7 pointsahem...in the free 3ds models from Alpha....needs a lot of work...everything is there...gears etc...just needs a lot of polys welding...etc etc....3ds tends to seperate polygons from each other...smoothing reveals how many meshes are intact...a lot are...but some meshes need rejoining....if someone wants a project...im too busy atm...mebbe after xmas This pic after I smoothed out some meshes...and re orientated the model to SF export position.

2 pointsFor the Spanish Civil War - The NiD 52 was a French designed plane built under license in Spain in the early 30's. It was used by both sides (mostly by the Republican forces) during the Civil War. I am making a version for each side. The model, decals, and skins are finished. The cockpit is built but I've only just started the skins for it. And I still have a lot of work to do with the FM, damage, etc.

2 pointsJust tested the latest FBX SDK...loaded model in max 2016 and 2010...only other versions I have access to....if you export via FBX plugin....SDK detects max version and installs app plugin.. it WILL work in max2009. via import FBX limitations.... 1,helpers turn to boxes.. no biggy 2,animated vertices wont scale no biggy 3,textures dont show in mat editor but they do show if you unwrap a mesh.,so maybe just build model and make basic uvunwrap maps etc.....no biggy adding back to material editor. or just map and add textures in 2009 so far only problems. so , my conclusions... model in max 2016 or so..animate basics or do it in 2009....export via fbx (MUST be version 2009.9) select in drop down for versions.when exporting. animate vertices you need in max 2009...really only needed for drag chutes..(.so not really that bad.) all in all far better visually to model in newer versions.... Give it a try with model you dont want. BEWARE....DONT SAVE MODEL ACCIDENTALLY AND LOSE ANY MAX2009 WORK...i NEARLY DID ..FORGOT THAT IT SAVES FILES IN SAME PLACE IF YOU INSTALA FURTHER VERSION OF 3DSMAX .THANK GOD FOR AUTOSAVE BACKUPS FUNCTION LOL

2 pointsOther shots of the Moon terrain. The environment system has been tweaked to allow for stars to appear even during daylight hours. Unfortunately, the stars are the same as seen from Earth, and a day lasts 24 hours as if it was Planet Earth. At least the gravity is correct. And "here" we have blue-ish sunsets... orange skies... hmm...

1 pointIn response to dsawan's thread (https://combatace.com/forums/topic/93782-moon-scenery/), I decided to create a realistic Moon scenery. I will use this thread to remind myself that I have one in the making, LOL. Jokes aside, I have encountered various limitations of the game engine in regards to the environmentsystem.ini file, but hopefully I will solve everything. I wish guys like @Stary were still around, their knowledge would be of help. Gravity and Inclination Angle are that of the Moon. Earth phases have been created as well. The terrain features a high quality 250m heightmap of an area between Mare Crisium and Mare Smythii. Right now, I am using some repainted objects as stand-in Space AAA guns and SAMs. I also modified two fictional aircraft available here (KF-2 and KF-1) to be used for this scenario. The scenario pits a joint alliance (United States Space Force, Russian Space Forces and People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Forces) against a fictional Settlement Defense Front, in the years 2038-2048. Those interested are invited to contribute with fictional yet "realistic" objects of a future Moon settlement, as well as new aircraft designs (IIRC X-Plane had some study aircraft designs for flight on Mars).

This is the newest version of the LODViewer. New features: -decal support -display of collision and pivot points -added transparency and wireframe display mode -user definable background color -view manipulation via keyboard -64 bit application -uses the OpenSceneGraph library and Qt 5.9.5 Install instructions: Extract the content of the zip package to a convenient location. The LODViewer depends on the Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 C++ libraries. If not already installed on the computer (e.g. by other applications) it has to be installed by running vcredist_x64.exe (you can find it in the redist subfolder of this package). Have fun! And report bugs Mue -

1 pointDear Pilots, Summer is drawing to a close once again and our offices in Moscow and Las Vegas are finally transitioning to cooler weather. The Fall season brings warm sweaters and more indoor time with the family and more time playing your favorite combat flight-simulation – IL-2 Sturmovik!! The team is very busy preparing the next update due later this month which will be a big one, but not quite the final one before Battle of Bodenplatte and Flying Circus are considered ready for release. We also continue our work on Tank Crew which has some new features and improvements coming as well. In light of our crammed schedule we simply leave you with some new images of our P-38J-25 and P-51D-15 and a shot of our A.I. B-25 from Battle of Bodenplatte! Enjoy!

1 pointNow that I've retired money is a bit tighter (I'm still 9 years away from getting state pension) but I'll have this wonderful lite sim to help occupy my time so I've donated.

1 pointTK banked everything on the in-game mission editor, the F-14 Tomcat, and the new terrain engine and the dice went snake eyes. The new terrain engine as implemented in Iceland/SF2NA failed to impress me yet took a tremendous amount of time and effort for TK to implement. It wasn't readily supported with clear documentation for modders to make new terrains, which killed a critical aspect in the future of the game. The mission editor was ok, though I was happy with Kreelin's editor. The F-14 looked and worked very well, yet did not draw the money that might be expected from all the forum chatter about it prior to release. I am surprised he is even trying this go-fund-me as bad SF2 development/profitability went for him.

1 pointLets turn it around in the extreme: Whatever TK invests or does is of little consequence here. The survey flight sim customers, that were a thing in the 90's, are gone or out of reach. This fundraiser being a measuring tool to make that conclusion, and the measurement is pretty clear on this. Edit; It should not discourage anyone to at least do a $1 vote, to state one personally cares for those extremely moddable survey flight sims by Third Wire. Despite what the rest of the world is currenly doing.

1 pointThose two are not worth any effort applying to that website... I believe it is worth to wait for V bombers here.
-
1 pointThis is what I like with SF2: If I read an interesting account of a mission over VN (or Israel, or Korea or ...), I can play it in SF2 in 2 clicks

1 pointThe additional information on this campaign is fine with me. Just don't really like Windows 10 anyways. But whatever helps TK doing some actual PC SF stuff again. So I threw in a contribution now.

1 pointWe all love the SF series and I think we can all make this work .. I'm sure TK's heart is in it; and that can only be a good thing! For what it's worth, I've chimed in and hope we can reach the goal! Cheers

1 pointAnyway, this is an opportunity to bring SF2 back, and I support it.That is the hope anyway,it looks naive, but its always good to have hope.MAKE SF2 GREAT AGAIN!!!
-
1 pointI have questions. 1: I have run Windows 10 for a while and do not experience problems with SF2. Are there any here who do? 2: 25 Large for a compatibility update seems like a lot of money. All the other features appears to be if he gets more than that. 3: Have TK considered alternate methods such as releasing on GoG.com, Humble Store, Epic Steam or Steam? 4: Have TK considered to lower the price of his products? One game still costs as much as a DCS Module on sale? I would be happy to donate if it meant SF2 got a significant update with a clear list of features. But now it all seems far too vague.
