3 pointsRight now I'm thinking about which project to start next. I have 4 in mind. 1) Poland 2) Borderwar between China and Vietnam in 1979 3) version of Battle of Britain terrain for the 1960th or 70th 4) Diego Garcia Poland is an area with a lot of possible scenarios. World War 2 in 1939 and 1945, a possible Warsaw Pact invasion in 1981, a modern Suwalki Gap scenario, or a hypotetical what if the former german province Ostpreussen would have become the homestate of the jews: Israel in Central Europe. China and Vietnam Borderwar is an interesting scenario, because both sides have similar planes and weapons, so that only the skill of the player decides of an outcome of an air battle. I like the idea very much. "Modern" Battle of Britain terrain has two major possible scenarios. One: The Soviets have taken control over France and UK is in the same situation as 1940, but with other enemy. Two: A conflict between the European Community and UK, a scenario with its own flair, because blue vs blue and to be honest true friends the Brits and the French never were. Diego Garcia. Its an other naval map with one base on an island and carrier operations.

2 pointsVery early stage of China vs Vietnam terrain. At the moment i use Green Hell 2 tileset. And i'm not really happy with it. Green Hell 3.5 i dont get to run. There the _data.ini file is missing, so that i get strange TOD trees. It are only the first steps on a long, long way. I have also played a little bit with the files for a modern Battle of Britain terrain in the timeframe of the 1960th or 70th. It is faster to make, because the majority of the terrain, the tiling, setting of rivers and roads etc is already done. So only the target areas must reworked. I will sleep over the ideas, before i decide which terrain becomes the first in the development line. BTW, today i got an other idea of a terrain. What if the Argentinians after the conquest of the Falklands would have sent their Carrier Group to Ascencion Island, the british base mid in the Atlantic Ocean on the shores of Angola? This base would become an important supply base for the british Falkland campaign. If the Argentinians would have destroyed the RAF base at Ascencion island, the Brits would have had big troubles. Screenshot vietnamese F-5E vs chinese J-7I The insignias are very similar. Hard to tell who is who.

2 pointsFirst Post This is the tale of a not-so-young Bulgarian man, Lyuben Anastas Mladenov. Born in the now far 1881 in Radomir, Bulgaria, he moved to Dresden at the age of 3. As the war was becomeing clearer and clearer, in 1914, he believed that he'd move back to the then neutral Bulgaria, to go back to his roots and the rest of his large family. Just a few months prior to his departure, though, something awakened in him. He had spent all of his life, until then, as a humble shoemaker. He wanted to give a twist to his life, he wanted adventure, adrenaline. Given his already mature age (33) he wasn't striving to join the army, so he opted to get his life onto the path of that new trend they called aviation: he was going to become a pilot. He enlisted in early 1914 and finished his training at the beginning of 1915. Enlisted with the rank of Feldwebel, he recieved a letter a couple of months later: he was to report at his nearest aerodrome. He was going to be deployed at the front, alongside Feldflieger-Abteilung 32.

Ethiopia, African Horn (1977-1990) Terrain December 13th, 2021 (1st Release) by Menrva >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged I am proud to present a brand new terrain made from scratch! Initially proposed in private by tiopilotos, I later decided to create it in order to offer an accurate playground for different conflicts never recreated in Strike Fighters. The terrain completely covers Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti, and a great portion of Somalia and Yemen. The tileset, based on JSF_Aggie's Desert repaint and Centurion-1's Desert 4 add-on, has been greatly expanded with necessary transition tiles. Expect long and very accurate river courses and all major lakes, the reddish deserts of the Horn of Africa and the green highlands of Ethiopia. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and airstrips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range. This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look. The terrain spans from July 13, 1977 (the beginning of the Ogaden War) to May 21, 1990 (the day before the unification of Yemen). This terrain is adapt for historical scenarios such as the Ogaden War and the Second Yemenite War of 1979 between North Yemen and South Yemen. Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops; if your mod folder contains American, British and French aircraft carriers, sometimes you'll see fleets being generated in single missions. Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed ones from Wrench's old Eritrea/Ethiopia terrain release. >Credits (in no particular order): -Wrench, for working on Wingwiner's original Eritrea terrain, producing new target area layouts. -swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs. -gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too. -mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding. -luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting! -JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included, and for the hi-res desert tileset. -Centurion-1, for expanding JSF_Aggie's tileset with more variety for the Desert4 terrain by Piecemeal. -tiopilotos, for his continuous support in all my terrain modding efforts. Thank you very much! -Stary, for old .TOD files which add trees and buildings on some tiles of this terrain. -Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine! -krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much! -comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included. Although scratch-made, the terrain makes use of most objects and target layouts from Wrench's Eritrea terrain; because of this, I included the ReadMe file from that package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not. >Disclaimer: This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages. Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE. This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions. -

1 pointI thought many of you would enjoy this multi part series. Part 2 and 3 have sound issues 1-4 and 5 were fine. It was still worth the watch just turn the sound off. CVWR-30 was home to some of the most highly experienced pilots in the US Navy.

1 pointWhichever one Gepard will choose in the end, I will always be grateful. Many end-users underestimate the amount of work that is required to create a quality terrain addon. As a terrain modder myself, I know of all the time and efforts required to make one with detail, especially from scratch. It's no easy feat, it's a very long process that can be easily exhausting sometimes. If I'd have to choose, I'd say Diego Garcia. It would be a very original addition, with a tileset made entirely from satellite imagery, much like the Midway Atoll terrain I was working on. That kind of texture work pays off in the terrain engine of Strike Fighters. I wish all modders of CombatACE a productive and happy 2022!

1 pointI like the Vietnam/China border war. It would be interesting to see modern jets or old ones fighting. Diego Garcia would be really limited with one airbase and so on. You would be limited to striking one airbase, and just something to make like a Range map really in my opinion.
-
1 pointSome more work done but not a lot but it's coming along nicely. The texture will be fixed later on. ;)

Socotra 1.0 ***************************************************** This terrain is written for SF2NA and SF2 Israel. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I. Short description: Socotra is a relativly big island on the shores of the Horn of Africa. It belongs to Yemen. Socotra is an ideal position to control all shipping lines between the Mediterranian Sea and the Indian Ocean. The power who controls Socotra can easily block the oil support from the Gulf to Western Europe. Socotra is the cork in the bottle neck, like Djibouti, the Suez Canal or Gibraltar. From mid 1960th to the fall of the Soviet Union, the soviets had an airbase on Socotra. In the 1980th on the base one regiment (squadron) of Su-24 bombers was active on Socotra. This terrain is made for a scenario that the Americans must defeat the soviet forces on Socotra island. They had to operate from carrier positions in the Gulf of Aden. For all guys who love to fly Air Force planes i made a temporary american airfield in Somalia. In the timeframe, where the soviets have no own carriers the single missions are focused on Socotra island. When the soviets field carriers the terrain is mostly focused on carrier vs carrier battles. So, if you prefer carrier vs ground battles you must choose missions before 1976. After that date you will have to fight Kiev carrier battle groups. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. INSTALLATION: To run this terrain you need SF2NorthAtlantic and SF2 Israel or SF2 Europe. Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2XXXX Thats it. If you have SF2Israel installed you must do nothing more. If you miss SF2I and have SF2Europe you must open file Sokotra.ini with Notepad editor and look for the lines: CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat change the entry into: //CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat save the file ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ III. Mirage F1CH (1983-2007) This mod is dedicated to BPAO, nothing would have been possible without him. 30 Mirage F1CH were ordered from Dassault by the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) in 1975, with the first deliveries taking place in 1978. F1CH_Late specifics: same as CH_Early + AN/ALE-40 Chaffs/Flares dispenser (control panel on left bench) + ELT-### ECM Pod capability + AAQ-8 capability Covered unit : Escadron ASSAD A big thank to all on Combatace and C6 forums that helped us solving issues we encountered. Any omission in credits is totally unwanted, if I forgot somebody, let me know, I will correct this. This addon is and will in all cases remain freeware. Released under CombatAce Fair-Use terms. These are a repaint of the original files to represent four of the squadrons operating the P631 in France 1940 - two night fighters and from the French Navy. I have tried to match the underwing codes with the aircraft numbers. New Hangar and loading screens, user list and data file included. This is not a full install. Please download and install the original version first. You'll get to keep Charles' excellent original textures. -

1 pointThese files are the A-6A, A-6B, and EA-6A from my install. SF2VAGXP A-6.7z Backup the A-6's from your SF2:V Air & Ground War Expansion by cutting and pasting them to a safe place on your hard drive and then replace them by copying and pasting the attached files and see if they work. I just tested them in my SF2:V A&G Expansion and they were working fine for me.
