6 pointsGentlemen, the NF-5A Volume is nearing completion. The cockpit has received a complete overhaul- this time all consoles, and not just the main instrument panel, reflect the NF-5A as in use by the RNLAF. Ravenclaw007, Crusader, and Baffmeister have all workd hard to bring this aircraft to its current state; and Soulfreak has contributed some outstanding f-16 Camo schemes (who knows there may be more..) Last but not least, Cliff7600 and Logan4 have also contributed their skills to the aircraft's avionics. Two weeks to release.. maybe a little less

4 pointsNot directly related to SF2, but tought this one was way too cool to not post it here, loved the scheme. All credits to Dizzyfugu:

2 pointsHelicopters are going to be removed with the upcoming re-release of ODS 30AE. The previous release included them with countless bugs. A helo add-on is currently worked on for a future release, @guuruu has developed numerous work-arounds/formulas in order to get very decent flight models. That being said, the Strike Fighters 2 game engine does not support helicopters at all, they are treated as fixed-wing aircraft, so they take-off from runways and so on. Helicopter fans should look elsewhere for a helo game or simulator. Helo add-ons can be enjoyable within SF2 to an extent, but I would never recommend Strike Fighters for helicopters.

Help! This has been an attempt to make a fictional 1944 campaign around Wrench's very nice Phillipines terrain. https://combatace.com/files/file/14171-phillipines-islands-1944-ww2-pto-terrain-for-sf2/ After reading 'Race of Aces' (great book - get it) I wanted to fly and fight many types of aircraft on that terrain. This is my first try at a campaign, and it uses a lot of gutting and reverse engineering from: Regula50's https://combatace.com/files/file/16491-tainan-kokutai-new-guinea-1942-campaignpart-1/ and -2 Pcpilot's https://combatace.com/files/file/13709-solomons-campaign/ Hope you guys don't mind - it's how I learn. Also much thanks to all the various aircraft downloads from this site I've used. This is a great community. If you don't have the various aircraft, just edit the ini's I tossed various planes around on the bases. Again, no attempt at historical accuracy. Problem: The US aircraft all seem there and working, but only two groups of Japanese are working. A6M7/Lahug Field and J2M1/La Carlotta Field. I can't get the rest of the Japanese aircraft to appear. No idea what's wrong.... -I've tried moving aircraft around on the various airbases -lengthened the runways in the terrain folder in case the planes needed longer ones -increased the max number of squadrons allowed on the airbases in the terrain folder -various other hail mary attempts I've forgotten about. There are a lot of values and parameters I still don't understand in the ini's. If anyone wants to try to fix this and repost it I'd appreciate it. B -

1 pointThere has been some musing from the pres that the US will try to assist the Astan from afar.............and afar really does seem to mean that. Maybe they will stay in touch with MS Teams or Zoom! https://choice.npr.org/index.html?origin=https://www.npr.org/2021/05/17/997494815/the-u-s-looks-to-support-the-afghan-military-from-over-the-horizon Glad I saved this from 2014:

1 pointSandbagger has hosted/posted version 3 of User skins and Alternatives. Pack 3 has 193 new skins/all the older skins have had an image quality upgrade and some rework. Some misplaced skins were removed from Pack 1 to Alternatives or deleted. So now there are 279 in there and 149 in Pack 2 and 124 in Alternatives. There are skins for Kest 1 and 3/some Fokker DVII {Alb) with five color wings and fuselages and t here are skins to fill in the BH&H2 gaps in Jastas 4/5/10 15 and 18. I made some early Pfalz DIII factory camouflage crates for Jasta 10 and put some in Kest One, just for Fun (poem). Pictures are posted here and on Combat Ace Forum.

1 pointanything we can do? no, other than help the ones that helped us get out if they want to ninety percent of hte ANA doesnt give a shit about anyone other than themselves. the ten percent that are actually good soldiers just isnt enough to do much. hopefully a different group altogether pops up, knocks the taliban on their ass and sets up a loose confederation amongst the tribes. still a pipe dream, but more realistic than the current Afghan government being effective or possible existant a year from now. i always found it funny that we had better justification for the start of afghanistan, but iraq was more successful (ish) because that government and army could almost stand on its own.

1 pointMy deployment was nothing more than a glorified tax payer funded work vacation behind old Soviet minefields and rows of barbed wire. That said, I don’t think there’s much we can do to help the ANA, if the ANA isn’t willing to help itself. Writing has been on the wall for some time. The biggest enemy to the Taliban now is probably itself. It’s a much more ethnically diverse organization compared to its Pashtun origins, but Afghanistan’s people always turn on each other eventually. I do wish the best for the people there though. It’s a beautiful country.

1 pointConsider your wingman to be nothing more than a decoy for SAMs. They’ll tend to still follow you after they call bingo. I think when they call joker they’ll RTB on their own.

1 pointNothing will help... for centuries armies have tried to conquer, eradicate, help or control that area of the world. No one has managed it yet, and I doubt anyone will in the future. It's up to the people there now to sort it.

1 pointThere was a nice scene about this subject in the russian Afghanistan war movie "9th Company" One experienced soviet soldier explained a nobbie: "Look. This are the Greens, our f*cking afghan allies. If the fight with the enemy starts, they run away and you will find them 5 kilometers behind the frontline!"

1 pointOr .... if it's win10 try configuring Windows Media Player. In other words, just run it. Worked for me when I had a similar issue on a new rig.

1 pointI just had this problem on a new build myself, it is addressed in the frequently asked questions and this is what I did to resolve it. Go to the short cut you use to start the game and right click it, then go to properties, when that opens go to compatibility, then check the box for run compatibility mode for, and in my case used Windows 8 it the options. That cleared up the problem for me, good luck!

1 pointIf anything ever flew, Spinners has put a cool skin with a British roundel on it with a nice backstory. He is doing the same with other roundels, and soon enough he will do invented roundels as well. Heck, I'm Spanish and not too long ago i was screaming Rule Britannia while playing with RAF Avro Arrows escorting TSR2s hammering Port Said for Imperial reasons.
