8 pointsLockheed F-104H Starfighter - Grupo 8 de Caza, Fuerza Aérea Argentina, 1982 During the Spring of 1965 the Fuerza Aérea Argentina formally issued an operational requirement for a supersonic fighter-bomber to supplement and eventually replace it's F-86 Sabre force and to operate alongside the Douglas Skyhawks that were just entering service. The BAC Lightning was quickly ruled out as being short on range and undeveloped in the air-to-ground role and by the end of 1965 Fuerza Aérea Argentina officials declared that the choice was between the Dassault Mirage III and the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. Lockheed had proposed a new variant, the F-104H, a projected export version based on the F-104G but with an optical gunsight and simplified equipment. Following a visit by Lockheed representatives to the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires in early July 1966 the newly inaugurated President Juan Carlos Onganía announced that 36 F-104H's would be procured for the Fuerza Aérea Argentina. Entering service in March 1968 with Grupo 8 de Caza at the Military Air Base Mariano Moreno the F-104H's served until 2006 when the last Starfighters operating anywhere in the world were finally retired.

5 pointsThe campaign seems to be working well now. Its really hard for the british side and easier for the germans. Both sides can win now. I will test it further.

Lockheed Starfighter F.3 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock F-104G to create a fictional Starfighter F.3 in service with the Royal Air Force in the 1980-1991 timeline and it includes markings for No.29 Squadron and No.56 Squadron with 18 contemporary serial numbers shared between them. BACKSTORY Delays in the UK's Tornado ADV programme lead to the RAF upgrading 38 Lockheed Starfighter FGR.2's to a new F.3 standard featuring the uprated J79-GE-19 engine (developing 12,000lbs dry thrust and 17,900lbs with afterburner) and the improved NASARR R-21G/H radar with moving target indicator and continuous wave illuminator for the Skyflash semi-active radar homing missile. Entering service with No.29 Squadron in 1980 the Starfighter F.3's remained in service until 1991. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the StarfighterF3 folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the StarfighterF3 folder into your Decals folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 1 - 21/03/2021 -

2 pointsYou can also manage your attachments if your space is full by removing older ones. https://combatace.com/attachments/ You can make full use of our gallery as well. Photos in the gallery can be linked directly into your posts. Yes it's more cumbersome but there's no limit on space. VonS is right though your allotted space you can use on disk is defined by your account. The higher level accounts have more space and more perks.

2 pointsYeah, I'm sorry we didn't release this yet. We were working on a major rework of the cockpit last year, then the pandemic happened and the 3d modeller had to leave source files away from home. We restarted work recently with older source files. There's still much to do cockpit related, but I want to make sure it's a definitive release.

1 pointNot DC-9, more Boeing 727 style, but bigger and more capable. Was a really good plane. Faster than the other airliners and not as loud for the passengers.
-
1 pointThese would have been great in the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas War. Even better than the Mirage IIIEA. For the SHARs... BTW do not misunderstand, I have 4 friends who served in that unfortunate conflict. Two on each side, one each navy, air force. All highly respected (though of the 2 navy friends, I liked Carlos; less sure of David.. )
-
1 pointit should work how you mentioned. the alibi fire on that is that the RED side i would have more of the other side airlines within the skin, and fewer in the regular Airliner nation one. but thats how i would do it kind of like the TSF skins i did on a few airliners for JonathanRL when he was still active in SF2. mostly European airlines or at least ones that would be seen in Sweden (there were a few American companies for the DC-10). but every third one was SAS, as you would expect to see more of them in Stockholm. nothing too hard, was just a matter of copy paste and rename once the originals were done. other Kev (), they look good and you should release them just for Pan Am with serials an Clipper names! there is nations entry in the skins and data ini, so i wonder if you could have the data nation as airliner, export as true, and individual nation in the textureset ini. if so, no conflict with mine with just a couple minor changes in the data ini oh and for all the Aeroflot comments above, in a SF2E wartime scenario the airliners are flying for the Soviet military not the airline. game on

1 pointyah! on the ov-10a, the tractor beams are coming form the elevator mass balance horns, which is why i removed them from the revamp.

1 pointYou also have to edit the RWR.lst (use Notepad or whatever to open it) of the individual aircraft, such as this: Crotale_G=RWR_440g.tga Crotale_S=RWR_440s.tga This file is generally in the Cockpit folder of the aircraft for you to add it to.
-
1 pointTrue, but given SF2 you may get airliners, but you never know too. You can always imagine that it's a Red Dawn scenario, filled with troops instead of civilians. Not that I advocate shooting down airliners, but it might cycle them if you're not too careful.
-
1 pointI have to admit, over Germany, if there is any An-12 flying around, mission can wait, that big boy is going down. Not sure it would be the same with airliners though.

1 pointI stand corrected, although, the shadow thing is also a reason, Interesting to read why this happens and what causes it. Time for aa new Bronco methinks lol.....Yeah THAT is gonna happen !!
-
1 pointThis is all I know of this story. I think it's really interesting and wondering how that works out in the end.
-
1 pointI can tell you for a fact, it's coming from the nose gear strut. I did the "hide nodes" trick, and that made it go away. It also had the side effect off removing the nose gear!! (which didn't seem to hinder operations!!!!) That model is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frakking old, and has so many flaws (mesh-wise). It's like most of the 1stGens imported to SF2. The newer engine exposed all the shortcomings
-
1 pointby, was i WRONG!!! (you'd think I'd remember FL has a west coast, after doing the OTC map!!)

1 pointIt's good to finally be back home Erik, the site looks fantastic btw, and with BHaH II on the horizon the'll be more of us dropping by in the weeks/months to come. Thank you again stay safe

1 pointI hear you. Thirdwire I think they have a management and strategic dilemma. I really hope and pray they come out with the new windows 10 update at least
-
1 pointI am not into 3D modelling, but if I remember well, this phenomenon started appearing with the second gen games and is being referred to here as a "tractor beam". Just search the forum for threads where "tractor beam" is mentioned. Here is an example:

1 pointHello everybody, Another week has passed and our work has moved another step forward. The Collector AAA vehicle, 25-mm automatic gun installed on the chassis of the GAZ-MM truck will be finished soon - the physical model of the truck is ready, as are the automatic gun animations and functioning, all animations of the chassis and the crew as well as gun ballistics and damage model are also done. The correction system for the gunsight that turned out to be incredibly complex kinematically is in. The unique audio and more detailed tech of the tires visualization and deformation are icing on the cake. All these elements have something new and are believed to be interesting for the end-user to familiarize with and learn something new. At the moment we're improving the visual look of the new vehicle, the texturing of the gun, and apply the new DVD tech we talked about in our previous Dev Blog to make the result the best. Meanwhile, a part of our mapping department works on improving the railyards on the Rheinland map (Bodenplatte project). They aren't the most striking or shiny detail of the numerous cities on this map, but they do improve the overall visual look of the scene and make the landscape more realistic. This time we can show you the screenshots of the railroad structures in the cities of Cologne, Brussels, Bonn, Duisburg, Liege, Mainz, Frankfurt am Mein.

1 pointVonS, take all the time you need and thank you for your work. Now, how did these jalopies get off the ground in real life? And how brave, or insane, were the men who got into them in the belief that they could?

1 pointSo in my everlasting quest for how much BS i can get away with in Vietnam, i felt like starting a what-if campaign. IRL, Johnson asked Franco for some sort of Spanish support againt Communism in Vietnam when the war started. Franco sent a letter back, telling him that the US would loose the war because communism looks great when you are piss poor, and sent a Field Hospital, but no combat troops. So i thought "What if he pulled something ludicrous such as sending HA-1112s (Bf109s with Merlin engines, as seen in Battle of Britain) as COIN aircraft?" Lacking HA-1112s, got the stock Avia S-199. Turns out...you can outMiG the MiGs
