APR65 Pleiku, South Vietnam. So we got off to a quick start. First was basically a stroll away not too far from base. An enemy base camp so we loaded up with a lot of rockets and WP, except for our plane as they had us lugging four 500lb bombs. How they expected us to deliver them with any kind of accuracy was beyond us but i wasn't in the mood to argue. So three of us went on the mission. To cut a long story, we found some trucks moving under some sparse tree cover and attacked. First pass, two bombs off the wings, scratch one truck. Talk about a lucky drop because that's what it was, pure luck. So we spot another truck and what do you know? Same result. Two bombs, another truck. So by now everyone really has their eyes open (with Williamson on the scope) but no joy. After a few minutes of circling around some we decided to overfly the area real low but then we remembered some A4s were coming to hit the camp so we climbed and waited to get a visual on them. Guns first saw them from the back so we lined up and maneuvered to get a good sight on their drop. Sure enough, after they dropped we went straight in and as we dipped in to take a look, Surfer in the nose spotted a truck. A bit of a climb then another dip and in we went. Sprayed the area with rocket fire and we got that truck. We were pretty sure there was more down there but why press our luck (and strain the airframe) so back to base it went. Next mission was a quick step over the DMZ to check out something someone saw recently. The flight up there was nice and quiet. At least for us, the Air Force B-57 flight that was supposed to hit what we found flew over some VC position and their leader was shot down!. Oh well. It was an easy check ride up until AAA opened up on us. We were at 8500ft so we figured it should be too bad but it soon got pretty lively. As me and Kenny put the aircraft through some evasive action, Surfer saw something of interest at 11 low so as we broke to take a look, a very apparent base was seen by all. Even though we had the ordnance, our orders were just to take a look and anyways, the fire was getting pretty bad. So as a grand evasive method, me and Kenny decided to dive in over them and drop some WP so we could fix the location. So that's what we did. Except the AAA was so bad we actually circled back towards the base in our evasion. Seeing as we had climbed at a good rate, it was time for a go to hell move. So that's what we did. Back down we went with rockets flying. I didn't aim at anything, just fired as many down among them. As we were heading back over the hills now, we really went through some contortions but we got out of there in a hurry. All in all it was good that we only had some very minor holes from the whole affair. Could have been worse, those Air Force guys had another B-57 hit over the base and had to bail out on the way home due to the damage.

Somebody is out of their $^%&ing mind! How the %&$# do they expect us to do this %&*% with this airplane? So the Air Force has this new thing they are doing and somehow, someone piped up along the lines of "the Navy can help a bit". So they pick us. Of every squadron in SE Asia, they pick VP-2. Notice there isn't an A or an F infront of the number. We fly patrol aircraft, for Christ's sake. We are an anti-submarine outfit. What the hell do we know about finding and bombing VC? Nothing that i know of, but they figured we fired ordnance before so we must be qualified for the job. So as i barely get my feet on the ground in Da Nang after getting in country, they cut a bunch of orders and move us all they way here in the middle of nowhere, absolutely nowhere near the sea. Yeah i remember what my dad and uncle said when i told them i'd be flying a Neptune. They were Marines in World War 2, y'know? They saw everybody and everything getting blown to hell on island after island across the pacific and they saw the guys in planes flying patrols, taking vacations in comparison. Oh hell. I need a drink. I'm David Esposito. I'm a Naval Aviator.

This was solved several yrs. ago for FE2, also on several prop aircraft in my small, early WW2 prop packs for SF2. The trick is to include "MaxG" entries for various lift/flying surfaces in the data inis, such as for wing inner, middle, outer panels, etc., as well as for the left/right stab entries for the horizontal stabilizer - the value may also be introduced for control surfaces such as elevators, ailerons, etc. The "StructuralFactor" value helps somewhat - but the main solution is to implement "MaxG" entries across several sections of data inserts in the data inis. Usually there is only one "MaxG" entry under the "Flight Control" of a stock data ini - but that is largely there only to limit the AI behavior. For a more thorough post on the subject, I recommend this old FE2 thread: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/90029-tweak-for-more-dangerous-power-dives/?tab=comments#comment-727517 Happy flying and MaxG testing, Von S

Hello, gents. Although I prefer to keep discussion of the OCM to my thread at simhq for now, I have several pics of work in progress I would like to post, and combatace.com is much friendlier with images than the other site, so I thought I would post them here. Keep in mind that these are all works in progress and may or may not show up in the mod. Of course, all questions and comments are welcome. Overall, I am making progress on the mod and hope to have something by the middle of next month or so. ALL PICS ARE WORKS IN PROGRESS Old light haze New light haze Old thick haze New thick haze New Fog Let me know what you like and don't like about the pics. The main obstacle to getting any of these new clouds into the sim is the flashing issue. Although I have been able to reduce it some, no matter how I try, I can't seem to completely eliminate it, especially for haze and fog clouds. That's why you see so few of these clouds in vanilla BHaH2. However, I haven't given up hope yet! Cheers!

Thanks, but that doesn't work either. DamageRating is set to "Destroyed", I've tried matching up the FlightControl MaxG value with the wings', nothing works. I have looked at every line in the wing, fuselage, etc sections and can't see anything that would change something. Funnily enough this is what I tried doing at first, but when I looked at the stock aircraft data.inis and saw they only have one MaxG entry I thought it wouldn't do anything, I'm certainly happy to see I was right! For now I'll leave it as is. I don't want to get frustrated with this and give up the whole thing, there's a lot to do with the FM and frankly as this thread shows structure limitations shouldn't be my priority. Thanks for the help though!

Don't bother... it's a spaghetti coded bugfest that will drain your will to live... starting now it would take months to get to things like the Phantom, it's just not worth the time or effort. Low/Mid Tier stuff can be fun, if for no other reason than it allows to blow off some steam vs other players rather than AI... just a pity MP got axed from the TW series.... WT is a very poor substitute for what could have been.

I saw somewhere that 9Gs is the max for an average pilot so I go by that measure for jets and the like. Pretty much if my screen goes black I relax the stick and fly from there.

Thank you @MenrvaI just found out after reading what you stated that I have it set as CarrierBaseSize=SMALL for the helicopter taking off and landing that made it an aircraft carrier and that only allows me to have only one. so I needed to make another set of the Niteroi Frigate without a helicopter command to make a formation.

War Thunder has a very nice selection of planes and tanks. And the damage models are cool too. I've played my fair share, but grinding like that is not something I have any interest in doing anymore (I feel old saying that!) Stopped playing World of Tanks and World of Warships for the same reason. These games make it so easy to put your money into as well. It's horrifying how much money some people have put into these games. The WT community is also, how do I put this..."interesting" And then there's SF2 which, ok let's be honest it's ancient, but it just feels so right.

Seems to be the MiG LMFS prototype or mock up. The russians are working on this plane since a couple of years. This plane could be seen as a confession, that the Su-57 is to expensive for a nation with mediocre economic power like Russia.

some tanks used a machine gun calibrated to match the trajectory of the main gun to get their gun on target before using the main gun. I think the US Ontos used that method of targeting too.

***Solomons campaign Readme*** This is a "quick" and dirty little campaign for those who have made a Pacific war install. I wanted to do more than just single missions so researched how to make a camapign on my own. It was a little frustrating, but also quite rewarding and fun. I espesially liked the research part. Which brings to mind, this is not a strictly historical campaign. The units that are flyable did fight during the camapign but there are tons of details Im sure people could pick apart till the cows come home. What you need... To start with, the Solomons Version 3 terrain and wrenchs' planes readily available at combatace. You'll need the F4F-4, P-39/P400, P-38F, SBD-3 and SBD-5, F4U-1_TMF, A6M2, D3a Val, and Ki-43IIb packages from Wrench. He has done an OUTSTANDING job breathing new life into these models. Also the Betty G4M2 from armourdave. Add Starys' solomons and phillippines visual updates and wrenchs' pacific ships. I also added Kesselbrut's Pazific_GOP infantry and AAA units. Also look for the ShermanM4A3 and Type95 tanks, I forgot what the name of the pack I found them in but they are found at combatace. If you want to add a little more "period" feel to this campaign, add my Menu music and Pacific AirWar menu screens, also found at combatace. Just unzip this file into your C:\Users\Jeff\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 PAW folder, (or whatever you named your PAW install.) Hope ya like 'em. Please let me know if there are any issues, I have not been able to test as thoroughly as I would like. These files are released under the CombatAce Freeware Licensing agreement. You are free to modify these files and use them as you wish as long as the files are not used in payware of any kind. If you use them, please remember to give credit. These files are released to a great community of simmers at CombatAce and SimHq. Have fun and God bless. Jeff "pcpilot" Gerald
