    View File A-7 Corsair II 1970-1982 skin pack. Simple skin pack with a few sets of skins for Navy versions of A-7 Corsair II - A/B/C/E and E_74. Basic modding skills are required to run this mod. (copy/paste, mod folder structure etc.) It is designed for and works only in SF2 series. To run this mod you need also access to TW lod files from SF2 Series. *.ini files for loadout, avionics, cockpit, or aircraft data - not included. Skins cover the years 1970-1982 for the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet. The pack did not cover Vietnam War CVW deployments. Pack contains skins and decals. I have included also decals from the upcoming pack for low-viz SLUF. This way it is simpler for me, all decals are in one place, save time, and will not harm anything. Skins sets are made in pairs - two squadrons for CVW for a specific year. I could not find all proper BuNo / Modex but I am considering this as ongoing work in progress, so one day if I will learn something new there will be an update. Also, not all squadrons have CAG markings, sometimes i could not find info on markings...so I left it, again there might be an update if new info appears. I believe that pack after unp[backing is around 2GB. So make some space for SLUF. All skins, new bump maps, specular and decals are made by me. Decals are made by me...but I think I have used one or two decals from MAKOTO pack (VA-192?) report bugs. enjoy. Jarek Hereda. P.S. This is huge, a lot of copy-paste for me, all decals.ini, textur.ini, etc...So if you will find that one decal is not showing up or something...just check first - maybe there is some bug in *.ini file.     So much furore over someone's creative interpretation of what the MiG-31 or R-37's capabilities are. I can only imagine that if Foxhound and Raptor drivers got together for drinks, they'd be like, 'Guys, guys, check this shite out...' Take a look at the [DetectSystem] values under the MiG-31's data.ini and dumb it down. If you like driving the Foxhound (I for one do not) you may want to fiddle around with the [RadarData] values in the avionics.ini as well.

    You are on the right track. Its a bit of confusion/confounding of the [AircraftData] section with the AircraftShortName= This line is only used for in-game text display purposes, not connected to the RWR and The "aircrafts" data ini, e.g. MiG-29M_data.ini which contains the [DetectSystem] section with the important RadarFamilyName= entry And this (example) RadarFamilyName=MiG-29M designation is what goes into the first part of the list in the .lst file, calling the appropriate texture MiG-29M=RWR_MiG-29M.tga If the RadarFamilyName= line is missing, simply add it. Several older mods dont have it or it has been overlooked during upgrade/conversion from SF1 to SF2 This explanation should be more exact

    During the Easter Offensive when the NVA crossed the DMZ and was heading south, they had ZSU-23-4 Shilkas SPAAG and SA-7 Grail shoulder launched SAMs. They had limited quantities, so everything they had was deployed to the front lines to the south. The ZSU-23-4 is what rendered slow movers like the A-1 Skyraider useless. UH-1s would get chewed up, too. ZSU-23-4 wouldn't have helped up north. The US had learned how to almost completely shut down the SA-2 sites with jamming and chaff corridors, so tactical aircraft flew at 15,000 ft, released weapons at 10,000 ft, and were not supposed to go lower than 8,500 ft. The ZU-23 AAA was worthless at those altitudes and it would have been at the limits of the ZSU-23-4. The heavier AAA wasn't particularly effective either as the radar for those was jammed, too. Having a large number of modern resources available, May 10, 1972 looks a little different than it did to me 20 years ago. One interesting aspect is that many pilots who thought they were hit by SAMs and AAA were probably hit by Atolls, including Duke Cunningham. The reason so many MiGs went up in the air on May 10 is because North Vietnam could see new US tactics and equipment were defeating their SAMs and AAA. The MiG-17s got stomped that day because GCI was also being jammed. If the VPAF records are accurate, the MiG-21s more or less traded one-for-one. Of the 3 MiG-21s claimed by Oyster Flight (Major Lodge and then Capt Ritchie), one flew home and the other was a MiG-19. So the US account of MiG-21 losses needs to be lowered by 2. Add two kills for MiG-21s against Navy F-4s and that pretty much evens the score aside from the MiG-17 turkey shoot including 3 by Cunningham. The MiG-19s were potentially their best aircraft for close in dogfighting, yet in all the confusion, they only got Major Lodge and lost one to his Oyster flight. Sneaking up from behind with an Atoll and veering off without ever being seen was the winning tactic, including that day.

    July 2021 =============== Royal Netherlands Air Force NF-5A Freedom Fighter Volume II VERSION 1.0 ------------------------------------------------------------ We are proud to present the NF-5A RNLAF, the Canadair variant of the Northrop F-5a, one of the most enduring American military aircraft designs ever produced during the Cold War period. The Canadair NF-5A was essentially similar to the Canadian AF CF-5 but introduced several modifications, the most important being the more powerful J-85Can-15 engines, Doppler radar navigation system, arrestor hook, two large split air intake doors aft of the main wing trailing edge on both sides of the fuselage to provide extra air to the engines (later also used for F-5E type), and provision to carry the larger 275 gallon under-wing fuel tanks. The aircraft also featured maneuvering leading edge flaps, a strengthened windscreen, and was the only F-5a to operate a two position nose gear. It has been our goal to provide to the simmer a highly detailed model and texture base which preserve the beautiful lines of this aircraft; and to engineer flight model files and a cockpit/gauge file-set that are authentic and add to the immersion of the flying experience within the Strike Fighters 2 series. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: -------------------------- 1. Copy the contents of the "To Mods Folder(s)" to your SF2 Mod directory. Allow directory merging and overwrites, provided the overwrites pertain to "fake pilot" entries, as well as weapons made by ravenclaw_007, which are included in this and many other releases. 2. Add the entries of "ADD_TO_SOUNDLIST.txt" to your SOUNDLIST.INI (located in the "user\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Flight" folder).If one does not exist, then you will need to extract it using the 3rdWire CAT extract utility. You are simply required to substitute the "XXX"s with the next sequential number in the sound file section of the file. NOTE 1: ------------ Both Regular and Higher resolution cockpit textures are included in their own distinct folders in the package. The user may alternate between the two by "commenting out" the relevant line in the NF-5A_COCKPIT.INI [CockpitData] Directory=cockpit <---This is the default //Directory=cockpit_Lo-Fi In order to "activate" the higher resolution textures you would decomment the previous line and comment out the next line, thus: [CockpitData] //Directory=cockpit Directory=cockpit_Lo-Fi <---This is now Low-Res NOTE 2: ------------ Another frame-rate friendly option for those with older hardware is to use the Next level of Detail Model as the primary external model. This simply involves changing the first line in the F-5A_HAF.ini from this.. [LOD001] Filename=NF-5a.LOD to this.. [LOD001] Filename=NF-5a_002.LOD Much effort was made to provide those with lower end systems an alternative lower poly-model to be able to enjoy the F-5a, so please take advantage of this _002.LOD model should you experience frame-rate issues. While not as "rounded" as the Higher poly version, it is nonetheless just as detailed and extensive. NOTE 3: ------------ For those who may find loading times excessive, the .jpg files in the texture folders can be reduced to 50% of their size without sacrificing too much surface detail. The Air to Ground reticle assumes 3 different levels of depression according to the air to ground ordnance selected; bombs, rockets or guns. Due to game limitations, the Air to Air aiming mark is set up for lead computing of a target at 213meters (or 700 feet). We have included another gun sight option, whereby lead is calculated for targets all the way out to 4000ft. This has involved adding a ranging radar (which the NF-5A didn't have) but this solution allows lead computing for targets further out than 700 feet - something the RGS2 was capable of. The radar ranging option is the default but the user can copy the files from the "Standard" subfolder of the Avionics_Alt folder (located in the Aircraft folder) and switch out the ini files.     This model is created from the old freeware AlphaSim B-57B which is a LOT more work than most folks realise. Pit is by myself but not 100% correct. Lots of ini work by Wrench......without Kev's help this model would not of made it to this downloads section. Read the readme and enjoy.

    Republic F-105B Thunderchief (Stand in) Uses the TW F-105D model as a stand in with the following mods: - Removed nose pitot tube and added one to the left outer wing via fakepilot method. - Data.ini edits (weight, thrust, service year etc). - Ranging radar only. - Re-painted and re-panel lined the nose to re-shape it into that of the F-105B. - Moved cannon port. - Canopy can open. - Removed bombay fuel tank. - Cockpit is from the F-84F as the F-105B did not have the 'tape' style instruments or a radar scope like the F-105D - Added 'fighter sweep' mission as if a shooting war had developed during the Cuban Missile Crisis some of the 4th TFW F-105B Squadrons were tasked with an Air Superiority role. - One generic USAF silver skin using stock decals and another for the 335th TFS, 4th TFW that forward deployed to Macoy AFB during the October 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. To Install: - Un-pack and drop into your mods folder. Credits: - TW for the F-105D. - Sundowner for the template. - Zurawski & Gunrunner for the cockpit.

In a nutshell, I downloaded some F-104 mods to check out the 104s (turned into downloading almost ALL of them, two of the best being Wrench's DLC28 F-104 Pack and MigBusters "Thirdwire F-104A/C Pack 1 1.0 " pack. Then added a bunch of other packs that caught my eye. There were lots of conflicts, broken decal links, leaking LODs...etc etc...So I started merging - fixing - reskinning - re-decaling and generally upgrading all the packs into one merged and hopefully easier to install pack. This is my "Best of the breed" F-104 Super Pack and I thought you may like a copy. Again, SF2E and DLC28 are REQUIRED, but other than that, everything else is in this pack to start flying the F-104 Starfighters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This pack includes F-104 skins, new pilots, hanger, loading, loadout, decals and everything else you need to start flying the F-104s...     Well the newer page has been far fewer and inbetween on file uploads. And there tended to be a distinct tendency towards Forgetting credits documentation on the old group. (cough cough DC-10)

    Yeah, I've noticed some Arma 3 models from Pack3D.com (that may be an Arma 2 model) showing up in various screenshots, so I don't touch it, as I own Arma 3 anyway and don't feel like getting involved in some drama either.
