5 pointsRepublic P-72C Superbolt - Esquadra No.10, Força Aérea Portuguesa, 1955 Following the formation of NATO in 1949 there was an immediate acknowlegement that most of the air forces of the member states needed an urgent transfusion of modern combat aircraft and the Portuguese Aeronáutica Militar was especially in need of replacing it's old Hurricanes and first-generation Spitfires. In November 1950 it was agreed that, under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program, the United States would supply 50 P-72C Thunderbolt fighters to Portugal. The 50 P-72C's were all ex-USAF aircraft previously based at Bordeaux–Mérignac in France and were ferried to Portugal in small batches during the Spring and Summer of 1951. The aircraft were equally distributed among the newly created Esquadra 10 and Esquadra 11 and also a training flight at Ota Air Base. However, training proved to be a difficult time for the Portuguese pilots used to the lighter British fighters and there were also problems with the Portuguese air bases not having the appropriate radio equipment but these were soon addressed and both squadrons were fully operational by the time that the Portuguese Air Force was formed on July 1st, 1952 following the merger of the former Aeronáutica Militar and the Aviação Naval. An important milestone was reached in September 1952 when four-ship flights from both P-72C squadrons were sent to Zwiebrucken in Germany to participate in 'Blue Alliance' a large NATO exercise where they acquitted themselves well in defending their temporary home against 'enemy' RAF Lincoln bombers. Back home in Portugal the P-72C force were soon hit by a serious shortage of spares leading to Esquadra 11 being disbanded and it's remaing aircraft were transferred to Esquadra 10 who moved across to Tancos Air Base in late 1954 where they operated the P-72C until disbanding in October 1956. F-5E For Strike Fighters 2 "Early versions pack" Version History: v.1.0: First public release. Early versions without later refinements like RWR. DESCRIPTION: This addon can thank its release to the work of two talented individuals, FastCargo and BPao. FastCargo created the F-5F two seaters and BPao was the man behind the original Mirage Factory F-5E model. I was fortunate enough to get permission to work on these source models, with the goals of marrying the F-5E front section to the F-5F engine and wings which were quite a lot more detailed. It was supposed to be a quick project. One year later: I have completely reworked the F-5E nose, added a lot of stuff on the original fuselage and detailed both original templates to have higher detail textures. Meanwhile Sophocles graciously allowed me to use his superb F-5A cockpit as a basis to build my F-5E cockpit, in which I have also used parts based on FastCargos unfinished T-38 cockpit. Included is two versions of the earlier production F-5E: a basic version dubbed '72 and an export specific version with a larger vertical stabilizator and spine antenna. This version is dubbed '74L (L for large vertical stablizator). Happy flying! Mats "Centurion" Liljeroos FEATURES: SF2 standard external model 2048^2 textures with normal maps Realistic cockpit with avionics courtesy of Crusader FM from original MirageFactory F-5E which flies really good. OPERATORS COVERED IN THIS PACK: USAF Agressor USN Agressor Brazil Honduras Chile Marocco IRIAF Jordania South Korea Saudi Arabia Thailand South Vietnam North Vietnam (captured from VNAF) Ethiopia Kenya Indonesia Tunisia CREDITS: Bpao and Mirage Factory crew: Orginal F-5E model and templates FastCargo for original F-5F model EricJ and pappychecksix for original F-5F templates and textures Sophocles for his superb cockpit work. Every switch is a work of art. Crusader for his ini file magic, really makes the cockpit and plane come alive. Paulo for his mammoth decaling work which he allowed me to use. and even helped me by reworking some of it. Me for cobbling all this together (=texturing and modeling work) The rest of the Combat Ace community. Without you guys I would never have bothered to make it this far. INSTALATTION: Extract into mod folder of choice. This by and large replaces the old F-5E by TMF, so you can go ahead and delete the F-5E aircraft folder if you have it installed. NOTE: The _74L version references the _72 versions cockpit folder, so if you aim to use the 74L standalone in some installation, copy the cockpit folder and F-5E_72_cockpit.ini file from the _72 folder to the _74L folder. Overwrite. Stay tuned for more Tigers! This falls under the Combatace Freeware License Agreement. -

SF2 F-102 (V2K) Delta Dart Hawaii ANG Skin Pack 5/22/2020 = For SF2 (Any & All) = This is a new skin for the F-102 Delta Dart, by Veltro2K. It represents Darts as used by the 199th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Hawaiian Air National Guard from 7 December 1960 until October 1976. You can find the aircraft, if you don't have it already at the following URL: https://combatace.com/files/file/9446-f-102a-delta-dagger/ This is an all new skin, built from Geary's template (thanks!), with 26 new serial numbers. Those numbers marked with the star (*) are 100% historical. All the rest should be considered generic in nature. Decal randomization is TRUE. When in-game, you'll see: 199th FIS, Hi ANG (12/60-10/76) On the skin/unit selection drop-down menu. **Important! In order to eliminate confusion with the Razbam F-102, this main folder has been tagged as "F-102A_v2k". If yours in name differently, you may have to either rename you aircraft folder, or rename THIS folder to fit you personal naming conventions. Do NOT rename the folders in the Decals sub-folder. This will keep their specific pathways intact.** As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them .... they can be accessed after unzippering. Please follow the 'usual instructions'. If you run into trouble, feel free to post the question, or PM me. Happy Landing! Wrench Kevin Stein -

1 pointIm baffled... in max looks fine...in mues lod viewer no problem... in game...shyte... I suspect that some fsx shader attribute is to blame though ive taken advice on mesh to select all polys, detach, and rename to lost smoothing etc from the mesh and should sort it...nope...xform reset has no effect as mesh is correct... had similar with provost but that was dds textures...soon as converted texture to jpg was fine....doesnt work with this...I hav even merged the entire models meshes into a new scene re applied textures ...but still getting this... looks unsmoothed in game but it isnt... I am at a loss...been total of 6 hours spent trying to fathom this out..... max pic viewer pic and game shots ideas welcomed...lol I could try redoing it via fbx or obj or 3ds but thats a lot of work....imported via .flt....(flightstudio model) just a thought...may fire up flightstudio plug in and check imported flt model and see whats what
-
1 pointlolz.....I like it... yead fsx uses dds alphas for shine etc....they are ok as dx1 no alpha but jpg is smaller and holds as much detail anyways.. I think the spec maps the model used were too dark...heres mine that are fine and work well.and the fsx. btw good tool for making specs is ive found...hdr toning under adjust toolbar...on ps 2018 not sure if its in ps6

1 pointWith so many different aircraft in Strike Fighters it is often the case of selecting an aircraft and fudging it around the skies with only vague recollection of how the radar works and how it is supposed to handle because you didn’t have the time to refresh. The Last of the Lightnings is a mod that unusually for SF2 centers mainly on getting familiar with a certain type of aircraft and its systems. You might even term it DCS lite however I can’t imagine seeing any of the aircraft in this mod featuring in that sim in my lifetime. So, what is it about? The Last of the Lightnings (by comrpnt) is a set of scripted single missions (like YAP) that take the player through an RAF Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) training program and is based on the writings of ex Lightning and F-4 pilot Ian Black. This takes place in 1976 and you are flying the English Electric Lightning F.mk6. The what you say? or as FastCargo once stated before being put under court martial by the USAF for blasphemy [or not]. The Lightning was the last fully designed British supersonic fighter to enter service and its only requirement seems to have been performance above everything else [especially fuel]. Strike Fighters 2 comes with all seven of the single seat variants: Lightning F.mk1 Lightning F.mk1A Lightning F.mk2 Lightning F.mk2A Lightning F.mk3 Lightning F.mk6 Lightning F.mk53 Okay if you are wondering where your Lightnings are then you didn’t buy SF2 Expansion Pack 2 did you, in which case you are one of the reasons TK is now doing crappy phone games only………[hey his words] not to make you feel too guilty! Shame really because it comes with some of the best 3D pits Thirdwire ever did, and probably unique as far as combat sims go with the Lightning: The centrepiece of the mod is a pdf guide that must have taken some time to do and is quite detailed in places. So the point of this is that you will be learning to fly the Lightning or at least be better at it. On Hard flight model (~SFM in DCS) it can be tricky to handle so you will be dragged through formation landings, flying, A-A refueling and even learn how to use the radar to properly intercept targets and actually read the radar symbology. Some of this should be useful for other aircraft at least. Install So yes you need SF2E and SF2 Exp 2 to run this minimum. I was running this from a full merged install, of which I created a separate install by copying the game exe file and running that to create a new Mod folder called LastOfTheLightnings for it. Full instructions are on the PDF and is mostly drag and drop with some ini file editing. For the training rounds I created new folders in the weapons folder and not the old-fashioned way recommended. Mods So once up and running I added mods and changed them as I went through the course. Because of the changes that come with the mod I only changed the terrain tiles, runway, and sky using Better Widesky (Cellisky/Orsin). I have also put in mods to give more head movement and darker nights. Up and running Firstly, you go to single mission only and choose the missions using the date code e.g. [760522] then ignore the text the game puts in because it is wrong [only go by the date code to get the correct mission per the guide]. Check your loadout - obviously the training rounds should be there otherwise don’t touch or change anything just look at the map and then launch. So you start either on the runway or the taxi way on these missions. At the beginning the tricky parts are landing on formation with your Qualified Flying instructor (QFI) and playing chase the QFI. Especially at night you need to be on your feet to keep track of the guy initially! You are then given instruction on how A-A refueling should be done, e.g. fly in formation on the port side before refueling then fly formation on the starboard wing. You then have to try it at night and in clouds. Yes the amazing Ravenclaw Bucc is in this pack. The Intercept phase is interesting and you will be going after low and high targets before flying in formation with them, so you will need to learn what those dots and lines mean After basic intercepts you get to do ACM against the pesky aggressor F-4Ms, although don’t pay too much attention to the instruction for this because they will spam those AIM-7s at you, luckily they are only training rounds [if you installed them properly] and wont kill you. Next live weapons are used to intercept remote controlled unmanned drones (Hunters). The early ones fly straight but the later ones give you problems by turning a lot. After basic strafing there is a pretty cool finale for your graduation, firstly you fly an F-4M as a photo chase plane: Then you get to fly position 9 in a graduation formation fly over of RAF Jever. Final salute to comrpnt for a fine job six years later.

1 pointI've got a dedicated install for the SF2 Korean War mod, and love it. The aircraft set is a bit limited, about 40, but a lot of fun in the jets. I also have dedicated installs for WW2 ETO 1939-45 (170 different ETO aircraft), PTO 1941-45 (130 aircraft), WW2 Russian Front 1941-45 (95 aircraft), WW2 Finland 1939-44 (50 aircraft) and WW2 North Africa 1940-43 (120 aircraft), so I can't agree that SF2 WW2 never took off. There are a lot of WW2 aircraft (and ground objects) around. I don't fly DCS or Il-2, I found them too fiddly and difficult, but SF2 works a treat for me, for WW2 combat flying.

1 pointAFAIU: If you want proper 44100Hz sounds, you have to change ALL (incl. stock sounds) to 44100 Hz.

Welcome. This mission pack follows the Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) training undertaken by Pilot Officer Ian Black during 1985/86, the last RAF pilot to qualify on the English Electric Lightning, as documented in his excellent book The Last of the Lightnings (ISBN-10: 075093073X; ISBN-13: 978-0750930734). The missions in this pack are specifically designed to be used with Thirdwire’s Strike Fighters 2 Europe: Expansion Pack 2 (SF2E:Exp2), which introduced all Lightning types to the game. Where possible, stock objects and aircraft are used. Where necessary new aircraft, skins, weapons, and loadouts have been defined and are included in the pack. The missions The missions in this pack form a syllabus for an OCU course, similar to that undertaken by Ian Black at RAF Binbrook, which is broken down into the following phases: Basic aircraft handling. Basic navigation. Basic radar operation. Advanced radar operation. Radar assisted interceptions, with a varying degree of difficulty based on the angle-off of an approaching enemy. Includes high and low altitude, high and low speed, and combinations of these. Air-to-air refuelling (AAR), using radar to acquire the ‘tanker’. Air combat manoeuvres (ACM) against solo and multiple bogeys, using training rounds to record ‘kills’. Air gunnery school, using live weapons against drone targets. Ground gunnery school, using live weapons against static ground targets. Formation flying, culminating in a diamond-9 flypast to celebration OCU graduation.
