it's not the player controlled units, it's the game generated parked aircraft. been that way for years. but, i'd try adjusting the cg to CGPosition=0.00,2.0,0.00 that what mine is for both pasko's 24D and 24J be advised, in may change in-air handling when player flown. otherwise, i'd just ignore it ============ required screenshot

The State of Alabama voted to approve an anti abortion bill injecting itself into the reproductive rights of women. It was only time before a similar bill was introduced that castrates men. Mess with the bull get the horns, mess with the cow get your nuts removed. Once this starts picking up momentum women everywhere will introduce the male anti abortion bill where we castrate at birth and only give the reproductive right back when a man has met the female requirements to father a child. This is the absurdity of government being involved in your sex life. Get used to it these ignorant bastards opened the door with their sexist abortion ban and now men everywhere will pay the price. When will people learn to butt the F out of other people's lives?

Those of you that know me, and my work, know I'm a stickler for historical accuracy. And normally, the following would be posted in the "What If..." thread. But, as to not let them get lost among the usual background noise, choose to use my FIC thread. It's obvious, of course, that these will not be included in any upload for a "Vietnam 1948" scenario. --==== Now, lets take a look at this first one. Instead of fielding Mosquitos, with all their attendant issues in a tropical climate, what if the AdA choose to send Beaufighters instead? We have the full advantage of a rugged, all-metal airframe, with sturdy air cooled radial engines. The Beau had/has a reputation of being fairly fast and manuverable, a good warload, good guns and excellent range. Here we have a Beaufighter TF Mk.X, which also has the advantage of radar, giving it a limited night and all weather capability The guns and rocket loads would be devestating to ground troops, vehicles, ships and with bombs most structures. The aircraft shown here is from GC I/6 "Oranie" As mentioned in a recent release of the post-war P-47D-40 Thunderbolt, the Ada already had a large number of Jugs at their disposal. Many in Western Europe, as part of Occupation Forces in Germany, many in France for air defense, and more in the North African colonies (Algeria). Many of the Real Life (tm) units that used ex-RAF Spitfires and AdA P-63 Kingcobras were P-47 units. The aircraft were left behind due to the fear of the US not providing support (because we were against re-colonialization) So, what if Washington (President Truman and the State Department) could see this as a spread of communism into southeast asia, and not a colonial power re-asserting itself? Support would be forthcoming and the Jugs could have been sent to Indochina. Here we have a P-47D-40 Thunderbolt of GC II/6 "Travail". The squadron codes used here are exactly the same as those historically used on their P-63s in Algeria. ================ Now, lets really go round the bend... The VPAF, as we all know didn't really exist as that entity unitl the 1960s. Although, a few aircraft WERE available to the Viet Minh as early as 1949 (Tiger Moths, maybe 2 of them). In 1956 pilots had been sent for training in the USSR. We know that there was a transport squadron, and possibly other "utility" types in service by the late 1950s. So, what if, in 1945/46 the Viet Minh also take advantage of any serviceable and/or repairable left over Japanese aircraft?? It's really not that big a reach; they're not dumb, and have access to the same resources as the French. It's quite concievable that using ex-Japanese POWs (or forced to work) ground crew and even pilots (or train VM "volenteers"), they could field a few aircraft. Other than the will to do so, I don't see why they couldn't have. So, what we have here below is a Ki-43ii "Oscar" slap-dashedly painted in a disruptive 2-tone green scheme, sporting the Viet Minh flag. Now, in 1949, the world changes yet again. Mao and the communists in mainland China have thrown out the Nationalists, and have begun consolidating their power base. Supported (read: requipped) by the Soviet Union, the PRC starts spreading its message throughout Asia. We know they supported the North Koreans from 1951 with everything imaginable. They also started assisting their brethren to the south with arms and other supplies. The fall of mainland China to communist forces is what, historically, opened the way for US support of the French in Indochina. This is shown in 1951, when the US & UN forces were heavily involved in the Korean War, sending Helldivers, Hellcats, Bearcats and Corsairs to the French. The world was starting to think about the "domino effect" of the spread of communism. So, what if Mao (excuse me - the PLAAF-) had sent a squadron or 2 of their newly acquired (from the USSR) Yak-9s? Just as in Korea, where they were also encountered by UN forces, they'd carry bogus Vietnamese markings (yes, I know the star-bar would be wrong for the time period; probably still using the Vietminh flag as above). There were several ex-Japanese air bases within the communist controlled regions of Tonkin (soon to be North Vietnam), or even fly out of airstrips in southern China. Shown here is a Yak-9 of the 1st People's Volunteer Air Regiment. The Yak-9 was one of the best aircraft to come out from the WW2 Soviet manufacturers, and would definately given any Western aircraft a run for it's money. Please feel free to comment on any of the screenshots in the thread - the historical or the fantasy Thanks!

okay, i'm one day to late. Feb 12. 1942 Operation Donnerkeil / Cerberus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_Dash Two german battleships, one heavy cruiser and some escort vessels forced the break through the English Channel. Less than 200 german fighters formed an air cover for the naval battle group. During the battle the german Luftwaffe lost 17 planes, 11 pilots died. More than 300 british planes attacked the battle group. 43 british planes were shot down. All british air strikes were not successfull. The battle group reached their point of destination without countable losses. Screenshot. Me-109F during escort mission over to the battle group near Calais.

i see TK messing with SF2 for the first time since Jul 2013. on behalf of the modders i would like to now say..... well shit.

The original game didn't have carriers. WoV added carriers. WoE added clouds. WoI fixed a lot of the issues with AI and flight models introduced by WoV and WoE as well as adding better modeling of radar/ecm. If the base install of SF2 came with everything, there would have been no incentive to buy SF2V, SF2E, etc. As it was, the majority of SFP1/WoX purchasers never bought any of the SF2 releases and quite a few people exploited the lack of copy protection to pirate the series. I am not sure why TK even started messing with SF2 again given that he seems to be far more successful at generating revenue with his mobile games without investing nearly as much time, effort, and money.

    When I have fun flights, I kinda like jumping into the US jets (and Tornadoes) of the Cold War. Not too happy with the lack of a CCIP in the @FastCargo & @viper63a F-111s so I have crafted my own. Here are a few pictures of the end result: It's not perfect and I don't terribly like the reticle. But at least this lets me simulate radar bombing with CBUs and slicks. Yes, back before the modern "smart weapon" era where it's click-point-shoot-boom. Here's the current code that works in the F-111s' Avionics.INI and I put it at the very bottom: // F-111 avionics 1.1 by MJ with JosefK CCIP add-on 2020-02-09 [HUD] HUDMaterial=HUDMaterial HUDColor=0.18,1.0,0.48,0.80 BoresightOffset=0.0,0.0 ViewportTopLeft=-0.105,-0.105 ViewportBottomRight=0.105,0.155 [HUDMaterial] EffectShaderName=fltHUD.fx DepthBufferCheck=FALSE DepthBufferWrite=FALSE RenderedInOrder=FALSE AlphaTestEnabled=TRUE CullMode=NO_CULL LightEnabled=FALSE UseLightLevel=FALSE SpecularEnabled=FALSE EmissiveEnabled=FALSE FogEnabled=FALSE AmbientColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000 DiffuseColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000 ZBufferOffset=0 PriorityLevel=1 BlendOp=BLEND_SRC_ALPHA NumTextureStages=1 TextureStage[01].TextureName= TextureStage[01].MipMap=FALSE TextureStage[01].FilterEnabled=TRUE TextureStage[01].StageColorOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE TextureStage[01].StageAlphaOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE [HUDFont] TextFontName=Arial TextSize=9 TextBold=TRUE [HUDModeNav] Symbol[01]=HUD_CASText Symbol[02]=HUD_AttitudeBars Symbol[03]= Symbol[04]=HUD_AirspeedScale Symbol[05]=HUD_AltitudeScale Symbol[06]=HUD_RADText Symbol[07]= Symbol[08]= Symbol[09]=HUD_waterline Symbol[10]=HUD_TD Symbol[11]= [HUDModeAA] Symbol[01]=HUD_CASText Symbol[02]=HUD_AttitudeBars Symbol[03]= Symbol[04]=HUD_AirspeedScale Symbol[05]=HUD_AltitudeScale Symbol[06]=HUD_LCOS Symbol[07]=HUD_TD Symbol[08]=HUD_SRM Symbol[09]=HUD_RADText Symbol[10]= Symbol[11]= Symbol[12]= Symbol[13]=HUD_RadarRange Symbol[14]=HUD_ASE_SRM Symbol[15]=HUD_ASE_MRM Symbol[16]=HUD_guncross [HUDModeAG] Symbol[01]=HUD_CASText Symbol[02]=HUD_AttitudeBars Symbol[03]= Symbol[04]=HUD_AirspeedScale Symbol[05]=HUD_AltitudeScale Symbol[06]=HUD_CCIP Symbol[07]=HUD_RADText Symbol[08]=HUD_LaserTarget Symbol[09]=HUD_guncross [HUD_CASText] SymbolType=TEXT Text=CAS TextPosition=-0.070,0.120 HorizontalAlignment=RIGHT VerticalAlignment=CENTER [HUD_RADText] SymbolType=TEXT Text=RAD TextPosition=0.069,0.120 HorizontalAlignment=LEFT VerticalAlignment=CENTER [HUD_AttitudeBars] SymbolType=ATTITUDE_BARS ImageFilename=cockpit\Harrier1_attitude_bars%d.tga ImagePosition=0.0,0.00 ImageSize=0.150 StepInterval=30 StepHeight=0.25 [HUD_AirspeedScale] SymbolType=AIRSPEED_SCALE ImageFilename=cockpit\F-16A_vel_scale_caret.tga ImagePosition=-0.065,0.023 ImageSize=0.0125 ScaleImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_vel_scale.tga ScaleImagePosition=-0.080,0.023 ScaleImageSize=0.125 Scale=160.0 MaxValue=999 MinValue=60 HorizontalAlignment=RIGHT VerticalAlignment=CENTER ScaleTextInterval=50 ScaleTextUnit=1 ScaleTextPosition=-0.079,0.023 ScaleTextFormat=%0.0f DisplayUnit=KNOTS [HUD_AltitudeScale] SymbolType=ALTITUDE_SCALE ImageFilename=cockpit\F-16A_alt_scale_caret.tga ImagePosition=0.062,0.023 ImageSize=0.0125 ScaleImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_alt_scale.tga ScaleImagePosition=0.077,0.023 ScaleImageSize=0.125 Scale=1600.0 MaxValue=99000 MinValue=0 HorizontalAlignment=LEFT VerticalAlignment=CENTER ScaleTextInterval=500 ScaleTextUnit=1 ScaleTextPosition=0.076,0.023 ScaleTextFormat=%0.0f DisplayUnit=FEET [HUD_LCOS] SymbolType=LCOS [HUD_CCIP] SymbolType=CCIP FallLineImage=cockpit\F-15A_FallLine.tga ImageSize=0.100 [HUD_TD] SymbolType=TD_RADAR ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_TD_radar.tga ImageSize=0.050 StayOnHUD=TRUE [HUD_SRM] SymbolType=TD_HEAT ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_srm_seeker.tga ImageSize=0.050 ImagePosition=0.00,0.023 [HUD_waterline] SymbolType=IMAGE ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_waterline.tga ImageSize=0.025 [HUD_guncross] SymbolType=IMAGE ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_guncross.tga ImageSize=0.025 [HUD_RadarRange] SymbolType=RADAR_RANGE_TEXT TextPosition=0.074,0.120 HorizontalAlignment=LEFT VerticalAlignment=CENTER TextFormat=%0.1f DisplayUnit=NM [HUD_ASE_SRM] SymbolType=ASE_HEAT ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_ase_srm.tga ImageSize=0.100 ImagePosition=0.00,0.023 [HUD_ASE_MRM] SymbolType=ASE_RADAR ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_ase_mrm.tga ImageSize=0.200 ImagePosition=0.00,0.023 [HUD_LaserTarget] SymbolType=TD_LASER ImageFilename=cockpit\F-15A_laser_target.tga ImageSize=0.025 Once I get something I'm 100% happy and not 80% with, hope it's okay to upload the details here for grins. yes it works need proper nodes names. but it will show pilot in parked aircraft on the flight line... but there is also a solution - you can animate - hide pilot for parking animation. But then there is a different sequence of parenting nodes - and in that case, the head movement does not work. But head still can be animated via SystemType=GUNNER_STATION trick. I did that in my Harrier. pro the pilot is part of the model that gives the chance to make a more personalized crew for each aircraft, decals on the face, helmet etc....(wonder if someone noticed that in Harriers some squadrons have decal sets for pilot helmets) et contra: it will eat one animation slot for sure (hide), adds polycount to model (not issue actually in fact - but some might think so) - generally adds more work to model, In my opinion - it is a nice touch worth trying.

I can't fault Thirdwire here considering the money and time he has to invest in this. He is a one man business so I would hope that he is paid something for that work The Kickstarter (or whatever) for this was no where near but he is still giving it away to those very few that wanted it to go on. To make SF2 a viable ongoing business stream from now it needs some very visible major changes of which I doubt we will see.

SF2 has never been supported on Windows 10 despite it running okay for most people. Patches and updates in the past have killed it on occasion so this would mean TK has to fix it if it stops working and do Windows support again . (to be clear that would only be the new Win 10 edition he would fix not the old one) There might be game changes - possibly minimum maybe some kind of Gfx update to use DX12......will have to wait and see.

If we're being honest, this is probably a good thing. A lot of those airframes are older than the pilots flying them. Lots of them (like the Bone) are getting next to impossible to maintain because of their increasing age. Most of them likely couldn't operate in a modern conventional battlespace without massive electronic jamming support (I'm looking at you, F-15C). Some of them have systems that are more than two decades old (the Block 25 Vipers). We could easily hand off the -16s (and even the -15s) to client states that wanted something on the cheap. The US military badly needs to modernize, if for no other reason than the safety of the pilots operating those aircraft. Even the F-22A is getting to be a little old. I'm very glad to see we've invested in some new-build Strike Eagles, probably the most versatile platform since the F-4 Phantom II. I'm also very encouraged by the progress of the Raider; Northrop seems to be moving development along at a brisk pace. We've needed new gear for a while, and we are going on two decades of sustained combat use of so many systems, they are now breaking from fatigue. Everyone was saddened by the retirement of the Tomcat; the way that it happened was worse than the realization that it needed to be retired. I think the one that will affect me more will be the last flight of the F-16. I grew up a stone's throw from the fence around Carswell AFB and as a kid, I watched hundreds of new-build -16s take off for customers and even more being flown in for maintenance. They were just a symbol of America for me. When they're finally retired, it will be because we squeezed every last dime we could out of them.

Here are some pics from a conflict that as far as I remember I haven't seen any related mods about it: On October 1981 during Western Sahara War, Polisario fought against Moroccan forces to take control of the small town of Guelta Zemmur. Moroccan Air Force Mirage F1CH supported ground forces. Polisario had acquired heavy armament including 2K12 Kub (SA-6) air defense system. Polisario forces placed a single SA-6 battery in the area to protect rebels from Mooccan aircrafts. On the afternoon the SA-6 radar, 1S91 Surn acquired a Mirage F1CH that was approaching the area and started tracking it. Launch! Pilot tried to evade the missile deploying chaff... but it was not enough

After the withdrawal of French forces, the partition of FIC into North and South Vietnam (and the other places), the newly formed Republic of Viet Nam Air Force carried on with the aircraft the French left behind (in truth, training of the pilots and ground crew started before the Battle of Dien Bein Phu) Here we have Bearcats from the 1st Fighter Squadron, in their original dark gloss Navy blue, and post-1960 natural metal. and an RVNAF Criquet (Bearcats by me, MS-500 from Paulo's Mod Pack) These aircraft would (could) be used on the stock VietnamSEA map, with a small text edit to the terrains main ini, to give it a start date of 1956.
