I always start on the runway and use the Alt+T x2/x4/x8 features to get around quicker rather than "light speed". However, if I remember correctly, the square icon (the one that's always present before the triangle one) on the Mission Editor and Mission Planning maps decide where you'll start / come out of light speed - if you move that further back from the action then that should solve your issue.

are they older effects inis, like for, and imported from, FE1? If so, check inside and see if they have the proper statements for DX10. There should be statements, probably near the bottom, that would have ****.fx. The effects shaders and stuff. just thinking out loud

I recommend tinkering with the following three entries for "ExhaustEmitterName" in the data inis of aircraft, installed in FE2: CleanExhaustEmitter (misleading name since this is the "dirtiest" emitter in FE2, gives a wide, thin stretch of greyish smoke behind the aircraft) InlineExhaustEmitter (usually gives a thin, white stream of smoke, as if from an exhaust stack, especially good for inline engines and a favorite of Geezer's if I remember correctly) RotaryExhaustEmitter (basically gives no exhaust effect) (If I can dig up my old, long post for correct order of install effects in FE2...I will re-link it here.) EDIT: Here is the link (to an old post) that suggests a good order for effects installation in FE2 - if certain effects are missing, etc. (https://combatace.com/forums/topic/88700-fe2-bad-framerates/?tab=comments#comment-716531). I'm working on updating the AIM-9 (and other types) in the game. Started already back in 2018. First release will be using stock 3d, a 2nd release with (hopefully) as many accurate 3d as possible later on. This update/mod will change the way the player has to employ the missile. Accurate aiming (pulling the sight/aiming mark/reticle directly on the target) is required to get a seeker lock-on. Until now, it is easy to get a lock-on because the missile seekers are set up by default to act as a "super-seeker", covering the full seeker gimbal angles. With that removed, its more fun/challenging to fight with IR missiles and it also makes more sense to actually use the radar for targeting. That works (seeker slaved to radar) only with few AIM-9 types, the 9L, 9M, 9P-5, 9JULI and the 9X. The AIM-4D also has this function and the French Magic 2. To be continued..

AGM-158C LRASM by @JosefK This is a data + skin mod of the AGM-158 for the C model, the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile or LRASM. All based on @FastCargo's AGM-158 JASSM for the anti-ship missile variant. It's worth noting has a service start year of 2018 and is assumed to stop serving in 2050. Also the LRASM has a range of over 600 km/300 nm. In Real-Life/RL, the LRASM has only been integrated with the B-1B and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet but the intention is to make her work with the F-35 and vertically launch from ships. US Navy (USN) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) only customers so far, but Sweden, Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada and Japan are likely customers also. To read more, go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-158C_LRASM Feel free to report any bugs. This is my first serious weapons mod effort.

SF2 Forest Bowl Terrain, V.2 4/5/2020 - For SF2, Any & All (Full-4/5 Merged, + Expansion Packs Reccomended) This is a (mostly) complete revamp of "The Forest Bowl" terrain that was included in the (uncompleted) SF2 Civil/Firefighter Mod. It has been completely retargeted to make it a useful 'combat' terrain. All new movement inis, targets, types, etc. Also, now all 4 seasons are working. This terrain takes place in the fictional world of the Alliance vs the Global Sedition. The map is fully functional for ALL mission types with year spans from the 1940s through the far future (well, at least 2050) ie: There are NO mission type or time limitations. Many and Lots (tm) of new terrain objects have been added, all cities are now valid targets. Shipping, Ground Attack and Armed Recon missions have a good number of routes for both sides to utlize. As is my habit, the terrain is covered with Easter Eggs; you shouldn't have any problems finding them. In short, the terrain is a myth-mash. You may experience longer than normal loading times due to the number of terrain objects and seasonal tiles. As is reccomended, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you -read- the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Good Hunting! The VKK-6 suit was widely used, but only for flight at high altitutes. Lets say 10.000 m plus. For combat missions close to the earth up to medium altitutes the PPK-1 was worn.

I continue to experiment with SF2 VR and with the framerate locked at 80 fps, it is an amazing experience. SF2 is still the only semi-modern sim (as opposed to Jane's Fighters Anthology and Jane's USAF, which are much older and inferior to SF2 in most respects) where I can fly the F-4 in combat against excellent AI MiG opponents in historical environments like Vietnam and Israel. The FSX/P3d F-4s available from Milviz (F-4E/J/S) and Simworks Studios (F-4B/N) are a joy to fly, but VR runs like crap in P3d and the environment doesn't have AI opponents that you can dogfight. If you like clubbing baby seals, shooting down Cessnas and airliners works great in FSX/P3d with TacPack, but it isn't a true combat flight sim experience. SF2's terrains are obsolete compared to DCS World, even with the texture upgrades, but they are still the only way to fly decent combat missions over Vietnam and Israel in a historical context. The mix of SF2 and VR is a very good experience. I recommend it to anyone who owns both the SF2 series and has VR.

Yep, I do remember the test with the Magic. I have also changed/updated the warhead explosive mass for my mod. Most stock missiles have the complete warhead weight set for the explosive mass. The real amount is much less. Ive gone one step further. Ive converted the several different explosive types to their TNT equivalent. The results are between 4.9 kg and 6.2 kg explosive mass for the AIM-9's. Combined with the increased fuzing distance, the results are more damaged targets and less immediate fiery explosions.

Modders and users are advised to tweak their _userlist.ini files and _data.ini files for aircraft and ships, to make use of the new naval aviation services added by this mod. >Credits (in no particular order): -Capitaine Vengeur, for his Modern Russian Federation Medals and Modern Ukrainian Medals packs. -Charles, for his Medals Pack v2.0 addon for SF1, which I have improved and updated to SF2 standards. -mue, for sharing info about the functionality of the alias.lst file. -paulopanz, for creating decals for Rwanda and Niger, which I have further tweaked. -eburger68, for few decals I borrowed from his huge campaign mods. I included the original readme files from the mentioned mods, where available, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not. >Disclaimer: This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages. This mod may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.
