Redrawn Lines, Rivets, etc.. for the P-47N-15 Thunderbolt by RussoUK2004. It can be used for SF1 or SF2. Add your own paint, dirt, details and weathering. This template is a Photoshop .psd file at 2048 pixels. It has redrawn lines, rivets and various bits. It can be reduced for those with low spec computers. It was based on RussoUK2004's template. The only skin with this template is USAF Natural Metal / Aluminum. If you want to make the lines and rivets darker or lighter, this template allows you to do that yourself by adjusting the opacity of the lines, rivets or any layer of this file. To use it you must have a paint program that reads/modifies .psd files. Then you can adjust the specular, glossiness and/or reflection entries in the skin's texture.ini file to get the skin to your liking. I use the poor mans' method of bump mapping. I don't have the needed software or skills to create real bump maps. I use two template layers: one black the other white. The white layer is below the black layer and offset one pixel up or down and one pixel left or right. Then adjust the opacity of each layer to create a 'shadow' effect. When done right it gives the illusion it's 3D. Credit and Thanks to RussoUK2004 for this classic plane. I'm releasing this under the Combat Ace Fair Use Agreement. Use it anyway you wish for personal use. For any other use, please contact me first. If you find any problems with it, please PM me. If you improve it, please PM me a copy. Thanks to all who are helping me learn to skin by direct involvement and/or by inspiration. If I forget or miss anyone who deserves credit for anything I release, I apologize. I have no intent to abuse or misuse anyone's property or claim it as my own. Please contact me to correct any error. Geary

Thanks Svetlin, that's very helpful. I'm taking a closer look at the low speed performance of the stock FM to see if there may be some potential for adjustments. The stock FM makes maximum lift at about 28deg AoA, the same as the AoA limit in the flight manual but the charts show the MiG-21 still making lift up to about 33deg AoA. The 28deg limit was quite conservative giving 5-8deg of protection prior to the stall/departure zone. There were large roll oscillations above 28 deg but the plane maintained pitch stability and American test pilots soon learned they could safely exceed the 28deg limit. Some anecdotal information indicates Soviet pilots were familiar with that capability as well. ThirdWire has the stall buffet starting at about 15deg AoA while the flight manual says the buffet zone starts at 16-18deg AoA range, so there may be some room to adjust the AlphaStall and AlphaMax values while maintaining the same lift slope as the TW original. I'm going to see if I can find some charts that might give a better idea of the instantaneous turn rates and deceleration rates as the stock FM seems a bit limited when doing hard turns at lower airspeeds. By all accounts the MiG-21 had a good instantaneous turn rate and very good pointing ability at lower airspeeds. It might just be a case of increasing the elevator range a bit but will have to find the right chart so I can run some tests. More translations might be required!

With regards to all my "Headhunter" compatriots, allow me to borrow a hallowed phrase...it seems to fit so well here: "You ain't been packed, till you been Wolfpacked"

I still prefer SF2 over any other similar game/sim because of the modding features. So practical to add, expand and fix objects and terrains, it is like a build you own flightsim toolkit with great stock items. Just wish some rudementary helicopter support was added before development stopped. This complete edition price is pretty good value IMHO. But the other individual prices should come down as well, these were actually raised about year ago. What surprises me a little is that, on his forum **, TK advised against merging SF2NA with the other games, and now he does just that. (** forum now gone.)

I agree that no nation is suicidal but some nations make better and more rational choices than others sometimes. Iran could very well push it too far in a miscalculation or they may think not pushing too far is a bigger risk. It's a crap shoot with them.By them i mean the government and religious leaders there. A lot of the Iranian people in a lot of ways have been hostages for decades.

one day I was chasing Q-5...I was already very close, enough to see this... So I've made quick repaint. (very very quick). Due to mapping a few things still look aww... but at least some small improvement. I never had a desire to improve more - as it is usually on my radar screen. here => PLAAF_Silver-Green.rar if someone wants gimp xcf layers. let me know.
