3 points…will have to send in this fire support vehicle! Always wanted to do a proper USAF Fire Dept Support Jeep as I'm especially not aware something like this has been done before, and finally got around to nearly completing it. And don’t worry, she’s a fully optimized low poly creation leveraging just a main 1024x1024 texture map so should be nice and easy on frame rates. As many know I’m a total sucker for details, so even decided to toss in the Fire Helmet and dash details. I still have a few tweaks I need to finish up but think it’s looking good, more to come later...

1 pointChina’s vast fleet is tipping the balance in the Pacific The Chinese navy, which is growing faster than any other major fleet, now controls the seas off its coast. Once dominant, the United States and its allies sail warily in these waters. A former U.S. naval officer says China's advances have caught America napping. Read the full article Sources: Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Sources: Federation of American Scientists (FAS); U.S. Navy; United States Forces Japan; United States Forces Korea; U.S Department of Defense; Marine Regions, Flanders Marine Institute; Natural Earth Source: International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) A fleet of Chinese vessels escorts the aircraft carrier Liaoning, a refurbished former Soviet-era vessel, in the South China Sea in March last year. Planet Labs/Handout via REUTERS Aircraft carriers The U.S. fleet of nuclear powered aircraft carriers are the backbone of America's naval power. China's navy is in the early stages of building and deploying an effective carrier force, with one carrier deployed and a second soon to come. Amphibious assault ships These vessels, in reality smaller aircraft carriers with fighters and helicopters, allow the United States to deploy marines with their heavy equipment and support them with air power. Missile submarines The role of these big, nuclear-powered submarines is to patrol undetected in the ocean depths. They can launch nuclear attacks with their ballistic missiles. The U.S. has converted four of these vessels so they can fire conventionally armed cruise missiles against land targets. Attack submarines These versatile vessels are designed to attack surface ships and other submarines with torpedoes or missiles. The entire U.S. fleet is nuclear powered while most of China's rapidly expanding force is made up of smaller, stealthy diesel-electric submarines. Cruisers China is poised to begin commissioning the first four of its Type 055 cruisers, powerful surface warships that will boost its fleet. The first of these vessels has completed most of its sea trials. Destroyers These are fast and maneuverable warships that perform multiple roles including escorting aircraft carriers, surface warfare, air and missile defense and anti-submarine warfare. China is expanding its fleet. Frigates China has a monopoly on this class of smaller, versatile warship that can be used for escorting other ships, air defense and anti-submarine warfare. Chinese shipyards are launching these ships at a rapid rate. Corvettes China has an expanding fleet of these smaller, missile-armed warships designed for operations closer to the mainland coast. The U.S. Navy's fleet of littoral combat ships is designed to perform a similar role. Fast attack craft These small, fast vessels are each armed with multiple potent anti-ship missiles. They are designed to operate in coastal waters where they could swarm adversaries and launch waves of missiles.

1 pointSeeing as how this community has worldwide membership, which brings various perspectives to the table, I was curious about our reading habits. So I decided to ask: What's the best 3 books/stories/novels/novellas, that you have ever read? There aren't any restrictions on the genre, with the exception of any volume that promotes hate speech or calls to incite insurrection/anarchy and/or internecine violence. No synopsis of them are needed, as the title and author will give anyone interested enough information to look it up for themselves. With SO much material available from the dawn of recorded history until now, it will require you to think long and hard about everything you've ever read to come up with so few. Other than that, this should be an interesting exercise at the end of the year. Here are mine: (1) Into The Out Of - Alan Dean Foster (2) The Last Defender Of Camelot - Roger Zelazny (3) Winged Escort - Douglas Reeman

1 pointNot an "Off-topic" but the first time I saw this Poland map I immediately think on a Blitzkrieg 1939 scenario.

1 pointTo be honest, the river is to narrow. The Weichsel/Visla is close to the Baltic a big river. But i think it is not a problem. Use the standard tile, its good enough.
-
1 pointIt is the correct way to follow the height path of the river. You can fix the heigh datas if they are wrong with TDF editor. The path of the river Weichsel/Wisla/Visla/Vistula/ Ви́сла is correct for the lower reaches of the river (without the Weichseldelta). But in the area you need for a soviet polish scenario the river is not tiled. The red line show the river as you placed it on the map. The green lines are rivers, which are neccessary to be placed. The green "circle" is the position of Warsaw, the polish capital, which is indispensable. The yellow lines are rivers which would be "nice to have" but not really ne ccessary. As you see, the area, where the battle called " The miracle on the Vistula" was fought is not tiled yet.

1 pointNice topic!! As for the aircrafts, some still missing like Ansaldo A.1 Ballila and Breguet XIV for example. The Breguet I have it´s prety much old. Good job!

1 pointHere is the very early phase terrain which i had called Ostpreussen (East Prussia). It has no airfields, no populated target areas, no rivers, no roads. The tiling is rudimentary. Only 104 towns are placed as simple squares on the map. It need a lot of work to finish it. But if someone want to do the job, feel free to do it. Only one thing: Give me proper credit for the basic files and Jan Tuma for the tileset, which is included in the package. Ostpreussen.7z

1 pointA stimulating topic gents' - we certainly have the necessary aircraft in FE/FE2 for such a scenario. One that comes to mind in particular is the 160/165hp engined-up variant of the Nieup. 24/25/27 series - available in one of the big aircraft update packs for Geezer's Nieups. (page 17 or 18 of the new aircraft thread). It's a good Nieup. for early 1920s scenarios - low 200s kph top speed and a better climb rate than for the standard issue Nieup. 24 and 27. But as Gepard says, I don't think there is a map available in FE/FE2 for such scenarios...maybe worth checking out the SF2 maps? (perhaps one of those could be imported into FE/FE2). Von S

1 pointStill wondering if a Modder could create some ZELL barges, that would function as pre-placed, unpowered Aircraft Carriers. A "What If" expansion of real world experiments with Zero Length Launch ramps. Search "ZELL" to see my 2017 crude adaptation of these launchers. FIXED the link for you: It would be so cool to use these in early and mid-Cold War missions!
