12 pointsI'm getting ready to roll out a new release of our software. This is a huge undertaking and I hope to minimize down time. I'll keep this topic updated as things get closer or might interrupt our user experience. Your understanding and patience is appreciated during our remodel. Best regards, E

5 pointsWIP, something to shooting at. The T-67. What if the soviets would have introduced the Object 167 into service? Object 167 was the successor of the T-62 (object 166) with a new suspension system (was later used on T-72) and a new turbo diesel engine with 700 hp instead 580 hp in T-62. Top speed of the tank was 65 km on road, 40 cross country. Range around 450 km. So it was comparable with a Leopard 1 tank, but had a much better armour. There were some versions of object 167. One with gas turbine (helicopter engine), one with 100mm gun D-54TS (comparable with britisch L-7 gun) and one with 115mm smoothbore gun and ATGM Maljutka (AT-2 Sagger) And no, this is not paper tank. This was really tested in the 60th.

2 pointsLofty_c - as I recall, you are running FE2 - since the north sea terrain is working, it may be a problem with how you made the other installs. It might be best to remove the others and remake them. There's a thread that shows how to make multiple installs here: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/81423-setting-up-multiple-versions-of-fe2/?tab=comments#comment-652121 When you have a problem it helps us answer if you can remind us what version you're using, what terrain you're using, what plane you were flying, etc. The more you can tell us, the better we can understand the problem.
-
2 pointsWell, there is a simpler way. First of all, we need to know which aircraft you are trying to fly when an explosion occurs (you and your wingman start a mission at one point). Then in the NATIONS.INI file change the number of the formation (this file also needs to be extracted from MissionData.cat). For example, if such a nuisance happens to you with a Nieuport-28, you must find USAS in the NATIONS.INI file. Then change the the fighter formation for this nation as follows: [Nation001] Name = USAS DisplayName = US Army Air Service Alignment = FRIENDLY PilotNameList = NamesUS.lst RankList = RanksUSAF.lst CallsignList = Formation.Fighter = Fighter3 <------------------------ instead of the initial line 'Formation.Fighter = Fighter' Formation.Attack = Fighter Formation.Bomber = Bomber Formation.Transport = Bomber Formation.Tank = Tank Formation.MobileAD = AD PilotTrainingStandard = POOR

2 pointsHello everybody, The year has just begun, but we're already preparing the new update for you. Version 3.010 will be focused on improving the functionality of several modules of the sim and some of the changes are long-awaited and important. In the meantime, the work on all the Early Access projects progresses according to the schedule and many new things will be ready shortly after 3.010 release, in Q1 2019. Our map designers are finishing the map of the Southern Kursk salient that includes Prokhorovka. As we announced before, it will utilize the higher detailed landscape wireframe and higher detailed buildings damage. When it is finished, the work on the scenario campaigns for "Clash at Prokhorovka" will begin. The campaigns will recreate the large scale historical events of July 1943 to the South-West of Prokhorovka. Today we can show you several screenshots of this map: We plan to show you the new tanks soon - M4A2 Sherman, Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.M (to be released at the end of the Winter) and T-34 mod. 1943 and PzKpfw IV Ausf.G (to be released at the beginning of Spring). We also started the implementation of the major feature - animated tank crewmen. This is a very laborious and time-consuming task since each tank has 4-5 crewmen and each one of them has his own unique pose and animations (many can also lean out of their hatches). This forced us to find new technical approaches for character animation that open new prospects not only for the Tank Crew but also other projects: For "Flying Circus" project we're making the map of 100 km front line near Arras (Spring 1918). It will be made using the same techniques we're using for the creation of the large Bodenplatte project map, so it should also be a step forward visually. Here are first in-game screenshots of Sopwith Dolphin and Fokker D.VII which will be ready soon: For our main project, Bodenplatte, we're preparing the next wave of the new aircraft. FMs for P-51D, Fw 190 D-9 and Me 262 A-1/2 are already in the works, while artists create 3D models of Hawker Tempest Mk.V, P-38J-25, P-51D-15, Me 262 A-1/2 and B-25 Mitchell-II (non-playable). Here are some screenshots of Me 262 A-1/2 (its paint schemes and cockpit are nearly ready): You can discuss the news in this thread

Saab-Hindustan J29H 'Gada' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a very simple mod of the Saab J29 'Tunnan' (original read me enclosed) to create a fictional, licence-built export version in service with the Indian Air Force during 1956-1973 with markings for No.1 squadron. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the J29H folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the J29H folder into your main Decals folder. 3. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the Pilot_IAF folder into your main Pilots folder. 4. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the TANK_J29H folder into your main Weapons folder. That's it! CREDITS Thanks to the original 'Tunnen Team' and, in particular, Phlerp the 3D model maker and skinner. Thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 2 - 29/01/19 Version 1 - 28/12/12 -

This terrain now uses the 250 meter resolution as described here.... http://combatace.com/topic/89389-kamchatka-250m-version-with-adjusted-tileset-etc/ Thanks Stary. Please be aware that due to the terrain resolution, number of objects etc this terrain may take a while to load or not even run at all...Reading the README's is vitally important..!! What's new ? We now have seasons but the winter version dose'nt have snow as I cant seem to get it right. Quite a few new tiles and tod's for the new airfield layouts by myself. Lots of new objects including several complete RAF style airbase layouts made by myself. I have included a few ground object files, some downloaded from here [ships] and some made by myself [RAF trucks and radar etc] but to make sure everything shows I would get just about every UK ground object you can from the CA downloads section.....there are just too many for me to add to the file and keep its size fairly small. FINALLY a big "THANK YOU" to EVERY body that has made any mods for the SF2 series..........there's a good chance some of you work is used here ....Thanks again. -
1 pointJust set the path of your SF2-Installation under "extras-->settings" in LOD-viewer. Otherwise it doesn't know where to find the CATs.

1 pointYes, exactly, that's what I was going on to show you, in my next post. We were both posting at the same time, but my post took longer because of adding pictures. So I was responding to your earlier post, not the one you posted whilst I was typing. The trick is to resize the pop-up and place it exactly over the cockpit version. Use Alpha=1.0 to make it opaque. I have a set of folders, specifically named for individual aircraft. Each one has a different HUD_DATA.ini. Whichever Aircraft I decide to fly, I copy out the file and let it overwrite the current one. The only real drawback is the cockpit bobbing at certain flight speeds.

1 pointSeems very interesting. Yeah, I never understood how strategic nodes work exactly. Common users think that to create a campaign is a very easy task. But for a campaign to be complex and play beautifully, it takes a lot of in-game testing and playing. When you feel like, you might want to create your own thread about the campaign. Someone else could be interested.

1 pointHi mate. Thanks for your fast reply again. Nah it's, all cool. The Knowledge base has been good. I wouldn't call myself new, lolz 😛. New to SF2 yeah, but not to modding in general. I noticed the reference in the TimorNo_DATA.ini to VietnamSEA.cat and I've got all versions installed together. I agree it's weird. I thought somehow the default airbases were being "overridden" by something I'd installed, but it's looking like maybe a _TARGETS.ini problem. I swapped a few objects with newer / updated ones and added China to a campaign I made for it. 😆 I didn't touch Darwin Int'l though or the other airbases that aren't appearing. Gone experiment more.. I'll try installing the terrain again minus any changes I've made. Like I said, it's showing up in TFD Editor so it's really weird .. ☺ *EDIT - STANDBY.. I'll let ya know *
-
1 pointWell, the terrain uses the VietnamSEA.cat archive as a base for stock objects like the runways and most buildings (the only runway models you see should be the two custom ones made by gerwin). If you do not have SF2 Vietnam, you must change which .cat archive to use inside the TimorNO.ini file. Have a look at my last post in the following link, and you should understand: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/92310-all-pilots-scramble-new-terrains-inbound/?tab=comments#comment-746136 I had already posted this link in a previous post. I reckon I never write this stuff in the ReadMe file, so it's my mistake if new users encounter those issues. Let me know if you solve the problem with my suggestion. Otherwise, it would be a very strange bug.
-
1 pointIf you've now go SF2 just get used to running the basic sim for a day or two, see where things are kept, dont try to run before you can walk, it will only end in fustration.

Reworked pack of F-101A and C VooDoo. Generally old good VooDoo in new dresses. There are some small changes in data.ini files mostly in weapon stations section - so Backup your original file. You might not like it. Despite VooDoo is extremely sexy aircraft it is much useless. Unfortunately. It was designed to be something different but had to serve in a totally different role. Nuclear Strike Aircraft. Because I'm always doing mods my way - to fit my needs. I wanted to have squadrons that used "fighting 101". So the thing is...this is one aircraft - because squadrons contained a mix of A and C versions and this aircraft had very limited use I decided to make one aircraft to cover both A and C version. By default, I used A version limits. Anyway, differences were only in the internal structure of airframe. Airframe 54-1491 served as CO aircraft in 27th TFW. So in the early sixties, it will pop up in special markings for 78th, 91st, and 92nd squadrons. If you want separate aircraft A and C you will have to do it on your own. Decals/serials for C are marked in numbers.lst with 'dot' . All new skins in 3072x3072 resolution. New bump maps and specular maps. also in 3072.. plus decals to cover A and C models serial numbers. Pack contains 11 skin sets for early use by 27th TFW and then 81st TFW - all squadrons that ever used F-101A / C (from different time periods to cover years of usage). All new decals consisting of 95 serial numbers for block 20-35 of A version and block 40-55 for C version. Backup your original F-101 Folders. Also Decals! Pack also includes the Mk.7 Tactical Nuclear Bomb. New model quickly made for purposes of this pack. And an extra thing for squadron/wing geeks - set of skins for squadron hack. Credits: Original models ErikGen yakarov - skins / decals / some small ini tweak / Mk.7 model Soulfreak - original skin for an extra thing. Have Fun. May the VooDoo be with you. Jarek Hereda -

Potez 633 B2 Grec The supply agreement for 24, twin-engine Potez 633 B2 Grec bombers, was signed in January 1938 with the delivery deadline expiring in 1 year. Finally 13 airplanes were delivered but one of them was destroyed with French crew at Tanagra Air Base on the delivery flight. The remaining 11 airplanes were confiscated by the French upon the break of the war. The Greek Potez 633 had bombing configuration, except one that was delivered with photographic equipment. Hydraulic variable-paced propellers, F.R. radio, periscopic Bronzavia type bombing sight, OPL 36 fixed gunner sight, GPU rails for 4 or 2 bombs were among their equipment. They took part in the operations in 1940 - 1941, with the 31st Bombing Squadron, until their final immobilization due to the lack of spare parts. LloydNB -

1 pointA while ago I started skinning Veltro's Potez-630 C3 as the bomber variant - the Potez-633 B2. The first skin will be for the Royal Hellenic Air Force, but others will follow. So far the changes include removing the navigator, altering the loadout and squeezing 8 50-kg bombs into the bomb-bay, and changing the armament to 7.5mm machine-guns. I have still to work out how to fake a partially glazed nose and cover some mapping issues. As I understand it, if an area of a model has not been mapped for the skin then you can't put a tga file over the area. Is that correct? Does anyone know how many 7.5mm rounds were carried for the forward facing and rear facing guns?
