6 pointsHi gang, one of the reasons I sort of stopped caring for the series couple of years back and went my way of not flying combat flight sims was plethora of controversial movements by TK around 2010-2013 period -followed by lack of QOL updates and Thirdwire's focus on mobile market that followed; one of these design decisions was locking clouds altitudes at unrealistic and immersion killing levels of over 14-16k feet ASL which made game less of a fun or challenge turns out solution was very simple hack of vertex shader in ENVCLOUDS.FX which you will find attached in this post, just drop it into your mod's Flight folder, overwrite if asked tested with stock clouds, SARCASM 1.5 and excellent Menrva's realSKY Environment -which I am looking at modding a bit on my end technical blurb: this is simple vertex shader hack that pushes the vertices of clouds plane meshes downwards in world space by user-configurable value: const float4 P = mul(float4(input.pos.x,input.pos.y,input.pos.z - 1900, 1.0), g_mMeshToWorld); // position, world-space where 1900 is world-space units (= meters), all the hack does is feeds the shader skewed z (z being height in SF series, as things should be) value of course there are some issues with intersecting with close range terrain meshes (near_scene) so visual glitches might ensue at times but that was the reason TK pushed them up in the first place Also, if this or other method was posted earlier apologies, haven't looked around much the forums. 4 pointsQuite true, but not the full picture. During the development of ODS 30AE we discovered that it is best to compile a global WeaponData.ini with TW's weapon editor. Not only this allows to have only relevant weapons in a mod folder and remove any unused stock and anachronistic weapons from appearing, it also allows to reorder them and, surprisingly, it seems the AI makes use of guided bombs, while in the old days they wouldn't and dumb versions were required. Bottom line is, if you're planning to do something right for a mod folder, better use the weapon editor. If you're just an end-user who wants to play with an aircraft add-on and its weapons, then you shouldn't bother about this.

3 pointsExactly. The SF2 games still have a reason to exist, they may be dated but they still are a very decent platform and framework for mods. The amount of third-party content made for them is unrivalled. However, TK insists on selling them overpriced on a late 90s-looking store, thus making these games even more unknown and scam-looking. Probably we got it wrong all these years, TK actually stands for Taken Down, with reference to his own game series...

2 pointsWingman will drop LGB on the assigned target or mission target. Nonplayer flights have problems. However, game flights will drop LGBs on mission targets - but only if targets are from ground objects pool. So F-111 will do tank plinking but will have problems with dropping LGB on hangar or Kebab shack.

2 pointsLike daddy said... this kind of mod is more for personal use rather than global update. In the end, you will have someone asking why AA-2 Atol, not R-3 or K-13 Wympel, Why AIM-9F, not 9B FGW mod2...etc, etc... Personally, I am making my own weapon list (in weapon editor) for my mods like Vietnam, Iran etc.. but I sort in a way - fuel tanks, pods, gun pods, a2g missiles, a2a missiles, bombs, rocket pods/rockets...but I keep it for myself, and each time I add new weapon and have the intention to keep it I will edit in proper position via weapon editor. Another thing is that I keep weapons only suitable for a specific mod, and only if I like the model itself (no placeholders either).

1 pointmy two cents on it, time is a resource we expend just like money, gas etc. you have a very ambitious project. but once you release, three types will download it. the ones who will use as is, the ones that will tweak to learn /change how they want, and the ones that will copy group two and not know what they are doing. both of the second two will ask alot of questions and frustrate you (esp group three, just ask Menrva about ODS ). the short version: end users will break this in about 3 seconds, and frustrate you when they ask why its broken mind you, i generally am all for making whatever mod your heart desires. hell im about to make yet another 510th FS Viper skin . but if doing an all encompassing overhaul, ask how hard it will be to break. that is how much time do you want to spend doing this for the community when someone comes along and says it doesnt work anymore because someone took 90 seconds to install a new weapon that isnt in your system

1 pointThanks. I will try it. SitRep: I started to place the very big river Dnepr on the map. It has big reservoirs, you can say it are big artificial lakes, created by big dams. As a first step i placed single sea tiles to mark the way of the river and the big lakes on the map.

1 pointAbsolutely spot on. Great points IMO. (1) Yes - and target the new flight simmers. e.g. the many who I assume will migrate from X-Box after the MSFS 2020 X-Box release. They'll be buying new Win 10 machines. (2) True. And surely the Janes line proved there is a market for that level of play balance? (3) I was super impressed with the mods at http://yankeeairpirate.net/ (4) IMO, if he added Better lighting/atmospherics Elevation data - the billiard board terrain doesn't excite folk anymore More structures Upgrade the skin res (optional) and kept all the content the same = a winner! To illustrate 1,2 and 3, check out this screen from Project Wingman, made with the Unreal engine. This is what people expect these days.

If you intend to install the "VIPER63A HQ Menu Sounds" pack, please install that pack first. Installing the HQ Sound pack over the Menu pack may overwrite some of the menu specific music files. You can always re-install this menu pack to get the menu specific theme music back. This mod includes custom "vietnam Era" themed menu screens, pilots and (w/ 60s) music. You should unzip this package and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better. 1) Backup (copy) your FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folder. I "highly" recommend that you (if you can) "RENAME" your Menu folder and let this mod create a new Menu folder for you. If you had installed any other menu mods, that may conflict with this Menu mod. 2) To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder. Don't forget to back up before loading any mods! My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win10 64-bit was..(yours may be different)... C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighter2 Vietnam\ 3) To uninstall, delete the folders updated by this mod and copy (rename) your backed up folder to FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA.
