3 pointsThere are a lot more variants than the "SMT" missing if you want a "full" collection. List of Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 variants - Wikipedia The SMT is a minor footnote in all of that history. SF2's stock install has quite the collection and with free user addons, I doubt any other sim will ever cover so many MiG-21 variants so well, despite any errors and/or omissions.

1 pointi´m working on a new F-4B model for SF2 and need a bit help 1. based on the tactical manual from September 1972 for the F-4B was the AERO-3B launchrail used on early F-4B versions , antil when was this Aero-3B / AIM-9B used in the Navy ??? i assume that with the AIM-9D service start ( about 1966 ) the LAU-7A launchrail was used also for the AIM-9B 2. the F-4B was able to carry 1 AIM-7 on the inner wing pylon , did that continou for all Navy versions of the F-4 , i have pictures showing the AIM-7 on inner wing pylon on F-4N dont know with later versions 3. is there a way to limit the drag chute to be used on land based airfields only , i now that we have some entrys so the chute can only be dployed with a certain air speed dont know if there is a way for land based airfields to if anybody knows some answers please let me know

This is a Beta mod, anyone who wants to help and finish it, thank you in advance. Also for campaigns that I failed to activate due to strategic nodes, ground troops are therefore inactive. I hope that someone will not resent me because I used some elements from other mods, all with the best intention to bring the best possible atmosphere to everyone on the forum here. Thank you for your understanding. I also thank my development team, first of all Stratos, Tiopilotos and others. -
1 pointMicrosoft Set To Purchase CombatACE It's no secret Microsoft is looking to expand its services and enhance overall user experience by purchasing companies such as Discord. While such moves may seem obvious to most, one move Microsoft is making has many in the tech industry wondering about the things Microsoft is planning next. To the members here at CombatACE are familiar with developers such as ThirdWire and Eagle Dynamics. Earlier this month Microsoft attempted to purchase Eagle Dynamics and take over the DCS World many have to come to love. However Eagle Dynamics told Microsoft to step off and tinker with their little flight simulator. Microsoft angrily shook their fist at Eagle Dynamics and then pointed to a lone developer somewhere in Texas and announced they would purchase his humble company called ThirdWire. When it comes to big companies like Microsoft purchasing companies like ThirdWire a lot of footwork is done. While doing their research Microsoft learned about other sites they can buy to enhance their user experience. CombatACE is the top of their list and Microsoft is pleased to see a humble community filled with amazing people, programmers, and mod developers. "It's like all these things we wanted rolled into one little package" said William J Tinsdale Vlll "CombatACE will make a fine addition to our collection." But what will this mean for the users at CombatACE? To answer that question we reached out to the man himself. @Erik "Well at first I was against it" Erik stated "We built a thriving community for ourselves and not some corporate giant just to come in and take over and do whatever they want with it." So, okay, so why is Microsoft buying CombatACE if that's the case? "When someone offers you a free slightly used $200 million private jet with a full crew, free fuel, and millions of dollars for the pocket. You just gotta ask where to sign you know. Besides do you know how hard it is to run a website as large as CombatACE on a daily basis? It's rewarding work but it's hard work and if Microsoft want's to take over I'm cool with that. This jet is awesome and I have a surprise for all of the long time members here. They can get 1 free trip." Looking nice there man! An inside look the dining area "Regardless of the direction Microsoft chooses to take" Erik explains "they've assured me they'll continue to maintain the aspects that make CombatACE a great website. It is my hopes the community will continue to thrive and that people will get a kick out of this obvious April Fool's article entirely made up by Skyviper" Seriously @Erik, @MK2 , Mod Developers, CombatACE Staff and Members, thank you for making this site the awesome place it is.

1 pointThe topic "Nesher" we had discussed in already in 2009 here: The basic was an article in the german air magazin Fliegerrevue 7/2009 page 64, written by Tom Cooper. Here a picture of an Nesher in israeli museum https://www.airliners.net/photo/Israel---Air/Dassault-Mirage-5J/0798878?sid=f6b2d59ca5df280b61399c12c90ba151 interessting is the remark: "501 (cn 1) Despite the official story that this is an IAI Nesher, a check of the aircraft ID plates in the wheel wells reveals that this is really the first production Dassault Mirage 5J. On display in the Israel Air Force Museum." For the article about the american pilots in IAF i must search in my old Air Forces Monthly. It could be, that the article was from Tom Cooper too. It was written by using egyptian sources. One point i remember was the different behavior of the israeli CSAR troops. The egyptians were astonished that in the case of some shot down israeli pilots no attempt to rescue was made by IDF, while other pilots, shot down in more dangerous areas, were rescued by using a lot of manpower and helicopters. Later ones, the egyptians believed, were american pilots. An other hint that it could be american pilots was, that the found wrecks in that areas had not had camo paint. As far as i can remember. I will try to find that article. It will take a while to find it in the more than 100 AFM i have.

1 pointWhen you see all the confusion about MiG-21 designations including Third Wire games, you have to remember, prior to the fall of the Soviet Union, MiGs were classified visually into their NATO designations: i.e. Fishbed C, D, E, J, L, N etc. Letters were assigned as new visual differences appeared. So a Russian variant and its export might get the same letter because they looked the same even though they may have significant internal differences. Likewise, two variants that were very similar but had some major visual change would have different letters. What little that was reported on actual Soviet designations was confusing in the West. After information became available, documents continue to mix up old NATO guesses for Soviet designations versus actual designations. Add to that the fact that the MiG factory had their own production series numbers for variants independent of the Soviet government's official MiG designation. As someone who grew up with the NATO designations, a MiG-21F and MiG-21F-13 were indistinguishable: both were publicly known as MiG-21F Fishbed C to me and in fact, I didn't know about the original production variant until maybe the late 80s/early 90s. Among the Third Wire designations, the one reflecting the most confusion from my perspective is the MiG-21PFV. There was no MiG-21PFV. The Vietnamese flew the same export variants of the PF series flown by other clients. Russian sources don't note any special version with a "V" for Vietnam or some customization used by Vietnam. The extra letters usually annotate some sort of weapon, sensor, or propulsion upgrade.
