3 pointsalso recalled from that era "In November of 1984, shortly before Gorbachev came to power, a Typhoon class Soviet submarine sub surfaced just south of the Grand Banks. It then sank in deep water, apparently suffering a radiation problem.Unconfirmed reports indicated some of the crew were rescued. But according to repeated statements by both Soviet and American governmentsnothing of what you are about to see... ever happened" ok, not historical, but given the topic i couldnt resist. let you all figure out what from tho

2 pointsThis comes up every once in a while, and even I sometimes don't remembe, and have to look it up. So, what this little tutorial will, do, is show and list the steps necessary to "take things out" of a cockpit, that you really don't need. First off, you really, REALLY, REALLY should have a copy of Mue's Lod Viewer (tm). This will give a perfect view of the cockpit itself, with a full listing of the component meshes & their names. In the image below, you see I'm using Raven's Hurricane Mk.1 cockpit, and have marked part of the gunsight. We'll be removing it, as the aircraft I want to use it on, dosen't have one. You'll also notice the mesh name highlighted, over on the upper left pane. So, now we open the cockpit ini, and we'll be adding "new" insturments, so we can move these meshes out of the way. This part stays the same for all the differing methods, of which I will show you. In the =CockpitSeat01' , or 3rd section down, where all the instrument are defined, you'll add the "new" listing --always in numerical order!!! The actual "named" move sections (keep reading) are added at the bottom of the cockpit ini. [CockpitSeat001] ==-major snippage of uneeded statements== Instrument[029]=StandbyCompass Instrument[030]=ADI2 //--removes or moves --/// Instrument[031]=Move1 Instrument[032]=Move2 Instrument[033]=Move3 Instrument[034]=Move4 <----- Move "instrument" statements Instrument[035]=Move5 Instrument[036]=Move6 Instrument[037]=Move7 Instrument[038]=Move8 Now, the first way we discovered, sometime in the mid-2000s, was to "drop them out of sight". It goes something like this: It used the airspeed values, so as soon as the game starts ( "0" knots") the items vanishes. But, there are better and simpler ways As stated by Cliff7600, you can tell the game the mesh is a light (like a warning light, or light bulb, or whatever) As so below: The 3rd Method, as posted by Yakarov and Wilches, is simply make the mesh "Inactive". As seen below Remember, no matter how many moves you use, they must all be listed in the Insturment section, and must match the names of the moves listed. Save and close the cockpit ini, and go in-game to test the operation. It should look like the image below, with all the meshes of the gunsight removed And that's pretty much it Thanks to whoever first invented this (bpao? armordave?) and to cliff7600, yakarov79 and wilches. Happy Moving!!!

This is the newest version of the LODViewer. New features: -decal support -display of collision and pivot points -added transparency and wireframe display mode -user definable background color -view manipulation via keyboard -64 bit application -uses the OpenSceneGraph library and Qt 5.9.5 Install instructions: Extract the content of the zip package to a convenient location. The LODViewer depends on the Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 C++ libraries. If not already installed on the computer (e.g. by other applications) it has to be installed by running vcredist_x64.exe (you can find it in the redist subfolder of this package). Have fun! 1 pointhttps://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,63410.0.html What is TOAS MOD? THE IDEA OF A MOD FOR IL-2 1946 TO REPRESENT THE CONFLICT IN WHICH ARGENTINA AND ENGLAND PARTICIPATED FROM APRIL TO JUNE 1982, BORN ALREADY SOME YEARS AGO IN OUR VIRTUAL SQUADS "CRUZ DEL SUR" AND "GRUPO AERONAVAL EMBARCADO" (GAEv), WHEN CONVINCING US THAT THE "JET THUNDER" PROJECT WILL NEVER SEE THE LIGHT. WE BEGIN TO SEEK HOW TO REPLACE THE "FALKLANDS MOD" FOR THE STRIKE FIGHTERS PROJECT 1 SIMULATOR (CORRECT BUT OBSOLETE AND ULTIMATELY INAPPROPRIATE TO PLAY ONLINE FOR DIFFERENT REASONS). WITH THE RUNNING OF TIME AND THE CONSTANT EVOLUTION AND APPEARING UNSTOPPABLE (THANKS TO THE HUGE EFFORT OF THE COMMUNITIES THAT DON'T LET IT DIE) OF IL-2 1946, ONE DAY WE ARE READY TO GET HANDS TO WORK ... THE OBJECTIVE SEEMS SOMETHING DIFFICULT TO REACH FOR SIMPLE AMATEURS AS WE ARE MOST OF THOSE WHO INTEGRATED THE WORKING GROUP, ANYWAY, CONTINUED AND AT THE END OF 2015 THE FIRST VERSION OF THE PROJECT EMERGED. OF COURSE, THE FIRST VERSION HAD A LOT OF MISTAKES. THE BEST THING WE DID, IT WAS AN A-4B BASED ON THE SPECTACULAR MOD OF BARENSY, TON414 AND CWATSON OF FREEIL2MODING. THIS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ATLANTIC MAPS AVAILABLE, MADE OF THIS FIRST VERSION, SOMETHING NEVER SEEN. SINCE THAT TIME UNTIL TODAY, MANY PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE PROJECT ARE MANY AND HAVE HELPED US ALREADY WITH MODELS, SKINS, MISSIONS ... NEVER HAVE HANDS FOR THESE THINGS. WE LOOKED FOR THE PLATFORM THAT WILL ADAPT MORE TO OUR INTERESTS ... WE PASS FROM THE "STAND-ALONE" VERSIONS (FULLY ASSEMBLED BY US), PASSING THROUGH THE DIFFERENT MEGAPACKS: ULTRAPACK, DGEN, VPMODACT, HSFX ALBOSO BOSA, MIRABAM BUAOS THAT IN THE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES INSIST THAT IT WAS NOT THE MOST CONVENIENT VERSION TO FLY ONLINE%u2026 %u201CA TRUE LASTIMA%u201D, WE THINK, AS IT CERTAINLY BAT APPEARED TO BE THE IDEAL BASE, ITS LONG LIST OF NEWS AND ITS IMPROVED MODULE OF THE %u201CJET ERA %u201D, IT WAS IRRESISTIBLE AS TO NOT TEST IT, BUT WE WAS AFRAID OF THE GREAT AMOUNT OF GIGABYTES THAT REPRESENTED THE FINAL INSTALLATION AND THAT THE INSTALLATION PROCESS AND THE CONSTANT UPDATES WERE SOMETHING TEDIOUS. IN THE END, SOMEONE LISTEN TO OUR PRAYERS AND BAT BECAME VERY EASY TO INSTALL WITH ITS SYSTEM OF MODULES "ONE ON ANOTHER" SIMPLY EXECUTING THE INSTALLER. WE LOOKED FOR THE PLATFORM THAT WILL ADAPT MORE TO OUR INTERESTS ... WE PASS FROM VERSIONS %u201CSTAND-ALONE%u201D (FULLY ARMED FACILITIES BY US), PASSING THROUGH THE DIFFERENT MEGAPACKS: ULTRAPACK, DGEN, VPMODACT, HSFX. BAT WAS ALWAYS SEEN NOT WITH GOOD EYES, BECAUSE IN THE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES INSIST THAT IT WAS NOT THE MOST CONVENIENT VERSION TO FLY ONLINE%u2026 %u201CA TRUE LASTIMATE%u201D, WE THINK, BECAUSE IT CERTAINLY BAT SEEMS TO BE THE IDEAL BASE, ITS LONG LIST NEWS AND ITS IMPROVED "JET ERA" MODULE, RESULTED IRRESISTIBLE AS NOT TO TEST IT, BUT WE WAS AFRAID OF THE GREAT AMOUNT OF GIGABYTES THAT REPRESENTED THE FINAL INSTALLATION AND THAT THE INSTALLATION PROCESS AND THE CONSTANT UPDATES WERE SOMETHING TEDIOUS. IN THE END, SOMEONE LISTEN TO OUR PRAYERS AND BAT BECAME VERY EASY TO INSTALL WITH ITS SYSTEM OF MODULES "ONE ON ANOTHER" SIMPLY EXECUTING THE INSTALLER. FINALLY, AND AGAINST POSSIBLE, BAT RESULTS TO BE THE RIGHT PLATFORM. IT WAS SO FROM THE UPDATE OF BAT 3.5 MUSKETEER, WE HAD ALREADY A SOLID BASE TO APPLY OUR WORK. SOMETIMES ARE STILL MISSING THINGS TO DO AND MAYBE WE HAVE TO CORRECT MANY OTHERS, BUT WE BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE MORE THINGS THAT ARE FINISHED THAN THOSE THAT ARE MISSING TO DO. BEFORE YOU BEGIN, WE DO NOT WANT TO STOP THANKING ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE SAS AND FREEIL2MODING COMMUNITIES FOR ALL ADDONS PUBLISHED TO THE DATE, WHICH WERE WITHOUT DOUBT ANY HUGE HELP TO PROMOTE OUR WORK. NOW WE CAN RETURN SOMETHING TO THE COMMUNITY OF WHICH FOR SO MANY YEARS WE HAVE NUTRIED. Finally, we want to clarify that our award will always be to share our work with the community, and never keep it alone for us. IN ANOTHER WAY IL-2 1946 HAD DIED A LONG TIME AGO. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS ADDON, AS WE ENJOY DOING IT.

1 pointThis? from 1983 https://www.nytimes.com/1983/11/04/world/a-disabled-soviet-sub-surfaces-off-atlantic-coast.html United States Navy officials reported today that a nuclear-powered Soviet attack submarine had surfaced 470 miles off the South Carolina coast, apparently because of mechanical problems. ''The sub seems to be experiencing some sort of mechanical problem,'' a Navy official said. ''But we don't know what the nature of the problem is. They aren't talking to us.'' They said the submarine was barely making headway in rolling seas, but did not appear in danger of foundering. They added that the vessel had not issued a distress call on any international emergency frequency as of late today.

1 pointIn the late 80th the soviet submarine force of the North Fleet made a big scale exercise, broke through the SOSUS line, shaked off the NATO submarines and Sub Hunter ships and disappeared in the mid Atlantic. Two weeks later the most soviet submarines were detected close to the US east coast. The incident you descriped could have happen in this timeframe.

1 pointYeah I know that is always an option, and I appreciate it. I do/did that for some files like skins. But my preference was to keep the things that took much time and effort on a place of myself. I will see how it goes. Just wanted to give a heads up on this as early as possible. About the Internet archive mirror. I added the files that they missed, so everything is mirrored there now. :)

1 pointView File SF2 Vichy French Air Force, Tiger Moth Skin UPgrade SF2 Vichy French Air Force, Tiger Moth Skin UPgrade 2/25/2020 -- Something for Fun -- = For SF2 Any and All= A small upgrade for LloydNB's Vichy French Tigermoth, as used in Indochina in the early 1940s. It is, obviously, for use on RussoUK's DH Tigermoth. The aircraft itself is available at the following URL: https://combatace.com/files/file/14081-sf2-ww2-dh-tigermoth-by-russouk/ This is a very simple mod; just a quickie repaint to remove the original painted on fuselage number, and the addition of 18 "plane-in-squad" numbers. No historical accuracy is claimed, as I've only found one image of the aircraft, and it had the number 5 on it. As said above, something just for fun! Enjoy! 1 pointHelwan Ha-2000 'Khopesh' - 76th Squadron, 222nd Tactical Fighter Brigade, Egyptian Air Force, 2002 The abandonment of the Helwan HA-300 single-seat jet fighter in 1969 seemed to have brought an end any hope of Egypt fielding an indigenous combat aircraft but in the aftermath of the short 1977 Libyan-Egyptian War the Egyptian Air Force issued a requirement for a single-seat multi-role fighter to replace the Su-7's and MiG-21's and also supplement the newly introduced MiG-23's. The Camp David Accords of 1978 saw a sudden lurch in Egyptian foreign policy towards the West and away from Egypt's Arab backers including Saudi Arabia who abruptly cancelled it's previous agreement to purchase a batch of 50 Northrop F-5E's and transfer them to Egypt. Whilst the US State Department had agreed to supply Egypt with 35 ex-USAF F-4E Phantom's (under the project name of Peace Pharaoh) Egypt's President Anwar Sadat was anxious not to become totally reliant upon one political block and authorised several project studies for indigenous weapons for the Egyptian Armed Forces including a new main battle tank and a new single-seat multi-role fighter. The German engineers who had assisted the Egyptian General Aero Organisation in the design and production of the Helwan HA-300 had gone back to Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) in Ottobrun in 1969 and had continued to work on various project studies including the TKF-90 single-seat delta wing twin-jet fighter aircraft being developed for the Luftwaffe. However, this could be seen as being slightly too big and also too expensive for Egypt's requirements so MBB assembled a new project design team led by Günter Ludwig Bölkow tasked with designing a small multi-role lightweight fighter for the Egyptian Air Force with a planned in-service date of 1990. Bölkow's team produced the innovative ECA90 (Egyptian Combat Aircraft for 1990 a small, single-engined design with a delta-wing having 50 degrees of sweepback at the wing root leading edge but with 63 degrees of sweepback on the outer wing leading edge providing better high-alpha performance characteristics than conventional wing designs. MBB needed to look no further than the excellent Turbo-Union RB199 afterburning turbofan that was ideally sized for the ECA90 and had been running since 1972 under the test Vulcan bomber and had accummulated plenty of flight hours in the Panavia Tornado test programme. By early 1981 the ECA90 design had met with the approval of the Egyptian Air Force and at the insistence of President Anwar Sedat the design was re-designated as the Helwan HA-2000 'Khopesh' with orders placed with the Helwan Aircraft Factory (a division of the Egyptian General Aero Organisation) for 90 aircraft. The assassination of President Anwar Sedat in October 1981 might have created a hiatus in the HA-2000 programme but incoming President Hosni Mubarak was previously a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force (indeed, a former air chief marshal) and was a keen supporter of the HA-2000 programme. Whilst Mubarak's support for the programme was solid he did allow for a slight stretching out of the programme calling for a first flight in March 1987 and a service entry date of April 1992. Mubarak considered that this would give the Helwan Aircraft Factory sufficient time to better marshal it's industrial resources, recruit personnel, create infrastructure and understand which advanced technologies could be developed locally and which advanced technologies would need to be imported. Undoubtedly, the MBB team imbedded into Helwan's Factory 36 facility helped smooth out any difficulties and Helwan and MBB worked miracles to meet the prototype first flight deadline but some slippage crept in to the flight test programme to delay the entry into service. The HA-2000 'Khopesh' entered service with the 76th Squadron of the 222nd Tactical Fighter Brigade based at Cairo-West Air Base in May 1993 and eventually equipped six tactical fighter brigades and also the 'Silver Stars' aerobatic team who performed a flypast at the funeral service of former President Hosni Mubarak in late February 2020. 3D Model: Ale Ducat Skin Credit: Torno (Banidos Team) Decals.ini attached Decals.ini

Caporetto Terrain WW1 V2.0 ******************************* INTRODUCTION The Italian Front during WW1 refers to a series of battles fought between 1915 and 1918 in northern Italy between the armies of Austria-Hungary and Germany against Italy. Italy hoped that by joining the countries of the Triple Entente against the Central Powers it would gain Cisalpine Tyrol (today's provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol), the Austrian Littoral, northern Dalmatia and some areas of western Carniola. Italy had hoped to begin the war with a surprise offensive intended to move quickly and capture several Austrian cities. Well, the war soon bogged down into trench warfare similar to the Western Front fought in France. The included terrain represents the situation around September/October 1917, just before the battle of Caporetto. The Battle of Caporetto (also known as the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo, the Battle of Kobarid or the Battle of Karfreit) was the greatest defeat in Italian military history. The battle was fought between the Entente and the Central Powers and took place from 24 October to 19 November 1917, near the town of Kobarid (now in north-western Slovenia, then part of the Austrian Littoral). The battle was named after the Italian name of the town (also known as Karfreit in German). Austro-Hungarian forces, reinforced by German units, were able to break into the Italian front line and rout the Italian forces opposing them. The battle was a demonstration of the effectiveness of the use of stormtroopers and the infiltration tactics developed in part by Oskar von Hutier. The use of poison gas by the Germans also played a key role in the collapse of the Italian Second Army. INCLUDED - Italian terrain/front WW1, situaton around summer/late summer 1917 - 544 unique tiles - 10798 targets and 589 target areas - Terrain represents the most important battlegrounds on the Italian front (Monfalcone, Mt. Hermada, Doberdo and Doberdo Lake, Mt. Fajiti Hrib, Gorizia, Mt. Sabotino, Bainsizza plateau, Caporetto, Mt. Krn, Mt. Tre Cime, Mt. Cristallo, Mt. Lagazuoi, Mt. Col di Lana, Mt. Marmolada, Mt. Ortigara, Mt. Pasubio...and many other historical places) - Needed ground objects are also included - Important mountains where done via satellite images (the tiles), like Marmolada, Mount Krn, Monte Cristallo, etc. all unique - All historical fortifications are included (mountain bunkers, etc.) and locations/naming correct (as good as it gets) - Major railroad lines included - Port of Triest acts as port of Pola with all the major Austro-Hungarian Dreadnoughts stationed there - Flying boat stations included with stationary Lohners and Macchi aircrafts PREREQUISITES - FE Gold or FE2 - Very strong PC and GPU INSTALLATION 1. EXTRAS - You'll find several ZIP files within the temporary 'Extras' folder (like 'c:\temp\caporettoV20\Extras') Description: Terrain_wwiCaporettoFolder_oldCarst.zip - I've repainted the carst region tiles to make them look more like limestone in this new version. If you like more the previous look, then just extract this file and overwrite the tiles within the wwiCaporetto folder. Terrain_wwiCaporettoFolder_oldIsonzo_trench_dry.zip - I've added wet fields and water filled shell holes in this new version. If you like more the previous look, then just extract this file and overwrite the tiles within the wwiCaporetto folder. MenuFolder_Music_MainScreen.zip - If you like a bit more exciting musing in the main menue. Just drop this file into your 'Menue' folder. PilotDataFolder_Additional_PilotImages.zip - These are all the portraits of all aces on the Italian front during 1915-1918. Quite a lot of work went into this. If you like a more historical approach then use these and drop them into your 'PilotData' folder. CREDITS As usually I want to say thank you to all guys who helped me to create the Italian terrain, to TK, Jan Tuma, Stephen1918, ojcar, Gepard, Heck, geo, quack74, Edward, and specially Geezer.
