    1. F-4D Phantom II in ANG Service.

This is a skin/decal set for Phabulous Phantom.
Basic modding skills are required to run this mod.  (copy/paste, mod folder structure etc.)
Pack contains skins and decals representing all F-4D users amid Air National Guard units. Skins are made for stock F-4D_78. F-4D was used between 1977 -1990 in ANG and these skins are fitting in 13 years of service.
Mostly all serial numbers are correct for specific dates and units. If you will find some errors please feel free to send correction notes.
No ini files for this as this is only skin sets. Just simply add skin folders to your favorite F-4D_78. Or create a new, specific one for ANG use.
You will find that some aircraft wear kill marks as in real life. If you want to have your own kill marks you have to modify decal.ini file.
To fully enjoy this skin set you need to have ThirdWire F-4D_78.

All skins are done in 2048x2048 based on Sundowners and Ravenclaw's work.
Brand new Bump files in 2048x2048.
      All decals made by me.
      Enjoy.
      Regards.

    2. Su-21S/P "Flagpole"

When the Su-21S, codenamed "Flagpole" by NATO, appeared in 1978, it surprised the West which initially thought the plane to be just another failed Flagon update experiment or a testbed for systems of the recently identified Ram-L or Ram-K aircrafts.
It turned out to be a long endurance PVO interceptor, possibly meant as an interim or low-cost alternative to these new designs, using a clearly Flagon inspired but brand-new airframe and, according to some intelligence, reusing existing systems to mitigate development risk.
The aircraft is purported to use a single uprated R-35 derived from the one already used in PVO Floggers for propulsion, also borrowing the MiG-23P's radar, albeit with a larger antenna and more powerful emitter and using R-24 and R-60 missiles (up to 4 of each for a total of 8). It has been seen using up to 3 large drop tanks to accomplish its goal of long endurance patrol in the defence of the central and eastern regions of the USSR. Going against the trend of recent PVO-only interceptors, the Su-21 has 2 internal guns, sources suggesting these to be weirdly old-fashioned NR-30 with a hundred rounds each, as well as what seems to be decoy launchers.
This surprisingly elegant design was joined in 1980 by a dual-seat version, initially thought to be a trainer, but proving to be another interceptor, the Su-21P. While the single-seater Su-21S became a not too uncommon sight on the Soviet Western frontier, the Su-21P was almost absent, being more common on the other borders, the exact operationnal reason remains unclear as these planes seem to be otherwise identical.
Recent sightings suggest that the plane might not be a PVO exclusive as what are thought to be Su-21s were spotted in AV-MF colours, but not enough is known at present.

      NOTEWORTHY OBSERVATIONS
      - As it was started as an AI only asset for my own use, I kept the original F-15 cockpit.
      - Likewise, as an AI only asset for my own use, I haven't taken the time to produce hangar and loading pics.
      - I did the minimal amount of modification to the INI.
      - All skins can be used on both variants if you want to switch things around.
      - I have included AV-MF inspired skins in the Su-21P folder, for those that might be interested (waves at Stratos), they should be considered a not so hidden easter egg.
      - PSD templates specific to this Soviet version should be released alongside.
      - Read the damn READ ME for install.
      CREDITS
Everyone at Cocas Aircraft Factory for their work on the plane, and especially Cocas for listening to my whin... errrr... suggestions and always nicely doing what I was pestering him to do (the guy is just too nice for his own good) and to Nyghtfall for giving us the templates without which I probably wouldn't have bothered to do something in a releasable form.
      AmokFlo for the ejection seats.
The Trooper for the pilot reskin.
(I believe) PauloPanz for the Dark Blue Soviet numbers decals.
      (I believe) Lindr2 for the R-24 and R-60.
Any error or omission is just that, feel free to correct me if I forgot or misattributed anything, everything should be under the CA Fair Use umbrella unless I messed up.
      Have fun and good flight

    3. Su-21 Flagpole Templates

Templates for the Sukhoi Su-21 "Flagpole" for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
These templates are Photoshop versions derived from my own Paint.NET files, themselves based on Nyghtfall's original work.
      Layers starting with :
NM are for generating the Normal Map
SM are for generating the Specular Map
DM Mask are masks for generating various camo patters for the Diffuse Map
DM are for generating the Diffuse Map
I hope everything is clearly labelled, I have flattened existing skins to conserve space and reduce the number of layers, but the presence of masks and the palette should help if required.

    4. Aircraft Carrier "Kuznetsov" ex Kremlin Class

Aircraft Carrier "Kuznetsov" ex Kremlin Class
      *****************************************************
This mod is made for SF2.
      ----------------------------------------------------------
      I. History
Since the 50th the Soviet Navy tried to get aircraft carriers. But the political leadership denied all attempts to build such vessels. So the Admirality tried to get carriers through the back door. They declared such ships would be neccessary to hunt down american submarines. So the big ASW ships Moskva and Leningrad were built. But the design was terrible. Thatswhy the project 1143 was developed, better known as Kiev class.
The Kiev class was to small to operate conventional fix wing jets. So the ships were equipped with VTOL planes, the Yak-38. But this plane was no match for american or west european carrierbased planes. Thatswhy the flightdeck of project 1143.4 was made longer. The ship was named Baku. It was built for the supersonic Yak-41. A plan-B was to use the MiG-29K in the air group of the Baku.
The next step was to make the project 1143 ships bigger and longer. 1143.5 was launched in 1982. First named as Riga, then Breshnev, then Tblissi and in 1990 renamed into Kuznetsov.
When the USSR broke into parts the Kuznetsov was transfered to the russian North Fleet.
The sister ship 1143.6, Riga was renamed in 1990 into Varjag (Viking). It was not operational when it was was given to the Ukraine. The Ukraine had not had enough money to finish the ship. Thatswhy it was sold to China. China finished the ship, modified it and named it Liaonang.

    6. [Fictional] MiG-17PF 'Fuerza Aérea Argentina'

MiG-17PF 'Fuerza Aérea Argentina' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock MiG-17PF to give a fictional export version for the Fuerza Aérea Argentina with markings for Grupo 6 De Caza.

      BACKSTORY
The Argentinian elections of 1958 saw Arturo Frondizi become President and with some support from Peron's followers to introduced various policies to encourage investment and make the country self-sufficient in energy and industry. One major issue was Argentina's chronic trade deficit and in early 1960 Frondizi cancelled the order for 28 refurbished F-86F Sabres on cost grounds and announced the procurement of 36 MiG-17PF interceptors from the Soviet Union for an undisclosed sum "to be funded solely by beef exports". Entering service with Grupo 6 De Caza in 1961 and armed with the indigenous 'Espada' radar-guided air-to-air missile the MiG-17PF's served in frontline service until 1979 and thus played no part in the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas conflict but did remain on reserve status until 1983.

      INSTRUCTIONS
      1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the MiG-17PF_FAA folder into your Aircraft folder.
      2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the MiG-17PF_FAA folder into your Decals folder.
      3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the TANK400_MIG17_FAA folder into your Weapons folder.

    12. FAA Skyrays

It is little-known history* that in the late 1950s, their Lordships of the Admiralty recognised that the Supermarine Scimitar was an unmitigated failure. As an American observer noted at the time, only the British could build a jet fighter with 22,000lbs thrust, that still remained stubbornly subsonic.
Not only was its performance rather disappointing (British understatement?), the Scimitar was extremely unreliable. At one point it required 1000 maintenance hours per flying hour, and over 50% of the Scimitar fleet was lost in accidents. Its best contribution to the Fleet, was as a Ground Instructional Airframe (which is where the author first saw one, at RNAS Arbroath in the late 1960s).
In an act of some desperation, therefore, in 1958 the Admiralty cancelled the remaining 50% of Scimitar production, and instead discreetly obtained 40 F4D-1 Skyrays from US Navy stocks.
Capt Eric (“Winkle”) Brown was highly influential in this decision. A navy test pilot with the world record for carrier take-offs and landings (2,407 and 2,271 respectively), and an objectively strong advocate of American naval ac designs, his advice on procuring the Skyray was decisive. (Besides, he was a Scotsman. From the right side of the country)(ie the East Coast - did I mention that I'm from Arbroath?).
Modified to carry the British Firestreak IR missile, and also to perform the light strike/attack role, the F4D-1 thus entered RN service as the Skyray F1.
These ac proved to be particularly useful on the smaller British carriers, Victorious, Centaur and Hermes. For example, in Hermes, the Skyray allowed 892 Sqn to deploy a full 12-ac sqn, instead of the originally-mooted 8-ac Sea Vixen "sqn-lite". This had the serendipitious additional social advantage of eliminating all the Sea Vixen coal-hole observers from the Wardroom.
Later in their career, 20 RN Skyrays were modified to FAW2 standard. This entailed replacing the original AN/APQ-50A radar with a lightweight version of the Lightning's AI23 "Airpass" radar, installing compatibility for both the Red Top all-aspect IR missile and the US Bullpup AGM, and replacing the original 4 x Colt 20mm cannon with a harder-hitting package of 4 x ADEN 30mm cannon (albeit with halved ammunition loads).
Deployed in HMS Victorious in 1965 during the Malaysian Confrontation, one of these Skyray FAW2’s shared with an RAF Javelin in the double kill of 2 Indonesian C-130B’s, caught in the act of attempting to infiltrate Indonesion paratroopers into Borneo.
The RN’s Skyrays were finally retired with the decommissioning of HMS Eagle in 1972. Their last service was to familiarise a generation of FAA pilots with USN ac types, in preparation for the introduction of the superlative F-4K Phantom (another Winkle Brown protogé).

*Alternative history. The reader is encouraged to decipher what is fact, and what is fiction above. For it is not all the latter..  :)

Installation: the usual, simply download and unzip the "Objects" folder, and drop it into your SF2 mod directory of preference. Always always always backup your original stuff before trying out new mods like this.
Credits: this mod is based on the SF2 Skyray 1.1 mod, which I think is the work of Julhelm and NeverEnough. Regret not sure to whom credit is due for the Firestreak, Red Top and Bullpup missiles, and the SNEB Can, so if I missed you out, sorry, but I tip my hat to you!
Legal Stuff: all the usual disclaimers, ie use at own risk, always always always backup your original stuff before trying out new mods like this (bears repeating). Plus this mod is consistent with both Queen's Regulations for the Royal Navy, and the Official Secrets Act.
      Cheers, Tally-Ho etc

    16. [Fictional] Dassault Mirage 5FM 'Morocco'

Dassault Mirage 5FM for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock Dassault Mirage 5F to give a fictional export version for the Royal Moroccan Air Force (Force Aérienne Royale Marocaine) in a Desert camo scheme with markings for Escadre de Chasse "Tigre".

      BACKSTORY
The Mirage 5 was developed from a request made by the Israeli Air Force in 1964 for a simpler 'clear weather' version of the Mirage 3E tailored mainly for the ground-attack role with avionics reduced and repositioned, more fuel for attack missions and two additional ventral stores pylons located towards the rear fuselage. In September 1966 Israel became the launch customer for this important new line of the Mirage family when they placed an order for 50 Mirage 5J's. However, rising tensions between Israel and their neighbouring Arab states during the early summer of 1967 allied to General de Gaulle's increasingly pro-Arab stance led to a French arms embargo to Israel announced on June 3rd, 1967 just two days before the Six-Day war despite Israel having paid for the aircraft in full.
By this time, the prototype Mirage 5 had flown and production was in full swing with the now embargoed Mirage 5J's beginning to stockpile at Bordeaux-Mérignac. But following the Mirage's dazzling combat record in the hands of Israeli pilots during the Six-Day war the air forces of many nations knocked on Dassault's door and one such nation was Morocco (formerly a French protectorate) who wanted the Mirage 5J's to supplement their recently acquired but decidedly lukewarm Northrop F-5A's. General de Gaulle readily agreed to this sale and Dassault made some minor modifications to the 5J's to export them as Mirage 5FM's to the Royal Moroccan Air Force in late 1968 with initial deliveries going to Escadre de Chasse "Tigre" based at Meknes, Northern Morocco.

      INSTRUCTIONS
      1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Mirage5FM folder into your Aircraft folder.
      2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Mirage5FM folder into your Decals folder.
      That's it!

    22. Third Wire MiG-23 fighters made flyable & updated for SF2

Third Wire MiG-23 fighters made flyable & updated for SF2

      MiG-23M, MiG-23M (85), MiG-23MF, MiG-23ML, MiG-23MLA, MiG-23MLD, MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War), MiG-23MLDe, MiG-23P, MiG-23P (82), MiG-23MS

This is a follow on from my "Third Wire MiG-23MLD updated & flyable for SF2" mod and completely supersedes it.

      - All are flyable with a modified version of Stary's MLD cockpit/ avionics with corrections by Crusader and myself. There are slightly different cockpits/ gunsights depending on the model of aircraft.
      - Wing spoilers are now working as they were always there just not activated. Thanks again Crusader!
      - Opening Canopy.
      - KM-1 Ejection seats added. Grey on most but black for Mig-23MLDe, MiG-23P and MiG-23P (82).
      - Loadouts enhanced and corrected. Some Afghanistan specific ones added.  Use of Kh-25M air-to-surface missile and datalink pod added.
      - Missile positions corrected, especially for the AA-8.
      - Single missile rail for the fuselage AA-8.
      - Improved/ corrected FM.
      - Improved engine sound and afterburner effect.
      - All Mig-23 have an ACM/ boresight radar mode but it is set straight ahead along the gunsight and does not move/ scan. The MLD and P (82) have an ACM/ boresight mode that scans vertically like the F-16 or F-15 etc.
      - MLD, MLDe and P (82) have KDS-23 countermeasure dispenser installed in the centreline drop tank pylon. This is a 12 shot chaff/ flare countermeasure dispenser that could be used once the drop tank had been jettisoned.
      - MLD Leading edge flaps automatically deploy during maneuvering as they did on the MLD with the type 3 wing.
      - MLD Primary and secondary roles expanded to reflect the evolution of the MLD into a more multi role fighter platform.
      - Removed ECM jammer from MLD.
      - Radar data and performance is corrected from the S-23MLA radar to the S-23MLA-II radar for the MLD.
      - Most if not all the exported and Warsaw pack ML aircraft were actually MLA models, this is an error in most publications, model kits and flight sims alike and has only been corrected in recent publications. The ML was operated by the Soviet airforce and by the time the export models were being built the production line had switched to the MLA. This is now corrected in the game.
All skins updated with cockpit textures and various other minor details.
      - Grey undersides on Soviet Camouflage skins changed from grey to blue/ grey.  Additional dark green added in to the Soviet camouflage of later model MiG-23s. Lots of other texture corrections done.
      - Skins added for Iraqi, Syria (Late), Polish camouflage, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Soviet desert (in Afghanistan) and Soviet Afghanistan veterans.
      - Corrections to decal size and/ or positions on various skins.
      - Additional MiG-23MLDe variant created. This is the Syrian and Libian specific export model of the MLD which did not have the IFF or aerodynamic enhancements (vortex generators) of the Soviet MLD and had a slightly downgraded radar. Syrian made countermeasure dispensers installed on either side of the tail fin.
      - Additional MiG-23P (82) variant created. This is the Soviet P model that was upgraded to the same standard as the MLD but without the aerodynamic enhancements.
      - Additional MiG-23M (85) variant created. This is a few squadrons of the Soviet M model that had its IFF upgraded some time between 1978 and the early 90's (Same nose IFF antenna as the MLD and P (82).
      - Additional MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War) variant created. This is the Soviet MLD but reflects the specific loadouts, modifications, countermeasures and markings of the MLD models that served in the Soviet Afgan war.
      - Updated weapons from the RSSW 099 mod.

      To Install:

    23. CAF Condor F.1

Panavia Condor F.1 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 On July 25th 1968 a memorandum of understanding was signed by Belgium, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK and West Germany expressing their interest and intent on producing a multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA) with a tentative in-service date of 1975. Belgium dropped out very early and before the end of the year Canada had also pulled out with Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau claiming that they simply could not afford it but this was, perhaps, a convenient excuse to hide behind whilst Trudeau's liberal goverment re-shaped the entire Canadian armed forces. For a short while the remaining four nations ploughed on but the Dutch became increasingly concerned as their prime mission was for an air superiority fighter and even though they had cranked in severe requirements for long radius of action and maximum performance in air combat at all altitudes they then complained when the resultant design became larger and therefore more expensive. Once the Dutch had left the MRCA project the remaining three nations formed a Joint Working Group firming up on requirements, removing excessive demands and establishing a technically viable baseline solution to their MRCA requirement. Fashionably, this baseline solution was a swing-wing design with afterburing turbofan engines. With all three Governments on board the project was to be delivered by a co-ordinating organisation called NAMMO (NATO MRCA Management Organisation) employing three newly created international contractor companies; Panavia Aircraft GmbH (airframe), Turbo-Union Ltd (engines) and Avionica Systems Engineering GmbH (avionics) that would combine to produce the Panavia Tornado. Whilst the RAF were fully behind the swing-wing MRCA design for their all-weather interdiction and strike requirements they expressed deep concern over it's suitability to meet their RAF Air Staff Requirement 395 which called for a long-range interceptor to replace the Lightning and Phantom. Influenced by U.S. studies on future air superiority fighter aircraft, and especially by John Boyd's energy–maneuverability theory, the RAF demanded an aircraft with extra power and maneuverability compared to the proposed Tornado ADV. Whilst they conceded that the Tornado ADV might be acceptable as a long-range interceptor it would be totally outclassed as a 'central front' fighter by the expected threats of the next generation of Soviet fighter aircraft (in particular, and before it's limitations became known, the MiG-25 was especially feared). When the UK Government argued that another combat aircraft could not be considered on cost grounds the RAF reminded them that the proposed Tornado ADV was already morphing into a different aircraft with a longer forward fuselage to accommodate semi-recessed Sparrow/Skyflash missiles, more powerful engines to address the low power to weight ratio and a totally different avionics package. Panavia were already ahead of the curve with several design studies on various advanced air superiority fighter aircraft with the most promising being 'Projekt Condor' from the Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) design team at Ottobrun for a single-seat air superiority fighter powered by a single large afterburning turbofan engine (the RB.250 - itself a paper project by Turbo-Union but based on a scaled-up Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan). Preliminary technical studies demonstrated that Specific Excess Power and manoueverability were off the chart when compared to all current fighter aircraft and a parallel study on the market for such an aircraft in the 1975 to 1990 period revealed a potential market for 600 aircraft in Western Europe and the Middle East alone. Unexpected support for Projekt Condor came from the Italian Government who sought a follow-on fighter aircraft to replace the Aeritalia F-104S on the Turin production line. In the UK, with unemployment at its highest level since 1940, the incoming Conservative Government led by Edward Heath supported the project as one of a raft measures to boost the UK economy. By 1971 all three Governments (Italy, the UK and West Germany) were in agreement and the Panavia Condor programme was allowed to proceed with an initial order for 10 Condor prototype and development aircraft and 465 production aircraft (West Germany 200, UK 165 and Italy 100) to be assembled on final production lines in each country but with workload shared out with the United Kingdom and West Germany each having a 40% share of the workload with the remaining 20% going to Italy. With inflation running rampant in Western Europe the Condor programme was under the strictest financial scrutiny during the early 1970's but luckily escaped the axe on at least two occassions. Despite the Condor programme being a political football (and seemingly a permanent fixture in the news headlines) development moved swiftly aided by the existing collaborative structures within Panavia recently created for the Tornado programme. With a new airframe and a new engine Panavia were keen to avoid also introducing a completely new avionics package so sensibly opted for an off-the-shelf purchase of the Hughes APG-63 multimode radar system but designed to incorporate a software programmable signal processor allowing the system to be modified to accommodate new modes and weapons through software reprogramming rather than by a more costly and disruptive hardware retrofit. The first prototype (PC-01) was structurally complete by early April 1974 and was trucked from Ottobrun to the Hannover Air Show where it was displayed in the static park attracting considerable interest from Saudi Arabian and Omani officials. DA-01 was then taken to Manching to be mated with the Turbo-Union RB.250 engine for ground-testing and taxying trials that continued during the summer months before MBB's chief test pilot, Nils Meister, took to the air on August 15th 1974. A few short weeks later he dazzled the crowds at the 1974 Farnborough Air Show demonstrating the Condor's remarkable manoueverability. The fleet of development aircraft began to build up during 1975 with the only real mishap occuring when DA-06 (whose main task was armament development) was mysteriously lost over the Irish Sea. Entering service with No.23 Squadron of the Royal Air Force on April 1st, 1978 the Condor F.1 eventually served with seven squadrons in the UK and another two in RAF Germany. Primary armament was the Skyflash semi-active radar homing air-to-air missile and the AIM-9L 'all-aspect' version of the Sidewinder infra-red air-to-air missile. In addition, the Condor was fitted with two internal Mauser BK-27 cannon (developed for the Panavia Tornado) each with 250 rounds. INSTRUCTIONS 1.
