8 pointsAnother run over North Korea that went well. Tasking of intercepting a flight of Yak-9P over the DMZ and it's pilot decided to play chicken. So head to head we went. I shot him down but even if i was still in the air i knew that he hit me too. Quick outside view and : Then a Fagot-B hit me too and now i can tell the damage handling is ''cough, coug'' real :) But hey, if it flies we still go on... Went back to base but did not check the airspeed indicator and now the right wing went on it's own project : Anyway, made it back on land : Only to be told again i was dead.

F-113A Retaliator (What if) v1.1 ***************************************************** This mod is made for SF2NA. It based on Julhelms RA-5C Vigilante. ---------------------------------------------------------- I. History In 1960 the North American company decided to develope a fighter version of the A-5 Vigilante attack plane. The project got the designation NR-349 Retaliator. The NR-349 Retaliator was North American's proposal for a high-performance fighter aircraft for the US military as a variant of the A-5 with three engines. A third General Electric J79 was in the shaft between the other two engines with two narrow air inlets offset backwards above the inlets of the other engines. The aircraft was to be armed with six AIM-54 Phoenix at sub-fuselage stations. The US Air Force was not interested in, but the US Navy. The Retaliator should act as fleet defender, to intercept incoming long range bombers before they could fire their missiles on US carriers. The US Navy demanded to replace the third engine by an increased internal fuel capacity. Four prototypes where built and the decission was made to reduce the number of Phoenix missiles. So the F-113A Retaliator came into serial production in 1965. 1966 the first units of the uS Navy got the new fighter plane. The Retaliator was used for more than 10 years. Then it was replaced by the F-14A Tomcat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- II. CREDITS: While making F-113A Retaliator i used a lot of files made by other modders. Thanks for this files! The plane filer are made: ~~~~~~~~~~ by Julhelm The flight model is made : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ by Fubar512 & Column5 and modded by me The Cockpit is made ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ by Kesselbrut ---------------------------------------------------------- III. INSTALLATION: -Unzip the folders into your SF2 mod folder ---------------------------------------------------------- IV. 1 pointa correction to note having read thru this D and F carried underwing IN VIETNAM. G carried underwing in Desert Storm, but not during Linebacker. Look in the Units in Combat 55-73 book, and you'll see accounts of the D guys being ticked at how little (27 internally) the G guys were bringing to the fight most common loadout on the externals was 117s or CBUs because of diameter. but 82s, 84s, and even British 1000 pounders (ODS) were not unheard of all the BUFFs after the C model could carry the AGM-28 pylon, since many were tasked with carrying Hound Dogs as part of their nuclear warload. They werent used as commonly from around 1966 through 1972/3 timeframe as they were needed for the nuclear warfighting role. F models pioneered the AGM-28 pylon usage, accomplised by mounting 2 MERs to a steel I beam, then mounting the whole assembly to the AGM-28 pylon The Fs were the first in use, but withdrawn after 6-8 months of operations, as soon as the first Big Belly D models were coming available. E and H model never flew, and Gs went to bolster the force in 72 because they were more numerous than the Hs while the AGM-28 was withdrawn from use in the 70s, it freed up the pylons for use in the 80s and Desert Storm. The pylons wre retired finally same time the G models were in game, the AGM28 assembly is available on the G in my Desert Storm mod. i modified it to be an ECMpod, so you could select the dozen bombe per side with that pylon or 9 per side with HSAB. it would need a slight bit of touch up as its painted for the dark grey undersides of that time, but not too hard to change. the biggie would be editing the D and F data inis to accomodate it not claiming to be an expert, just read that book and the G in Desert Storm books many times over when doing my mods

1 pointHence, also my confusion. Think I'll pick a course that you've helped strengthen and stick to it. In my scenarios (until proven otherwise), the D & F models carried underwing bombs.

1 pointI Will start next the Al Sanbouk (German TNC-45) as I have found good side and top view. so I was thinking if anyone has these three things before I start modeling. sort of to save time, otherwise I will do them. Exocet 40MM missile 76/62 Compact front cannon 40 mm double-barrel ait aircraft. Link to the boat full data: https://luerssen-defence.com/english-luerssen-tnc-45/

1 pointit acts even dumber. don't work with the heavies. OTH, mediums seem to do (a qualified) OK. Again it depends on the usage. B-25s in the pacific work ok, as do they in the med. since we don't have a readily available a-20, I can't test. but the attack profiles, even with custom AI statements in the data ini, are very different for heavies than for mediums (strictly ww2 speaking). the modern (1950 and later) just don't work a advertised. since they all lack (stock mind you) any sensors or scanners (look at the stock data inis for things like the Beagle or Canberra, or Startofart, or the russki heavies. the AI routines take care of it pretty well. Should be left that way (as is stated in numerous heavy bomber mod read me's). after all, the game is called Strike FIGHTERS after all. Leave the bombers under AI control, or suffer disappointments. (wish we had a 'preaching from the mountain' emoji!!! <gr>)

1 pointI see the conversation has moved on to helmet styles? The British "soup-plate" (Brodie) helmet maligned above, was actually very good for its purpose, which was to minimize head wounds for the troops in the trenches in WW1. It was also pretty good at keeping a chap's head and shoulders dry.. I'm rather familiar with it, both from wearing it in an amateur production of RC Sherriff's "Journey's End" in 1970 (see first pic, I'm the Tommy on the left - the scene is set on 20 March 1918 on the Fifth Army front, rather not a good place and time to be.. ), and also because back in 1979, my warrant officer at RAF Lyneham insisted on still wearing his old 1916-style helmet whenever we had a Station tactical evaluation/exercise - "this is what I was issued with in 1944 Sir!". Not even the Station Commander would contradict him :) For most of my RAF career though we used the 1944 pattern "turtle" helmet (second pic). Also very good in the rain. However sometimes some of the less experienced would put it on back-to-front, we thought it made them look like East Germans.. Finally, in the mid-Eighties I was issued with the then-new Mk 6 Kevlar helmet. When I left the Service in 1997 - by then with UN Peacekeeping, after 3 years' Loan Service with UNHQ here in New York ;) - a minor "accounting error" meant that I was left in possession of this helmet. The stores corporal back in Britain was most understanding, when he realized that my helmet wasn't showing on his records, he asked "so do you want all the different covers for it sir?" This came in very useful a few years later, when I was in Bunia, NE DR Congo at a particularly unpleasant time, see third pic. Felt much (much!) happier with a combat-proven British Army helmet*, than with a cheap UN blue Kevlar helmet procured from the lowest bidder on an international contract**. Besides my British helmet had the advantage that if things got really really bad, one could always lie down, pull off the blue cover to reveal the camo cover underneath, and "make a noise like a bush". Cheers Stay Well Mike *..and with a US Army flak jacket, for same reasons. ** not saying where those came from, except - mes excuses mes amis…

1 pointIt is a "normal" Flanker, but it was stripped down to beat time-to-climb records, which it still holds surprisingly. Everything that wasn't required for safe flight was removed, in fact the Soviets went as far as removing the flaperon, slats, and airbrake actuators. Slowing this thing down from Mach 2+ and 60k ft is a bit of a hassle, I must say. Anyway, to come as close to the real P-42 as possible, a lot of antennas (antennae?) as well as the landing gear mudguard, HUD, IRST, ventral fins and of course the pylons have to be removed. That means a lot of model nodes. The model itself is, well, what it is, but it's not really the proper model to be fair. I'm not planning on releasing it or anything. This is just a small project I wanted to make partly because I'm fascinated by the P-42 and wanted to (kind of) fly it, and partly because this is a great excuse (for me) to dive deep into the inner workings of an aircraft, and learn how everything works in SF2. So thanks for the extra bit of knowledge!

1 pointDecided to make a mission over North Korea and usually the flak is all around my plane but this time i got hit with pretty severe damage over the DMZ... Lucky enough, plane was still barely controllable and allied airfield was in sight A bit overspeed on approach but that way the plane was less drifting and barely responsive to controls. Put the airbrakes out to slow down at last moment And landed the wounded plane back. Only to see on the debrief screen that my pilot died... He should have sh!t himself out after all :)

1 pointFinally got an opportunity to put the Breguet 14 B.2 through its paces, and noting the excellent work on resurrecting this model by Wilches, VonS, Heck, and others, offer a few DATA.INI changes for your interest.
