA-113 (Camo 1965-66) As is always reccomended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. 3 pointsThats true, but for that we need either TK or someone to play with the code. 😉 And up until know he has shown little interest...no options are few.
-
3 pointsI only bring back my ''theory' when someone is dreaming about importing objects from mobile games...which is pointless. Plus point is - there are much more important thing to upgrade/update than models.

3 points"$25,000 USD is the minimum we need to cover the cost of development and testing. At this level funding, the update will simply be Windows 10/DirectX 12 update with no other fixes, enhancement or improvement." 2 months is a fair (perhaps even optimistic) estimate for the specified work. $25,000 for two months (8 x 40-hour weeks: $78/hour) is a fair, maybe even cheap price for a programmer with his knowledge and experience. Have you ever priced programmers? In the controls industry, you typically pay $100 to $200 per hour for a contracted controls programmer / engineer to edit existing code. Just hiring electricians to pull wire, etc. is $80 to $100 per hour. Keep in mind, that is not his take home pay, there are expenses. In TK's case, he is a one man company, so that pay gets divided into things like retirement, healthcare, business expenses, etc. TK has made it pretty clear that there is nothing that can't be done if the money is right. But there are no specific guarantees about where any excess money would go. So, it would not be prudent to exceed the $25,000 requested. He should have provided funding gates for the options he was willing to do in the order he was willing to commit to them... things like air-to-air refueling, VR, etc. TK has set a pretty low bar on what to expect and made it clear what the projected timeline is expected to be. Now it is up to the SF2 fans to pony up or shut up. If you ever want to see SF2 progress, this baseline project is the first step. If SF2 fans won't fund this, there will be no other updates/improvements. If there were just 5,000 fans donating $5, this bill would be covered. But the active SF2 community is probably much smaller than that and of those there probably aren't enough people willing to pay to even get this small update done.

2 pointsIn principle I like the idea of crowdfunding. But in this case I wonder... 1.)...why TW started a "Keep It All" campaign instead of a "All or Nothing" campaign, since the goal of $25K was already stated? 2.)...why the Windows 10 update is so expensive? I thought the games (unsupported) run already on Windows 10. Is the update to DirectX 12 really necessary? I think Windows 10 supports DirectX10 quite well. 3.)...why the campaign is only two weeks long? I really doubt, that the $25K can be reached in this time.

This is a "stand-in" Seafire Mk. XVII modded from Thirdwire's Spitfire Mk. 18. As with the Mk. 47 released earlier, the skins are in .jpg format and 512 x 512 resolution. It includes a new SPITFIRE24_PROP_SLOW.TGA showing 5-blade propeller instead of the stock 4-blade prop. Also included is Stary's late mark Spitfire cockpit. You will need the DLC #29 to get the late marks Spitfires before you install this mod. Thanks to Thirdwire for the original Spitfire 3-D model. Have fun! A. Mariani -
1 pointI personally will be suprised if it goes over 10K maybe even 5K from what I see...I think this update is pie in the sky tbh.....hope proven wrong but I think its not gonna happen If indeed he gets 25k then im going to build the moon....

1 pointThe F4 and the F5 were both in the running but the F5 won out at the time. I probably would have given the "What If F-4" the CF116 designation.

1 pointIf anyone is shopping for a lite flight sim then the Third Wire store will be disappointing to anyone with W10 as it only has two simple games plus a space sim with all three requiring an Xbox controller. Perusing around the store further they will then see exactly what they are looking for (SF2 series) but for W7 and earlier. Surely, it is the storekeeper's decision to upgrade these to W10 and recoup the costs with fresh sales - no different to the normal risk/reward of any entreprenneur and, indeed, what TK famously did 'back in the day' with his beat-up compact car and $0.99 hamburgers. I've supported TK and Third Wire by buying everything for SF1 and SF2 (all games and all DLC) with a few SF1 titles twice (discs then downloads) but I'm struggling with this.

1 pointThat's why I ask, shall we as a whole community ask TK to forget the Win10 update and use the money to fix bugs and add features?
-
1 pointThat's why I ask, we as a comunity, should ask for: A: bypass totally the Win10 upgrade as after all the game already works on win10 B: Use all the money to fix bugs and add features.

1 pointAlthough I welcome further developement of SF2, this "Project" is still somewhat shady to me. It seems that the 25k is just for new DirectX-Support. I don't have a clue about VR or that stuff, that maybe needs that Support, but I doubt that the vast majority is using it. I think I will spend some money, but I think there are things more important to take care of, than VR-Support, as the game runs well on W10 already and the engine will still be limited as it was. I also agree with Spinners on the F-14/Mirage F1 bit. I remember a poll, where the aircraft was asked, that Exp.3 should be centrred around and the F1 won. Shortly after that, there was info on a F1 from the community. I always asked myself why TK should invest more money in Exp.3 and a new model then. Lately the 2 new Tu-160 models are an equal situation, although not involving TK. I also do not fully agree with the "let modders handle models" theory. One thing for sure we have very talented modders here and I admire their skills! But there are many limitations: number and free time of modders, personal interest to name 3. And so I always welcome any additional models from other sources, than CA-modders. I'd rather have 3 models, that are 85% accurate, than 1 that is 99%. See it that way...in the first case, you leave room for other people to start modding or improve their skills in modding, trying to make a good model better. Although it is much easier today to add models to SF2 through mue's Blender-Exporter (again and again a big Thanks!!!), it is still difficult to "just" make a new plane. I have started several and I lack the skills here and there to find a solution for some problems of modelmaking. To make a long story short. TK gets some money, although I'm not really convinced

1 pointThat's an obvious thing to do but quite hard with this aircraft if one wants it to look good. Unfortunately, the warnings and generally everything around the canopy are a real PITA with the F-35 model available here. It has a... erm... not that great texture mapping and the space to put them around the canopy is really narrow. This causes some serious bleeding and blurring or other deformation of the markings so that's why I wanted to use decals. Same with the "marines" label at the back, if you paint it on the skin, it's somehow distorted. Imagine that I wanted to add the "door" under which a refueling probe is hidden on the right side of the aircraft, below the canopy and I had to make it as a decal too. It was impossible to add it on the skin because I had too little space to draw it. You just have a tiny patch of space on your template which is then stretched over a bigger surface of the model and the effect is obvious: bleeding and deformation. Maybe I'll try with the one-helluva-big-tga idea for the whole nose and canopy area. And of course, thank you all for your support, it's priceless to have the advice from the more experienced ones.

1 pointSo let me get this right, TK, who has said in the past, has no interest or intention to develop, or update SF/FE any further, now expects us to fund an upgrade of a sim we have all already bought, and he has stated he isnt gonna fix...............I smell a rat in the Galley somewhere here, Tk has already had the money from us for the sim, its expansions, and the DLC's but now he wants more of our money, for something that should be a matter of course , you wouldn't pay any other game or sim extra dosh for an upgrade, if it wa a whole new DLC, then I sort of can see the point and the logic, but to fund a disintrested, and dare I say it greedy developer for fixing what should have already been fixed is a bit beyond the pale in my opinion, or is it just my cynical and twisted mind ?
-
1 pointThat's the whole point of my post. Imagine this... TK announces a new title, let's call it SF2:Libya with the F-111 as the centrepiece. The modding community then announces a revamp of the F-111. Is that fair on TK?
-
1 pointWhat people think of this?
-
1 pointLet's see, the way the fundraising is setup TK expects to raise at least $25k in 2 weeks, and keep the money if that goal is not reached, without having to provide anything in return... Even if I still had the funds set aside for when TK finally stopped being an ass, under these conditions... nope.
-
1 pointIt may run on Win 10 for most but it has never been supported on Win 10 (Wisely) - the code is very old which could cause issues not only with the game not working that TW would have to patch but also potentially security issues that I guess TW could be liable for. If you wanted VR then pretty certain you need to be at least Direct X 11 so yes he would need to rewrite everything to use DX12 or Vulkan (unlikely) It would be nice to see MP however one reason why Multiplayer was dropped was because the numbers that played it could not justify the effort according to TK. DCS is an example of this where their forums have a MP vocal Majority but they are a tiny minority of overall sales apparently.

1 pointI seem to remember that TK announced SF2:North Atlantic with the F-14 as the showpiece and then TMF revamped their F-14 which must have cost TK some sales especially with some unkind comparisons. After that, TK announces a proposed Expansion No.3 showing us screenshots of the Mirage F.1 and then, guess what? The existing (BPAO) Mirage F.1 suddenly gets a revamp and we never heard about Expansion No.3 after that... There's nothing wrong with revamping an older model but the timing was harsh on TK.
-
1 pointAgree to disagree. First of all, those 3d models are bad, they do not match SF2 quality standards in any way, have no cockpits, are low poly and do not have transparent canopy glass as it should be in reality. I do not understand all the people asking TK for more content, at the funding page. Either they do not understand what the funding is all about or I don't know what, really. We have so many high quality mods here that cover so many world scenarios. Some of you may remember that there was an Expansion No. 3 planned by TK, about the Mirage F1. It didn't materialize, yet in turn we got amazingly detailed Mirage F1 models by the community here, for free. As yakarov79 said, we modders can handle the content part; we may almost feel offended if so many ask TK for more content; I mean, what have we been doing all these years here at CA? Many of us here have continuously provided new stuff, the lifeblood and backbone of SF2. On my part I think I have released some decent quality terrains and miscellaneous mods and I have others on the way, all for free.
-
1 pointAgree, what we need is bugs fixed, and functionalities added.
-
1 pointFor what end? Why downgrade object quality ? As i said before many times. We do not need new objects. This can be managed by modders here.

1 point..... but if you turn effects from unlimited to high the game will work pefectly using latest Nividia drivers too.
-
1 pointRelax. It's an Nvidia driver issue that a lot of us have run across. Follow the thread in this link, and you'll be back to zipping around the stratosphere in no time.
-
1 pointI did the same thing to get it back to normal. The 419.17 driver works if you keep graphics detail level settings to high, but won't allow unlimited settings. EDIT: SF1 works with unlimited settings with these drivers.

1 pointA very, very good installement to further complement the Israel scenario with more campaigns and new flyable aircraft. I just started playing the Attrition War with the Super Mystére and loving it so far. Tried some of the Migs (19,21,23) on single missions and really loved the overall work and feel of these airplanes and cockpit design. It sure is a great addition to this sim, ThirdWire could have done this from the start but hey, no complaining now, with an awesome community like this it is no longer a problem. Thank you so much, I was wishing to fly some Migs and was wondering how I was going to make those aiplanes flyable, with this mod I no longer have to workaround (and ask around for the “how to”) that. Can’t wait to fly a campaign with these and find out if the campaign balance is right. I think it will be fine. Thank you once again!
